ICal and Address Book no longer syncing with iPhone - HELP!

HELP!
I am a long time Apple user and rely heavily on my iPhone to keep me where I need to be, when I need to be there. I have an iPhone 4 and it is running OS 6.0.1. Everything was working fabulously until recently. Sadly I don't know when the problems started--when I updated to OS 6 OR when I updated iTunes to version 11. Either way, my iCal and Address Book no longer sync with my iPhone. And to add insult to injury, my phone is no longer automatically detecting the AT&T microcell I have in my house. I have to reboot my phone every time I come back in the house--talk about annoying.
I am not super techy, so I am hoping someone can help me with this. I LIVE by my iPhone and as a self-employed person, I can't afford for this device to stop giving me information. I also don't want to do entries on my phone AND computer everytime something changes. I do not want to go back to the more reliable paper calendar and address book.
I have iCloud turned on, and it appears to sync my address book with my iPhone. But I seem to be a mess with iCal and my desktop. And between iCal/Adress Book on my computer and iPhone, nothing is talking.
HELP!!!!

I think my company updated Exchange on Friday and since then I cannot sync with Mac Mail, Entourage does not seem to be working either?
Any fix found

  • Mail 4.2, iCal, and Address Book no longer syncing to Exchange 2007

For the last year or so I have had a perfectly functioning connection to our company Exchange 2007 server that worked for Mail, iCal, and Address Book. However, in the last 2 weeks or so I have been unable to sync to those account, getting the little icon with exclamation point in a triangle, meaning it can't sync to the account.
I have tried deleting the account and recreating. It auto-discovers that account server just fine and auto-configures the SSL ports, but I still can't get the account to sync.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone figure out what's going on?
I'm using Apple Mail 4.2 on OS 10.6.3.
    Thanks.

  • Why doesn't my ical and address book no longer sync between the iphone4S and my MacBook?

Can anyone explain why the new iphone doesn't sync back to my MacBook. My ical won't sync, nor will my address book when I make changes to either device? I just bought the phone today and no one at the Mac Store could provide any assistance. I was told that, "it's too new." and had to set up a call with tech support for next Tuesday. I need to work so if anyone could help with this that would be great!
    Thank you!

  • Address Book no longer syncs with google contacts

After my switch to Lion, I'm noticing that my address book no longer syncs with my google contacts??
After I update my contacts in address book, it doesn't show up on google contacts and vice versa.
    Is anyone else exprienceing this?

    ¡¡¡Ok, Something worked for me!!!
I have my address book empty, and then this is what I did:
1- Copy Address book app to downloads (or other folder) just to back it up
    2- Install AppCleaner
3- Drag and Drop address book ap into app cleaner, make sure that it references to several files (all .plist files etc.) If there are no external references then try to drag and drop your backup, do it until you see the rest of references (uncheck address book widget)
4- After press clean in AppCleaner, it will delete everything.
5- Put back your address book app backup into your applications folder
6- Open it and if your are lucky you will see all the contacts again, they were like hidden....
Then I deleted all the contacts again and set up google account in preferences again, after that it syncs fine!!!
    Good Luck!

  • ICal and Address Book have stopped syncing

For some reason, iCal and Address Book have stopped syncing between my MacBook and my iPhone. They had been syncing with iCloud but I noticed that some things aren't being updated. My photos are still being synced via Photo Stream just fine.
One other issue, when i go into System Preferences on my MacBook and click on iCloud, it wants my Apple ID password. But when I enter it, the spinning disks spins indefinetly. Doesn't connect. Then when I hit escape, it asks me if I want to delete my contacts or delete them from my Mac. (Yep I'm on the internet.)
I have also gone into Address Book prefs>Accounts and unclicked "Enable this account". When I do, some of my contacts dissappear and they reappear when I re-check it. So it seems like it is still seeing iCloud.
In iTunes I have checked Sync Contacts and Sync Calendars. I got a pop-up dialog box telling me that I didn't need to do that because iCloud wasn handling the Sync. But I checked them anyway. And I can't get them to sync on normal iTunes manual sync.
Any thoughts? I don't mess with iCloud often enough to know what should be happening. Thanks!

Not sure why, but now I have two of everything. GREATTTTTTT.

  • How to sync calendar and contact with Galaxy S2 and iCal and Address Book, how to sync calendar and contact with Galaxy S2 and iCal and Address Book

I have a Galaxy S2, gmail account, hotmail account and want to know the best way to be able to sync calendar and contacts from the Galaxy S2 with iCal and Address Book. I want to be able to make changes on any device and be able to sync the changes.  Hotmail is my main email account and would prefer to use tha account but I know that the Galaxy prefers Google.  Any ideas?

You have several ways to sync your phone to a mac.
You can use Samsung Kies for mac. You can download it here.
You can also use Google for it. Open Adress Book, click Adress Book on the left top of the screen, click Prefferences and open the Accounts tab. You'll see a "Synchronize with Google" checkbox, click it, enter you mail and password and you are good to go.
On iCal go to Preferences (top left, click iCal to see it), open the Accounts Tab, you'll see a blank list on the left, at the bottom of it there is a "+" sign, click on it and select Google on the Account Type dropdown list, enter your account details and you are done.
Third way to do it is by using third party software such as SyncMate.
Hope any of these alternatives solve your problem!
(The iCal and Address Book instructions are for Snow Leopard, but it should be almost the same on Lion)

  • ICal and Address book is not syncing

Neither iCal or Address Book is syncing with my iPod Touch (2 gen) via Itunes after upgrade (I don't know if MacOSX 10.6.4, iOS4 or iTunes 9.2 is the issue). MobileMe is working. It seems that many have issues with syncing lately. I'm just want to tell you and Apple that I also have problems. If someone have a solution for this I'm happy to hear about it.

    Greetings, Tommy.

If the computer syncs with MobileMe but not with your iPod Touch that suggests the issue is on the iPod Touch. Follow the iPod troubleshooting assistant: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/ipodtouch/
You may also wish to post in the iPod Touch forum rather than here as users in that forum may be more experienced with iPod issues: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=221
I'm just want to tell you and Apple that I also have problems.
This is a user discussion forum. If you would like to let Apple know about an issue you can contact them: http://www.apple.com/chde/contact/
    Hope that helps.

  • My address book not in sync with iPhone over mobileme

My address book on my laptop and desktop is not in sync with the one on my iPhone, even when using mobileme. Any recommendations on how to fix this?
    Thanks!
    John

Similar story here. My iphone's address book has no phone numbers but they're all on my mac. I have tried to synch over mobileme and USB but to no avail.
I have recently upgraded to snow leopard from tiger but can't say for definite that this is part of the problem.

  • Address Book no longer syncs to iPhone

I'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on my MacBook, which uses iTunes 10.5.1. My iPhone 3GS is running iOS 5.0.1. I use the OS X Address Book application to manage my contacts. Recently, I noticed that changes were no longer being synched between my MacBook and my iPhone. Other information (such as calendar info) was being synched fine.
I tried to fix this in the following ways:
    - Configured iTunes to "Replace information on this iPhone" for contacts (under iTunes' Info tab).
    - Reset sync history in iSync.
Neither of these things fixed the problem. The odd thing is that iTunes displays "syncing contacts" for 8-9 seconds every time I sync my iPhone (I have a lot of contacts). So it *seems* as if the contacts info does actually get exchanged between the Mac and the phone. But when I open the Contacts app on my iPhone, it displays "no contacts".
Last week, I got a new, larger hard drive for my MacBook. I installed Snow Leopard on the clean drive and restored my backups, including contacts. In order to make sure everything was really clean, I wiped my iPhone too. Then I tried syncing them. Contacts STILL did not appear on the iPhone. At the time of the first sync, I had no additional software installed on my Mac -- it was just a clean install of OS X with Apple's updates (of OS X and iTunes) applied. Even now, I have only a few additional applications installed (LibreOffice, Audacity, Firefox, Chrome, Opera).
The fact that the problem has persisted even after the reinstallation suggests to me that the problem might be with the contact data itself. But my contacts look fine on the Mac.
Can anyone suggest a possible next step?

OK -- problem solved. Here's what I did:
    1. Opened the Address Book application.
    2. Highlighted all my contacts and dragged them into a new directory that I created under Documents. This created a single vcard file containing all the contacts.
    3. Shut down (i.e., File/Close) the Address Book application.
    4. Went to ~/library/Application Support/  and renamed the AddressBook directory to AddressBook.bak (so that the Address Book application would no longer find the directory).
    5. Opened the Address Book application. It automatically created a AddressBook directory and a new address database containing only the two default addresses (Apple and my own address).
    6. Dragged the vcard that I created in step 2 into the open Address Book application.
    7. Confirmed that I wanted to import a large number of addresses.
    8. When the import was done (about 15-20 seconds), connected my iPhone and did a sync.
Now I have all my contacts back in my iPhone again. But I have lost the group information that I created (business, personal, etc). This is not a big problem. Even if I have to create the groups and assign records to them manually, I can have it done in an hour or so, which is nothing compared to the time I have been wasting trying to get this problem fixed.

  • Address book won't sync with iPhone

I just got a MacBook Air, and it will not sync with my iPhone contacts.  I called support, and spoke to three people and no one could figure it out... In fact, no one even tried anything.
Does anyone have an idea?  The OS is the new Lion one (sorry, this is my first

    Hey,
So I kept looking for another answer and found this answer in another thread:
"It is called "sync" for the reason it not called a transfer.  It wants and is designed to "sync" make each other match.  If it deleted all on the phone it is because you just had zero contacts in the address book on the computer (which on first sync is considered master copy).  If you put one dummy contact into address book on computer then try to sync it will see it needs to "merge" to get the sync process coordinated."
I tried it out and it worked.  I originally already had one contact in my address book, but it was me and apparently I don't count as a human being, so I added the dummy contact and it worked after I clicked 'Merge'. Hope it works for you too.

  • Missing some address book data when syncing with iphone

    Hi,
I sync my iphone 3G with software version 3.0 on my Imac with Leopard 10.5.7 I have used it for over a year without any problem.
Recently, the sync of address book has been omitting some phone numbers. Say a contact has an office phone, a handphone and a fax, I will only find the fax on my iphone. The number "sellected" for syncing with the iphone is not always the same... sometimes the fax, sometimes the office, etc. Most contacts are only allowed 1 phone number on the iphone, but some have none and some have them all. Last, the land address, the email and other fields are never affected.
Of course, before posting, I already restored my Iphone, but the problem remained.
This problem is in fact very serious since I must carry at all time a printed copy of my 600 contacts...
Thank you in advance for help

I have seen a similar problem on my setup (Outlook and Windows XP). In my case, I found out the iPhone doesn't like certain types of phone field names. When you create a new contact on the iPhone, you can choose mobile, iPhone, home, work, main, home fax, work fax, pager, and other. If, for example, your source data has a contact with a "main" phone number, that number doesn't sync properly.
If you go to Google Maps and find a new address and add it to your contacts, it uses the "Phone" name for the phone field. Oddly, that field is not one on the iPhone list. The phone shows up, but when you edit the contact and try to edit the phone, it automatically switches that field to "Mobile". I think that is an attempt by the iPhone to make sure you have a valid field name for your phone numbers.
The way I see it, it is a bug. I have never had a similar issue with other devices and sync software. Try going into a contact on your computer you are having problems with, and change the field name of one of the missing phone numbers to "work" and resync. See if that makes it sync.

  • Any recommendations on productivity for database and project management, Bento was good but no longer sync with ical and address book

I've unfortunately updated to the new Bento on MakBook and iPad and synced my data and in the process it tells me that iCal and Address books will not sync any more.  I have several projects I am working on and looking for something that will syn with iCal, address book and Busy Cal to manage my  time efficiently and seamlessly. Help?

I think you're in the wrong forum - this is for developers, who write programs for apple products.
As for Bento, their problem is due to Apple's changes in the API.  The code that syncs with calendars and contacts is now deprecated, which means at some point in the future, it will no longer work.  This problem will affect all developers, so you probably won't find any replacement for Bento.
