ICal calendar missing after synch with iCloud

I am using OS X 10.8.5 and iCal 6.0. When I tried to synch with iCloud it initially got stuck updating the server. After force quiting the program the calendar is now gone. Is there any way to get the missing calendar back?

I have had exactly the same problem - clearly a common problem Apple should be looking at preventing?! Is there any way I can safely activate iCloud calendars etc once I've restored my backed up calendar without everything being erased again? Any help much appreciated, thanks

  • IPhone's calendar wiped after synching with Outlook via iTunes

I replaced my dead laptop with a new one running Windows 8 and Outlook 2013. I went to synch it with my iPhone 4 using iTunes and it wiped my phone's calendar. I *never* clicked to synch *from* Outlook. Any hope of finding/restoring that data? Thank you.

I have had this problem too. And discovered now that you have two calendars called calendar and home. By default your ipod uses the home calendar which will not sync with outlook. Go into settings on your ipod/iphone and select mail, contacts, calendar. Under the calendar section select Default Calendar and then calendar. It should sync now. Also any thing you added on our ipod since the update you will have to re-enter it under the new default setting. I don't know if this works with contacts, I'm at work now and I don't use contacts here only at home. But this has seem to work for my outlook calendar here. Hopes this help

  • Calendar wiped after synching with BB

I recently received an upgrade of my BB software.  I think it was an upgarde of my 4.6 software.  When I then next synched my BB 9000 the calendar was wiped from outlook.  The data (including historic) remains on the device.  Synching had worked well before that.  How can I get the data off my device back into outlook?
    Any help welcome.

If you previously used to sync the phone with this computer, there maybe previous backups on it.
Did you try restoring to an older iTunes backup, like described here?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
If that fails, it also happens that there are backups somehow not shown by iTunes. Check the following folders to see:
    *  Mac: ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/MobileSync/Backup/
    * Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\ApplicationData\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    * Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\AppleComputer\MobileSync\Backup\
Please note that Application Data folder under XP is a hidden folder!Similarly AppData under Win7 and Vista.
If all else fails, here is the last one.I have found a way to recover iPhone address book entries in case they have been wiped out - as they are still there in the file in a way. All you need is to download the address book file from your phone (AddressBook.sqlitedb), and upload it to my website for automatic recovery:

  • How to eliminate duplicate calendar entries after sync with iCloud ?

I just upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS5 and set up sync through iCloud. Now all my iCal entries appear twice on the iPhone, even though they appear only once on my Mac mini (running Lion).
How do I stop this happening? And how do I get a clean calendar on the iPhone?
    Neil

Ok, I solved my own problem. I thought I had unchecked "Sync Calendar" in iTunes on the Mac mini, but it turns out I had not. As soon as I unchecked that box and let the system delete that calendar, all the duplicate entries went away.

  • TS4118 is there an alternative to manually remove ical duplicates after sync with icloud

There is a discussion on this issue:
TS4118: If you see duplicate calendars or events after setting up iCloud Calendar.
However, the suggestion there is, if the duplicates are also in your icloud, to delete the duplicates MANUALLY.
I have been using ical or its predecessor since 1999. Removing all the duplicates between 1999 and 2014 manually is not why I have a computer.
I noticed the problem after having upgraded from 10.7.5 to 10.9.2. Before 10.9, I did the syncing of my mac with iphone and ipad over the cable and itune. this worked fine.
Since after upgrading to 10.9  you have to do it over icloud, this is what I did.
Is there a way around a manual deletion?

    Hello nomenest,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with duplicate calendar events after setting up iCloud.  I would be concerned about this too.
It sounds like you have checked iCloud.com and see the duplicates there.  If you are seeing the duplicates on iCloud.com, I recommend contacting iCloud Support for assistance:
    Symptoms
After you set up iCloud Calendar, you might see duplicate calendars or calendar events on your iOS device, Mac, or PC.
    Resolution
Find out if calendars or events are also duplicated on iCloud.com
First, check Calendar on iCloud.com to see if calendars or events are also duplicated there. If they are, then contact iCloud Support for help.

  • HT2513 my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple.  no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple.  Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac".  Any ideas?

my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple.  no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple.  Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac".  Any ideas on how to correct this?  This seems like a trivial error, but it's super annoying.

I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem.  It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about.  (there was a new iCloud release, hence...)  No ETA for a fix yet.  I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list.  I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve).  I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward.  They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset.  ;-)

  • HT1296 When synching Outlook Contacts and calendars with iTunes for Windows, I do not get the option to "Synch Contacts with". It says, and cannot be changed, that it is synching with iCloud.  How do I get iTunes to give me an option other than iCloud?

Using iTunes for Windows to synch my Outlook Contacts and Calendars into my iPhone 5, with the iPhone Device designated and in the Info tab, I do not have the option to "Synch Contacts with", but have an unchangeable message that it is synching with iCloud. How do I create that option to synch with Outlook?

  • ICal calendar sharing after iCloud transition

iCal calendar sharing after iCloud transition does not work the same. I would like to be able to share a calendar in web view as I was able to before...
I am still able to invite others who have iCloud to see my calendar, but not PC users or others who do not have similar software. I want a url for the calendar soe I can send it to a group to view only. This was possible before the transistion! Please help!

In your iPhone (or iPad) go to settings/general settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars and at the top under "Accounts" you will see "Subscribed Calenars" (not in the calendar section, above that at the top of the page)... click on the calendar you want to delete and do so from there.

  • Does Mac Outlook synch with iCloud?

After spending a couple of hours at Genuis bar and another 90 minutes on the phone with tech support, I wanted to let the community know that Mac Outlook does not synch with iCloud.  The calendar and contact updates go into a "on the Mac" part of iCal and Address Book respectively.  The updates in these sections do not get synched up to iCloud and therefore to your mobile devices.
As I had searched for an answer to this question on the web previously and did not find any entry so I wanted to ensure that others looking for answer can get it (without tying up Apple's tech support resources).  The extra time that I spent was trying to remove and resynch these databases before finding someone who knew the answer.
For calendar activities, you can reclass them into an iCloud category manually.  For contact update, you have to also put them into the Address Book.
I hope this helps.  Hopefully, Apple provides the access and Microsoft implements the code required to synch these services.

Thank you so much for unequivocally clearing this up! I have spent the last few days trying to work this out as I found it insane that I can easily sync Outlook (2007 I think it is) on my PC with the iCloud but couldn't get it to work on my husbands Outlook for Mac 2011.
I hope people find your post first rather than wading through a million other posts in utter frustration like I did! Whilst it's still frustrating at least I have some peace that I'm not missing something.
    Thanks again!

  • Duplicate Calendar Entries after Setting up iCloud

I just installed iOS 5 on my iPhone, and upgraded to the latest and greatest OS X Lion on my iMac to use iCloud. Unfortunately, it appears to have created duplicate entries for all of my calendar entries. Rather than syncing my existing iCal calendars, it looks like it created all new 'iCloud' versions of those same calendars so I have double of everything. (For example, before I had 'Home' and 'Work', etc. now I have 'iCloud Home' and 'iCloud Work') This makes no sense to me...am I just supposed to delete my old calendars and just go with the iCloud ones now? Why wouldn't they automatically do that for you if that's the case? Not very intuitive. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Additionally, from what I can tell, if I create a new entry under one of the iCloud calendars, it WILL show up on my iPhone. However, on my iPhone, I DO NOT have those same 'iCloud Home' calendars listed, just one that says 'All iCloud'. Unfortunately, that means I can't create a new calendar entry that syncs with iCloud. If I create an entry under 'Work' on my iPhone, it DOES NOT sync with iCloud and show up on iCal on my Mac. There is no way this is correct behavior, as that is one of the main benefits of syncinc calendars.
Does anyone have any solutions for these issues? Thank you.

Okay, got it sorted; hopefully this will help others out.
My situation: calendars were working fine on my Mac, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS and iCloud up until Friday evening when I activated my new 4S.  Then all heck broke loose, and my calendar events started triplicating (quadrupling, in some cases).  The calendars themselves did not, just the events.  I believe what caused it is that I restored my 4S from a backup of my 3GS, and didn't turn off iCloud on the 3GS before doing so.  So the system got confused and started replicating things like mad.  Then I remembered Time Machine!
    Here's the solution:
    1. Backup jacked-up calendars on your Mac (just in case, you can always go back and manually fix them...gag).
    2. Turn off iCloud syncing on your devices (all of them), including your Mac; this will prompt you to delete the data on the devices, and that's okay (take a deep breath...)
    3. You should now have no calendar data on any device; it should only reside out on iCloud; verify this by logging into the site and checking
    4. In Finder, navigate to <you_user_dir>/Library and make sure you have a Calendars folder (hold Option and click the Go menu and you'll see it the Library folder...they hid it in Lion); don't open the folder, just make sure it's there
    5. From the Library folder, enter Time Machine and select a date you know was working (in my case, I had to go back to before Wednesday to make sure iCloud was not in use on my machine at the time, you might have to do the same, depending on when you started using iCloud)
    6. Click the magic Restore button in the lower right-hand corner; you'll be fast-forwarded to the same folder in the present, and asked if you want to replace or keep the duplicate items; choose Replace
    7. After the copy is done, open iCal; you should see all your events restored to their normal glory
    8. Log into the iCloud.com website and nuke all of your calendars; yes, you read that right, kill them all...or you'll be back at square one. Because you have to have at least one calendar, I created one called "junk" and left it in there temporarily
    9. Back on your Mac desktop, go to System Preferences and turn on Calendars in the iCloud control panel; if you have iCal open still, you might have a freak-out moment where everything disappears (I did...).  Don't panic, this is normal; if you look at the website, you'll see your calendars start appearing there, and shortly the same will hold true for iCal on your Mac
    10. Once you've confirmed that everything looks spiffy, delete the "junk" folder on iCloud.com
    11. One device at a time (I did my 4S first, then my iPad 2), turn on iCloud for Calendar syncing; just to be careful, let each device finish updating before you turn on the next (it probably doesn't matter, but I'm paranoid at this point).
    12. Voila, you should now have all calendars in sync across all your devices, your Mac, and iCloud.com
Hopefully this helps some people out; it's the only way I could get it to work and restore my calendars back to a useable state.
    Take care!

  • I lost e-mails after synching to iCloud

After synching to iCloud, I lost hundreds of e-mails in Smart Mailbox Folders. I do not have Time Machine. Any thoughts?

Restore them from the most recent backup you made of your contacts stored in the contact manager you sync with through iTunes on your computer (Address Book for Mac, or Outlook for PC)

  • My address book will not synch with iCloud or iPhone 4

Since upgrading to lion, my address book will not synch with icloud or my iphone 4.  Any idea what I should do?

I can't figure out what's going on.  Been working on this all day.  Yes, all the preferences are checked off and I've triple checked everything.  The truth is, after many experiments, I think the problem has to do with how address book is communicating with my contact list.  I use quickbooks 2012 for mac.  It has all of my customers and vendors synched with my address book on my mac.  If I add a customer in quickbooks it shows up in address book on my mac.  But it doesn't show up in Icloud or on my Iphone.  If I manually add a customer to my Iphone it synchs fine with Icloud and my address book.  It seems that the only time devices can't communicate is when I add a contact in quickbooks.  No matter what I do, I can't get the new contact from quickbooks to icloud or my iphone.  It looks like those programs/devices completely ignore the new contact in address book that was created in quickbooks.  I realize you probably can't help me here but if you have any ideas let me know.

  • HT4910 Is backing up to icloud different than synching with icloud?

my contacts and calendar are synched with icloud.com  If i reset my phone, will the contacts and calendars come back to my phone when it reconnect to the cloud? Or do I have to do a backup? Is backing up to icloud differemt than synching?

They aren't the same thing, you don't need to back up for iCloud to repopulate your contacts etc., when you log back in.
I wouldn't recommend not backing up though, however:
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.
