ICal Calendar Invite

I'm using iCal to send appointment emails and am having trouble with them. I have multiple accounts set up on my iMac and sometimes my email comes from my work email (that's the preference) and sometimes they come from my personal account. How do i make the work email, the default? I also can't seem to track the accept or declines.

Hi kbglaze4,
I know your pain. I've created an iCal plug-in called Zamain for Mac to resolve iCal-to-Outlook compatibility issues, but one of it's features might help you out:
* Supports sending Apple iCal invitations from multiple Apple Mail email accounts
When you send an invitation, Zamain for Mac will intercept the invitation and prompt you to select the account that you want to send from. That account will automatically be used as the the reply-to address as well. You can learn more about the software here: http://www.zamain.com.
Good luck!

  • How do I stop receiving calendar invites on iCal/iCloud and use exchange 2013 calendar instead?

I Have an exchange 2013 email account which isn't registered as part of my iCloud account.
i Use my outlook calendar (exch) for work and the same exch calendar day to day from all my iOS devices.
when a colleague or outside email away from my company sends me a calendar meeting request, it works fine. (Using my exch email as the invite recipient).
my girlfriend sends me a meeting request from her hotmail account using the same exch email address for me, but he. Invites always arrive to my iCloud/iCal calendar instead! I can't seem to change it so I often miss diary notes or reminders unless I constantly look at both calendars.
i Just want to use exchange calendar and lose iCal (or if easier sync both iCal and exchange calendars vica versa - but that may be over complicating the issue, basically I just need one calendar and would rather it be my outlook exchange cal)
    any ideas?

    Hello again,
False alarm..... it didnt work sorry.
I removed the iCal accounts from my mac, and also from my iphone. Then when my partner sent me a calendar invite it simply didnt arrive at all!
She has a hotmail account installed on her IOS iphone 5.
She is sending the invite to my exch 2013 email address which is not associated with any icloud account.
My exch 2013 email is installed in both my Outlook for mac 2011 and IOS device Iphone 5s.
When I switch the iCloud Calendar back on in my iphone 5s, the invite comes through but ONLY optional to the icloud calendar. I cannot seem to get it receiving on my default calendar which is set to Exchange 2013 account.
Its very strange as its only her invites that do this. Anyone else's come through on my exchange calendar because its the same email address receeving it my end.

  • Exchange calendar invitations accepted in IOS remain "new" in iCal

My work calendar and email is based on Exchange. I manage both from a Mac (using Outlook 2011 for Mac) and an iPhone 5 running IOS 7.latest.
It works just fine. If I accept an invitation on any platform is is accepted on all. Then I look at OSX Calender (which I will refer to as iCal) and I still see a mass of invitations (the ones that I accepted on my phone or using Outlook).
I use iCal because I share calendars with the rest of my family using iCloud. So that I can view my work and home calendars in one place, I have also set up iCal to see both iCloud and Exchange calendars.
The iCloud side of the house does what I want it to do. The problem comes with the way iCal deals with calendar invitations from my Exchange account. Here goes:
I receive an Exchange calendar invitation.
I process it (accept/tentative/decline) using Outlook on the Mac or the IOS Calendar on my iPhone.
The invitation on the device I didn't use goes away.
    I open iCal.
The "new" invitation is still there in iCal waiting to be processed, the only way to clear it is to accept/tentative/decline it.
I cannot find any setting to prevent this from happening. iCal seems to ignore changes in status of Exchange invitations.
Any ideas gratefully accepted! Thanks, Charlie

have had what I think is similar issue.... on both ipad and iphone.  Running IOS6.  Have gmail account setup through exchange connector.  IOS receives and accepts invites just fine from external devices....  If i create a new invite on the IOS device and add invitees with external email addresses, once this calendar invite is saved into the diary it doesnt trigger invites to go out to those 3rd parties... but the invite definitely is in the calendar as can also see it on mast google calendar.
If I then go and move the timing of the invite that has been created on the IOS device (by holding down and dragging to new time) this then immediately triggers an invite (new Invitiation, not reschedule) to be sent to the external email addresses...  any further modification to timing of invite then triggers 'reschedule' calendar invites to go out - so expected behaviour.
The issue is that IOS is not triggering the invite to go out to external parties who have been added to a newly created invite - and it only does this when the date/time of the invite is modified.
Spent about 1.5 hrs on phone to apple support yesterday - they have now passed on to 3rd level support....
Are others seeing the same behaviour as above?

  • Cannot receive calendar invites in iCal

Since upgrading to iOS 7, when my wife (who uses iCloud with an @outlook.com address) sends me a calendar invite, it comes to me (using an @icloud.com address) as an email rather than a notification to my iCal app, on any device. When I accept the event, it won't add to iCal either. Does anyone have any idea why this is?

I Used to able to accept events from outside the iCloud world and add them automatically to the calendar.
    NOw nothing.

  • Why every time I receive a calendar invitation my iCal crashes?

Every time I receive a calendar invitation, even if I don't open it, iCal will automatically schedule that as an appointment. The time set up though will be shown as a grey color and I cannot make any change, or even access it. On top of it, if I try to access that day, when I am viewing my calendar as a day (day, week, month...) iCal will definatelly crash and when I try to re launch it will open but I would not be able to see that day in day view again.
To solve the problem I need to go to my iCal on my MAC and reject the invitation. Only then my calendar either in my iPhone or iPad will relaunch properly.
    Such a pain.

The iphone and ipad must be connected to the same icloud account.  Are you by chance using different IDs to connect from each device?

  • Can I get iCal to respond to Google Calendar invitations?

Ever since MobileMe forced everyone to switch to the new CalDAV calendars, iCal.app stopped responding to iCalendar (ICS) invitations that I receive via email from Google Calendar users. Here's what's happening:
I receive a Google Calendar email, open it in Mail.app, and double-click on the ICS email file attachment.
Mail passes the ICS to iCal.app, which automatically creates a new calendar entry. However, the only choice I have for the new even under the "NOTIFICATIONS" side pane in iCal is an "OK" button. (Prior to the MobileMe Calendar update, I could accept or decline a meeting from the Notifications pane.)
I can open the meeting in iCal to reveal "Maybe", "Decline", and "Accept" buttons, but—for example—choosing the Accept button doesn't send an iCalendar email response back to the meeting organizer. The fact that I just accepted the event is also not reflected in iCal. Furthermore, iCal doesn't let me edit or add a new alarm to the event.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions for how to restore the old behavior!
P.S. Here are links to two other calendaring issues that cropped up since the MobileMe change:
How do I set the meeting organizer email address for the new CalDAV calendar?
Can I get Google to recognize my iCal invitations?

I have the same problem and it is not limited to Google Calendar invitations. Very frustrating! I can't find a solution anywhere other than replying to the invite message manually ... very poor workaround.

  • ICal Sending Repeat Calendar Invitations

I setup a recurring calendar invitation in iCal, and it sent half a dozen invitations after the initial invitation was accepted. What's going on?

I am having the same issue when sending iCal event invitations to Outlook users (both are on macs). They just don't receive any email invite to reply to, so remain unaware of the event.
I cannot see a way of checking whether they have even been sent, as non-Outlook users receive the invite emails fine.
Is there a log somewhere that lists the invites sent out perhaps?
I can't believe it's impossible to invite an Outlook user to an event via iCal on a mac, any suggestions would be gratefully received.
I'm using OSX 10.7.5. iCal is linked to an iCloud account that used to be a MobileMe account.
I tried following the instructions in: http://www.ehow.com/how_5887667_send-ical-invites-outlook.html, but couldn't get the code to "compile" without errors, so reverted to the original.

  • Calendar invites going to email not iCal

My family relies heavily on calendar invites, it's how we all sync our schedules and know what's going on when, who needs to be where, etc.  Several months ago when sending an invite to my daughter from my Outlook calendar she was no longer receiving the invites to accept.  I found a work around of sending the inviteto her iCloud.com address instead of her outlook.com address.  When sending an invite to her iCloud email the event would automatically pop up in her phone calendar inbox (she would get an audible alert and the red 1 circle would show up on her phone calendar), she could accept and the event would then be on her calendar.
Fast forward a few months, I got an invite from my husband to my gmail.com accnt as always and instead of allowing me to decline or accept via email on my phone like it always had, the invite shows up in my email as a mime-attachment.ics attachment.  In the past I could accept the invite, but it goes to my gmail calendar which I never use and not my iPhone calendar.  The event doesn't show up on my iPhone calendar, but I will get a reminder from gmail on my phone at the time the event is due (which is not helpful, I need the events on my phone calendar, not my gmail calendar.  I don't even know how to view my gmail calendar and I need to know of appointments before they're due).  I've always used my gmail account on my phone and it is also my apple ID.  There must have been an update somewhere along the way where things changed.  So, I created an iCloud.com accnt and when my husband sends the invite from his Outlook on his laptop to myiCloud.com address it's still going to my email and not my calendar on my phone.  Now, when I click on the attachment to accept it closes out my email and takes me to my home screen.  I know that my phone calendar is working.  If I add events via my laptop in Outlook they will sync to my phone.  And if my older kids send me a calendar invite from their iPhones, it will pop up in my iPhone calendar and I can accept and the event goes onto my phone calendar. I need to know how/where people who do not have an iPhone should send me invites so they show up in my iPhone calendar. I have an iPhone 5S with IOS 8.1.

Any help out there?  All I use is Apple, need Google calndar to go away...

  • How do I decline an invite on a shared ical calendar?

My team uses a shared iCal calendar for our team events.  How can you decline an event in a shared calendar without deleting it completely off the calendar for everyone else?

  • Issues with calendar invites from Outlook address that come to my gmail on iPhone

I have been trying for HOURS to get to the bottom of this iPhone calendar invite problem I'm having. I'll try to summarize.
I LOVE iCal and I want to continue using it. Though I have a personal mid-2010 Macbook Pro, I don't use it too much (my company functions solely on Windows). I almost exclusively use my iPhone 4S for calendar purposes. Yes, my calendar is synced up to iCloud. I have a gmail account as my primary apple ID and my mail account on the iPhone is synced with gmail. I've been very annoyed lately as I have been receiving a lot of calendar invites from a friend who has Outlook, and I cannot accept or decline when I received her invite. The events are added to my calendar, grayed out.
After much research, I realized that I had to setup my gmail account as an Exchange account on my iPhone, which I did. I then sent myself a test invite from Lotus Notes, and low and behold, I can now accept and decline!
..but I am VERY particular about my calendar organization, and I want to be able to choose which calendar the event is added to; however, it is added to my exchange (gmail) calendar, I guess because it was received on the gmail server. I want my calendar invites to be received on my ios device calendar! I don't know if having people use my .me account would help, but I don't want to tell everyone to change the email address to which they send me notifications, because I want to continue to receive mail at my gmail account (like the many calendars, I have many folders there and have everything set up the way I want it).
I get emails concerning work, events, tennis matches, etc via my gmail account, and I want to sort them to the correct calendar when the invite comes to my gmail while STILL maintaining the functionality to accept and decline invites.
    Is this a crazy question?

I posted this question a while ago and didn't receive any responses but there are a lot of people who have viewed it and 10 have said they have the same question so I thought I would update you that I added my nanny to my exchange server account (created an email for her) and I send all invites to that email address and they work.  So sending invites from an exchange server account to a non-exchange server account apparently is a bug so to solve it, get on an exchange server I guess.

  • When I receive appointments by email and accept them they go into the enourage "on my mac" ical calendar which is not synced with mobileme.  How do I change where appointments are put ?

When I receive appointments by email and accept them they go into the enourage "on my mac" ical calendar which is not synced with mobileme.  How do I change where appointments are put ?
Or how can I choose where the appointment is put ?
I use the mobileme sync services so the ical calendars that are synced are those in the "[email protected]" group.
    Please help !
    Nick

Actually you can't drag the appointment to ano calendar - its says "You can’t make changes to this invitation., Only the organiser can change this event"
Also if you double click on the received appointment and open the window the only calendars shown that you can select are the 'on my mac" ones, and not the sync'd ones.
    Any ideas welcome !!

  • ICal Email Invitations

I have setup my office calendar using CalDev to my office computer and almost everything works as expected.
I have "On My Mac" calendars and "CalDev" calendars on both my workstations (OSX 10.6.8) and on my server (OSX 10.8.2) user accounts.  When I invite someone from a "On My Mac" calendar an email is sent to the invitee, as desired.  When I invite someone from a "CalDev" calendar, no email is sent to the invitee.
Is this how Apple intended iCal invitations to work, or is it a bug?  It would seem to me that in an office using shared "CalDev" calendars, invitations should be able to be sent to other employees via email.  Any comments would be appreciated.

Apparently the answer is Google Calendar.

  • Accepting calendar invites puts appointment at wrong time

When I get a calendar invite via Mail on my iPhone 3GS (iOS 6.1.3) and accept it,  it puts
the appointment in the calendar based on the invite time basis (eastern time) rather than converting it
to my iPhone time zone (mountain time).    If I pull that same email invite up on my iMac Mail program and click on the
link then accept it, iCal on the iMac places it at the right time.   And, when I sync the iPhone with the iMac,  the appointments transfer correctly.
I have time zone support on settings set to mountain time on the iPhone.   Is there some other setting I have to make to
have the iPhone "read" these invites correctly?  Any clues as to getting this corrected would be appreciated.

    Hello Bruce,
Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.  You may need to turn off the Time Zone Support for the calendar entries to match your current time zone on your iPhone:
If you do not use Time Zone Support, your iOS device will default to the current clock setting. iOS devices that are location aware will automatically set their time zone, date, and time using Location Services. You can verify your current date and time settings in Settings > Date & Time.
To disable Time Zone Support for calendars
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Scroll down to Calendars.
    Tap Time Zone Support.
Slide the slider for Time Zone Support to OFF.
You can find the full article here:

I hope this helps get you back on track!
    All the best,
    Sheila M.

  • Is there a plain English guide to sharing iCal Calendars via OSX Server Mountain Lion?

Is there a plain English guide to sharing iCal Calendars via OSX Server Mountain Lion? The present documentation is very limited and of no assistance to a beginner like me.

I don't have a domain set up on OSXServer  I just have server.myserver.private. I have no mail services at server.myserver.private. I uses [email protected] (a different server)  as the email address in the setup process.
When I go to share the calendar it requires a valid email address, rather than [email protected], so I enter my email address as a test, I try many other email addresses too but the server responds with an error stating " (email adress) was not recognized by the server.  A new invitation has not been sent.

  • Can't respond and get rid of a Calendar invitation

This is the second time recently I've had an issue with a Calendar invitation.  However, this one is after I upgraded to iOS 8 (currently on 8.1).
Right now, I have a notification badge on my Calendar icon and in my invite box there's an invite from my wife for an event.  She sent her invitation from her iPhone using her Home iCal calendar.  On my iPhone, I can see the event in my personal iCal calendar and I also subscribe to her calendar so I see it listed twice.  However, the invitation won't go away.
Furthermore, the invitation looks corrupt.  The From: is listed as "somebody" and my only action I can select is "OK".  However even when I select OK it does nothing.  I can click on the invitation and the invitation details are accurate.  It also does show that it's from my wife's Home iCal calendar.
I did uncheck that calendar as one I subscribe to, but the invitation still remains.
I do not have this issue on my iPad Air, MacBook Air, or in iCloud.  I'm running iOS 8.1 on both my iPhone 6+ and iPad Air and running Yosemite on my MacBook Air.
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this invitation or get Calendar to let me OK it and have it go away??
    Thanks!
