Ical changes event time and day
whenever I add a new event to ical, I enter all the details and click done. It initially posts it where it is supposed to be, and then it switches to whatever the current date is and changes it to "all day." When I click to edit it a second time, it usually works. Why do I have to enter all the info twice to get it to stick?
Dennis, it's not you. iCal has handled time zone changes like this for some time now. As far as I can tell, Apple considers this a feature, not a bug. You see, iCal is trying to be helpful, so if you're normally in the US/Eastern time zone, and schedule something for noon, if you travel to the US/Pacific time zone, it will show the same event at 9:00 am. Technically, the same time is maintained, but unfortunately, 90% of users don't want this adjustment made for them because we don't think about time that way.
The above describes how iCal works with Time Zone Support OFF. Yes, even with Time Zone Support OFF, it auto-adjusts times when you change time zones.
When Time Zone Support is ON, it basically works the same way, except that instead of all your events being associated with one time zone (e.g. US/Eastern), you can assign different a time zone to each individual event (e.g. US/Pacific or US/Mountain). When Time Zone Support is OFF, iCal still assigns time zones to each event, but it's hidden from the user.

How do you change the time of day presets in ical?
How do you change the time of day presets in ical? I would like them to be only 1 hour difference, with the preset start times of 10:00 am and end time of 6:00 pm, if I have anything starting after 4:00 pm it also changes the date to the next day. Incredibly annoying!
Hi there jenni6,
It looks like this is possible in the Calender prefernces. Take a look at the article below for more infromation.

My problem started after the itunes update.i reset the apple tv.Now I cannot sign to itunes and i cannot reset the network time and day.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router.
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If this is a new Apple TV, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123. -

When adding event in iCal, the event becomes full-day by default. How to change?
Also, when de-clicking full-day the events becomes timed 10am-6pm. When changing start time, the end time follows with this 6 hr gap. Not the worst problem to deal with in this world, but...still. Any way of changing this little detail? I.e. to be able to double click the desired day, getting an event that starts with the current time and a 1 hr gap (as with the old version of iCal, that is).

Ical loses event name and time
Dear communitiy,
i got a serious problem with ical syncing with an SBS 2008 Exchange Server. It often happend lately that I created a new event via right-mouse-click on my calender (which is on the Exchange account). Let's say at 16.15 pm. Then I normaly change the events name and time. After a day (can't tell exactly, most times after a reboot) I find that event having changed its name back to "new event" and the time back to 16.15 pm. I'm absolutely sure I saved the event after changing it. For your Information: The Exchange account syncs with my iPhone and my Macbook at home. OSX is 10.7.2, the iPhone is iOS 5.0.
Any help would be great.
Regards
PhilippYes, I have the same problem and cannot resolve. The only common theme that I can establish is that this only appies to repeating events. Did you find a solution?

ICal moves events ahead one day
iCal will move random events to the next day.
Example, mothers day to the 12th, Monday.
Is there a fix? We use iCal for appointments and have to back it up with a paper calender just to make sure we don't miss anything.
Needless to say this is very annoying. When syncing my iPod with iTunes, my appointments
from iCal are all shifted one day ahead on the iPod
(60GB Color).
For example, the correct appointment in iCal is:
Tuesday, at 7pm
On iPod, the appointment shows up as:
Monday, at 7pm
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Pleeeeeease. Thanks in advance.
I have exactly the same problem. Only on recurring entries. I have checked everything to make sure the time, date and timezones are correct. -
ICal changes the time when importing from SonyEricsson K750i
Hi from Stockholm,
When syncing my mobile calendar and my iCal, all the times are set two hours behind.
Ex. in the phone an event could be 16.00-17.00 and in iCal it changes to 18.00-19.00.
The clocks are set the same. Timezone is deactivated.
What to do?
Thanx. Clack-boy.
PowerMac G3, 1,25 Mac OS X (10.4.7)hi
i guess you are in the wrong time zone with your K750i.
try these settings:
iCal: in "system preferences": clock: set time zone to CEST (stockholm, sweden)
K750i: settings for "time and date": "time zone" set to GMT + 2.00h and setting for "daylight saving" set to "standard time". don't set it to "Daylight saving" cuz it doesn't work properly then with iCal.
if your time on the K750i is wrong now, correct it in the section "time". but don't change the "time zone" anymore.
hope you got my meaning. apologizing for my english.
now, it should work. at least, my iCal and K750i do

ICal: editing event times broken
Can anybody confirm the following iCal behavior:
Create new event in iCal, try to edit the time to let's say hour 10.
If you type quick - no issue,
BUT
if you pause a bit between the 1 and the 0 (let's say 2 seconds) ...
then iCal automatically expands the 1 to 01 and then the 0 to 00 and you end up having the event starting at midnight, not at 10.
(by the way, have more severe issues with internet access and secondary mouse button releasing automatically after 3 seconds when using my foot switches attached via swifty USB switch interface http://www.orin.com/access/swifty/)Dennis, it's not you. iCal has handled time zone changes like this for some time now. When I crete ann event... then choose to edit the iCal event... in the edit window I click on the time area to update the time and:
1. the view now overwrites the entry it is see thru and is hard to read
2. the time is not modifiable consistently - sometimes the cursor will highlight the time in blue and allow a change ... sometimes it won't.
Anyone else experiencing this and do you have a solution?Check Date and Time prefs on your laptop. Is the time correct, and are both devices using the same time zone?

How do I change the time and date on a specific photo
I import photos from various cameras in the family. Not everyone has the date or time correct. In all older versions of iPhoto I could edit the date and time whenever the info field was available. In the current version all I can find reference to is the date for an event - not the individual photo or any means to change the time.
Great -- and note that you can create a smart album by camera type to make it easy to correct the time info for a camera that was set differently -- the adjust T/D command changes all selected photos by the same amount of time

ICal: alter events time format to hh:mm:ss
What i want to do in iCal is: Execute GarageBuy scripts by an event's alarm on date hh:mm:ss
Limitations: iCal events are limited to the time format hh:mm
Looking for: guidance how to alter the iCal code myself to change the time format to hh:mm:ss - if this is possible.
Background:
So far i experienced that in system settings / language & text / formats / times let you customize the short time to hh:mm:ss. The short time format will determine in iCal how it displays the time format of events [hh:mm:ss] in the monthly overview but unfortunately not in the event settings itself [where it is still limited to hh:mm].closing thread

Ipod touch always changes the time and date when synced
Since I got my touch, even before any updates etc, every time I sync it the time and date changes, usually back about a week or so. Anyone else got this problem or any solution as its really annoying me. A cutting edge bit of kit that has practically every function that works so well and the clock and calendar cant keep time? weird....
Not true in all cases, I updated to 2.0 and had 2 problems: One App had a Bug *NOT Apple`s fault*, and the second was another App ( again, not Apples fault ) that went back to home screen after opening. This was solved by a simple reset ( I have the first batch of Touches, 16 gb ). And the battery thing, I haven`t noticed it at all, I have an almost full charge, and have been using it for 4 days, never shut it down, only sleep mode when not in use.

Background change by time of day. (MX)
I'm redesigning my MySpace page and would like to have a
background of the an ocean/beach view with the sky in the
background. It's just like your average background yet the picture
changes depending on what time of day it is. So, if someone's
viewing my page during the day, it shows a picture of the beach
during daytime and if someone views my page at night, it shows that
same picture at nighttime. This could either be achieved using
three images (day, dusk/dawn/ and night) or if there was some way
of creating a gradation, so the color slowly changes as time
passes.
I've found a few codes online for this type of background
(one that changes depending on what time it is)...but they're all
in javascript, which MySpace doesn't allow.
I kind of figured the only way this might be possible is
through Flash, but I don't know whether you can have a .swf file as
a background or any other file that would allow for the coding
that's needed.
So basically I'm asking...is this possible and does anyone
have any idea as to what the actionscript would be?
I'd really appreciate any help.<<...Flash Player always sits on the top of the page
content, so [[I don't think]] you could use it as a background with
regular HTML content on top of it.>>
Can anyone confirm this for sure? I am able to get Flash as
background in ie7, but not Firefox2 (haven't tried others) using
the wmode/z-index/absolute positioning method. It seems that I've
read in the documentation that Flash is always on top, but things
change, and almost always can be worked around...Has anyone had
success with this for Firefox2? -
