Ical calenders not appearing - and database not loading
I am having serious trouble with ical. And I really need a secure calander for my job.
I changed the name of a couple of calenders - maybe two of the six - and changed the color of a couple - and about a week later I noticed that all of my appointments from before that date disappeared.
I have reloaded from my back-up - both by importing the files and by replacing all the files in the application support folder - but 6 months of it are missing from about a month ago back. And all the colors changed - and my repeat appointments duplicated themselves about 5 times over.
I also put all the files onto another computer and all of the dates appeared ok - all the wrong color & calender name - but the info was there.
So I exported the calenders from the other computer - put them on my desktop - and imported them into my ical (merging them into the calenders that I have set up). Everything looked great. So I backed up the database and exported each of the calenders (just in case) and quit ical.
When I reopened ical everything was gone again. Now the only way I can get the info back is to revert to backup - and I have to do it everytime I open ical!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have ALL of the information you need on the other computer?
If so, I would do the following:
1. Quit iCal
2. Delete all folders under the ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/ folder
3. Delete these plists from the ~/Library/Preferences folder:
com.apple.iCal.plist,
com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
*Don't empty the Trash yet!*
4. Open iCal and import the data from the other computer (not the backup database). You will need to redo all your calendar colors, but that doesn't seem like too much work.
5. Once iCal is back the way you want it, make another database backup.
The other thing you should check is in iCal->Preferences, under the Advanced tab, there are options to automatically delete events or to-do's after X many days. If you don't want events deleted make sure that box is unchecked.
See how that goes and post back w/ results.

beginning today iCal will not load. I have not had a problem before. The application starts, bounces, stands still, then there is a weird, faint, 3-buzz sound which keeps repeating, then an error message. Running OS 10.4.8 on a G4 Powerbook. All other applications seem to work fine. I have tried reinstalling, reloading from my Tiger installation disk, re-everything, but the result is still the same. What gives? Anybody have any ideas.

Go to your user's Library > Application Support > iCal > Sources. Do the following for each folder there:
Move the file 'corestorage.ics' of the folder to the Desktop. Try to open iCal. If iCal fails to open, move the 'corestorage.ics' file back into the folder where it came from.
If iCal opens fully, the calendar whose folder you removed the .ics file from will have a red exclamation mark by it. This calendar's data is corrupted. Click red exclamation mark and from the dialog that appears choose 'Reset'. With the calendar still highlighted in iCal go to the File menu and select 'Import...' and navigate to your Desktop and open the 'corestorage.ics'. The process of importing will hopefully clean the faults in the calendar.

ICal is not loading on my macbook
My ical does not load onto my macBook. It does on my mobile devices ( phone and Pads. ) i have a google cal on it and it doesnot load as well. any ideas. i have checked the acount info. it seems alright.

IDCS2 default pdf presets do not appear and cannot be loaded
after upgrading to cs2 the default pdf presets in indesign and illustrator do not appear. the job options files are in the correct folder: library/application support/adobe/adobe pdf/settings, but the dial icon does not appear (it's a gray box instead).
i am also not able to make new presets or load any presets. i get the error message "cannot create the file. the folder may be write protected" or "cannot import presets from this file".
i have uninstalled and reinstalled cs2 and acrobat 8 several times to no avail. i've also repaired permissions.
i have tried the adobe phone support, and they suggest it is my operating system?
any ideas?
Power book G4 17" osx 10.4.10I noticed this being a problem under Leopard and the update for 8.1.2 of Acrobat Pro. I just Can not get those .joboptions settings to load into IDCS2.. The permissions are set the same as those on working Macs (who are running Tiger BTW). I then opened Distiller and manually loaded each setting and resaved them out- The icons show as being .joboptions files-
IDCS2 still won't see them. It won't have anything to do with them. Oddball stuff- not every computer has the problem only those with the combination of Leopard and the Acrobat update applied. I don't have any leopard Macs with 8.1.1 or 8.1 installed so I can't report on that. -
My Ical will not load on my MAC is there a recent download that just came out?

Does the problem persist across a system restart?
You might try a restart in safe mode, then an ordinary restart - sometimes that cures weird failures. -

Javascript not loading content after updating from firefox 26 to 27
on my site i have a page on which javascript pre-loads the content and then shows it.
this thing was working perfectly fine on firefox 26 but soon as i updated to firefox 27
the content doesn't show after loading
Like i have an image for 'loading content' which first appears and then the loaded content
shows up. This image is still showing in version 27 but the content which shows after is not showing at all.
I inspected the page and the divs and content is there but its just not visible somehow.
Please help me with this problem .. im stuck with this if it doesn't show up. Thanks.this doesn't solve the problem.
actually its working on all other browsers, the content is showing.
but its not working on firefox 27. what problem could it be which is preventing version 27 from loading the content when its working just fine on version 26 (i just checked it on a different system with version 26).
also there was an instance when the same content wasn't loading on version 26 also but it was a problem due to some pinterest script. once i removed it everything became just fine i.e. content started loading (on version 26). Now, if that helps in deducing the problem please help me out. -
Hi everybody. I have recently started having problems with iCal (Version 2.05 (1069). Events that I thought I had deleted appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. Likewise Events that I have not deleted have disappeared from my calender (Month View) but appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. I see that there have been similar problems with Events disappearing especially in Month View. I wondered how print preview seemrd to be picking everything up deleted or not, and what the solution may be?. First time of Posting. I hope I haven't embarassed myself.

At the very least there must be a "com.apple.ical.plist"...iCal would not function without it.
Click on the Finder icon in the dock
Click on Go > Home
Double-click Library
Double-click Preferences
Look for a file called "com.apple.ical.plist" and remove it to the trash. -
Iphoto not loading and appears to be symptom of another problem
The first problem I had was related to Iphoto not loading - it would just hang with the spinning wheel.
The only way to stop the application was to restart the iMac.
Version of iphoto is 8.2.1.
I tried to do a "rebuild of the permissions". After 24 hours, I restarted the IMAC as it had the spinning wheel and nothing else. Restart was the only way to get control back.
I took a copy of the Iphoto db at this point. (yes I should have done that first but thought I had a backup ...read on)
I did a "Backup Now" with time machine - after 48 hours it was still spinning the wheel. Only way to stop it was a Restart.
I then looked into some other things
- it appears that time machine has not backed up for some time. It says it has but I think it is stopping at the iphoto database for some time. ie I am not sure I have a clean backup.
- at this point I have copied all my files (eg. itunes library etc) to an external drive
- I can use all other programs successfully
- I cleaned up some disk space
- I ran the disk utility to 'Verify Permissions" - see output below
- I thought it best to try and repair the iphoto database and make sure I still have the photos before I try anything more drastic eg. I am looking to upgrade to a more recent imac anyway
- I tried to download a later version of iphoto (9.1 and 9.4.1 (?)
- I came back to find a black screen and everything still whirring away in the background
- I downloaded iphoto manager - I tried to run but got a "restart your machine panic" message
At this point I am scared to do anything else and make things worse and concerned about the recovering 10 years of photos. I have most of them elsewhere as well, but this could get very messy.
Any ideas???

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions. -
Running Windows XP service pack 3. Updated Firefox from 8.0 to 9.0. Now when Firefox opens "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" is displayed in a window and no home page appears. What's wrong?
That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I am experiencing wireless connection problem on 4s after ios 8.1 upgrade. The wireless icon appears showing that it's connected but webpages do not load. I have checked my internet connection with other devices and seems to be alright. what to do?
I have tried reseting the network settings and forgetting my wireless connection and re-connecting to it. I even backed up my phone on itunes and restored it, factory reseted it. Nothing seems to work.
Also after my upgrade to ios 8.1 my personal hotspot option under cellular data has disappeared.

On my registered iTunes computer, the following message appears every time one plugs in a device and refuses to load said device to be synced: "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started". Each device has been registered onto this account and this computer, and all have worked finely in the past. I am so confused as to why now seemingly without reason, none of our apple devices (one iPod, two iPhones) are allowed to have music and other material downloaded onto them. Also, as a side note, they still are charged by plugging them into the computer, however they do not even show up on the left-hand sidebar in iTunes.

iPhoto will not load the iPhoto library. When I select "show all windows" the library does appear but cannot open it. I am on version 8.1.2 and using Maverick.
I was able to get it fixed. I had received some responses and they had me
recreate the library I believe. It's been a while so I cant remember
exactly what I did. I have since upgraded to the latest i photo version and
have had no problems with it.

Imac froze and on re load folder with question mark appeared. Now will not start up to home screen.
The other night my Imac froze during updates. I found it in the morning with the screen and mouse frozen and only the loading icon spinning. I re stared the computer from the power button.
Upon re loading the apple logo did not appear and was replaced by a folder with a question mark in the middle. I looked this up online and found the best option was to use disk utility to check and repair the hard drive. This showed an error with HFS. Used disk utility to fix the hard drive so thast no error appear. I re stared the computer but all it loaded was the folder with the question mark again, so I decided to erase the hard drive of any information (I back up quite regulary, but left it as last resort due to inconvenience), when installing again it seems to go so far before telling me it cannot install and I need to re start. I have erased the dsk again and completed disk clean too before trying again and getting the same results.
I am currenlty stuck at this point and need help, which would be appreciated.
My Imac is an early 2008 Aluminimum model and installtion disk is 10.3The folder with ? mark mean one of 2 things.
1) The OS is so corrupted that the hardware can't find it as a valid way to boot the system.
2) Your hard drive has failed.
You can try booting from the Recovery HD partition, Commadn + r keys at startup if you are running Lion Mt Lion or Mavericks.
Or boot the system from the original System reinstall DVD that came with your Mac or an upgrade OS X install DVd you may have purchased.
With either use Disk Utility to see if the hard drive is seen and if it can be erased or repartitioned and then restore from a Time Macine baclup or reinstall OS X. -
On several sites pictures do not load properly and there is just a black where the photo should appear.
Had a problem to start with and then re-loaded Firefox version 9 and restarted the computer. So far all seems to be now working correctly.
