ICA Download Error 609

After downloading a few images from my Canon S500, I keep getting the above error message for subsequent images. In iPhoto, they simply don't download. On a windows (ug) machine, no probs downloading. Any ideas?
Thanks!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I like laureate would like an intelligent answer to this question.
Until the latest update, of Aperture, I was able to download CR2 RAW files from my Canon EOS 5D. Now, when I attempt to download these file I get the 'ICA Download Error - 609'. If I shoot jpg the files download fine. Also, jpg files from a Nikon Coolpix P4 download fine.
CR2 RAW files are 4 to 6 times larger the the average jpg shot on the EOS 5D (10 -12 meg RAW vs 2- 4 meg jpg). The download seems to time out resulting in the error.
Anyone with an intelligent thought about this?
TIA, Scott

  • TS1424 Artwork download error -609

Having a problem tying to download album artwork I keep getting message unknown error (-609)

Perhaps try the "Error -609" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • Aperture erro -  ICA download error -45

Anybody know what this error might mean Apple has never heard of it, Google has never heard of it - do I get a prize for being the first to ever have it?
it occurs when I try to import pictures to Aperture.

A little more digging reveals that ICA is Apple's Image Capture Architecture - what Image Capture and other apps use for working with images.
I poked around the header files in the ICA framework, but there's no -45 errors. There is a -45 error that's just a standard Mac error: it's a "file is locked" error. Perhaps you have a file inside the Aperture library that became inadvertently locked, and now you can't import anymore.
Have you had Aperture crash recently, during an import perhaps? I'm not sure if rebuilding the library would help or not, but it seems like the root of your problem is a locked file that Aperture write access to before it can do another import. It could also be an ICA thing, where similarly it's trying to write to a file that's locked. Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge to say which it is, or what this file might be.
I suppose as a last suggestion, maybe launch Console (in /Applications/Utilities), and watch your console.log while you try to do an import. Maybe either Aperture or ICA is writing an error to the console that is more helpful than what Aperture shows you.

  • Itunes error (-609) when attempting to download artwork

I'm receiving the following message when attempting to download album artwork:
Artwork for XXXXXX could not be found. An unknown error occurred (-609)
MY first thought was that it was due to the artwork being unavailable, but i deleted the artwork for an album which i had previously downloaded. When i tried to re-download the artword, same problem. I can download track information, though.
This has occurred since updating to itunes 8.0.1.11
using 64 bit Vista. Never had this problem before...

I installed V8.2.0.23 created a new library. Added one album. Clicked on Get Album Artwork. Got unknown error (-609). Spent hours trauling the web to find a solution. Logging into iTunes store and signing out and restarting iTunes and the PC did NOT fix the problem.
Then I installed V6.2.1.6 only to find I still get the same problem.
Interestingly, if I run the diagnostics from the Help menu it tells me Internet Connection Failed. (which is bollox - because I have been browsing the web for hours to try and find a solution) But I wonder if it is linked.
I can't beleive how naff iTunes is.
Does anyone have a solution that actually works?

  • Receiving 'Unknown Error (-609)' when trying to download album artwork.

Hey all. The subject line says it all. When importing tracks from CD or other sources into iTunes, I get Unknown Error (-609) every time. My connection works, and I've only had this problem since updating to the latest version. The last time I had this issue, I updated and everything was fine but I can't update to a later version now.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this issue?

And before it gets suggested, I know full well I can use my internet browser to get artwork and copy/paste it that way. But as I'm in the middle of a stack of roughly 40 discs that I'm uploading, I have no desire to search out all of those album covers if it can be avoided.

Fixed :-) downloaded the lastest version from itunes again http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/download/ and clicked on repair.
Once completed everything was fine without a restart.

  • Help: error 609

    anyone can help?
I used to have a script like:
    tell application "Jar Launcher"
    open file "file"
    end tell
The "file" is a java application.
This script run well in Tiger, but turn out error 609 in Snow Leopard.
To check the java script, I run "java file" in terminal, it works. This means that the apple script is not correct.
    Can anyone help me out?

I'm still running Mac OS X 10.5.8 “Leopard”, not yet “Snow Leopard”. Nevertheless, I downloaded [Arachnophilia 5.4|http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia> to my desktop just to test Jar Launcher.
First, I checked that I could open the file “Arachnophilia.jar” just by double clicking on its icon. No problem (Jar Launcher is the default application to open the file).
Then I tried your script… and got an error alert:
    *tell application "Jar Launcher"*
    *open file "Macintosh HD:Users:pierre:Desktop:Arachnophilia.jar"*
    *end tell*
--> AppleScript Error — Jar Launcher got an error: Connection is invalid.
Then I found that I could easily open the application with the following statement :
*tell application "Finder" to open file "Macintosh HD:Users:pierre:Desktop:Arachnophilia.jar"*
    I hope this can help.

  • Unknown Error (-609)

I keep getting this Unknown Error (-609) since upgrading to the new version of itunes. It pops up eveytime i click download album covers. Can anyone help me fix it?

  • Error (-609) what is it? I cant get album artwork for half my library

i am trying to get album artwork but error (-609) keeps coming up and not allowing me to do so... Any answers??

    - Try contacting iTunes for the password problem:
Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us
    - For the other problem you can try a reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - The next standard thing to do is to download/install a new app but you cant 'do that.
    - Instead, try restoring from backup.

  • Error 609, "Get Album artwork" - doesn't happen

I haven't had problems with getting album artwork until now. I always make sure the artist and album are properly labeled and nothing else in iTunes is running. I now get error 609, where artwork won't download.

This solved itself when I upgraded to 10.5.8 and iTunes 9.0.2

    Thanks,

There's some info on your error message number in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • Download error in (osx) adobe desktop app (corrupted download link).

Here is a discription of the problem. Please consider that some of the wording might not be correct, as I do have to translate the error message from German into English.
Using OSX 10.9.2, when clicking inside the adobe desktop app (top of the screen bar) on the tap "apps", the following screen (screenshot) appears, which states, translated from top to bottom:
    download error
    download error. Please contact support.
    (link) contact support
(link/button) download creative cloud -> This button unfortunatly leads to the following error page "http://www.adobe.com/special/errorpages/404.html"
All apps, like Bridge, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. are installed and work just fine. So no problem here. I seem however unable to redownload the desktop app (in order to reinstall). As stated above the provided link inside the desktop app itself is coruppted and within the (online) web-based download centre (user logged in) I am only adviced to use the desktop app. This is a dead end and I do not know what to make of this error, let alone solving it. Please help!

I am sorry Romsinha but this doesn't really help.
I already restarted the desktop app and while I am obviously online and connected the problem (error message) remains the same. Information within the "home" tap is recieved/loaded  (little blue spinning wheel) stating that various apps recently have been updated. Yet the same loading wheel within the "apps" tap results in an error. My best guess is that some internal link within the app is corrupted, leading to a source on a server that can not be reached.
    UPDATE
I clean uninstalled adobe creative cloud as discribed in the article you provided (using the cleaner tool) and even uninstalled the browser plugin. After downloading and reinstalling creative cloud the problem however remains the same. "Apps" tap still shows the same problem. "Home" tap now displays the following:

  • "Download Error" - Can't download/install any programs.

I downloaded CC on my Win 8.1 machine (after a windows crash and upgrade to 8.1).  Previously it was working fine (on Win 8).  Now the CC desktop app connects to my account but the Apps tab has a red exclamation error and when you click the tab it says "Download Error."  and to "Please contact customer support."  (See below:)
Apparently this seems to be a prevalent issue as I see multiple threads and support requests with this same error.
I got on Chat and followed all the troubleshooting advice, uninstalled, reinstalled, used the Removal tool, deleted folders from the AppData locations, everything.  Finally was getting ready to do something else and the Adobe server disconnected my chat session.
I know it is not MY internet connection because everything else is up and running fine, including streaming radio progams and other chat programs.
I tried visiting something on Adobe's siteand received the following error:
So what is going on Adobe?  I need to get my programs back so I can get back to work.
Edited to add - After another hour of being on chat support I got disconnected again.  Same error:  "Sorry, we're having technical difficulties."

So after four hours and dozens of troubleshooting issues, I figured out what was wrong.  I am on a fixed-wireless system at home.  I have used this same system and network setup in the past for CC.  My average DL speeds are 2.0 Mbps.  Not super fast but it has worked in the past.  On the 3rd or 4th chat session I was told that you can't use wireless with CC and I need to be on a fixed wired connection.  Finding that as rediculous as possible, I decided to test my network.  I logged off and used my AT&T CELL PHONE as a hotspot (which gets me about 4.0 Mbps download speeds, albeit with a higher ping) and VIOLA the Apps tab is there and I can download programs.
