ICal and birthday calendar

I have (among others) 3 entries in Address Book with birthday dates: 1978-04-22, 1981-08-21 and 1982-12-23. Non of them are shown in ical.
But there is more. When i search for these people in ical search box i get following results: all these persons have birthday events on 23 june since 1900 till 2009. Of cause this events are not visible in ical. Clicking on a given event (for example with date 2007-06-23) takes me to 2007-06-04... And there is no birthday event on this date...
Does anyone knows how it can be fixed??? Does anyone also experience such problems??? It is one of several problems which i have with Leopard.

I have a similar problem - some birthdates refuse to show up no matter what, while others show up on the wrong day - eg, I just entered someone's birthday as 12/6/1980, and it first showed up on 12/13 in iCal. The interesting part is, when I looked back in Address Book, it now showed it as 12/15! I then updated it again to 12/6, and now it's showing up on iCal as 12/4. Bizarre.
I really wish too that I could add a birthday without a year. I'd rather not ask my coworkers and friends what year they were born in, just so I can add them to my calendar. It seems my choice is to either make up a year for them, or put "0", which shows up as "0001" in the date. Ugh.
Something's very wrong in iCal/Address Book...

  • Push and birthday calendar issues

I'm having trouble with push. As a somewhat separate issue, I'm also having trouble with birthdays from iCal to the iPhone, push or not.
I had no problem with birthdays transferring to my old iPhone.
Should I set up MobileMe as .mac or .me, since I have .mac?
All the settings in mail, contacts, and calendars on the iPhone are set to ON to push, and in iCal I have the birthday option on. The MobileMe Calendar does list the birthdays.
I can't get mail pushed to the iPhone, but my calendar events, except for birthdays, do seem to come across.
I saw a post last night on a different problem that suggested that Version 2.0 (5A345) had known issues, and to do a restore and get 5A347. I did that this morning and haven't noticed a difference.
I hope I'm making sense, I'm a little punchy after trying to figure this out.
I'm resending this post, as it was posted as a reply to another post this morning. No one responded, and that post is basically off the radar now. I apologize in advance.

Im having the same problem with iphone and birthday calendar. It shows on mobileme and ical but not the iphone. Please send a email to Apple at www.apple.com/feedback. I hope they resolve this issue too.

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me set up my ical and google calendar so they can sync from one to the other. I originally have ical with everything on it and I need to get it to sync with google. I have no problem exporting from ical and importing in google but I do have a problem setting it up to sync back and forth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

    Greetings,
    Questions:
    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
    4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal.  Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once?  If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
    1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
    2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups.  They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
    Hope that information helps.

  • ICal and BIRTHDAYS...HELP!

OK, iCal 2.02 and i understand the names must be put into the Address book to get them into the NON EDITABLE iCal, but WHAT if i have 4 brothers and they all have wives and 5 kids...i MUST enter a card for each just to put the birthdays in? Is this correct or am i missing something? What have other's done?
Is it time to go to MS Entourage?

    Hi Steven,
I agree with you. That is why I wrote the Applescript below. It makes a calendar called myBirthdays in iCal and copies any new birthdays from Address Book when it is run. The calendar is editable, so you can add extra birthdays to it. When you add birthdays to Address Book just run the script again.
If you like the script it can be saved as an application, so it can be run with one click.
    Best wishes

  • Sync iCal and Outlook calendars?

I use a Mac at home and on the road, but have to use a Win-XP at work. Is there a way to keep both sets of calendars on my iPod (iCal and Outlook)?

    {quote:title=Julian Wright wrote:}
Ok... so in that case, what is keeping track of changes to the files on the flashcard? When you plug it into the Mac after using it on the PC, what decides which files are newer and which files to move from the flashcard to the Mac, and which files to move from the Mac to the flashcard? What decides what to do when there is newer data on both?
I suspect you are not actually syncing, but simply manually copying the data each time using the flashcard as the transport medium.
No, I have two sync programs, one on the Mac, one on the PC, they sync their files to the flashcard.
    {quote:title=Julian Wright wrote:}
Have you tried configuring iTunes on both your home Mac and work PC to sync calendars to your iPod touch? If so, does it work or is data overwritten?
That was my question, can it be done? I'm guessing, from what you are saying here, that iTunes should be able to handle it? I don't have iTunes on the PC, so I haven't tried it. Is the functionality the same as on the Mac?

  • ICal and Google Calendar: Why can't we all just get along

OK. To start, I'll just lay out what I'd like from these two apps:
I primarily use Google Calendar because I'm on different computers frequently and it's nice to have my calendar anywhere. I would have no reason to use iCal really, except that I want to sync my calendar info onto two iPods (touch and classic) to have that info with me on the go.
Ideally I'd be able to input info onto either Google Cal or iCal and it would be reflected on the other one pretty seamlessly.
Here's what I have now. Following directions from Google, I added my Google account to the "Accounts" page in iCal prefs using a link like this, "https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user".
Under the delegation tab I checked the various Google calendars that I want synced over to iCal. They all show up on iCal, so this part is working well.
Unfortunately things start to head south here. If I'm not connected to the Internet, the various Google calendars display symbols because they can't connect. Fine. But when I try to sync the calendars through iTunes, nothing transfers. No events, no nothing. (I can't sync while connected to the 'net currently b/c I'm in a foreign country using a USB modem that blocks the other USB port. Hopefully I'll find a USB hub soon.)
    Anyway, two basic problems.
    1. Is there a relatively simple way to have two-way sync between iCal and Google Cal
    2. The issue with events not syncing to iPods

    Then check the following:
1.) are you using the Mac OSX install DVD that came with this mac? Cuz only that would ensure to have the right windows drivers inside the windows port of the boot camp setup exe
2.) Did you try to download the missing drivers via ID? there are several sites offering the right drivers by device ID (See device driver properties). To name one "Driveragent.com" but there is even a better one, but as its late here i really cant remember the name...
But I get back to you on this one as soon as I hit my office again... promised

  • ICal and iCloud Calendar Appointments Problems Following Daylight Savings Time Change

This morning following the daylight savings time change, I noticed that some but not all of my appointments had shifted forward an hour. Strangely enough, some are correct on the iCloud calendar but are still not correct in iCal. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Here's another anomaly: the info panel is showing the correct time while the calendar view is not! I have turned off time zone support in both iCal and the iCloud calendar. It's so frustrating when you rely on these tools--especially for appointments--and you find that you can't trust them to be accurate!

    samdale67,
Have you had any luck fixing this problem yet?
I just noticed today that my iCloud calendar is consistently one hour behind my iPhone4s calendar. It's as if my iCloud calendar never got the Daylight Savings Time Spring Forward message. The iPhone, on the other hand, updated to DST right on schedule. It's annoying because I'm starting to use my iCloud calendar and would like the time change to be applied.

  • ICal and Windows Calendar to sync

I have Windows Calendar on Vista, and iCal on Leapord (10.5.3), and would like to sync all itmes in both, across Work and Home calendars. They are both on my home network, and would ideally like this sync to take place as soon as an item is added (i.e check if other computer is networked, if so, go ahead, and alert me if there is another appointment at the same time on another calendar which hasn't had tiem to sync).
Is there a built in feature, or am I looking to do the impossible.

  • Since Time Change, iCal and iPhone Calendar Time Are All Messed Up

Ever since the most recent daylight-savings time change, I noticed all events I created in iCal, when synced with my iPhone, became an hour off. If I edit the event on the iPhone, it stays the correct time on my iPhone, but when it syncs with iCal again, the time on iCal goes off by another hour, even though the time for the event on the iPhone stays correct. (Hopefully that makes sense) Has anyone else experienced this problem? It is incredibly annoying, because now I have no trust in any of my calendar entries as to what the correct time is.
As an example: I created an event for Sunday the 16th on iCal on my Mac for a 1-hour soccer game from 8:00PM - 9:00PM. When I synced my iPhone, I noticed a few days later that the event on my iPhone now said the event was from 9:00PM - 10:00PM...one hour off! I edited the event on my iPhone, and re-synced. Now my iPhone has the correct time (which I manually edited on the phone) but iCal now says the event goes from 7:00PM - 8:00PM. Again, an hour off, but in the reverse direction (an hour off early, rather than late). When I sync now, even though the times on the iPhone and the times on iCal don't match, they do not change...it's as if either the computer or the phone didn't recognize daylight savings time or something, and thinks it has the correct time for the event. Both my Mac and my iPhone's clocks do display the correct time and date, however, so it's not like the system clock is off. It is completely bizarre, and I entered my entire teams schedule this way, so ALL games were off, and now is completely screwed up. Please help.

Yes, I did. I posted an identical post in the iPhone forum since no one answered here. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1791145&tstart=0
The first reply solved the problem. It involved the Time Zone setting in iCal Advanced preferences for me.

  • How do I get reminders to work between ical and google calendar

I have searched and searched, read dozens of posts, and still have found nothing that shows how to get reminders to work in ical. One post said to disable all event reminders in the google interface-did not make any difference; setting them up in google-did not work; etc etc
Specifically, I am on a macbook pro, snow leopard, ical 4.0.4; my wife is on the same system, but using an iMac.
since snow leopard does not support the cloud, and mobilme is gone, we were 'forced' to use google calendar to sync events between our two computers; that part seems to work fine; most of the time.
But neither of us can get a reminder to pop up in ical, when the event is one that goes to google; if the event is one that is "on my mac", then those kind of event reminders do work.
this is not about syncing reminders; it is about me tring to make a medical appt event remind me a few hours before, so I don't forget it, like happened last week!!
Mainly I am expecting anyone that responds to this post to say, yes you are right, there is no way to get a 'caldav' event reminder to work anymore.
If anyone says "I found a way..." I will be knocked over :-)  (but overjoyed); I am happy to use terminal, plist editor, or anything else, if someone can fix this.

can anyone help with this, even if just to confirm that there is no fix?

  • ICal and iPod calendar not syncing times

My iCal on my iPod and my iCal on my Mac sync dates but not the correct times. For instance, I type in a time for an appointment at 6pm on my iPod and sync to my Mac.  The appointment will show up at the correct date but with a different time. All calendars are selected so that should not be the case. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Greetings,
Perhaps the time zone is wrong on one of the devices.
    On the Mac:
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region. Region should be set to the country of your choice. Do not have it set to "Custom" as this can have unexpected results in the iCal window.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Date & Time > Time Zone and ensure the time zone is set to your current location.
Go to iCal > Preferences > Advanced and ensure that time zone support is not checked
    On the iOS device:
Tap settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone -- choose the correct time zone
--- Alternatively you may have "Set Automatically" which should automatically set your time zone
Tap settings > Mail, COntacts, Calendars > Calendars > Time Zone Support and set to off
My 2 cents on that one.

  • ICal and subscribed calendars with MobileMe using AppleScript

I am having the same problem as many of you; I have a MobileMe account which does not sync the calendars I have in iCal that are subscriptions. I found this great script online which I'll post below. I don't know anything about AppleScript so I'm just copy-pasting. I want it to work, but I'm getting the error "The variable theOldEvent is not defined." right around the line "if similar_found is true then set theOldSummary to the summary of theOldEvent" kinda near the middle. Like I said, I don't know anything about AppleScript. So my question is; how can I fix this error and/or is there some better way of using AppleScript/Automator to do this same thing? Thanks!

  • ICal and iPhone calendars are off by 1 hour from each other

My iCal on desktop G5 and my iCal on my iPhone are syncing but they are an hour off of each other--in other words if I have a lunch scheduled for 11:00 on my desktop G5, it shows at 12:00 on my iPhone. I checked the clocks and they are both correctly on eastern standard time. Any suggestions?

It could be the hidden time zone settings.
The problem is that iPhone has TWO time zone settings -- one for time display and one for the calendar.
Under Settings->General->Date & Time, there is a time zone setting if "Set Automatically" is turned off.
Under Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, there is a setting, too, but it's not obvious. You must scroll to the bottom of this window and select Time Zone Support, then turn it off. It's on by default.
What confuses the user is that the two settings can be different. The latter affects only the calendar.

  • Palm T|X Windows XP Outlook 2007 .iCal and handheld calendar do not sync

    Hi there,
I have a Palm T|X that I am running with a Windows XP Pro PC. I recently upgraded to Outlook 2007 so that I could access an iCal calendar. I downloaded the new Palm Outlook 2007 conduits upgrade. My contacts, notes, tasks and calendar are set to sync with Outlook and as far as I can tell, those features are all working fine.  I have Palm Desktop (version 4.2.0). When I HotSync, it says that everything was sync'ed properly. When I create new events in Outlook or on my handheld calendar they synchronize fine. However, the events from my iCal subscription do not appear on my handheld calendar even though they do appear on Outlook.
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.  I apologize if this is a sync problem and not a problem with Outlook 2007/Palm conduits.
