Ibooks on macbook Yosemite will not open

My macbook pro has been updated to Yosemite, but iBooks will not open
Does anyone have a simple solution please?

OK, I tried to reset the Pram, and nothing happens! Is it possible that on Intel Macs, we can not set the Pram?
I was always able to do it on my older Macs, but find that there is no reaction on theses very new Macs.
Do you or anyone else have any input on this post?

After you finished installing did you launch Adobe Reader from your /Applications folder and accept EULA(End User License Agreement)?

  • My MacBook Pro will not open any application or program that requires internet, even though I am connected to the web.

My MacBook Pro will not open any app or program that requires Internet, even though I am connected to the web. I recently installed Norton AntiVirus and think it may have changed a setting that I couldn't find. I uninstalled Norton and it didn't help. Every time I open Safari, iTunes or any other program that tries to connect to the Internet, it crashes. Strangely enough, Skype still works, but nothing else.
    I have OSx 10.6.8.
I have tried erasing plists, and all the standard troubleshooting, ie resetting modem, restarting computer, reloading Safari from disk.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.

In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock.  Highlight Airport.  Network Name-select your name.  Click on the Advanced button.  Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."  Click the OK button and lock the padlock.  Restart your computer.

I uninstalled Norton and it didn't help.
To properly uninstall Norton software follow these instructions - Locate Symantic Solutions folder inside the Applications folder at the root level of your HD, launch the Symantec Uninstaller application, select the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate, Norton AntiVirus & Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect entries and click the Uninstall button.
Confirm your decision when prompted and then enter your administrator password in the space provided.
Retart your computer & Norton should be gone for good.
If the above does not work, download a copy of Symantec’s RemoveSymantecMacFiles removal utility.  This utility will launch Terminal & remove the Norton components.

  • TS3276 Mail on MacBook Pro will not open nor quit to allow the comp to restart

my mail app on my macbook pro will not open and i've had problems with it since day one. i simply use to ignore this problem and use a different email source, but now the computer won't even restart because the mail app will not quit. how do i fix this?

I found that the problem with many gmail installations in Apple Mail (and other mail clients) is related to Google's two step verification process. If you remember getting text codes on your mobile device(s) asking you to verify your email account, this is a possibility for you. You may have to log onto GMail from your browser, got to the "gear" icon->settings->Change account settings->Change password recovery options, then put in your password again at the resulting verification window, and turn off secondary verification via text in the ensuing windows. This prevents the mail client from failing to verify via a password you may not even have access to in order to go online. Once you have done this and saved it, you should be able to send and receive mail and no longer be prompted for your password unsuccessfully over and over. MAke sure, of course, that all your regular email settings are correct again (like FULL email address in user name fields), now that you may have changed lots of things in the vain attempt to overcome this rather obscure problem
P.S., it's a Google issue, not an Apple issue. It seems Apple and Apple Mail hs been getting a bit of a bad rap here for being asked to do the impossible based on what it has been given to work with.

  • IPHOTO MACBOOK PRO WILL NOT OPEN

    AFTER INSTALLING THE LATEST SOFTWARE..
IPHOTO WILL NOT OPEN ON MY MAC. IT WILL JUST
SHOW THE WHITE CIRLCE SPINNING LIKE IT IS ABOUT
TO OPEN BUT IT NEVER DOES??? ANY IDEAS WHY?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Please don't type in block capitals. It's actually harder to read, and on the forum it looks like you're shouting at everybody.

  • Safari on my MacBook Air will not open?

Safari crashed when I was watching Netflix.  I did the OS X Yosemite version 8.0.2 update (this update ruined my life) Every time I try to open Safari it says "Problem Report for Safari
    Safari quit unexpectedly.
Click Reopen to open this application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically."
And then I click Reopen and the same thing keeps popping up. I tried to restart my computer, which did nothing. The irony is that Firefox and Google Chrome works perfectly fine. It's just Safari won't open and I feel like that I am going on a rampage. It's almost midnight and all what I want to do is finish watching Netflix. I need Safari back not this report saying that it will automatically be sent to Apple. I feel comfortable with Safari, but Safari crashing and won't reopen. I don't know what to do. I'm hoping that I just wake up tomorrow and Safari will open with a snap of a finger. We all know that won't happen. I've had no problem with my computer until now .

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Yosemite will not open an app.   Security settings?

Hi.  I keep getting the following message when I try to open a particular application:
"PDF Converter Pro.app” can’t be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed..  Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers"
Does anyone know what settings I need to change to open this program?  Thanks
    Ken Goodman

It is not advisable to change the settings for that. If you want to, you can go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. You will see radio buttons with the header "Allow apps from."
A better approach would be to go on an app-by-app basis. To manually allow permission for a particular app, right click on it and choose Open.

On my MacBook Pro, I am unable to install the latest update from Apple. It can't find a volume to install it onto. Also, iTunes update to 7.1.1 fails at the same point. When I use auto update, it says computer is up to date!

  • Iphone and MacBook Pro will not open App store

I am assuming that this must be a wifi thing. For a while now I was only able to use my iphone with "guest" login from my home network for reasons I do not know... Anyway, both my iphone and my Mac cannot connect to the app store.
I went to the router website/support page and it states everything is working correctly.
Wondering if I did something somehow to have my devices not detect my router/modem?
(And... why only the app store? They both connect to the internet fine.)
    Thank you in advance!
