ICal Calendars Showing Up Three Different Ways

I have something really strange going on. I have my macbook, iPad, and iPhone synced with regards to iCal. When I go to look at the list of calendars they are all different.
1. My iPhone has some mysterious calendar that I'm subscribed to. It has no title and it doesn't show up on my macbook or iPad. I'm really baffled by it and can't figure out how to delete it.
2. I have US holidays as a subscribed calendar. I've deleted it from my macbook, thinking my other two devise would follow suit, and they didn't. If I make changes to the calendar like adding an event, it works fine, but manipulating the actual list of calendars is not syncing across the devices.
I really need to fix this as I'm trying got organize work calendars and have it synced between all three devices. Anyone else experiencing this?

TS4118 When I print out my ical calendars, there are three duplicate events happening every day of the week and I never entered this event?

When I print out my calendars from ical, there is one event that is reoccurring 3x/day/every day of week! It is not showing on the actual calendar and I cannot figure out how or where it's coming from? It's in the calendar marked Jimmys action which just shows my sons activities and for this activitiy, I put one day with a recurring weekly on just two days of the week at a specific time and this is showing up as well and correctly? What should I do to remedy this?

UPDATE: I think I found the answer to my problem. I travel between two time zones and recently started listing event times as "floating" so they don't get messed up when I travel between west and east coasts. It seems that when I want to print out a calendar sheet, the time of the event doesn't show up if it's a "floating" event. So, I need to go back to putting a time zone in and turning off "time support" in Preferences for iCal. BTW this (in reverse) is a solution for those who don't want to see appointment times printed out – make it a "floating" event.

Podcasts show up 3 different ways, 1 of them wrong

howdy. on my 30gb ipod, i have the main menu set to show podcasts at the root of the menu for easy access. that's fine. then if i go to music|podcasts, that's fine also. but, if i go to genres|podcasts (the only way i can get to my podcasts via my harmon kardon drive+play), i not only get my current podcasts, but older ones that are already marked as played in itunes. here's my setting:
check for new episodes: every day
when new episodes are available: download them all
keep: all unplayed episodes
sync: all unplayed episodes of all podcasts
wxp sp2, itunes 7.0.2, ipod 1.2.1.
any ideas?

How can you use one image and edit it three different ways to export later?

I am a new Lightroom 3 user. How can use the same image and edit it multiple ways to produce mulitple images to later export? For example, I have a picture of a bride and groom. I want to use that image and create a color image, a black and white image, and a close up of their hands.

Do I need to do either of those options before I start editing the image at all? For example, what if I am working on the image and doing some creative edits. Then I think of another option that I could do. Is it too late at that time or can I still get the original image to begin with?

Can an event in iCal be posted to multiple iCal calendars?

I'm in a syncing nightmare! I just got an iPhone and in order to sync both with my Outlook calendar at work and my iCal calendar at home, I'm using Google Calendar as the intermediary. But I'm having trouble maintaining the integrity of my categories. I think I can get this to work if I delete all but my primary Google calendar and sync it with iCal. I tested it this morning by creating an iCal calendar with the same name as my primary Google calendar ([email protected]) and it worked. But I want to maintain my different iCal calendars ("work" "home" "health care" etc.), but I don't see a way to have an event show up in more than one iCal calendar. Is there a way to duplicate an event so that in iCal, it can be in both the [email protected] calendar and a "home" or other calendar?

Accessing my .mac mail account from 3 different ways. What stays on server?

I access the mail on my .mac mail account (on the .mac mail server) three different ways.
My laptop uses the Mail application and downloads new messages that are not filtered out as spam. Downloaded messages should not be automatically deleted from the server - at least I don't think they are. They were all erased at one point. Maybe my error. But not now. at least since 4/2/08.
Why?
Because later in the day I may want to access my account email from a remote computer via the .mac account page on any browser I might be using. I'd want it all to be there.
Or I may want to download my email to my Palm Treo 700P using Versamail and read and respond to my email that way. I certainly would not want email downloaded to my Treo erased from the server because I would want to access that same email to store on my Mail account on my laptop when I return to the office.
How do I coordinate among all 3?
I think I would like all mail put in the trash via my Mail application on my desktop to be erased from the server after - say - 2 weeks. That's it. Only via the Mail application.
Never via the Treo and Versamail.
Never via my .mac account email application via a browser on another computer.

You can access a .Mac account as an IMAP or POP account.
If you access your .Mac account as an IMAP account with the Mail.app on your Mac, and as an IMAP account with your Palm Treo, all server stored mailboxes will be kept synchronized with the server automatically with both email clients used, and when accessing the account via webmail using a browser.
You can store the account's Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk mailboxes on the server with the Mail.app, and you should be able to do the same with the Palm Treo's email client.
Send a message via the account with the Palm Treo, and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox automatically when checking the account with the Mail.app on your Mac, and when checking the account via webmail using a browser, and vice-versa.
An IMAP account is designed to be accessed with an email client on multiple computers or devices. A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client on one computer or device.
With an IMAP account, messages in all server stored mailboxes remain on the server until deleted, or until moved to a mailbox stored locally on your computer. All received messages will remain on the server in the account's Inbox mailbox - available when checking the account with the Mail.app, and when checking the account with your Palm Treo, and when checking the account via webmail. Read a received message with the Mail.app that is not deleted, and the message will be marked as read when checking the account with your Palm Treo, and vice-versa.

iCal just shows the calendars you have created in your account(s). So if you are using iCloud just log into your iCloud account in a web browser and make as many new calendars as you wish to have. Then enable those in iCal.
If you use Google accounts or something else for the calendars, then create them as needed, and enable them in iCal.
I have several separate calendars all displayed in iCal - a couple linked through my Gmail accounts, and one through my iCloud account. Each uses a different default item color so they are distinct in iCal.

Hi, Im not a frequent forum poster, as most of my questions can be found already answered on them!
This is a question Ive had for a long time and it amazes me that no-one else seems to ask it. I check at each OS upgrade but its never there...
Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
I was able to do this years ago in MS Outlook, and utilized it all the time when I needed to push things back, now I have to open the event and select an new date in the drop-down calendar for each & every event I want to move to a new month at the end of the month.
If its definitely not possible, how to you ask apple to consider including it - it doesnt seem like a particularly difficult task.

No, but you can use cut/paste. Cut (⌘X) the event, then click on the week where you want to move the event, and Paste (⌘V).
If you have a suggestion for Apple to change that method use: Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback.

I guess techinically it is a recurring calendar but all the exercises recur at different intervals

If you want to share albums on dropbox or similar web services, set the album in your custom order and use the export command to a temporary folder on your computer. To keep the sort order, use the option to rename with a common starting text string plus an order number. Since you'll upload those files to Internet, also use the resizing feature to export in a reasonable size, not too big for uploading/downloading, and not too small if you want your relatives to able to print and not only to view.
So, you'll get a folder ready to upload and share via Dropbox or another Web service.

How do I show only ONE iCal calendar at a time?

I'm using iCal to manage several different calendars on different websites and also have different calendars of my own. Currently they all show in iCal and this is getting very difficult to manage. How do I adjust iCal to show only the events associated with one calendar, e.g. the calendar I have clicked on, rather than all of them? Do they all have to show?

Thanks - that's better than nothing, but switching them off/ on is still a bit fiddly as I will want to update different calendars frequently.
I was hoping that it would be possible to set it up to simply show the calendar you had clicked on on at the moment, and also to set a default set of calendars to be on as a group (i.e. those I use to organise my own time).
With one click I could then go from my personal calendars to one used for an external website and back again.

Anyone know if there is a way to merge several iCal calendars into one Calendar? I've separated a few different calendars for things and want to merge all of those events into one universal Calendar. I asked Apple Support and they stated there isn't a way to do this. So, I'm throwing this out there in case someone knows a way.

Found the answer after troubleshooting on my own. I was able to do this on a PC by using Office 2007 and the calendar in there. I also had to setup Mobile Me to the calendar on my PC which was fairly easy.
What you'll have to do is have Mobileme sync your calendar data with Outlook.
Then after they sync in Outlook... manually select each imported calendar, choose to view all appointments, select all (to select all of your events), copy, then paste them into the main "Calendar".
Follow this step for all of your calendars and it works like charm.
The only thing left to do after you've copied them all is to delete the old calendars after you have all of the events copied.
This may be able to be done in iCal too using similar methods, however it was really easy for me to do it in Windows with Outlook 2007.
Just keep in mind that you want to view all events from each separate calendar and just copy those into your main calendar.

Ical time shows when looking at it but printed three dots show up

Just wondering if anybody could help me out. When I look at the calendar everything looks correct but when I print the time is not showing and three dots show up in front instead of the time any ideas.

This happens if the timezone for an event is "Floating". It doesn't matter if Timezone support (in iCal preferences) is enabled or not.
These are just my observations:
If TZ Support is OFF, and you manually create an event -- times will print. If you then enable TZ support, those events will become "floating".
If TZ support is ON, and you enter an event, TZ for that event will be filled in automatically, and time printing will work. If you change the event to a "floating" time, the time will not print.
For me, floating would be preferable. I tend to think about times in whatever timezone I'm in.

I create a birthday calendar in iCal and then click on it in iphoto at the begining of the calendar project each year. Some how the birthday did not populate the photo calendar. Is there a way to add the birthday iCal calendar into the calendar project?

If you first select the calendar on the left, so that its background is highlighted blue/grey, when you make a new events they should be added to that calendar.

I have Outlook at work and would like my calendar to show up on my phone. I don't want my personal calendar entries to show up on my work's calendar. Is this possible?

ApplesScript needed to copy iCal event and move into different calendar

I hope someone can help with this request.
For starters, I'm clueless on AppleScript and don't have the time or energy to learn it.
I am looking for a script that will copy an event in one calendar and move it to my CalDav (Google) calendar - which I intend using as my primary calendar going forward.
My techie friends give me strange looks when I explain how I came to this situation: I have to accept Outlook meeting invitations in Entourage to avoid the problem of events showing up 2 hours early (or late - can't remember which) in iCal. I have iCal and Entourage synced, with the events being pushed to iCal in a calendar named 'Entourage'.
I would like any 'Entourage' events to be copied and moved to my Google calendar, after which it syncs with the cloud.
Any assistance or advice?

There's a strong element of irony in coming across a solution after doing a search on 'Entourage' and 'Google Calendar' syncing.

The nice thing is you can choose which of your iCal calendars to sync.
I use Entourage to accept meeting requests - iCal used to have trouble with time zones in meeting requests sent from Outlook - so have used the work-around of accepting in Entourage, and syncing it with iCal. This syncing process creates a separate calendar in iCal.
In theory, I could simply use that as my primary calendar - which I haven't thus far, but may well do.
As the synched Google Calendar shows up in iCal, you do end up with duplications showing if you have all calendars visible. So all I've done is hide the visibility of the Entourage calendar (and my other calendars) so that all I see is my GCal.
It's a little clumsy, I'll admit, but it does the job. Which is all a little too Microsoft-ish for my liking
