ICal Alerts Coming From Wrong Email Address

I'm on OSX 10.8.2 on an iMac.
I have about 10 different email accounts in Mail.
I also have an Address Book card set to myself, designated properly as me, with two of these 10 emails listed in the card for me.
In iCal, one of my calendars is a Google calendar synch ... I get invites that are imported into Google Calendar, and these in turn get synched with iCal.
Problem I'm having is this... when a Google Calendar entry is set to alert me by email, the email GOES to the right place, but it shows as coming FROM one of my many other email addresses I have in Mail, and I don't understand why.
So again, I receive the email alert at the right place -- the problem is who the email alert is coming FROM.
As my Address Book entry is correct, I don't see how I can control this.  In Mail, when I compose new messages normally it's set to choose the email address automatically of the inbox I'm composing the message from.  So, I don't want to set the default here to any one specific email address.  Could this be causing the issue?

I was having trouble setting the default email account in the mail app. Even moving it to the top didn't seem to work. Finally got it working by doing this:
If an account mailbox is at the top, but the account is not the default, drag it down and then back up to the top. This will reset the order and establish the top one as the default.

  • ICal sending invites from wrong email address

My Mac has an Oedipus complex: Whenever I send an invitation from my Calendar on my iMac, it appears to be sent not from my email address but from my mother's address. (She doesn't even use my computer.)
So far, all of the settings seem to be correct:
In Calendar, Preferences / Accounts setting correctly lists my email address.
In Contacts, the "Me" card correctly identifies itself as me, with my address.
In Mail, Preferences / Accounts setting correctly lists my address.
Also in Mail, Preferences / Composing correctly lists my address under the "Send new messages from" field.
In the iCloud system preference and the iCloud website, my correct address is the only one listed.
In none of those settings does my mother's address appear.
The only think I can think of is that I gave her my old iPad for Christmas and reformatted it using her email address as the default account. That's the only time I've ever entered her address in anything. She doesn't have her own Apple ID, so I synced it using my iTunes.
Facetime now insists upon listing her address as one of my available accounts, so I'm thinking one of the Apple settings somewhere considers her address to be my newest. How do I fix this?
    Chuck

my iphone just stopped connecting to my wifi and i have tried all the recommended troubleshooting with no success. Also when i send a text , it shows it coming from my email address instead of my cell #.  i dont receive any text going to my cell #. help

If i understand what you are saying then you are seeing the WiFi indicator after connecting but Apps are saying that they are not connected to the internet?
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be to restart your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • Since updating to Iso 6 my iMessages are showing as coming from my email address, anyone know how to fix this?

Since updating to Iso 6 my iMessages are showing as coming from my email address, anyone know how to fix this?

I figured out my problem...... I have custom text tones set up for certain ppl and had the default text tone set to "none" well with the iOS6 update it made it so if your default text tone is set on "none" then you won't hear what I call the send and recieve text sounds when in a converstation... if you change the default text tone to any text tone other than "none" you will get your send and recieve sounds back.... kinda annoying if you don't won't random texts from ppl waking you up... so I made a custon text tone that is called silence with just recording a few seconds of dead noise then edited it and turned all the sound levels down to 0 and set that as my default text tone.... now I have the send and recieve text sounds in a conversation and everything is fine! Sorry Nehucskter the first time I had this problem thats the first thing I did was reboot my phone.... first thing you do for everything lol....

  • IMesssage has stopped using my cell phone number and is only showing email addresses -- in other words, when I text, it is showing up as coming from an email address, even when i use my phone.   Laptop

iMesssage has stopped using my cell phone number and is only showing email addresses -- in other words, when I text, it is showing up as coming from an email address, even when i use my phone.   The laptop and phone are still synchronized and messages are showing on both devices.
I've seen this before and was able to fix in Settings, but that is not working now.
    Please help.  Thanks.

Did you replace your iPhone with some other kind of phone? If your phone number is no longer connected to an active iPhone, you can't use it to message from your Mac.

  • I recently had to erase my Iphone 5s. Now, when I send texts, it shows them coming from my email address.  I'd rather it just showed them coming from my phone

I recently had to erase my IPhone 5S, and now it's been restored, and when I text, it shows my messages coming from my email address rather than from my phone # or my name, like they used to be shown.   How can I change this setting back to the way it was?   Thanks

It doesn't offer me "start new conversations from".
I presume you can see "You can be reached at ...", so do you only see your email there? (i.e. no phone number?)  If so, then the "send from" may not be an option since your iPhone only has one point of contact, your email.
If you don't see your phone number under "You can be reached at ..." then sign out of iMessage and FaceTime, then send a text message to any non-iOS friend you know, then sign back into iMessage and FaceTime.  That may re-establish your phone number with Apple's servers.

  • IPhone sending from wrong email address

Since loading OS7, my mail arbitrarily started sending from my gmail account instead of my primary mail account. Even after ensuring my primary was designated as such, reloading outgoing server password and turned OFF the mail function on my gmail acct, all outgoing messages are still from my gmail address. This is really frustrating as clients are beginning to reply to emails to the wrong address. Please help!

If you haven't already, I would open Mail> then click on the word "Mail" in the upper left corner of your screen>Preferences>select the "Composing" tab>in the line that reads "Send new messages from:" click on the arrows at the end of the line to open the dropdown box>select the email Account in the list that you want to be your default account for sending mail from.  That should solve the issue.

  • Mountain Lion Mail - Replying From Wrong Email Address

    Hello-
In Mountain Lion Mail, when I click reply to an email, the FROM filed is the same account the email was sent to.
If I have a rule applied to a message that delivers it to a different folder when it arrives, if I click reply, it uses my default email address, and not the email address the message was sent to.
To be clear, if I hit reply to a message that doesn't have a rule applied, then the action works fine, and it uses the email address it was sent to.
The problem only happens when I have an incoming email routed to a different folder in Mail, based on a set rule in preferences.
Driviing me crazy of course. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I reported this problem to Applecare and reached a CPU Senior Technical Advisor (2nd level support), who was able to duplicate the problem.  He reported the problem to Engineering, which got back to him with the following information:
Engineering was aware of the problem
No decision had been made regarding when or if the bug will be fixed.
He suggested that I also report the problem to <http://www.apple.com/feedback/>, which I have done.
I would like to suggest that the other poster to this thread also report the problem through the feedback page (pick the Mac OS X option and select Mail on the feedback form).  The more people who report this, the sooner Apple is likely to fix it.
Here is what I wrote in part: "The reply function does not work properly in Mac OS X Mail when I reply from any mailbox other than Inbox.  When I reply to an e-mail that is in any other mail box other than Inbox, Mail selects the default e-mail account to put into the "From" field instead of the e-mail account to which the original e-mail was sent.  This worked properly in Snow Leopard and Lion, but is broken in Mountain Lion."  I also gave the Case # of my report to Applecare.

  • When i text it is coming from my email address

when i text, the text is comeing form my email... how do i get it to go back to my phone #?

Settings > Messages > Receive At > Apple ID.

  • Text message is showing sent from my email address instead of phone number

I just reset all my settings on my Iphone 4s and now when I send text messages my friends say it is coming from my email address not my phone number. Why is that? Any advice on how to get it back to normal (from my number not email?)
    Thanks in advance!!!

I assume your phone is using your phone number. Select an E-Mail also. Under the Select Area a new Area should show up offering to choose whether to use the number or the E-Mail to start new conversations. Pick the Phone number. Go to iMessage and start new conversations.

  • My phone was knocked about and now iMessages are received by my contacts from my email address and not my phone number. 1- Have imessages always been sent by my email address and i somehow over looked this? 2- if not how to change it back?

diesel vdub or ANY uncertified/certified Genius
Heres my problem. I dropped my iphone 4 s and now when I send an sms, if it goes as an imessage the recipient says its coming from my email address & not my phone number. 1- how can i change it back but also 2- is imessage usually sent from phone number and not email correct? Should I re-sync my phone? Additional info: iMessage says I can be reached for messages at 2 addresses, my phone and email, the email cannot be removed. PLEASE HELP IM OCD ABOUT MY PHONE AND THIS ISSUE IS DRIVING ME MAD!
    helplessandhopeful,
    Hannah

To identify your iMessages as coming from your phone number go to Settings>Messages>Receive At>Caller ID and select your phone number rather than your email address.  Also, the email can't be removed because this is the email address linked to the Apple ID you are using for iMessage.  If you really want to remove it you have to go to Settings>Messages>Receive At, tap the Apple ID at the top and sign out.

  • Why does my phone say a call is from an email address

When my sister calls or texts or face times me it shows up as coming from her email address instead of the phone number associated with her iPhone 4s. When I text her phone number it does not register as iMessage but when I text her email address it does show iMessage. Similarly, I can FaceTime with her via her email address but not her phone number. Lastly, when I factime or text her email address it shows up on both her iPad and iPhone when she is on wifi. What is going on? This seems really really strange to us.

Is her caller ID set to her phone number in Settings/FaceTime/Caller ID ->her phone number instead of her mail address?
