IBooks scam email?

In recent weeks I've had two emails from this address:  [email protected] Offering free iBooks and discounted iBooks.
Has anyone else had these?

Thanks. The @new.itunes.com address gave me cause to think it was a scam email.

  • I recieved a scam email from apple. then sent me the same email using my own email account. how do I report this to apple. can't find any contact details.

hi over the past month have received maybe 5 scam emails from apple.
I opened one the other day cause I thought well maybe it is from apple.
went through the steps and it was  amazed at how well they did at copying apple website. you could even go to the apple shop page from their page!
what set me off that it was fake was that I tried to open the other apple pages along the top and it wouldn't let me. so I opened my own apple page and logged in. and realised that they don't ask for your bank details in your Apple ID account.
anyways so now what has happened is I got an email today " from myself" with this same scam email. it is as if they have hacked my email account and sending me these emails. I want to report this to apple but am unable to find any contact details apart from call back options. does any one have any advice on this.

I've had that same exact issue, I received the first e-mail claiming to be from Apple last night (though over the past week I've received two other scam e-mails from different addresses claiming that my bank transactions have been aborted). It said it was from my own address, and I checked it closely to make sure it wasn't a spoof account but found it was indeed my own e-mail address. Five minutes ago I changed my password, and I have just now received a second e-mail exactly the same, still coming from my own account. My best guess at an explanation is that it may have been sent before I changed my password and there was just a delay in the message sending, resulting in it coming through after changing my password.
I've now forwarded the e-mail on as an attachment to the [email protected] address, however this still doesn't help me with regards to stopping these e-mails. It concerns me that even though I changed my password they still possibly have access to my account. I tried checking my account activity but as opening the mail app on my iPhone is considered as a log in and I check it almost twice an hour, it's impossible to tell which could possible be an intruder logging in.

  • Scam email: Adobe-Reader-Pro

A variation on an old scam was received this morning by the company that I work for.  At first glance it looks genuine by its simplicity but has anyone ever heard of Adobe Reader Pro?  There is the official looking logo and even an address in California but simple checks can confirm the scam. I am told that clicking on the links will result in a bunch of malware being installed into your computer.  Below is the text from the message received this morning:

  • How do I purge my Mac desktop after opening SCAM EMAIL?

I accidentally opened 2 SCAM EMAILS and now need to purge my iMac.  I need VERY simple, step by step instructions, as I'm definitely not tech savvy.  Apple won't help me unless I pay $20 because even my extended coverage is ended

Try the free software from the Mac App Store:

  • Is there anywhere to report scam emails?

I received an email  stating I had an invoice for a purchase £28.99 that I didn't make, the link took me to an official looking site, but looking further into it the site I realised it was not secure. I know others won't look into it as much as I did and may enter their Apple id and password into the fake site. Does Apple have anywhere where these scam emails can be reported?

Forward them to [email protected] and then delete them.

  • Can't send ibook via email

I am trying to send an ibook via email. I get a warning stating that the file is 12 meg. I proceed and get a chime sound but nothing else happens. My mac email app is working okay.
    Any ideas Cheers
    SteveW

The file size is 10 meg. We are on Virgin media and attachment limit is 20 meg.
What happens when you send via email ?
Does  the email app fire up ?
Do you see the email in the sent items.
Like I said in the first post I just get the 'warning' sound and nothing happens.
    Cheers

  • Thunderbird sent out 100+ scam emails this morning from one of my Gmail accounts.

Thunderbird is my email software. It handles my email account from my ISP (used for private business), plus 2 other Gmail accounts one for family and one for the local camera club.
This morning, some 100+ spam email messages were sent from one of the Gmail accounts, but accessed the address book of all 3 email accounts - most of the names in each address book are only unique to one address book and not duplicated across the other address books.
I have Forefront, Karpersky and Norton running on the notebook, but nothing showing as a problem. And supposedly, Gmail is meant to scan emails before it delivers them.
The scam emails are all similar - one word in the subject, but with a space in the word (ie De livered), a one line message saying I sent you a message, please open it and then a link to open.
    Please help.

One anti virus is all any computer can cope with more simply means more false positive and more chance of none of them working.
Now you say Thunderbired sent these mails. Did a message come up when you started Thunderbird asking to send unsent mails (as would happen if they were added to it's outbox while it was closed.)
did you see anything saying Thunderbird was sending mail?
Or is the mail actually from some web site that your logged into using your, say facebook, credentials that has now spammed your contacts list bacause you allowed to list on that web site.

  • One of the best scam emails from "apple" I have ever seen

I received a very convincing email from [email protected] asking me to up date my details. It was very soft and apple like so I started to input my details, then it asked for credit card updates, mothers maiden name and CVV number of my card. Turns out you don't even need to log in, it takes you directly to this page even if you just click sign in! I'm worried that others may comply so here is the link!
DO NOT ENTER ANY DETAILS ITO THIS AS THEY WILL TAKE YOU ENTIRE IDENTITY AND ROB YOU!

  • Scam email from iTunes@clients

I received a scam email today from iTunes@clients . It said that I need to click on the link to verify my account in 24hours, i did click on the link and it showed up like Apple log in page with apple ID and password but I didn't fill it in and has reported the email to Apple.
By clicking on the link will it harm anything to my apple ID or my iphone even i didn't fill in anything?

Likely not. They were just wanting your ID and password to gain access to your account.

Apple also won't make spelling mistakes such as "costumers", nor will they ever tell you that your account has been or will be frozen and that you need to validate it.
There are many such fakes, some even worse and some quite legitimate-looking, but all are scams. See Apple's tips on how to identify such frauds:

Are you trying to say that all of the apps mentioned are running as
XENapps? If not please specify which are local vs remote.
What is the client OS being run as that may also factor in.
Worth trying another PDF reader such as FoxIT reader to better see
which side is driving that behaviour.

  • Scam email Your Apple ID was just used to download

Has anyone received the following email / Scam?
    I didn't buy this.
    Please advise. Thanks.
    Rob
Your Apple ID was just used to download All-In-1 3D Emoticons Professional 5$ from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID. If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself. If you did not initiate this download, we recommend that you go toiforgot.apple.com to change your password, then see Apple ID: Tips for protecting the security of your account for further assistance. Regards,

I think just got scammed also with the following email from apple.  I clicked the link and it sent to the i-forgot apple screen which looks authentic enough. They even had my old credit card details on the page and said I need to update them.  As I had not used the account for a long time to purchase it seemed authentic enough, but when I put in the new details i got a message a minute later on my phone that a transaction from apple  (ITUNES:COM/BILL)   had been successful for the value of 1.98 form Luxumberg. Strange as I had not downloaded any paid app that time, just a free one from the app store.  After checking the apps purchases nothing new showed up so I had no ideas what was going on.
Strangely enough, the Apple id password I changed also was changed on the official apple ID site and on all my devices so I am really not sure if it was a scam or just a f%&* up by apple.  I cancelled my card just in case.
I even checked the web pages linked on the message and the authentic one and they seemed to be the same initial address.
    Dear ,
Your Apple ID, (correct id inserted), was just used to download Podcasts from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.
If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself.
If you did not initiate this download, we recommend that you go to iforgot.apple.com to change your password, then see Apple ID: Security and your Apple ID for further assistance.

  • Skype Community member sent me a scam email

I'm not sure if some of you have experienced this before, but someone on Skype Community sent me a private message, saying they wanted to be friends, but to contact them with their email address for 'network and personal reason'. I presumed it slightly suspicious, but I used my secondary email address and emailed the person to see what happened.
They seemed nice at first, but then after I replied, they came back with an email asking for money and all that stuff. So after that, I went and ignored the person on my Skype Community list.
Is there a way we report Skype Community members about scam and all that? And maybe ban them? O_o
If you know, your knowledge would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Hi, Fire4564,
Yes, the Moderation Team is aware of this issue.  Thank you for alerting the Community!  You may report the community member account name, and the text of the message if you wish, by copying and pasting, and sending a private message to a moderator.
Your post reads like so many others where scammers attempt to contact people via contact requests, e-mail, FaceBook, and so on.  The advice is the same: if you feel endangered, are harrassed, or threatened with blackmail, report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.  If needed, the authorities will contact Skype directly via official channels.
For those reading, please note: the Moderation Team is unable to lend assistance to requests for help sent via private message!  Please send messages to the Moderation Team by request only, such as in this instance.  Please post your questions on the Community message board best suited to the item you need assistance with.  Thank you for understanding!
    Best regards,
    Elaine
