Ibooks search very slow

since i upgrade my ipod touch 5gen to ios 8.02 my ibooks search become very slow, it took couple seconds to type one letter
does anyone have the same problem?

IBooks is very slow

IBooks is very slow, Sometimes it takes up to 10 seconds to turn the page. I use the German edition of Yosemite and iBooks.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

IBooks Author VERY slow on new, late 2013 iMac

I have an iBook that is about 100mb that I am writing. The book is tediously slow to work on. Moving widgets around takes on inordinate amount of time and sometimes blows up the formatting of the book. On my old Mac Pro Late 2008, I never experienced this.
I am running Mavericks 10.9.1 on a late 2013 iMac 3.5GHz Core i7, 16gb RAM, 500GB SSD.
Has anyone else have this problem or know a solution?

I'm in the same problem.
iBooks is became unusable.
I have published numerous ibooks, but an old update of iBooks (already with Mountain Lion, don'tv remember when), is became very very slow, with the same Mac.
Now I have update to Mavericks (now 10.9.1) hoping to solve the problem, in vain.
I have a MacBook pro 17" later 2011, 2,5 Ghz, Intel core i7, 16gb ram and i work only with iBooks Author and OpenOffice.

Ibooks search function slow & sluggish after ios8 upgrade

With a large collection of digital books, I have always loved the ipad and ibooks for the simple fact that the search function was by far superior to those offered by other tablet competitors. I upgraded last night, and have immediately found that the search function is now sluggish and lags as i type (was not this way with ios7). I own an ipad air, and I have compared ibooks on my friends ipad gen 3 who is still on ios7 and hers is faster than mine!
What has changed to justify the sluggish feel and speed to what was once a very light and speedy app???

I experience this, too. I wonder whether the iBooks library search now extends to one's iCloud collection, slowing the process If that's it, there should be a configuration option to turn off the "feature."

Search very slow

I'm searching for messages in a message folder ("Inbox", 72 MB, about 100 messages) with a given message ID:
SearchTerm st = new HeaderTerm("Message-ID", messageId);
Message[] msgs = folder.search(st);This search lasts about 1 minute and more. I think the message file is a very small one. What can I do to speed up this search?

I'm going to take a 'shot' at this.
By default I believe the folder.search(SearchTerm) method does a getMessages() call (which would be pretty slow with the numbers you have given).
Are you using POP3 or IMAP?
I'm assuming you are using POP3 as the IMAP provider uses the IMAP server's search capabilities and POP3 uses the default method mentioned above.
If you aren't using POP3 and my assumptions are completely wrong, it could be an issue with the mail server (try connecting with telnet and sending the appropriate commands that way).

Search very slow for one Mailbox

I am running GW 7.03 on NetWare 6.5 SP7 server. I have one mailbox that is about 1 GB in size and when I search the text in the message, it takes very long time (sometime longer than 5 minutes and still no result return). This only happen since last week.
I ran the GW mailbox maintenance and reindex the mailbox but the search speed does not improve.
I noticed the line saying "BOX COUNT VIOLATORS- count > 500, what does that mean?

I have a test GW8 test running on NW6.5 SP7. I got to the web console port 7181, Configuration tab, QUickfinder indexing page and enter the FID i.e. m9k in the Beginning & user user FID fields and pressed <Submit>.
On the NetWare POA console, I press Ctrl+Shift+Q and I saw the message:
Connection refused [8925] see GWDCA.log
QuickFinder indexing thread finished
QuickFinder index Rebuild
QuickFinder index update
Question 1:
Is the process same on GW7 & GW8?
Question 2:
How can I tell the indexing is complete?
Question 3:
If I do it via the Web Console, do I need to restart POA?
Question 4:
Would the steps above be similar to what TID 3105742 will do.

Outlook Contacts search very slow in Palm Treo 750v

While trying to search a contact from the Outlook Address Book to send a mail through BlackBerry the address retrival takes ages to happen. Is this a problem with BlackBerry Connect or Windows Mobile.

While searching the contacts for SMS or making a call the search is quite faster but when I try to open the contacts list from the Blackberry reply mail option it takes ages to open (approximately around 2 to 3 minutes) and then browsing through the contacts itself is quite slower . This problem does not arise in nromal operations.

Ibook becoming very slow?

Hi all.
My Ibook G4 has become veeery slow lately. I have like 3 gigs empty space on my hard drive. I tried to delete some pics and movies and thought that would help but nothing changed.
I have also deleted some applictations and thought that would help but neither did that help.
So,,,what can i do to make it work like before again?
Its like hacking and getting stucked when i open multiple pages and run different programs.

Then there is the big one. What's the faster internet browser? Everyone seems to have different answers. Is there one answer or does it depend on the system your running? Please tell.

Ibook runs extremely slow

Out of a clear blue sky my ibook runs very slow. It takes forever to open a file or any document and it dies on the black screen when I try to opena pdf. I used the OS disk to repair the HD but the message is "HD does not need repaired". I have about 17 GB left on the HD so there is lots of room.
Everything seems to function correctly except for the slowness. My ibook is 55 months old and this is the first time I have had any trouble.
I am using Broadband. Any suggestions on what to try next? I could take it into a Apple store, but I hate to do that.

Yes. Airport does not load during Safe Boot. I wanted you to check how the computer responds with other apps, which, it seems, is fine.
Richard may be right about the Airport Extreme card. It is easily accessible, so no problem to go in and remove it, then reseat it securely. However, in my experience the Airport card will either work or not work at all, rather than being slow. In other words, if it is not properly seated you will not get a signal from your airport base or you may get a kernel panic. Go ahead and check it anyway and let us know if it makes a difference. If it works, great. If not we will need to trouble shoot your account.

I uploaded 4000 books and 2000 mp3 to my ipad2.
After this loading ibook is very slow and I don't see the covers comming up.
What is wrong ? What is there to change to make it work quicker?

Apple wants you to upgrade your hardware. My iPad3 is doing the same thing. Planned obsolescence, since iPad sales are down and because a well maintained iPad will last seven years. The product is just too well built, so let's artistically choke out the old machines with a new IOS update.

Why are most of the apps (anything that has to search) on my iphone4 and ipad (1) running very slow (or not at all) since iOS5 update...esp google. Search seems to go quickly, but then when I try to open a link..nothing. I have turned off icloud.

I am having the same problem. Did turning off iCloud work? Did you just turn everything off or did you actually delete the account off your iPod?

OAM Identity Server user search is very slow after upgrading to 10.1.4.2

We recently upgraded Identity-Server from 7.0.4 to 10.1.4.2 + BP10. The new webpass (version 10.1.4.2) is on iPlanet webserver, which does not have any bundled patch available. After this upgrade, we found the user search is very slow. It is taking double the time compare to version 7.0.4. The search performance for NetPoint admin users is fine.
The new version is connecting to the same LDAP (Sun 5.2) as the old one. The 7.0.4 version was well tuned (like Ldap connections, caching, etc) for the performance. The migration suppose to carryover those performance configuration to the new version. Is there any new parameter (related to performance) I should look for in version 10 ? Anybody have faced these issues after migration and found a fix for it ?

Save Search Running Very Slow

I have a custom page with a query Bean and have Simple, Advanced and View Panels enabled. My Search functionality works great, very fast. However, when I save a search... any search... no matter how small the resultset...When I go into the views panel... The views run VERY slow. The results do eventually come back, but it takes 3-5 minutes compared to 3-5 seconds when I run the same search from my search panels.
Does anybody know what OAF does in the background of the Views Panel? Does it alter the SQL differently then when I simply run a search?
Any help is much appreciated.

I had the same problem when I setup a new computer this week. Here's what I had installed:
Photoshop CS5
Suitcase Fusion 3
The problem was that when I was in Photoshop and used the "Save for Web" export screen, the dropdown menu for the different export types (JPG, PNG, GIF, etc) would take an extremely long time to update the preview of the graphic.
After a few days of research , I found that Suitcase was conflicting with Photoshop. Here's how you fix the problem (or at least here's what I did with my situation):
Open Suitcase
Go to "Tools", click "Manage Plugins"
Deactivate the Photoshop plugin
This fixed the problem immediately and now my Photoshop" Save For Web" feature is working really fast. Hope this helps anyone else in the same boat.
