Ica scanner for epson expression 1600

My Epson Expression 1600 isn't working with the Lion system software. It cancels out using image capture. What should I do?

It should work, it's on the list: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#epson
I don't have an Expression 1600, but I do have an Expression 1680 that uses the same drivers and it works.

I use my MacBook Pro for business and it is vital that everything I use works properly. From what I've seen on these posts, I may be waiting a long while to upgrade.

People who need to SCAN & PRINT without a compatible driver from their manufacturer can use Apple's very basic "PRINT & SCAN" utility in System Preferences:
Click the Apple menu ( ), and then click System Preferences .
    Click Print & Scan ( ).
Click Scan , and then click Open Scanner .
Click Show Details . The details of the scan display, including options to modify scan settings such as output type.Figure 2: Example of the Show Details scanning screen

  • Lion incompatible with Epson Expression 1600 Scanner

I've tried everything the Epson site tells me to do. I've even emailed Epson back & forth, "speaking" with an Epson Rep. Ultimately, he said the problem is not with the scanner and to check the Apple website for updates. I find no updates on Apple's website for Epson scanners.
The scanner works perfectly fine with Snow Leopard (on another hard drive in the same computer, a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Dual-Core intel Xeon, with nothing new in Software updates) but I get error messages if I try to use Image Capture, Preview, or Photoshop in Lion.
    Can anyone help?

  • Epson Expression 1600 not recognized by Acrobat

I've been trying for a year to get Acrobat X pro to recognize my Epson Expression Scanner, but it never does. Frustrated that I have to scan in preview or scanning software then bring document into Acrobat. Frustrating. Please Help!

Nevermind. The Epson R220 works fine on the AEBS. Wrong USB cable was plugged into the AEBS.

  • Epson Expression 1600XL Scanner driver for Windows 8.1

I have an older Epson Expression 1600XL A3 size scanner. There's no driver for Windows 8 and 8.1 Pro. When I turn the scanner on (on USB), Windows tells me that it is an unknown device. I tried to let the scanner software run in various compability
modes and with administrator rights, but that does not Work. It tells me that "Epson scan cannot start" - probably because the content of the twain32 folder is wrong.
I was advised by Epson to get a an Epson Scan Driver package for another scanner that does comply with Windows 8.1.
The software Works, but it cannot find MY scanner on USB, - it looks only for the scanner the software is made for.
I was then advised to go here and find help for making the Scanner software recognise the scanner.
    Any suggestions?

You need to discuss this with the Epson Technical Support.  Based on information posted on the Epson Support website, the answer is probably "no":

  • How do I make my unsupported Epson Expression 800 artist scanner work in OS 10.5? Partitioning?

I have an Epson Expression 800 scanner which became non-functioning when I updated to OS 10.5. I have tried Vue Scan, doesn't work. Am wondering if I can partition my G4MDD HD and install OS 10.4 on it to get the scanner working again?
OS isn't noted below, but am running 10.5.8 on it right now.

since I backed my 10.4.11 system onto my external HD, do I need the physical disks for 10.3.9 in order to upgrade to 10.4 and so on onto the partition?
No. You may use a cloning utility  such a SuperDuper.
Can I just drag the folder that has 10.4.11 in it from my external HD to the partition as is, in toto?
No. Use the cloning utility. In this way, the hidden files, the unnecessary files and the proper links and such will all be taken care of to creat an identical, bootable volume.
Does this take a bunch of time?
The initial creation (duplication) varies on the size of the volume being cloned. From 15 minutes to an hour is common.
assuming I'm going to partition, do I need to set up a separate password, etc, to get to the new partitioned area I want for scanning?
If you clone, when you boot to the new partition, you will use the same password.
Even if you install new, you may set the same password.
then I would need to make it my startup preference, right?
Either that, or, hold Option (Alt on Windows keyboards) when you start up. This brings up the Startup Manager and allows you to choose which volume to boot to.
Also, is the folder that contains the backup of my old system enough as reference 10.4?
As long as the backup is bootable, you may clone it to another drive or even just boot to it.
Or do I need a physical installation disk for 10.4 or 10.3? Can the OS be updated just the same as my tower?
Consider each new hard drive or each new partition as another "computer". The thing is, all these reside within the same machine.
So, which each new drive or volume, you install and set up your OS as you did when you first bought and setup your computer.
All these new systems can reside in one machine. You may boot between them at will, but cannot run two (or more) at the same time.
If you use clone utilities such as SuperDuper, then you only need to install an OS and applications once.
After that, using the clone utility, you can recreate a duplicate at anytime, and use the utility to keep an identical backup, to which you may also boot.
Use the Startup manager to choose which you wish to boot to, and leave the Startup drive preference in the system preferences set to the drive/volume that you use the most.

  • Epson Expression 1680 Scanner & OS Lion capatability

hi. we upgraded to Lion on our workstations & just encountered this known issue with our Epson scanner - Lion doesn't support PowerPC, ran newest OS  updates, newest Epson software update still won't allow it to work. I know that I can use Lion's image capture   to make the scanner function, but I'd like to know whether image capture gives me an identical level of usability &  options. The Epson is for professional use at an art gallery; we scan high res for publication print quality, adjust colors & light, capture from transparencies & slides, we often scan multiple pages into one doc (if PDF), various file formats, etc.
Is anyone using their Epson 1680 scanner on this professional level with Lion? Is there any difference between Epson's software / interface and Mac's Image Capture to be aware of? Is  Image Capture as good?

I’m puzzled by your question. I have an Epson Expression 1680 and lost the use of Epson’s software, but find that Image Capture easily duplicates the minimal capabilities of the Epson software. I don’t miss the Epson software because there wasn’t that much to miss.
However, my Epson Expression 1680 was packaged with Lasersoft’s Silverfast, a professional level scanning software. Over the years, I stopped updating it because its expense didn’t justify my needs.
I’m not sure if you’re considering this packaged software as being Epson software, but the only thing the Epson software provided that is missing now is the ability to use the quick scan button on the front of the scanner.

  • Connecting Epson Expression 636 SCSI scanner to Mac Pro

I have an Epson Expression 636 scanner currently connected to a G4 867 Mirror Door via SCSI card.
The G4 uses 64-bit, 33MHz PCI, so as far as I can I tell, no go for installing into the Mac Pro, which uses PCI Express 2.0 x16 or PCI Express 2.0 x4.
I also don't think anyone makes a SCSI card for PCI Express 2 (not SCSI 2).
The scanner does also have a parallel port as well as a small 15 pin port (labeled "option") that I am not familiar with.
It's a great scanner and don't even know if the Silverfast software will work for it, but I'd like to clear my office of an entire computer that only gets used for the scanner!
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.
    TIA

First off, the 636 is NOT tabloid size.
I didn't say it was. I may have assumed it—if I mistook A4 for A3 or whatever—but I never said it. What I had in mind was my own *Epson Expression 836XL*, which is a in fact a vintage tabloid-size scanner.
Second, the 10000XL is not 15 years old.
I didn't say it was either; quite the opposite. It is a currently available model that serves as a replacement for my aforementioned, older, discontinued *Epson Expression 836XL*

Just a thought, even today's low-end scanners have better specs and capabilities than a scanner that came out nearly 15 years ago. And they cost about the same price as a new card or adapter.
What I was addressing is the fact that there are some excellent 15-year old scanners (such as my 836XL) that cannot be replaced that cheaply, in fact not by anything under $2,999.99 (i.e. below $3000).

  • SCANNER UPDATES FOR EPSON v500 not available for maverick?

OK - I updated to MAverick and have no scanner.  You know, the little white circle with the line through it, indicating that the woftware and drivers will not work on Maverick.  So, I went to Epson (I have Epson perfection v500 photo scanner), and they direct me to Apple Software Update at Apple Store.  The Apple Store has no update for the epson.  And, in an article, says that third party software need be gotten from the maker.  so, how do I update.  anyone know?  Since apple insists that all updates go through apple store, they should be up to date on everything as they try to corner this market.  a little upset.
    Thanks for any help.

    The message
"An OS X 10.9 compatible Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility for this model is not yet available but is coming soon. Please check back for availability."
Has actually been removed from the Epson sites.
Only the old drivers and the ICA Scanner driver (very limited and thus with poor performance) remained.
I think Epson is only interested in selling new stuff (look at the questionnaire they ask you to fill in when you visit their sites).
But the question remains: what to do with my precious EPSON PERFECTION V700 PHOTO scanner?
Buy a cheap WINDOWS machine and tranfer the results to my iMAC?
Weird, but in the given circumstances maybe the only workable fast solution with guaranteed results.

  • ICA Scanner Driver gives poor quality scans Epson Perfection 1660 Photo

The controls on the ICA Scanner Driver for the Epson Perfection 1660 Photo scanner are very crude, and it's difficult if not impossible to get the quality I used to get with the previous Epson Scan driver.  Where there used to be Levels, Curves, and Zoom controls, now there are only crude Brightness and Contrast sliders.  Is there any way I can get more control over levels and curves, and zoom in on an image to fine tune the cropping, like I used to do with Epson Scan?  Or will I have to  buy a current model scanner?  The Epson Scan program for the Perfection 1660 scanner is no longer compatible with Mac OS X 10.7.

I bought Vuescan 12 years ago, got the professional version. I have used it on Mac's and a PC or two. I have been through a dozen or more scanners over the years, upgraded OS's a hefty number of times as well.  And it still works like a champ.
Best $40 I ever spent.  (what it cost back then for Pro...)
You can go to his site, and try Vuescan for free before you buy.  Not a big software company, just a guy who loves scanners, and his son.  And he's been offering the software a long, long time, and updates the product constantly.

  • Which is better HP or Epson scanner for iMac 27"?

HP or Epson best scanner for iMac 27"?

    Put it this way:
I have a 6 year old Epson scanner that has sucessfully scanned 16,000+ photos, plus umpteen documents.
If for some reason I was faced with having to buy another scanner, Epson would be first place I would look. Canon would be second (love their printers), HP would be last.
Please don't ask me why, this is a purely subjective gut-feeling opinion!

  • ICA driver for Canon MX512 scanner?

I've exhausted Canon Support, trying to get a Canon PIXMA MX512 multifunction printer/scanner/fax machine to work on my father-in-law's dual 2.0 GHz processorr PowerMac C5.  They do have a printer driver, downliaded from their website, that allows it to work as a printer but the only driver for the scanner function is the TWAIN driver which only works on Intel processors.  They suggested that I try the scanner using Image Capture, but Image Capture doesn't recognize the scanner.  Canon does not have an ICA driver, and no plans to create one.  The frustration is that both the Box and the Specification sheet says that the Minimum System Requirements for the MX512 on Mac is "Mac OS 10,5,8, Intel Processor, PowerPC G5, PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) 512MB." Unfortunately on their website ONLY there is an "additional disclamer" footnote 18 which reads "System requirements vary by application"... a "cop-out" which really means that all the functions may not work on your computer, which means if it doesn't work, you're stuck with it!  Even the Canon support tech was frustrated after an hour working with me and consulting his co-workers and reference sources.  So.... does anyone out there know of an ICA scanner driver, canon or 3rd party that might work for this Canon MX512?  The frustration level is high.....

I'd see if the older version of VueScan works for the MX512, it mentions the MX510...

    Daniel Craigie-
How full is the hard drive that you are trying to save to? Not that it should matter, but have you tried scanning another document?
Is the scanner plugged directly into the Mac? Try it that way.
Disconnect all peripherals except keyboard, monitor, mouse and scanner and see if the problem goes away.
