ICal Banner Events W/Out Weekends?

Just a quick question... is there a way to create a banner event longer than one week but to only have it show up on business days or will I have to create separate 5 day banner events each week that applies? Thanks
-Brian

I am in the middle of something like this, tho I use Mobile Me. Suddenly, all my calendars were colored blue and many of my events were missing.
Thanks to another post, I found the backup calendars on my TM: my user library > calendars (this is a folder). I don't know whether they moved it there with Leopard or Snow Leopard, but if that folder isn't there, try: user library > application support > ical The other post mentioned using the Sources folder.
Oddly, I'd like to get rid of my old events. Do you know how to do that?

  • All Day Events ( banner events ) will not show in iCal and  Web Cal

I have iCal Server working for the most part. I am having issues with the Web Calendar not showing the all day events that are made in iCal on that group calendar. Non-All Day events show on both the iCal on the client computer and on the Web Calendar. Also events can be added and edited by multiple users.
If I make and all day event on the Web Calendar, it does not show up on the iCal client. If I make an all day event on the iCal client it does not show in the Web Calendar.
I made a banner event on the Webcalendar. One user could see the event in his iCal, I could not. He changed the status to "All Day Event" then the event disappeared from the Web Calendar, and showed up in my iCal.

Same problem here! Apple should really get their act together if they are serious about groupware and their server software; all-day events are a crucial part of a calendaring system!
I wonder if Apple actually use their own software? I can't imagine that they'd let this one go on unsolved for this long

  • ICal should allow for coloring weekend days different from work week

It would be nice if iCal would allow for the weekends to be colored differently than Monday thru Friday to allow for ease in viewing the week. In my opinion it is too difficult to find TODAY each time I look at the screen. Franklin Covey software used to allow for you to color the weekends differently....I had mine a faint yellow hue which helped tremendously. Also, TODAY's date stood out more prevalently for ease...which I liked MUCH better. I make many mistakes on my iCal with these 49 year old eyes due to the lack of differentiation. Seems to me someone at Apple just needs to spend some time to update this app. Apple does so well with their products...and I am definitely an apple girls now. Just hoping they get to this sooner rather than later.

I don't have any answer, but I strongly agree. iCal is serviceable, but Today is practically invisible. I have searched the Web, and found the question several times, but no answers.

  • ICal duplicating events

My ipod touch iCal duplicates events.  Even after I've deleted them they come back.  I sometimes have six or seven of the same event in a day.  I'm just about to give up and stop using it and try another app.  This seems to be an old problem.  I've found instances on here dating back to 2009.  Haven't they fixed it yet?? Any ideas?

    Hi,
Are the events in the same calendar or different ones? You can check this by showing and hiding calendars.

  • Ical - deleted events prevent from syncing with missing sync

When I try to sync ical with my windows mobile 5.0 running Motorola Q via Missing Sync, I always encounter an error message that one of my ical-events prevents Missing Sync from an error-free sync.
This message comes up when I start Missing Sync: "iCal is reporting synchronization errors. One or more calendar events may not have synchronized properly from iCal. Errors may prevent this application from completing a successful synchronization."
The Missing Sync Protocoll rerfers to an event which I did already delete. So here's the question: how do I really get rid of a ical event which I have already deleted?

Same here. After the update to 10.5 I have succesfully done one sync between my Treo and iCal using MissingSync. Now iCal gives an error, see below. What is the workaround? Downgrading to 10.4.x? Or get an iCal 2 somewhere and run that?
I really want to get my ToDo and Calendar data from my Treo before I go from my Treo 650 to an iPhone. Any workaround is welcome.

Hi Linc, thanks for this ... it is weird, we tried this previously, but we only did a restart.
This morning our Mac was 'off' even though we hadn't turned it off, (maybe a power outage) I restarted and ran the calpatch immediately, and it worked !!
it is embarrassing, because as a service engineer, I am always telling customers to restart and even power down completely before trying again.
    Thanks.

why do my ical invitation acceptances send out multiple acknowledgements to the meeting intiator?

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
So we have DSL Modem <-> Base Station <-> Computer connected by Ethernet.
    Is the Modem Routing ?
Is the Base Station set to "Share An IP" ?
(i.e are there two DHCP servers on your LAN ?)
Is Internet Sharing On in th G5s System Preferences > Sharing pane ?
In the Base Station is Port Mapping Protocol Enabled if it is doing routing ?
It is in the NAT tab of the Internet Pane.
Is the G5 also doing WiFi to the Base Station ?
Also check the Modem is not Blocking PINGS as this log shows no PING (But I am not sure it even got that far)

  • All past and future iCal data mysteriously wiped out???

I am still in denial, hoping that there is some fix for this:
I just noticed that my iCal calendar was suddenly (in the past hour) blank on my iMac. I had recently synced with my iPad, so checked there, and it was empty there too. I did not do anything special recently with iCal or settings, though I did purchase a few Apps through iTunes today (none of them calendar related). Luckily I also have an iPod Touch and my calendar there was still intact. I thought perhaps I could restore iCal with a sync - I carefully checked to make sure my settings would not lead to an overwrite of my iPod, and synced. And then what do you know but now my iPod iCal is also wiped out. I had never figured out how to set up Time Machine (just tried it again and no luck), and I was not using iCloud.
I am praying that there is some hope for me.
    Thank you!
    Casey

  • ICal won't quit out

All of a sudden when I'm in iCal the "quit iCal" option is grayed out and I let it sit for a while thinking it might be synching but no matter how long I waited it wouldn't quit out. I force quit twice now but Finder doesn't indicate it's not responding. I'm all updated software wise on my MacBook Pro. Don't get it. Help?

I am having this problem also and would appreciate insight. I can only quit from the Dock.

  • Syncing iCal reccuring events created before DST

I have a problem with my iCal reccuring events created before the transition to Daylight Saving Time. On my iPod nano they appears to stay as if they were still before DST shift (in non-DST time zone). For instance, if I have a weekly meeting at friday 5:00 PM, I expect it to be 5:00 PM independently of whether I'm in a DST-shifted time or not. On my iCal everything seems to be fine: the meeting is still 5:00 PM, but my iPod nano thinks that the reccuring meeting should be DST-independent (6:00 PM).
Temp workaround: Settings > Date & Time > Set Time Zone > Set a time zone without DST. However, after syncing, the timezone will be resetted to DST anyway.
Hope this issue will be fixed in future iPod software releases.

I am having the same or a similar problem.
I use iCal on Snow Leopord and can't seem to get calendar events to sync when created in iCal with my BB or those created on the BB to show in iCal.
I use gmail, and have gmail added as the only account in iCal.
When I connect my BB via USB, Desktop Manager indicates that one of the selected calendars is read-only and can only be synchronized from my computer to my device. How do I correct this?

  • After upgrade from iPhoto 8 to iPhoto 11, my events were out of order

Yesterday I upgraded from iPhoto 8 to Iphoto 11, purchasing the app from the Mac app store. After it went through the upgrade process of the library of 18,000 plus photos, I found my 858 events were out of chronological order in many instances with no rhyme nor reason. They were previously sorted oldest at the top (2006) and newest at the bottom.
I went through and laboriously dragged them into the correct order then imported two lots of photos to find those events at the top. So the top row now reads, Event 2011-02-25, Event 2011-03-05, with the third one Event 2006-07-4 etc.
Help. I can't see how to fix this.

Hi No1jmb: Try this. Select Events from the left pane, select View, scroll down to "By Date", then select Ascending or Descending.
    Hope this helps

  • Hi everyone. I have just started having problems with iCal.  Events that I thought I had deleted are appearing on Print Preview and on print outs. Likewise Events which I have not deleted have disappeared from my calenders, but appear in print preview.

Hi everybody. I have recently started having problems with iCal (Version 2.05 (1069). Events that I thought I had deleted appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. Likewise Events that I have not deleted have disappeared from my calender (Month View) but appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. I see that there have been similar problems with Events disappearing especially in Month View. I wondered how print preview seemrd to be picking everything up deleted or not, and what the solution may be?. First time of Posting. I hope I haven't embarassed myself.

    Hmmmm.
At the very least there must be a "com.apple.ical.plist"...iCal would not function without it.
Click on the Finder icon in the dock
    Click on Go > Home
    Double-click Library
    Double-click Preferences
Look for a file called "com.apple.ical.plist" and remove it to the trash.
