Ical and iphone

I am using a third party app for my calendar that syncs with google cal.  I am able to sync this app with the iCal on my iPhone.  However, iCal will not suync with iCloud.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Michael,
I spent over an hour today on the phone with Apple support trying to get the situation resolved and finally it has been. The had me run a command line from terminal to totally reset sync history. This goes deeper than the iSync reset history.
Afterwards I decided to google the utility they had me run, and found the Apple Article that addresses it. Here is the link:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306484
I always make sure I have at least on good backup of my data before reseting this stuff, and also pay close attention to which direction you sync things. For example... I made sure my first sync from my iMac to .Mac replaced the data on .Mac. Next when I switch to my MacBook, I will do just the opposite. I will make sure I replace all the data on the computer with data from .Mac.
Let me know if this helps.

upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

    Greetings,
    Questions:
    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
    4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal.  Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once?  If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
    1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
    2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups.  They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
    Hope that information helps.

  • ICal and iPhone Syncing, keeping work and personal apart.

ok im sorry if someone has asked this befor but im new to the whole iphone thing and mac in general. ok i have an iphone, and we use ical as out work calender. is there a way i can sync my work calender to my iphone but not my personal calender details i have on my iphone calender to works ical. if tht makes scene...?

Yes, you can create separate calendars in iCal, and have them sync separately. All controlled inside iTunes when you sync your phone, or Mobileme.

  • Duplicate All-Day events in Entourage, iCal and iPhone

When I sync my iPhone calendars at work, I am getting duplicate all day events (ie, birthdays, anniversary, etc). I'm using the Entourage sync services to create an iCal.
Is anyone having a similar problem or solution?
    Thanks!

I have had a similar problem with all-day events in Entourage.
So far, I have had to manually delete the unwanted all-day events, but once deleted, they have not come back.
My theory is this: I already was syncing Entourage and iCal even before the iPhone. When I added the iPhone, it added a Calendar called "Entourage" to the iCal. It synced Entourage, my home iCal, my work iCal, and the iPhone to the iCal "Entourage" Calendar, leading to multiple junk. I added an application to my Mac which automatically keeps track of library books I have checked out, and puts the due dates on my iCal. When I added this, I got a whole new round of double all-day events.
You can delete them either in Entourage or in the iPhone, but I have gotten more reliable results doing it in Entourage.
A keyboard shortcut is to point at the event with your mouse and then type {Apple Key} {backwards delete} d
    Hope this helps.

  • Time Zone Management iCal and iPhone

I have a vacation coming up from California, to paris, to london, to Ireland, to Chicago,to Detroit and finally California. I think that's 5 time zones. I have all of the events schedule in times that would reflect the time zone that I will be in. But there are lots of settings in ical and the iphone (no/yes time zone support, floating time or time zone of the event.
How do you travelers set this stuff up and use it effectively?

A restore of my iphone solved my problem.

  • Todo for ical and iphone

I use the to do list with ical and it works fine, but it doesn't sync with my iphone.
Can anyone recommend an easy to do package that integrates with ical to do and can be synced and updated on my iphone??
    Thanks in advance.
    M

I don't think there is a way to this. I wish apple would make the todo list available and syncable with the iphone. How do we get apple to do this. It is such a pain not having this feature. The other thing that I use is quickcal as a way of putting info into ical. Its a bit buggy though unfortunately. Be great if apple made a good widget version of this that worked well.
Sorry I can't be of more help

  • Ical and iphone syncing issues

I'll pile on with my own iphone/ical sync issue, to add to all the others i see.
my iphone and ical synched just fine from the start, but since installing software updates, suddenly the calendar on iphone will not accept any new information.
originally, i'd set up my entourage to sync to ical, and in turn 'sync' to iphone, but to test if this runaround was the problem, i've followed some of the other instructions laid out elswhere on this board to set up a test calendar on ical.
this hasn't worked either. nor will the iphone calendar accept any new info when i explicitly direct the itunes software to replace info.
i've also tried resetting everything, but those stubborn pre-software update calendar items remain on my iphone, completely unchanged.
    anyone have any ideas?

The same thing happened to me. As of today's update (11/16) I got to the root of the problem. go into itunes with iphone connected. select information, and if your problem is mine, you will see that all ical and mailbox synching options are now strangely unchecked. check the boxes for what you want to synch. click apply. for an unknown reason, the software update then reveals that it thinks your phone is synching to another account. just keep clicking through, selecting synching with your computer and "new" account. ditto for the keychain issues. presto! it all synchs correctly again.
    hope this helps!

  • Time differences between ical and iphone

When syncing ical to iphone i have a time difference of 9 hours. (dates on the iphone are always 9 hours earlier) No matter on which device the entry was made.
Time zone is set to Berlin, Germany on my iphone as well as on my G5.
Same thing is happening when syncing the iphone with my google calendar.

  • Calendar from Now-Up-To-Date sync wtih iCal and iPhone

I've been struggling to sync my current Now Up To Date calendar with my iphone and I think I have a solution for at least a one-way sync. Here's a copy of my post from another forum. I hope it helps others....
Does anyone else have a better solution?
I've been using my Treo as a go-between for Now Up To Date and iCal with software from The Missing Sync. This seems to work as a one-way sync from NUD to my iCal. I sent an email to them asking for help and here's their reply:
    Description of problem:
Hi. I've been trying to use your software to get my data from Now Up To Date (NUD) to iCal so that I can have it on my iPhone. I know you don't support the iPhone, but maybe you can see if my approach is valid at all. I have a profile in The Missing Sync that only uses the NUD conduit. It is able to get any changes to my Treo 700p just fine. Then I made another profile that only uses the Mark/Space Tasks and Events conduits to get that data from the Treo to iCal. Somehow it worked a few times, but not any more. Is my idea a good one? Should I keep trying or give it up?
    Steps to Reproduce:
    Here's my steps.
    1) Profile named NUD Treo. Has active only the NUD conduit, set to synchronize. I run the sync from the Treo and all changes I made in NUD are transfered to the Treo just fine.
    2) I change to the profile named Treo iCal. I have slected the two condiuts, Mark/Space Events and Mark/Space Tasks. I have it set to synchronize all categories. When I run the sync from the Treo, it works for a bit, but none of the changes show up in iCal. Even though the items show in the Treo's calendar, they don't transfer to iCal.
A couple of times when I did the transfer I saw a comment "pushing from handheld".... and on those syncs the data showed up. But it doesn't always say that and the data doesn't transfer on thos syncs.
The reply from The Missing Sync's Support:
    Hello,
    Yes, that procedure should work.
First, update to 5.1.2 if you haven't done so yet. http://www.markspace.com/ftp/missingsyncpalmos5.1.2.dmg
Then follow these directions to have the Palm overwrite the Mac's Address Book and iCal.

  • Double listing of events in ical and iphone

    Hi
When I view calendar on the iPhone I have 2 entries listed for the same event and on my MBP. The events are colour coded to Entourage, which is set up to syc with ical.
Any idea on how to resolve this issue please
    Thanks

It's interesting that you are Mac and PC users having the the same six hour shift in time. Your posts don't show where you are located, but I'll bet you are both in the same time zone, most likely Pacific. Have you turned on Time Zone Support on your iPhones and set the Time Zone? I don't know about OS X, but there is a Daylight Savings Time Update for Windows (on www.microsoft.com)needed due to the change in start and end times for DST this year, and that may be a factor in how the iPhone reads the time on your computer. Do you have the time on your computers set correctly with DST checked?

  • Since Time Change, iCal and iPhone Calendar Time Are All Messed Up

Ever since the most recent daylight-savings time change, I noticed all events I created in iCal, when synced with my iPhone, became an hour off. If I edit the event on the iPhone, it stays the correct time on my iPhone, but when it syncs with iCal again, the time on iCal goes off by another hour, even though the time for the event on the iPhone stays correct. (Hopefully that makes sense) Has anyone else experienced this problem? It is incredibly annoying, because now I have no trust in any of my calendar entries as to what the correct time is.
As an example: I created an event for Sunday the 16th on iCal on my Mac for a 1-hour soccer game from 8:00PM - 9:00PM. When I synced my iPhone, I noticed a few days later that the event on my iPhone now said the event was from 9:00PM - 10:00PM...one hour off! I edited the event on my iPhone, and re-synced. Now my iPhone has the correct time (which I manually edited on the phone) but iCal now says the event goes from 7:00PM - 8:00PM. Again, an hour off, but in the reverse direction (an hour off early, rather than late). When I sync now, even though the times on the iPhone and the times on iCal don't match, they do not change...it's as if either the computer or the phone didn't recognize daylight savings time or something, and thinks it has the correct time for the event. Both my Mac and my iPhone's clocks do display the correct time and date, however, so it's not like the system clock is off. It is completely bizarre, and I entered my entire teams schedule this way, so ALL games were off, and now is completely screwed up. Please help.

Yes, I did. I posted an identical post in the iPhone forum since no one answered here. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1791145&tstart=0
The first reply solved the problem. It involved the Time Zone setting in iCal Advanced preferences for me.

  • ICal and iPhone calendars are off by 1 hour from each other

My iCal on desktop G5 and my iCal on my iPhone are syncing but they are an hour off of each other--in other words if I have a lunch scheduled for 11:00 on my desktop G5, it shows at 12:00 on my iPhone. I checked the clocks and they are both correctly on eastern standard time. Any suggestions?

It could be the hidden time zone settings.
The problem is that iPhone has TWO time zone settings -- one for time display and one for the calendar.
Under Settings->General->Date & Time, there is a time zone setting if "Set Automatically" is turned off.
Under Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, there is a setting, too, but it's not obvious. You must scroll to the bottom of this window and select Time Zone Support, then turn it off. It's on by default.
What confuses the user is that the two settings can be different. The latter affects only the calendar.

  • Sync iCal and iPhone

I entered my whole calendar into iCal on MacBook running 10.4.10. All the events in iCal synced into the iPhone but all the times were wrong by 4 hours. Both my iPhone and iCal are set on Eastern Standard time so I can't understand the problem.

I saw this on another discussion--double check your settings and make sure the phone didn't go back to the default setting in Cupertino, CA.

  • ICal and iPhone items 1 Hour Apart

All my calender items in my phone are showing up 1 hour ahead of how they are listed in iCal. The time on my pc and my iPhone is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Well this sort of helped my problem, it fixed everything up until the second week of March. Now for some reason despite the fact that I selected 'apply to all' when changing the dates back around after fixing the time zone, it moved the items from March 9th forward, 1 hour ahead. What the heck?

  • ICal and iPhone sync dates off by 1hour????

Can anyone explain to me why my iCal events are consistently 1 hour ahead of all events entered on my iPhone after I sync? The time zone sync is activated on my phone and iCal but I can't seem to get it straight.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
