ICal 4.0 Description Box

I just upgraded from iCal 2 to iCal 4. Gone is the side box called "Description" which has information about each event. I cannot find how to set it to open in
Preferences. I have to double-click on each event to see the description.
Is there anyway to have the "Description" box open on iCal 4 when the event is highlighted.
I suspect this is a common issue, did a search and could not find anything on it using my search terms.

There is no setting in preferences that will allow you to automatically see the event description.
The following keyboard shortcuts may be helpful for you when creating, editing, or reading event descriptions:  
(⌘ + E) opens the edit window  
(⌘ + I) opens the info window
  (esc) closes either window

ICal problem--an error box comes up an won't go away. I can't close the error box and I can't activate the calendar because the error box needs to be cleared. There is no place on the box to click in order to close it.

I have a problem that just affects iCal. An error box popped up when I was trying to past something into a new appointment. The box blocks me from using the calendar. I can't clear the error box. It has nowhere to click to close it. Nothing happpens when I right click it. I have force closed iCal, but when it reopens the error box is still there blocking any use of the calendar. There is no error number, just a copy of the text I was trying to paste.

Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

How to save the data present in the description box?

Since you are using the class CL_GUI_TEXTEDIT, you can call its' method GET_TEXT_AS_R3TABLE to save the text in internal table.
If you wan ease the work of creating Z-Table to store them, you may use FM 'SAVE_TEXT':

Can you cure this problem ... no text cursor is available in the description box for step 4 of eBay.co.uk selling

I use XP Pro SP3 + Firefox 16.0.2
Since yesterday, when trying to sell an item on eBay.co.uk, no text cursor is available in the description box for step 4, so it is not possible to enter text.
However, text can be entered into all the other text boxes on the selling page.
For comparison, using Internet Explorer 7, text can be entered into that text box.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

How do I make the photo description box larger, more than 2 line long.
Without hovering the curser over the description box.

"Add a description" box in iPhoto'11

In my old version of iPhoto '08, I was able to adjust the size of the photo information dialogue box to type and view a description of a photo. We were able to write paragraphs in the photo information "description" area. In the new version of iPhoto ' 11, I can not enlarge the "Add a description" more than the two lines that are visible. Is there a way to enlarge the "Add a description" so that I can see more than two lines?

ICal - long event description

Hi,
I have to somehow print/export event description of an iCal calendar. The issue I'm facing is that the event description is getting truncated.
I haven't found any way so far to be able to print out a calendar with full length event description. My need is to have a print out in a calender view but if there is no way to acheive this, a backup plan could also be to export the calendar in text. I haven't been able to do that either as the only calendar export option I found is still a iCal format that is not suitable for print.
Any help will be appreaciated,

I have the same problem and have used CalendarMaker for many years but it no longer works under ML. I've looked for a substitute but could not find anything. I use The Print Shop 2 but it imports the times for all day events which is useless.
A quick and dirty work-around is to create a calendar in iPhoto and delete all the photos and only print every second page with the calendar details on it.

How can I look at an iCal on a Windows box?

I'd like to be able to see my calendars at work. Is there way to do it?

Two options where you would only need to use a web browser:
(1) Google Calendar can read published iCal's. There's a ton of good info on using Google Calendar with iCal in this forum.
(2)You can use .Mac service to publish iCal's as a web page, and then view anywhere with a browser (of course, this is purely a view-only experience.)

Why can't I delete text in description box?

I have created few iphoto books and never had this problem before. I just updated my software. I insert the photos, add the description, then when I want to delete it, it just wouldn't let me. I cancelled the first project then created a new one, the same thing happened. Getting frustrated now!! :-/

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos, create a book and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

How to increase the iCal Alert Popup BOX height?

I would like to be able to increase iCal's Alert popup box to show more than two concurrent alert notifications at one time. Ideally, this popup box would dynamically size itself to the number of active alert notifications up to the available screen space. A second less elegant solution would be to enable the user to resize the iCal Alert popup box manually. A third even less elegant solution would be to statically redefine a new default height in terms of either active alert notifications or pixels. Anything would be better than the limitations currently in place...
Here is an example of three concurrent alerts. In this case, the user must scroll down within the iCal Alert popup box to see Alert #3.

If you want to use a textbox with muliple line items... you need to use Text Edit control. If you want to use that click on the following link for clear information:

ICal sync to Droid

I have a DROID Charge by Samsung and use iCal as my only calendar. Is there an app that would allow me to sync my iCal with my phone or the very least to view in on my phone?
I have read the articles about syncing to iCal to Google, but I was not successful with the process. It told me I have too much data, plus I want to keep my individual calendars.

Further to my last post, here are instructions for syncing iCal with your Google Calendar, taken from the Google Support site. It apparently is done from the iCal side:

HOw do I get Google calendar and ical on my Fascinate. I registered Google calendar on my computer with an authorization code but it does not show up on my phone.Also is there a way to make my phone "discoverable" for my apple computer to sycnh ical with my mobile device. Applescript to suck ical dates into iweb

I was referred to this forum from the iweb forum (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2513935&tstart=0).
Here's what I would like to do: I am an athletic director and would I have entered all of my school's athletic contests into iCal. I would like to set up something in which iWeb can pull the events out of iCal (I have mobileme) into a "week at a glance" type of display on our athletics page (made with iweb). Ideally it would automatically update so that as events are completed, the next events would show up. I don't want to embed a calendar.
I want something that looks like the table on the right of this page: www.twu.ca/athletics.
Is there an applescript that could help me pull dates from iCal into a text box in iWeb?

You may be able do this with an Applescript. However there is not enough information supplied to know.
How are ther events formatted in iCal? Do they contain the full name of the person? Do they say how old they are? Are the people already in Address Book, or would they all be new cards?

Get Rid of 'Would You Like to make iCal Your default calendar application'

Since installing the Plaxo 'helper' / Pref Pane - I now get the following message every time I launch iCal (and Address Book) ...
'Would you like to make iCal your default calendar application?'
Even when selecting 'Make Default' it still asks the next time. Is there a setting in com.apple.ical.plist (or similar) that controls this that I can look at, or is there a terminal command to try setting this another way?
I'm bothered a) why I get this at all - suspect Plaxo b) why I can't just set this the once. Any help gratefully received.
If it is Plaxo monitoring and then setting/changing a flag on the fly it's soon going to be heading for the trash....

OK, here I am answering my own question... It turns out there's another Discussion which has the following solution:
I had the same message pop-up. I quite iCal and then went to ~/Library/Preferences and trashed the apple.ical preference [plist]. After that, I re-launched iCal and checked the box in the message box and it took that time.
I tried this... we'll see if it works for me.
