Ical all day appointments missing

I have two macs and two ios devices.  All-day appointments are synced correctly with iCloud on the iOS devices, but not on one of the macs.  If I uncheck "all day" the event will appear on all of the devices.

Try creating a new calendar in ical.
Set the iphone only to sync to that calendar replacing all calendar data on the iphone.
put an all day event in the new callendar and sync it to the iphone.
If that does not work, create a new user account on your computer, and try the same thing.
Hope this helps.

  • Ical: won't make all day appointments on my mac but show up in iCloud..Help?

I can make appointments (using my mac air)  in ical if there is a time attached but not all day appointments. The all day appointment does show up in my iCloud calendar and in fact syncs to my iphone and ipad. But can't get it to be visible in ical on my mac air. Can anyone help?

If the old account was or had been upgraded to an iCloud account as you seem to be implying, you should be able to add it back to your mac as a secondary account (system preferences > mail, calendars & contacts. This should cause both accounts calendars to show up in iCal (click the calendar button -top left corner- to confirm this. Then you should be able to copy the calendars across to your new account by following the instructions below.
Create a new empty calendar from the iCal file menu, select which account you want to create it in.
If you have only a few appointments you can move them individually by editing them and changing the calendar in the edit options.
Alternatively you can copy all the appointments in one calendar to another and delete the original.
To copy a calendar ctrl-click on it from the menu that appears when you select the calendar button (top left corner of iCal) and choose export (export it to your desktop for ease)
Double click the exported file and choose the new empty calendar to import them into.
Ctrl-click on the original calendar from the menu that appears when you select the calendar button and choose delete.
I'm guessing the reason your calendars show on your phone is because that account is enabled as a secondary account there.

  • Plaxo calendar sync problem with ALL-DAY appointments

I keep my main calendar on a PC using Vista/Office/Outlook 2007. (Don't ask -- best for work.)
I use Plaxo (great stuff) to keep my Mac (used for all home computing) and iPhone synced.
Works great, except any appointment that is an ALL-DAY appointment (like holidays and birthdays) shows up on the iPhone ONLY as two appointments -- one on the right day, and an identical one on the following day.
The appointments are CORRECT (not duplicated) anywhere else but on the iPhone. iCal has them correctly, Plaxo has them correctly. But something gets messed up during the iPhone sync.
I've done everything I can think of. I've wiped my folders off Plaxo and re-created from Outlook on the PC. I've wiped the calendars out of iCal to start fresh. I've told the iPhone to re-load everything from iCal new on the next sync. And I've done all of these things together. Still no fix.
Any ideas? Anyone else seeing the same thing?

On Mac: Go to Plaxo system panel for configuration, and click "check now." Confirms that I have the latest software.
Go to Plaxo, and DELETE all folders. Confirm that I have nothing on Plaxo at all. On Mac, DELETE all calendars (leaving just an empty calendar) in iCal, and DELETE all address book entries.
Go to PC running Outlook. Go to Plaxo manager and re-configure to upload all my contacts and calendar entries to Plaxo. Confirm that this happens fine.
Go to Mac and re-establish sync point. Sync, and confirm that all address book and contact entries come across.
Note that on Mac iCal and Plaxo, all-day entries like birthdays are fine and not duplicated.
Go to iTunes. Sync iPhone, clicking options to completely replace address book and contact info.
Confirm that all-day appointments STILL show up as all-day appointments on proper day and immediately following day.

  • MfE All day appointments problem

    Hi,
Mail for Exchange seems insistent on converting all day appointments in Outlook to appointments lasting from 00:00 till 23:59 on my handset. Also it doesn't always sync the status (Free/Busy/Out of Office) properly.
Is this a known issue that is likely to be remedied?
    Cheers,
    Ian

No such issue when I am using MFE so far..
Your automatic update, was it switched to on? If yes, disable it and try again.
Also check on your clock's timezone to see if it's correct for your region.
Lastly, check with your IT guys to see if there's anything wrong with the server settings if all else fails..

  • ICal "all day events" separator bar

Is it possible to adjust the "all day events" separator bar in iCal in the Daily or Weekly view.  When you have more than 6 all day events on one day a scroll bar appears, and it's not possible to view all of the all day events at once.  I know that this sounds like nit-picking, but I've developed a work-flow where I would like to look at all of the informaiton at once without extra clicks or scrolls, or to glance at the information without having to bring the application to the surface, or make it the active application.
Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the separator bar to allow the user to see more then 6 all day events in the weekly or daily iCal views
Another ideal solution would be additions to the View or the Preference options that would allow the user to view all of the "all day events" and have the separator bar automatically adjust.
    thanks,

I agree with you...  this used to be a flexible field and would handle infinate "all day" events.    To answer your question...  no, you cannot adjust this field.  I too use this for business and really need to view all the "all day" events.  I've been forced to use the daily view and put a date notation in the "location" field to know when the event ends.  It's the only way to see everything.
I found a nice little calendar program SaiSuke but Apple doesn't play well with others.  You can enter into the iCal or iCloud calendar program and it will seemlessly appear through iCloud into the SaiSuke calendar.  But Apple will not release the information allowing SaiSuke to talk back to iCloud.
Basically what I'm saying is it's a one way conversation between SaiSuke & iCloud, it can bring data in but not return data back.  So if you enter a new event in SaiSuke it will not be anywhere other than the iPhone or iPad you entered it on, it cannot make it back to iCloud without plugging your phone in and doing a manual Sync.  Of course this process will produce duplicate events.
So unless someone out there has more knowledge ...  and you want to have your events be the same on multiple platforms (phone, pad & desktop) we are stuck with using their iCal product.  Apple calls this progress.

  • ICal all-day event problem

iCal on my iPad worked fine for a while. Now, many of my all day events (but not all of them) are showing up a day early on my iPad on week view. Everything is fine on all other devices (iPhone, MacBook) and all is fine on iPad on day, month and list view. All timed events are in the right place. But all day events in week view are a disaster and turning off the iPad isn't helping. Any advice?

Did you travel out of your home time zone and first notice the problem then? I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Apple Care while I was in the Central zone (I live in Eastern) and nothing the supervisor suggested worked (deleting the account, resetting, turning ipad off, etc). They'd bumped me up to a supervisor because the regular guy had no idea. Supervisor said no one on the internal tech board had seen that particular problem. The final assumption was it was a software glitch on my ipad--the advice was a complete restore which was going to have to wait until I returned home because he said it would take too long over the Verizon mi-fi I was using while traveling. Anyway--I got home to Eastern time, immediately pulled out the ipad to do the restore and all the all-day events were in the right place and have remained in the right place since then. My best guess is that it's a time zone issue but it doesn't make much sense. All my timed events stayed right where they were supposed to be the whole time (time zone support turned off).

  • ICal all-day event default time error

Searched this discussion and others but no help there. When I create an all-day event in iCal (time zone support on, set to America/Los Angeles)it reads as Casablanca, Monrovia when synced to Entourage. Due to corp policy I'm sync'ing with Outlook Exchange server via Entourage, sync'ing Entourage with iCal, iCal with MobileMe and MobileMe with iPhone. All works just fine in regular events ... only all-day events have this incorrect default time zone.
    Any ideas?

I have the same problem. All day events created in iCal sync to the Exchange server as Casablanca time zone, which I believe is the same as GMT. Events created in Entourage sync without error. Most events created on a PC with Outlook sync fine all the way through to iCal. This seemed to start about the same time as your post, ie sometime around November. Prior to some time in the fall, all day events sync'd properly. I've posted this topic to the mactopia entourage forum but I haven't gotten a response there yet.
I'm using iCal 3.0.6, Entourage 2004 11.4.0, Mac OS 10.5.6. Any thoughts anyone? Apple?

  • ICal: "all day" checked by default

Another problem caused by updating OS to Yosemite:
anyone knows about a possibility to have new entries in iCal as "all day" events by default?
To change the duration to 24h is not the solution - new events will start a 0900 and end on the next day at 0900.

This is still a problem in Calendar. It is very irritating and is another example of how Mac "improvements" are actually "disimprovements". There was never this problem, among others, with Entourage.
I notice there has been no answer to this, is there any chance of getting one?

  • Problems with mobile me ical all day events sync between desktop and iphone

I just noticed all of my all day events show up one day earlier on my iphone than what they are on ical on my desktop (which is correct). This includes both subscribed events and one I have entered. Any ideas on a fix, it is rather annoying at this point.

Hi. Sorry I don't have the answer. Just another person with the same problem. Must be a bug that needs fixing. Thanks for pointing out that the List view works. Although, when I click on the individual diary entries from the list view the event details show up the incorrect date and time. My entries are all 19 hours out. So an entry that should be Monday at 1pm, shows up as Sunday at 6pm. Very annoying.
Anyone else who can help with this problem?

  • How to view iCal all day events in notifications tab?

First of all I really don't like the new iCal app in ios7 but for now I am dealing with it and am contemplating getting a new app to use for my calendar. However I am trying to make this one work first. One of the problems I have is if I have iCal events that are scheduled as "all day" events, and when I swipe down to view my notifications tab it says I have no events even when I have an event for that day.  However it shows up if I have a time for that event, ex: 8:00 am to 10:00am.
Is this a bug or is there a way to get them to show up? I have everything turned on in settings for the notifications tab settings.
My other issue with iCal is I have two calendars (one for work and one for home) and when I view my month, I want to be able to see the color of the event i have planned on certain days, instead it just shows me a grey dot for the days i have something planned. My ipad with ios7 shows me the view I want my iphone doesn't, just grey dots.  This forces me to actually click on the day and then try to scroll through the day timeline to find my event.....any help?

Did you ever get an answer on this?  I can see everything in the DAY view but need to see the all day events in the week view.  I have events that start on say the 15th and run to the 21st.  I've started putting the end date in the location field but it was so much nicer when the all day even portion expanded to allow you to see all of them without having to scroll.  Having to use the DAY view makes it really hard to schedule.  Any chance this will change in the new version?

  • Converted Outlook to iCal - All day events messed up

I converted Outlook calendar via O2M and imported it into iCal on iMac.  The all-day events are blocking up time from 12:00am to 12:00am rather than appearing in the all-day box at the top of the day.  When I click on the event, the "Make All-Day Event" selection is grayed out and I cannot select it.  The events are blocking up and crowding my calendar and I can't see anything.  I don't want to delete and re-enter all events. Just bought the iMac a week ago. What's the fix?

Found this on another topic and it fixed my problem:
Re: AppleScript to make All-Day Events?
Feb 2, 2006 1:28 AM (in response to Roger Barre)
Hi Roger, This is fairly straighforward in Applescript. You could try something like the script below. Depending on the number of events in the calendar it's possible this could take time. The script should let you know when it's done. Just in case you don't like the result. Backup, just in case. In iCal go to File>Back up Database... and save your calendars. --Copy blue text into Script Editor (Applications > Applescript > Script Editor) , press Run and follow prompts. If you are happy with the results you could save it as an Application.
    tell application "iCal"
    -- Select calendar
set myCal to first calendar whose title is (item 1 of (choose from list (title of (every calendar) as list) with prompt "Choose calendar"))
    -- Loop through events
repeat with myEvt in events of myCal
-- Get start & end times of event
    set {startTime, endTime} to {start date of myEvt, end date of myEvt}
-- Check start and end hours & mins
    set hoursAndMins to {hours of startTime, minutes of startTime, hours of endTime, minutes of endTime}
-- See if start and end time are midnight, if so set to all day.
if hoursAndMins is equal to {0, 0, 0, 0} then set allday event of myEvt to true
    end repeat
display dialog "Done all day events"
    end tell Best wishes John

  • Nokia and iCal: all-day events

Whenever I use iSync to sync iCal and my E65, all-day events are sent to the phone as "meetings" that last from from 12:00am to 11:59pm instead of being synced as "notes". This is very annoying! Does anyone know of a solution? Here are my software versions:
    Mac OS X: 10.4.10
    iSync: 2.4
    iCal: 2.0.5

I researched and researched, and it looks like Mac users are out of luck on this issue. Everything seemed to go wrong when Nokia changed to SyncML to sync their calendar and address book databases. Seems like Nokia & Apple would have resolved this issue by now. From what I've heard, it's been a problem for a long time.
So, I'm giving up for now until someone has an answer. I'm only going to put calendar events on my phone and just use that as my main calendar.
If anyone's interested, there is new software for S60 called "Handy Calendar" by Epocware. It is an amazing replacement for the built-in Nokia calendar app. The one big improvement is that you can make all-day events repeat, unlike on Nokia's calendar. It uses the same database as Nokia's calendar, so you can switch between the 2 with no problems. It also has a nice, clean, good-looking interface. Unfortunately it uses Nokia's SyncML as well, so it doesn't help with iCal.
Oh, well... waiting for a fix...
