ICal - affected by time changes / international travel !!!

Hi,
Recently, while abroad with my Mac's clock set to a different time, I loaded iCal with lecture, seminar, personal, and work times, dates, etc.
I just realised some of the times were wrong and spent ages correcting them. Then I noticed loads more of them were wrong. I realise that this was because I reset my clock??
Very, very annoying!!!
How do I avoid this next time or fix the problem now?
Half my times are correct and half are wrong....
Is this a common problem?
Thanks

If you are running RPTIME as a btach job, schedule the job to clear the PDC date on IT0003, just before RPTIME starts. You can customize the IT0003 update program to say that if the PDC date is before Sept '09, clear it, because you don't want the date to be reset for everyone, even it is after Sept '09.
Not allowing PDC date to set by changing the Infotype attributes will result in incorrect data.
For instance: In your case, you don't want to go back before September, but let's say there is a change in IT2001 in November which forces RPTIME to go back to October. If you set the attributes such that PDC date should not be set, your RPTIME will not pick up the updates made to IT2001. Hence when RPCALC runs, it will result in incorrect data.

  • ICal calendar sync -time change problem

It's happened again. We change our clocks and when I connect my iPod mini to my iBook it syncs the calendars BUT it moves the time of every event up one hour. My 9 a.m. appointments are now 10 a.m. and so on. I've tried changing the default time zone in iCal, changing event times. Nothing helps.

I've had the same problem with a few iPods...
    Solution:
Connect the iPod, go into preferences in iTunes for the iPod and UNCHECK the sync calendars option
Next, open the iPod in the Finder, TRASH the entire calendars folder, Empty the Trash....
Now, go back to iTunes and REcheck the option to sync calendars. iTunes will replace the calendar files on the iPod with the correct times.
I have NEVER had to reenter all of the repeating events using this method. Takes about 2 minutes.

  • On iCal,how to change the travel time mode from car to foot?

on iCal (Mavericks), how to change the traveltime mode before an event ? i only have the "time" choice with "5 min, 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 2 hours". I would like to choose  "foot/walking" , "car" or "Train/bus".

America is only one of 197 countries in the world. So if you do not use a bike, your feet or public services to travel so, maybe 196 other countries do it :-)

  • If I change the name of my internal Hard drive how will it affects my time machine backup

Hi can anyone tell me the answer to this please?
My mates Hard drive is called Ian's HD and he wants to change it to My HD will it affect the Time Machine backup?

    Thanks so much.
That's what I thought but it's always best to get a second opinion.

  • International travel and multiple-day events with time zones

I can't see how I can set an international travel easily as one event, e.g. from 2010-01-11 20:30:00+11:00 to 2010-01-11 07:10-10:00. I can set both as in one Time Zone, but that is not what I want. I want to set as my itinerary from a travel agent says, e.g. the start and end in different Time Zones. Although I can enter the departure and arrival as two events, that is not what I want to do. The air travel is one event, not two.
Also, I often want to set schedules for multiple-day international meetings using the local time of the meetings while my iCal is still in my own Time Zone, but this is not possible. As soon as I select All Day in a new event, the Time Zone option disappears. Of course, I can change my iCal Preferences to use the target Time Zone (instead of my local one) and then set the meeting schedule, but this is not what I want to do. I want to be able to select a different Time Zone for multiple-day events while I am in my own Time Zone.
These are rather common problems in any internatioanl businesses I suspect. It would be really handy to tie iCal with travel itinerary applications. If this is possible, I also would be able to get the information directly from travel agents in iCal format and it is a great potential for developing such applications.
Does anyone know whether these are possible in iCal or whether Apple may be working on it?
I also can't find a Feature Request for Apple, to ask about it. Does anyone know where to find it?
    Thanks.

I just didn't get the context here. Do you want to display multiple rows within one Outlook calendar event? If yes, I think it's impossible.
Please reattach the sample which will be very helpful for others to understand your requirement, then possibly provide a solution.

  • ICal event times changed when my mac updated time to daylight saving time

When my mac updated its time automatically to daylight saving time, the timed events in iCal all had an hour added to them. Time zone support is off in iCal. I tried changing my time zone from the system preferences (just to see what happens) and the iCal times also change. Is there any way to turn off this ridiculous and useless (to me) feature? I travel quite a bit and all iCal events are always added in local time scheduling. So there is no need for the event times to change when I change time zone!
    Thanks!

I am having the same problem but it's only some of the appointments that were changed. I think some were entered after the update and perhaps those weren't changed. Very confusing.

  • Since Time Change, iCal and iPhone Calendar Time Are All Messed Up

Ever since the most recent daylight-savings time change, I noticed all events I created in iCal, when synced with my iPhone, became an hour off. If I edit the event on the iPhone, it stays the correct time on my iPhone, but when it syncs with iCal again, the time on iCal goes off by another hour, even though the time for the event on the iPhone stays correct. (Hopefully that makes sense) Has anyone else experienced this problem? It is incredibly annoying, because now I have no trust in any of my calendar entries as to what the correct time is.
As an example: I created an event for Sunday the 16th on iCal on my Mac for a 1-hour soccer game from 8:00PM - 9:00PM. When I synced my iPhone, I noticed a few days later that the event on my iPhone now said the event was from 9:00PM - 10:00PM...one hour off! I edited the event on my iPhone, and re-synced. Now my iPhone has the correct time (which I manually edited on the phone) but iCal now says the event goes from 7:00PM - 8:00PM. Again, an hour off, but in the reverse direction (an hour off early, rather than late). When I sync now, even though the times on the iPhone and the times on iCal don't match, they do not change...it's as if either the computer or the phone didn't recognize daylight savings time or something, and thinks it has the correct time for the event. Both my Mac and my iPhone's clocks do display the correct time and date, however, so it's not like the system clock is off. It is completely bizarre, and I entered my entire teams schedule this way, so ALL games were off, and now is completely screwed up. Please help.

Yes, I did. I posted an identical post in the iPhone forum since no one answered here. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1791145&tstart=0
The first reply solved the problem. It involved the Time Zone setting in iCal Advanced preferences for me.

  • ICal on iPad no reflecting daylight savings time change correctly

i have my iCal on my iPad to auto update with daylight savings, however, the start times are all ok, but the end times do not reflect the time change. am i missing something?

I fixed this problem by going to system preferences--mail, calendars--and turned off time zone support. When my iPhone didn't change time for daylight savings, i had changed the time manually and apparently this moved my time zone from SF to Anchorage. After disabling time zone support, all my appointments were correct. You can also disable tim zone support withon the iCal application on a mac.

  • ICal and iCloud Calendar Appointments Problems Following Daylight Savings Time Change

This morning following the daylight savings time change, I noticed that some but not all of my appointments had shifted forward an hour. Strangely enough, some are correct on the iCloud calendar but are still not correct in iCal. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Here's another anomaly: the info panel is showing the correct time while the calendar view is not! I have turned off time zone support in both iCal and the iCloud calendar. It's so frustrating when you rely on these tools--especially for appointments--and you find that you can't trust them to be accurate!

    samdale67,
Have you had any luck fixing this problem yet?
I just noticed today that my iCloud calendar is consistently one hour behind my iPhone4s calendar. It's as if my iCloud calendar never got the Daylight Savings Time Spring Forward message. The iPhone, on the other hand, updated to DST right on schedule. It's annoying because I'm starting to use my iCloud calendar and would like the time change to be applied.

  • ICal Web Publishing Error, UK time change

We publish booking availability for our village hall via ical onto the hall's website.
During October 2010 the " We're Sorry" Apple error message was encountered and put down to problems associated with the UK summer/winter time change.
The problem then disappeared for some weeks - the calendar published to the web site without a hitch.
    Now it has re-occurred.
Have Apple made a decision to remove the web publishing feature or is it just another technical hitch?

    Hey Christos,
I'm not sure if that is possible  with the plugin, but I will double check. If you are just looking to do some basic monitoring and control, using a web service might be better suited in this case, since it is lighter and can serve actual web pages instead of relying on a plugin. Feel free to check out our Web development community group, try some of the examples, and post to our discussions: https://decibel.ni.com/content/groups/web-services

  • Ical after time change

After this time change on Sunday, Mac set the time correctly and everything, but iCal shifted everything an hour back (i.e. an event for 8:30 is now scheduled for 7:30). I was able to fix it easily enough, but it was frustrating and wondering if there was anyway to prevent it next time. Also, since that Sunday, iSync deleted everything off of my phone's calendar and now won't sync at all. They could be unrelated, but it seems unlikely. Any advice?

    Hi
I am having the same problem except I cannot fix it. All my appointments on my phone are the correct time but all my appointments on iCal are an hour earlier. I tried synching them using isync and it said it was changing over 5% of things in iCal but there is no difference .
How do I sort this out as it is really annoying. is this an iCal bug?

  • HOw do I fix the fact that ical jumped (almost) all my events post daylight savings time change an hour ahead?

A few weeks ago I noticed that everything past 3/8 was an hour ahead, and I assumed once daylight savings time changed it would all jump back. It hasn't, and I don't know how to continue scheduling events or if I should change them all.  I read that (a few years ago) the suggestion was give it 24 hours to adjust??

I think this problem is more complex. Background - UK clocks went back at the end of October; the USA went back one week later. I am in the UK and my Outlook calendar contains appointments created in the USA.
Someone in the USA created a recurring appointment before any clocks went back. In Outlook everything is correct. The meeting times are the same each week except for the one week between the two clock changes when, quite correctly, the meeting shows up one hour earlier. When I sync with my iPhone, the meeting shows at the same time every week regardless - this is incorrect.
Someone in the USA created a recurring appointment in the week after the UK clocks went back but before the USA clocks did. Outlook correctly shows the first occurrence as one hour earlier than all the following occurrences. Unfortunately - and this is the really nasty bit - the iPhone shows ALL the appointments one hour earlier than they should be. The only one that is correct is the first one.
This is a nasty bug and something that Apple needs to fix.

  • Some question about International Travel

Ok so i know alot of people have question about international travel weather is USA to Canada, Canada to USA or where ever.
So i just got off the phone with someone from AT&T these are my questions for them. i hope it can help, im confuse myself.
*1. I travel recently travel to canada a few weeks ago, when i cross the boarder i switch the data roaming ON and it picks up Rogers Wireless, a few days ago i try i again it said NO SERVICE is something wrong with my iPad?*
NO, consider yourself lucky u didnt get charge for that roaming, your ipad well not work out of the US unless u buy one of our International plans that AT&T has provided. The reason for this is so you wont have any unwanted charge or high charge on your bill.
*2. If i was to buy a sim card from Canada and pop it in to my US ipad well it work?*
Honestly that's something you can try at your own risk, it's design for AT&T so by switching sim cards it may affect your ipad such as running slow, virus, crash. You can try it, i dont work for Rogers so i know nothing about them, i work for AT&T so i can only tell you about our plans and i wont lie to you.(I THINK U JUST DID) This ipad is not unlock just like the iphone so it well only work with AT&T.
*3. If i pop my sim card out and put in an international sim card well it affect my plan at all or in any way?*
Yes it can, right now your on the unlimited plan if you put in a different sim card and then re-put in ur AT&T one chances are you're going to loose your unlimited plan and have to settle for the newer plan. That's why AT&T has reduce it's international plans so people are more likely to use it. It's a contract we sign with Apple, if u want to use in canada you can always buy an Ipad in canada and use their plan. (***)
At the end of this conversion i was just more angry with them. All in all she told bottom line is dont do anything stick with AT&T and pay for international plans. So i have to pay over price data plan if i want to use it intertanional? or i have to buy an ipad for each international places i go to?
Has anyone try or done any of the 3 ive mention and did it affect ur plan or ipad in anyway?
    Thanks
    Andy

Ok so here's a little more info
I called AT&T again today asking them the same question the guy was more helpful then the one yesterday. Even though he kinda told me the same saying that the ipad need to be unlock. , Afterward he transfer me someone from Apple. The lady told me
    1. The ipad is UNLOCK so dont bother trying to get it unlock.
    2. she doesnt see why sticking in another sim card from one of the apple ipad carrier is a problem. U would just have to sign up activated it like u would when u first got it.
    3. Contact phone company (my case Rogers) to see if they carry the mico sim cards.
    4. She doesnt see why it would affect the current plan u have now.
So at the end of all that she told me, seem like AT&T is just telling you, you cant do this or u shouldnt do that is simple THEY WANT YOU TO USE THEIR PLANS.
so with that i said i just want to let everyone know. I'm gonna go pick my Micro sim cards from Canada in a bit and sign up for thier plan we'll keep everyone updated if anything change or how it work

  • ICal: editing event times broken

Can anybody confirm the following iCal behavior:
Create new event in iCal, try to edit the time to let's say hour 10.
If you type quick - no issue,
    BUT
if you pause a bit between the 1 and the 0 (let's say 2 seconds) ...
then iCal automatically expands the 1 to 01 and then the 0 to 00 and you end up having the event starting at midnight, not at 10.
(by the way, have more severe issues with internet access and secondary mouse button releasing automatically after 3 seconds when using my foot switches attached via swifty USB switch interface http://www.orin.com/access/swifty/)

Dennis, it's not you. iCal has handled time zone changes like this for some time now. As far as I can tell, Apple considers this a feature, not a bug. You see, iCal is trying to be helpful, so if you're normally in the US/Eastern time zone, and schedule something for noon, if you travel to the US/Pacific time zone, it will show the same event at 9:00 am. Technically, the same time is maintained, but unfortunately, 90% of users don't want this adjustment made for them because we don't think about time that way.
The above describes how iCal works with Time Zone Support OFF. Yes, even with Time Zone Support OFF, it auto-adjusts times when you change time zones.
When Time Zone Support is ON, it basically works the same way, except that instead of all your events being associated with one time zone (e.g. US/Eastern), you can assign different a time zone to each individual event (e.g. US/Pacific or US/Mountain). When Time Zone Support is OFF, iCal still assigns time zones to each event, but it's hidden from the user.

  • Outlook sync after Eastern Standard Time Change-All events are 1 hour late

After sync'ing with outlook this past weekend, all my iphone calendar events are 1 hour late. the Eastern Standard Time change must have affected this. The time on my phone and my laptop are the same however. Anyone experienced the same issue?

I had a similar problem with iCal, my Treo 650, and Missing Sync. I found a solution on the Missing Sync website that worked for me -- see my post at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5453855&#5453855.
