Ical Applescript questions and missing commands

This is an advanced itunes question....
I am using itunes with ical and applescript to run a radio station.   I have used alot of things from Doug Adam's and taken some things past where i can get help.   I am using itunes 7...and os X 10.5.8 .   i am also using ical buddy, gcal(for xml) and a few other neat little tricks.
I have run into a few technical problems and was wondering if anyone knew how to fix them.
1 Problems happen:    is there a way to disable ALL pop-up warnings in itunes........not just sync, or playlist warnings, but all errors that require someone to click......
2 is there a way to Toggle (on/off) itunes soundcheck in the preferences when you set a playlist to play with an applescript
Thank you,
Jacob Bouchard
www.wfku.org

I  have updated to Itunes 10.4, and have encountered a whole new set of problems
1. (solved)  the popup warnings in Itunes 10.4 are gone.   I have a good backup applescript that forcequits the applescript app, or forces a return Key press into the warning window.   It works but i want to make it better
2. (solved)   I have solved the soundcheck problem with an applescript (its not pretty, but does the job)
NEW PROBLEM:
upgrading to Itunes 10.4 removed the *Smart shuffle features that were in Itunes 7.6.   (this is much different from smart playlists)
I NEED THAT FEATURE
Can someone at apple please give me the Hexidecimal code  i need to replace in the com.apple.itunes prefs file that will re-orient the smart-shuffle  to *shuffle "Songs"  with "least likely artist repeat" Setting
Thanks in Advance,
Jacob
*Removed in iTunes 8
also as a sidenote iCal version 4.04 is doing something shady when i export the event information.   It feeds garbage into my code which creates errors apparently at random.   The problem is resolved with earlier and later releases of iCal (That i cannot use becuase i have a Macbook pro 2006 Intel Duo core which will not take the lion operation system)   Sometimes it feeds garbage after the ical information that my shellscript is requesting

  • Ical alarms hit and miss

I have an Imac 2.4GHz running Leopard 10.5.8. We have 4 calendars, and the alarms are hit and miss. Sometimes they go off, and sometimes not. And sometimes they go off a day later. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Todd Frank

The performance is really hit and miss.
Do you mean apart from the issue of messages not showing up in the Inbox?
Are your really using Mac OS X 10.4.3, as your profile indicates?
the messages are there, there just seems to be an
    issue pulling them into Mail.
Try rebuilding the Inbox, i.e. select it and do Mailbox > Rebuild.

  • ICal installation questions / and publishing in local network

    hello guys,
i am really sorry but i am not a "real" admin and i just have to get ical service running.
our target: publish a ical on our server so that other people can acess it
    our situation:
    - os x server 10.5.4.
    - os clients 10.5 and 10.4
    - all in a local network (we dont need it in the internet)
i started open directory master and i cal service is running as well (both green light in the server admin) our standard network user has the button for calendar usage/publishing activated. now i am a bit lost how to go on
i went to my local machine and tryed to publish a calendar but firs challenge:
    - what domain do i type? http + server IP (172.17.0 ....) and then?
    - i can use one of the standard users with this ical button activated or do i need to create this userrs also somehow in OD?
    help is really apreciated, thanks!
    jfk

Actually, you may not need the calendar server at all. If you want a single user to publish calendars for others to read/only then you can just use WebDAV publishing. Works great and is simple to setup and use.
Note that this is only an option if you want users to publish their calendars for others to read but not write to. If you want multiple-writer calendars or to use the cool availability window or locations and resources you should use the iCal Server.
Publish and subscribe WebDAV calendars has been a feature of iCal (client) for a long time. To use it all you need to do is enabled a Web site in Server Admin and set up a realm with read/write access for the appropriate user(s). In my example, I am assuming that you tust your users not to delete each other's calendars...
The step-by-step is going to take up more space than I have here so I'm going to post some instructions to my site at http://adozendozen.com/
I should have step-by-step instructions up later today.

  • When will email alarms work in iCal 3.0 and Leopard?

I have been trying to follow the Apple discussions of some of the problems in iCal 3.0 under Leopard. Fortunately, I haven't experienced some of them. The one that is bothering me is the inability to send email alarms. This is a feature I used a lot in Tiger and want to use again. My iBook and iMac are syncing pretty well, and my calendars are, too. However, if I create a new iCal event on either computer and then try to set an email alarm, I get this response: "You must add your own card and email address in Address Book in order to be able to use mail alarms" with a link to open Address Book. When I open Address Book, there is no conceivable way to follow the above instruction. Either I am missing something very simple, or Apple has not fixed this bug in iCal 3.0 and Leopard, despite having stated in a knowledge base document on November 15, 2007, (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306907) that as a result of the 10.5.1 update "iCal alarms are now more reliably delivered via email." Has anyone figured a go-around for this problem?

Well, here I am answering my own question. I went into Address Book preferences on my iBook, which was upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, and found that my own card in Address Book was no longer indicated as being "me". I checked the box to indicate that, and then--voilà!--my email alarms worked in iCal. I guess I should have realized that the upgrade to Leopard didn't necessarily create all the preferences that had previously existed in Tiger. Once I check the iMac, which came with Leopard, to ascertain that this fix works on the iMac, too, I will mark this question as answered.

  • New iCal vs. old iCal: 3 things I miss

I recently upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and miss a few things about the old iCal.  I tend to use iCal more as a diary than an appointment book.
    1.  You used to be able to drag a New Event being created down past the bottom of the calendar and it would scroll until the new event ended at the time you wanted.  Now, it only goes to the bottom of the screen, whatever time that is.
    2.  I liked the sidebar display of event details better than today's "double-click for the balloon, then press edit" method.
    3.  When you wrote Notes in an event, the old version would have a little 'page" icon in the event to show that there were notes with the event.  Now, an event  has no clue that there are notes with it.
As for "future features", I wish iCal had a "timeclock addition" feature, so I could see how many hours I've spent on a given category in the calendar.
If anyone has workarounds for these, please post it.  I see nothing in Preferences.

    ffrcoupe wrote:
There are a few software features that I miss from my DTV / Tivo days vs. FiOS:
1 - The ability to create wishlist automatic recordings. I could create a Season Pass for a keyword such as "Corvette" and the DVR would record any shows with the keyword in the title or program description.
2 - The ability to jump to a specific date in time in the guide.
3 - The ability to view upcoming shows for a Season Pass from the Season Pass Manager (Series Manager).  This is a big one for me because it's a PITA to have to search for a show so I can see upcoming episodes when it's already in my Series Manager.
Verizon hereby has my permission to add these features to future software releases.
I'll add some more as I think of them.  What are yours?
    None.
But I do have a few questions and comments, as I have never had a Tivo:
re #2: How do you jump to a specific date in time in the Guide, and how far out, in days, can you go on a Tivo? Just curious, because I can easily jump a day at a time in the FiOS Guide, out to the limit of how many days are available, usually 12 for me.
re #3: Again, how do you do it on a Tivo, and how far out can you go? With FiOS, once I have scheduled a series, it is easy to see all episodes scheduled, but only within the time limit of the Guide currently stored in the DVR, again usually 12 days for me.
I think there may be additions/enhancements to these functions coming in the new 1.9 level of the IMG that is beginning to roll out.
Just curious, thanks for any feedback.

  • Applescript, numbers, and automatisation tasks, a nightmare for me...

    Hello,
Again a new question, and thank you again for your help. I found a answer for a part of the problem, but not for all, with applescript.
I would like to create this automatisation :
Every month, I have a despense wich is coming the 1st.
-I would like numbers to open my "bank" document, and enter automatically the password (there is one, and I want to enter it automatically just for this script)
-select the good table, create a row at the end of the table/list,
-and in this new row, to enter the date of the day (so the 01/09/09 or 01/10/09 etc),
-the name of the transaction (always the same) in the next cell,
    - the nature of it in the next cell (idem),
    - the amount,
    - at the end there is a case to valid or not the transaction, I don't want to valid it.
at the end, but it's not the most important, is it possible to create this new row including formulas, or without erasing precedent formulas ? (All the precedent rows contains formulas, so the new automatic row will copy them I think, but enter text automaticly will erase formulas no ?)
I succeed for a part of this, but I don't find how to select the last row, the empty one just created. I can't refer to a number of row because there are always new others operations I insert myself. And I don't succeed to force the last case to be "not valid"
After that, I prepare an automator/ical app, and automate the script for all the 1st of each months.
I didn't find the solution to create in the 1st cell, the date with the curent day or the specific day of the transaction.
Thank you very much again, if you have the solution, or if you have a better solution than use automatoricalapplescript

I have a similar thing on one of my forms, the fields are "Date Submitted" and "Date Needed" and I need to validate that the Date Submitted date occurs before the Date Needed date.  If it does not, it prompts a response dialog box and asks for a new DateNeed to be entered.  Here is the code I used: (I'm by no means an expert at code)<br /><br />//This just sets the values of the date/time fields to variables, and then checks for a null value.  If null, it changes the rawValue to an empty string for inserting into database.  If not null, it leaves the existing rawValue unchanged. Unless you're writing info to a database, you probably wouldn't need this.<br /> <br />var DateSubmit = form1.MainForm.Info.DateSubmitted.rawValue == null ? "" : form1.MainForm.Info.DateSubmitted.rawValue;<br />var DateNeed = form1.MainForm.Info.DateNeeded.rawValue == null ? "" : form1.MainForm.Info.DateNeeded.rawValue;<br /><br />if (DateNeed<DateSubmit)<br /><br />{<br /><br />     var dateResponse = xfa.host.response("The Date Needed date must be later than the Date Submitted date.\nPlease enter new date below: (MM/DD/YYYY format)", "Date Needed Error");<br /><br />     var myDate = new Date(dateResponse);<br /><br />     var myFormattedDate = util.printd("dd mmm yyyy", myDate);<br /><br />     form1.MainForm.Info.DateNeeded.formattedValue = myFormattedDate;<br /><br />}<br /><br />BTW, I have this as code on a submit button that does all of my validations and then writes a new record to a database.  But I think you could also do this on the exit event of the second date/time field if needed. The variable declarations at the top would be slightly different.<br /><br />Lynne

I just posted this question under the "OTHER" category and got 2 replies, neither of which solves this problem!
    IS THERE A SOLUTION? Thanks

Are you the same poster as Raphaex who posted using Windows 8.1 in this thread and provided a full and detailed set of data accessible using the "More System Details" link: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1011435 ??
If not, could you provide a link to the earlier discussion on your situation if there is one? I don't want to repeat what you haven't found helpful, and also, it's critical to know your correct configuration information and not waste everyone's time typing out advice that is totally irrelevant.
To provide the missing details on your configuration:
    # Use ONE of these methods to open the Firefox Troubleshooting Information page:
#* Click the "3-bar" menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click on help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Troubleshooting Information''.
#* Type '''about:support''' into the Firefox address bar and press the enter key.
    # In the top left corner of the Troubleshooting Information page that comes up, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
#Now, come back to this thread, right-click in the reply box and select '''Paste''' from the context menu (or else click inside the reply box and press Command+v) to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.
Usually, this does not contain personal information, but I suggest you skim down and make sure you do not see your email address in there (XX it out ).

  • Ical update question?

If I set up a subscription ical with alerts, If I add a new event with an alert it will update the subscription file, but will the other subscriber get an updated event/alert Without opening/updating the ical app. (the subscription for the other subscriber is setup  to update daily..If that matters)

    James,
Unfortunately there is no such update.
    I have placed iCal in my Login Items (System Preferences...>Accounts>My Account>Login Items>Hide [✓ ]).
iCal is always available for use and the date in the Dock is always correct. I can switch to iCal at any time and when I am done consulting iCal I use the (⌘+H) command to hide iCal without quitting. Leaving it open but hidden is the price you must pay to see the current day in the Dock.
You can submit OS X Feedback with your personal recommendation for your desired method of implementation.

  • Ical update question show the right time in dock

Hey I read some where that apple had an update for ical that showed the right day and month in the dock instead of the july 17 date it has always had. I ran all my osx updates and the ical date is still july 17. Is ther something I have to do in order to get it to show the right date. I know when i have it open it has the right date. But I don't want to leave it open all day. Can anybody give me any info thanks

I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 with iTunes installed. Now my iPhone 4S is no longer recognized in iTunes. Connecting the iPhone with USB sends me directly to the MS app that downloads pictures from the iPhone. Suggest this is a question of missing Apple driver for Windows 8, iTunes and iPhone. MS does not care! This seems to be a general problem with Windows 8 that a number of drivers that used to work with Windows 7 now do not work, ie. iPhone to iTunes, HTC to HTCSync, Samsung to Kies etc. I need this connection to work in order to syncronize with Outlook and my iTunes library.

Maybe it would have been a better idea to confirm that iTunes is supported in Windows 8 before buying a computer with that Operating System.
There will be a new version of iTunes released this month... no one forced you to upgrade prior to a supported version of iTunes being released.

  • Major issues with a add-on Emoji Cheatsheet and missing add-ons in Firefox 37.0.2 ?

As soon as Firefox updated me to 37.0.2 installed I started having issues with missing add-ons and missing tool bar buttons.
Instead spending all day reloading add-on from "Refreshing" Firefox I just started going through my add-ons and disabling them and restarting (4-5 at a time) till thinks went right. I spent a hour last night till I got down t last few that could because it . I left FIREBUG disable and things started working as is and Compatibility Reporter started working too.
Well I woke up to start Firefox and to my shagrin it was messed up again. So I went back through and and remembered the few last add-ons I re-enabled right before I disabled Firbug. So I disable it and sure enough things went back to normal.
    What Add-on was that?
'''Emoji Cheatsheet :: Add-ons for Firefox'''
When the icon for it shows on my toolbar everything else shows, yet when it goes awal many other things malfunction. I tried reloading Firfox several times and nothing change. So when I disable it and restarted things were normal and working.
    Anyone else experience this?

Sorry, the post about clearing your cache was meant for a different question.
I suggest opening a ticket on the issue forums for this plugin: https://github.com/johannhof/emoji-helper/issues
P.s. If it helps, I currently have 16 add-ons installed.

I am finding these white lines in t he 3d part of the text and missing colour in the text itself. This occurs when viewing in illustator itself and when saved as pdf and jpg.
I have noticed a solution has been to flatten the image or rastarize it. This does not give me the quality i want, and to me defeats the purpose of doing something in illustror cancels out the ability to resize.

  • WTC Questions and Answers

Here are some common WTC questions and answers:
Q1: What is the transaction story for WTC between WLS and Tuxedo and how
    does it differ from Jolt?
A1: In version 1.0 of WTC transactions may be started in WLS and will
"infect" Tuxedo with the same transaction. That implies that there is one
and only one commit coordinator, and that is in WLS. In version 1.0 of WTC
    transactions originating
in Tuxedo via WTC is not supported. In version 1.1 of WTC transactions from
Tuxedo into WLS via WTC can be used, but only in Beta mode, as we will not
have done the required QA of "inbound" transactions. In order to use
inbound transactions in WTC 1.1 you will need to turn on the use of beta
features with an attribute called "UseBetaFeatures" on the WTC Startup class
    in WLS.
This differs from Jolt in that while Jolt can start transactions in Tuxedo,
these transactions are not coordinated with anything in WLS. Hence it is
impossible to do a 2 phase commit which involves WLS resources and Tuxedo
resources with Jolt. Since Jolt does not have any means of invoking WLS
services transactions in that direction do not make sense.
Q2. How does the security mapping work?
A2: WLS and Tuxedo can share the same set of users (though they may be
administered differently in the two systems) and the users can propagate
their credentials from one system to the other. For example, if John Wells
logs into WLS then the services which he invokes in Tuxedo will have all of
the ACL permissions of John Wells as defined on the Tuxedo side.
Furthermore, if Jolene User logs into Tuxedo then any resources she attempts
to access in WLS via WTC will be checked against Jolene User's rights in WLS
    land.
In order to accomplish this, a few things need to be set up:
    1. You must be using Tuxedo 7.1 or Tuxedo 8.0 for this to work. Tuxedo 6.5
did not have the security infrastructure necessary to make this happen.
    2. In your BDMCONFIG on the Tuxedo side you will need to set ACL_POLICY and
CREDENTIAL_POLICY to "GLOBAL" for the WLS remote domain. ACL_POLICY
controls whether or not a domain accepts credentials coming from a remote
domain and CREDENTIAL_POLICY controls whether or not we send credentials to
a remote domain. (In Tuxedo 7.1 there was no CREDENTIAL_POLICY - we always
sent the credentials to the remote domain).
    3. In your BDMCONFIG on the WLS side you must likewise specify <ACL_POLICY>
    and <CREDENTIAL_POLICY> to be "GLOBAL."
    4. On the WLS side you must also configure a <TpUsrFile> which will point
to a file of the exact same format as the tpusr file generated by the
various Tuxedo commands to add and delete users. (Which also happens to be
of the same format as the unix /etc/passwd file). WTC needs this file
because in WLS users do not have user identification numbers or group
identification numbers. Hence we need a way to map WLS users into the
    standard Tuxedo UID/GID appkey.
Voila! You have now set up your system such that users logged into either
system can be given access privelidges in the other system. This is known
as single sign-on. We are currently working on a way to better integrate
the two user databases between WLS and Tuxedo, and one day we will have
    single administration and single-sign on!
Q3: How is the performance of WTC?
A3: Obviously, results will vary based on your machine, CPU, application
    (i.e., transactions/no transactions) etc...
However, in the performance lab here we have seen WTC perform at levels that
nearly equal Tuxedo in a similar configuration. The performance is equal to
or better than Jolt, and will scale much better than Jolt because of the
    concentration of network bandwidth.
Q4: What fail-over/fail-back mechanisms are there in WTC?
A4: WTC has many of the same fail-over fail-back mechanisms which /T
domains had. Any service can be offered by multiple remote domains, and if
a domain link is down we will attempt all of the backup domains. In /T
domains there was a limit of three backup remote domains, but in WTC there
is no limit to the number of backup domains you can configure for a service.
Furthermore, we support the connection policies of ON_STARTUP, ON_DEMAND and
INCOMING_ONLY. If the policy is ON_STARTUP then you can also configure a
retry interval and max-retries. We will attempt to connect to ON_STARTUP
remote domains every retry interval for a maximum number of retries before
giving up. If a domain is configured as ON_STARTUP or INCOMING_ONLY and the
connection is not currently established then no services will be routed to
    that remote domain.
Q5: What support features are available in WTC?
A5: WTC has a tracing feature which can be enabled dynamically. If a
customer reports a problem, support will likely ask the customer to turn
tracing on and send a log file. This tracing facility has several levels of
severity and can also help debug WTC applications. It is turned on by
setting TraceLevel in the WTC startup class. The following are the defined
    levels:
    10000 - TBRIDGE Input/Output
    15000 - TBRIDGE extra information
20000 - Gateway Input/Output (this will trace the ATMI verbs)
    25000 - Gateway extra information
50000 - JATMI Input/Output (this will trace the low-level jatmi calls)
    55000 - JATMI extra information
60000 - CORBA Input/Output (this will trace CORBA calls)
    65000 - CORBA extra information
    Q6: Will Jolt be deprecated?
A6: No. There are some features of Jolt that are not covered by WTC. For
example, the Jolt registry API are not supported by WTC. Furthermore WTC
must run in conjunction with WLS, while Jolt can be run from Applets or from
    free-standing Java applications.
Q7: What about JCA? Is WTC a JCA adapter?
A7: WTC is not a JCA adapter. JCA does not define semantics for inbound
invokations into the JCA container, but WTC allows for Tuxedo clients to
invoke WLS EJBs. However, the jATMI object interactions are based on the
JCA client model. BEA is currently evaluating several JCA strategies for
    connections into Tuxedo.

    [email protected]

Q8. What versions of Tuxedo are supported?
A8. WTC 1.0 will support Tuxedo 6.5 and Tuxedo 8.0. WTC 1.1 (which adds
CORBA support) will support Tuxedo 6.5 and Tuxedo 8.0. Soon after the
release of both of these products we will certify WTC with Tuxedo 7.1.
However, the version of Tuxedo 7.1 you will need to have will be Tuxedo 7.1
after a certain patch level, which I don't know the number of yet. I will
attempt to keep the public informed about which patch level will be required
    in Tuxedo 7.1
Q9. What WLS Releases will be supported?
A9. WTC 1.0 will be certified on WLS 6.0 SP2, WTC 1.1 will be bundled with
    WLS SilverSword release (6.1?)
Q10. How will WTC be packaged?
A10. WTC 1.0 will be a separately downloaded binary (one for unix, one for
NT) that the user will have to install and configure in his/her WLS
environment. (Configuration will consist of putting the jatmi.jar file into
the classpath (as well as the normal BDMCONFIG configuration, of course)).
WTC 1.1 will be bundled right in there with the WLS SilverSword release.
Q11. When will WTC go live (no more beta)?
A11. This is a question for Jeff Cutler, but my impression is that WTC 1.0
will be shipped in the same time-frame as the Tuxedo 8.0 release and
obviously (see A10) WTC 1.1 will be shipped with WLS SilverSword.

At 8:03, you "wanna learn" about tablespaces and datafiles.
At 8:11 you want the concept of Imp/Exp explained to you.
At 8:10 you "wanna learn" the concept of Roll Back Segmenst [sic]
And at 8:12 you "wanna learn" all about SQL*Loader
Not bad for nine minutes of complete thoughtlessness, I suppose.
If you "wanna learn" all about Oracle, download the software, install it, start playing with it, and come back with some serious questions that show a modicum of thought, effort, persistence and care. Paying some attention to the usual rules of grammar and spelling might be an idea, too.
You'll find installations documented at http://www.dizwell.com/prod/node/695#installation, and then you can work your way through some concepts at http://www.dizwell.com/prod/node/263 and then you can start doing some basic fiddling at http://www.dizwell.com/prod/node/695#basics and once you've worked your way through that lot, you should be in a position to make sensible use of the stuff over at http://tahiti.oracle.com.
And after you've had a good read of the official Concepts book there, then you can come back here to ask specific questions and reasonably expect to get meaningful replies.
