Ibooks syncing issue ipad 2

Every time I link my Macbook Pro to my ipad 2 to sync I have to re check the 'load all books' box.  Is this a new books not syncing issue? Or something else? How do I keep the load all box checked so I can not keep assessing my memory wrongly?

I have the same issues with my iPad2, ibooks crashes immediately.  Very disappointing that apple has not addressed this issue quicker!  What good is iOS updates, if it screws up apps.

  • IBooks syncing issue

I have created a book in iBooks Author and have the newest version of iBooks (2.0.1), but when I try to sync my iPad to view the book an error message comes up that says that it requires the newest version of iBooks. Does anyone have any suggestions about why I would be receiving this error message or how to fix it?
    Thanks!

Delete iBooks 2 off your iPad and reinstall.

  • Not all ibooks syncing between ipad and iphone

I am trying to sync about 1500 ibooks from my ipad mini to my iphone 6 but it will only sync about 1400. I transferred all purchases from my mini to itunes and then synced my iphone but certain ibooks will appear then disappear or will only open to a blank white screen then disappear. Not sure what happen or how to fix this. All started happening after ios8.

On your phone go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contact section).  If you have this setting, make be sure you have selected iCloud as your default account and not something else like On My iPhone, Google, Yahoo, an Exchange account, etc.  If iCloud is not selected, make this change then add a new test contact and see if it appears in your contacts on icloud.com and your other devices now.
If you don't have the Default Account setting, or if it is set to iCloud but new contacts added to your phone still aren't appearing on icloud.com, add any missing contacts from your phone to your contacts on icloud.com.  Once the contacts on icloud.com are up to date, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then after a few seconds turn Calendars back on.  Then add a new test contact on your phone and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com and your other devices now.

  • HT5544 iBooks syncing issues

I recently had to reset my iPad, I have lost all of the notes and highlights in books I previously read using iBooks, is there a way to recover my notes and highlights?

I just ensure the same pdfs are checked when I sync with iTunes, there are some apps that sync documents between devices but they generally result in more work rather than less.

  • IBooks sync issues

My ibooks don't sync properly with my iPhone.  When I de-select certain books it automatically re-selectes them during the sync process and ends up not taking them off my iphone.  Sometimes other books are automatically selected while others are not.  I don't see much rhym or reason to what is automatically selected and de-selected.  I just want to take some books I am finished reading off my iphone, but it won't let me do it.  The books it won't let me take off my iphone are ones downloaded through itunes with my iphone.  Some were free, others purchased.
Apple Express lane was zero help, told me I had to purchase additional support to report a problem with their product (grrrr)!

    Hello marilynmcmanus,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To be able to sync your iBooks Author book to your iPad, you will first need to export it as iBooks format and put it in iTunes for you to sync it.
    Export in iBooks format
With the book open, choose File > Export, and click iBooks.
If you want to submit the file to the iBooks Store, click the disclosure triangle next to iBooks Store Options and follow the onscreen instructions.
    Click Next.
Type a name for the book, choose a place to save it, and click Export.
To view the book in iBooks for iPad, make sure you have latest versions of iBooks and iOS installed, and do one of the following:
Email the file and open it in Mail on an iPad. Tap the file to open it.
Drag the book file (with the extension .ibooks) to the iTunes window and sync the book to your iPad. For more information, see iTunes Help.
To view the book in iBooks for Mac, make sure you have latest versions of iBooks and OS X installed, and do the following:
Drag the book file (with the extension .ibooks) to iBooks.
Export your book for iBooks or in another format

I am not able to sync my iMac iPad and iPhone ibooks

If this isn't working for you, try the traditional method of connecting your devices to your iMac with a USB cable and syncing.

  • After iBooks purchase on iPad, Books sync in iTunes incorrectly switches away from "All Books"

    Background:
    iTunes 11.4 on OSX 10.9.5
    iPad running iOS 8.0 (12A365)
    iPhone running iOS 8.0 (12A365)
same behaviour observed w. iOS 7.x and iTunes 11.x
I have a largish library of ~500 books and PDFs, managed via Books v1.0.1 on OSX. I sync all of my content to both the iPhone and iPad in its entirety as it contains both light reading and technical content for work and reference.
I've noticed that sometimes my library of books gets out of sync between the three devices and hadn't narrowed the cause. Last week I got caught without some important info available to me due to the issue, so I invested some time tracking it down.
    Issue:
With iTunes set under the Device sync setting to sync "All Books" and both ends currently in (content) sync, if you make a purchase on the iPad/iPhone via iBooks so that a new book is added to the device library … and then plug in via USB to OSX and sync the device in iTunes. iTunes will toggle the "All Books" option to "Selected Books" and only select the single entry just purchased.
That causes the new book to be synced successfully to the OSX Books library (where it was already pending as a cloud purchase anyway), but now the issue is that iTunes retains the "Selected Books" sync setting going forward for that device (with whatever context that may be referring to lost). Hence further additions to the OSX Books library and/or the iPad/iPhone library are ignored for syncing going forward, until such time as you realise and manually revert the setting to "All Books" as required.
It seems some of the behaviour on book purchasing/library changes is definitely broken and has been so for quite some time (at least last 2-3 releases of iTunes). Interestingly, adding a PDF to iBooks on the iPad/iPhone (such as via the services menu from a Safari page) seems to trigger the behaviour sometimes but not with the same repeatability.
Can anyone else verify this behaviour or know if its a reported issue?

Sorry, I was only able to get back to this issue today, but it worked.
Thank you again Michael for your help. It was as simple as just buyng a free book from the iTunes store to create a Books area, then I was able to drag and drop my 3rd party book there.
Still, I feel that there should already be a Books area in iTunes, but perhaps I am the only one who has updated iTunes on a computer without any previously purchased books on it from the iTunes store.

  • More Aperture/iPad syncing issues

Each time I create a new project or album in Aperture, I have trouble getting the images to the iPad when I sync. I sometimes need to sync several times until the images are recognized and imported to iPad. I do have the albums designated manually, rather than all, which means I have to sync and then sync again after I check the checkbox for the new album. I understand that, but sometimes I have to go back into Aperture to make sure the previews are updated. If I choose to update the previews for a project, Aperture will usually tell me that they're already up to date, but often they will not show up on the iPad, even after I check the appropriate box for the album in iTunes. Sometimes I get good results if I delete the previews and regenerate them in Aperture.
The second problem is the sort order. Even if I have "sort by filename" selected in Aperture, they do not show up in this order on the iPad--despite what the support article says about this. They appear to only show up in Date order. I've tried repeatedly resetting the sort order, but it does not change on the iPad. Sometimes I have to delete the album from the iPad, (uncheck the album in iTunes and sync again), then recheck it and sync yet another time. This does not always work, however.
It is very frustrating. The interface between Aperture and the iPad is very wonky. I often have to sync repeatedly, just to get the photos on the iPad and even then they're usually in the wrong order.
Aperture appears to have two types of previews: "previews" and "sharing previews," but "sharing previews" don't seem to appear in the documentation. I've noticed that, even when Aperture says the previews are up to date, when I exit the program, it will sometimes (but, maddeningly, not always), give the message, "updating sharing previews" before quitting. I cannot figure out how to force this, however. Sometimes opening and closing Aperture several times will cause it to do this, but I can't be sure.
iTunes seems to have its own process in which it "optimizes" images for importing to the iPad. Like Aperture's mysterious "sharing previews," "optimizing" does not show up in the iTunes documentation or help files.
This process either needs to be improved, or at least documented so users can understand how to avoid these problems.

    1. Some people have reported slow syncing with anything but the iPad's own USB cable (e.g. using a US cable from an iPhone/iPod). Try different cables
    2. More work - disable iTunes syncing completely, then re-enable a bit at a time, e.g. one movie at a time, one playlist at a time, one photo album at a time. There are periodic reports of syncing issues caused by a bit of media that's been corrupted, and this (tedious) approach allows you to identify where the problem might be.
    3. If that fails, do a clean restore back to factory settings, then progressively re-enable syncing as above.
    Hope this helps

  • Issue: Ipad iTunes Wi-Fi syncing to wrong PC

On my Ipad, General Tab - iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, my Ipad wants to sync with an old PC.  How do I change this so it will sync with my new PC? I have authorized my new PC to sync with my Ipad. I see no options on the Ipad to change which PC it syncs with.  I have signed out of my Apple ID on my Ipad, shut the Ipad completely down and back up.  I've signed out of my Apple ID on my PC. I've disconnected my Ipad, reconnected to my PC and clicked sync; it goes through the synching to finish.  My Ipad continues to show the old PC: Sync will resume when "......." is available.   So now what?
Whether related or not, the last week my Ipad  App Store Icon has shown 8 updates but when clicking on app, then updates it shows nothing.  Could this be related?

I had this issue of not syncing over wi-fi & i have fixed this. Below were my devices,
    1. Windows XP Laptop
    2.ipad 2 with ios5.
Below are the steps to ensure wi-fi sync works.
    1. Connect your iPhone/iPad with USB cable to Computer where itunes installed.
    2. Click on the "device" icon in itunes, & in "Summary" Page, ensure you have enabled the option "Sync Over Wifi My Ipad / iphone"
    3. Disconnect the Cable,
You should be still able to see your ipad in itunes, if not, follow the below steps
    4. Enable Upnp in your computer.
    5. This link, will tell you, how to enable upnp in windows machine. --> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941206
    6. Restart your Computer
    7. Ensure SSDP service is running in Automatic mode.
    8. You should also ensure upnp is supported in your ADSL or Wi-Fi router.
    9. IN your router, under LAN settings (Advanced), there will be option of Upnp, enable this. Even if it is enabled, disable & enable it. Restart the router once.
9a. The Upnp & SSDP would take 10 minutes to discover the device. Have Patience at times .
Open iTunes & Power on your ipad, you should be able to see the ipad in itunes now. if not,
    10. Close your itunes & power off ipad.
    11. Restart the service called "Apple Mobile Device",
Open iTunes & Power on your ipad, you should be able to see the ipad in itunes now, if not.
    12. Disable Firewall & IPS in your Network Connections. Disable built-in Firewall & IPS in Virus Softwares. Ensure TCP ports 123 and 3689, as well as UDP ports 123 and 5353 are allowed. Refer to this link for more inputs --> http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4062.
    13. Close your itunes & power off ipad.
    14. Restart the service called "Apple Mobile Device",
Open iTunes & Power on your ipad.
This should be working now for sure shot. . I bet.

  • Like many others, I got the new iPad 3 and couldn't sync all of my photos.  The best i got was 1,000 out of 15,000 to work.  Today Apple released iTunes 10.6.1.7 and said the syncing issue was resolved.  I erased my ipod cache and hit sync.  Still locked.

Like many others, I got my new IPad 3 and could not sync all of my photos.  The highest I got was 1,000 out of 15,000.  Today Apple released iTunes 10.6.1.7 that , among other things, said it fixed the sync issue with photos.  I excitedly, erased my ipod cache and hit sync.  It looked like it was working, but just like before iTunes locked.  This time at 2,244 of 15,000.  Anybody have an idea of how to fix this?

What's the capacity of your iPad?
iTunes needs up to 3x of the actual size of the files you want to sync during the sync process. And syncing 15.000 photos could cross the size of the available free space on your device.
Don't forget that the pictures are now optimized for the retina display, so the size increases for each of them.

  • IPad syncing issues

Have two issues when syncing my iPad:
    1) iTunes thinks my iPhone and iPad are one and the same device, so when I sync my iPad, iTunes adds the new apps that I have on my iPhone.
    2) When I sync my iPad my iTunes U programs are erased. This happens whether or not I download them through the iPad or add them via iTunes. Other videos (movies, t.v. shows or podcasts) are not removed.
By the way, I have the "Manually manage music and videos" checked for both my iPhone and iPad.

Does the iPad sync with iTunes? With my iPhone – if I purchase a song or video on my phone – it syncs with iTunes and copies my iPhone purchases to iTunes under "Purchased on iPhone." However, on my iPad nothing that was purchased on the iPad syncs to iTunes. Why? is that normal?
In addition, Apple needs to add the function to stream iTunes to the iPad like it does between Macs. I should be able to purchase a video on my Mac and stream it to my iPad and watch it.
Edit: Just to clarify. I can't add any music, podcasts or videos from my iTunes library without erasing the movies that I purchased on my iPad. Since I can't sync them I assume they will be permanently lost.

  • IPad syncing issues, please help.

I know this is a long read, I appreciate you taking the time to follow the details to help me figure out what is happening with my iPad.
As a preface, I update the firmware to all my Apple software (including iTunes) and my MacBook OS (Snow Leopard) and my iDevices the day the updates come out, so all these issues occured with the current firmware.
A few weeks ago, I was syncing my iPad earlier to my MacBook via iTunes. The backing up step was going on for about 10 minutes and it only got 1/20 across the status / progress bar. I "X'd" out of that and just synced the rest of it without the backing up step.
Then I disconnected the device and reattached it. I went back and am re-syncing. The backing up step has been going for almost an hour and its only 1/5th across the progress bar. It is moving, but noticeably. If I put my mouse pointer icon on the end of the progress made so far, then come back and look at it 10 minutes later, it has made progress. So, it is backing up, but so incredibly slowly.
Anyone experience this before? Any idea what could be the cause or fix to this?
I left it for several more hours. In fact, I started the syncing around 6 pm, and went to bed around 11. It was only 3/4 to 4/5 done backing up by that point.
I left it overnight, and in the very early morning (6 or 7 am), it had the familiar and comforting "Sync Complete" message.
Still have no idea why it took so fookin long, or it it will happen again next time.
I don't think the problem is the issue pertaining to Zinio disrupting backups, as discussed here: http://imgs.zinio.com/faq/ipad.htm#backup because I already followed those steps.
Now, two nights ago, I updated the firmware. It only took a few minutes. I didn't notice until last night, some of my old movies that I handbrake'd into iTunes were no longer on my iPad. I had to go back into the Time Machine to retrieve them.
I re-synced the iPad. It took about 10 minutes doing step 1, backing up. However, it froze at about 95% complete. I thought it was just going slow again (last time was hours!), so I went to bed. I woke up this morning and it was still frozen. I ejected the iPad from the sidebar window and stopped the sync by clicking the little black "X" in the message window.
I shut down iTunes and restarted my MacBook. I re-synced and it skipped the Step 1, Backing Up and went in to Step 2. It completed the sync moving over the movies, but no photos or music.
I re-synced immediately afterward (after disconnecting and reconnecting the device) and got a message about iTunes not being able to back up my iPad due to another syncing in process. It still synced and this time it moved about 256 photos. Not sure why- maybe I had "Sync recent 1000 events" or something checkmarked in the iTunes Sync window.
I re-synced again immediately afterward (also disconnecting and reconnecting first) and got the same message about iTunes not being able to back up my iPad. It still synced the rest of the sync process, but this time it moved about a dozen songs around. I don't know why I each time I sync it does different things and I get the error messages.
My iPad seems to be giving me issues with syncing, anyone have any idea what is going on or how to resolve it?
    Thanks!

  • Syncing Issues between Ipad 2 and MacBook Pro

When we sync our ipad with our macbook pro we get over 100 errors for songs that won't sync to the ipad.  These are all songs we have purchased on itunes or downloaded from cd's.  Anyone encounter this before and have a suggestion on how to fix this?
    Thanks

The underlying issue here is that you have chosen to use POP3 rather than IMAP mail accounts. Only IMAP mailboxes are 'synchronized' by default: it is virtually impossible to synchronize POP3 mailbox content.
For a discussion of POP3, IMAP and mail synchronization options, take a look at the Mail & Address Book - Tiger forum located here.

  • IPad Syncing issues - what's the deal??

So I decided to download the movie "Heat" on my iPad (first generation) and purchased the movie for about $20.  After the download was complete I synced my iPad with my iMac / iTunes library.  The movie shows in my iTunes library as a purchased movie so everything is great, right?  Well, I then took a look at my iPad and saw that the movie was no longer in the Video section.  I thought it was odd but thought it might be a synching issue (for all the money Apple makes you would think they would get these simple things right, but I digress).  So I plugged my iPad into my iMac and decided to re-sync my library then this message came up:
"Could not download "Heat" to your iPad.  Your Computer is not authorized to play this move.  Please do to .... and authorize this computer blah blah blah"
But my computer IS authorized and have authorized and de-authorized it several times just to be sure.  So I started reading posts on this board and they said that the iPad can't sync movies in the format "M4V".  ***??  Are you telling me that I can download an M4V movie on my iPad but once it leaves the iPad it will never come back and that I'm out of luck?  Some forums mentioned renaming the M4V file to MP4.  That worked and I was able to synch my movie but are you telling me that there is no solution for this issue?
Dear Apple: I'm starting to dislike your products.  Things that use to be so easy have now become cumbersome.  I hope that this is not a sign of the company getting "too big" and stops caring.

Contact Lacie since it's their product you are having issues with.

  • How can I ensure the content in iBooks on my iPad also syncs with my mini iPad?

How can I ensure my content in iBooks on my iPad 3 syncs with the iBooks in my mini iPad?

If they are iTunes purchased/downloaded ibooks then as long as they are still in the store you should be able to re-download them via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app on the second device. For ebooks and epubs from other sources you will need to sync them - even though they aren't iTunes purchases you should be able to copy them from a device to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to the other device. You can then keep bookmarks and collections in-line between the two devices via Settings > iBooks on the two devices (the 'sync collections' will keep collections in-line between devices, but it won't copy the copy the actual ibooks between devices).
