ICal clients not linking to iCal server after server migration to 10.6.1
Over the weekend I upgraded our server from 10.5.8 to 10.6.1. For almost everything the upgrade went flawlessly.
Except none of my iCal clients can connect. I get:
+"The server responded with an error.+
+The connection to the server (server name) was refused."+
Any ideas what might be causing it??
I think we need more information on what troubleshooting steps you've tried. For example, what pertinent messages, if any, are showing in the caldavd logs? Have you tried to telnet to the appropriate port on the server to ensure that it's open? Is there an SSL mismatch between the server and client? If you open iCal on the server itself and try to set up a CalDAV account, does that work?

Mavericks 10.9 iCal client not working on server 10.6.8
On a new client machine with a clean 10.9 Mavericks install it's not possible to create the calendar account on the 10.6.8 server. When adding the account in iCal client I choose 'Add CalDav account', then choose 'Manual' at account type.
After clicking 'Create' I get 'An unknown error occured'
I also tried choosing 'Advanced' and entering the full search path, port number, etc. Also doesn't work.
On a different client, after upgrading from 10.8 to 10.9 Mavericks, the existing calendars on the 10.6.8 server work. I cannot however, add extra server calendars. I then get the same problems as on the clean installed client.
Hoping for help, hoohI can see a difference, but can't think of a workaround.
Clean Mavericks Server - ML or other client, when connecting the client will ask about the security certificate. Accept the cert and the process completes fine.
Mavericks client does not generate that certficate question and hence that's where it is hanging up.
So, if anyone knows how to provoke that cert acceptance, then we have a workaround maybe. -
Wyse Thin client not connecting to Windows 2008 R2 server
Configuration
SBS 2011 Server
Windows 2008 R2 server with Remote Desktop Services installed, License Manager installed.
WYSE WT3125SE thin clients with Windows CE 5
I setup the Windows 2008 with Remote Desktop Services and was able to successfully connect the Thin client. Then I installed the License Manger and applied my Open license using User Cals. Was able to login. Next day I get the following
error-"Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer. Verify that you are logged onto the network and then try connecting again" I still can connect fine from other machines even Windows Home Ed.
I remove license server and still was unable to connect. Built a second Windows 2008 R2 server with RDS on it. Was able to connect without issue. Pointed it to the first RDS server license manager and have still been able to connect with
the Thin Client. The thin client can rdp to the SBS server without issue in admin mode, can connect to RDS2 server but not RDS1 with the license manger. So my issue is with the license and so my question is what is it with the license server
running on that server that is keeping thin client from connecting. I even did a reload of RDS1 and tested connecting throughout the process and it worked up until I applied the license and then it stops. And then if I uninstall the license, rds, remove
from domain still not able to connect. Any help would be appreciated. We had the same problem with older terminals after cloning a 2008R2 rds server and sysprep it.
The original rds server worked fine but when the old terminals connect to the new 1 they come up with the error : Because
of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer. Verify that you are logged onto the network and then try connecting again"
After reading all of the postings about this issue and tried the reactivate solution of the license server,
I was sure that it had something to do with the x509 certificates that are generated the first time you connect to a valid license server.
What I did, I installed a new license server activate it but did not install licenses on it.
I pointed the defective rds server to the newly installed license server and deleted the following registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM
Certificate
X509 Certificate
X509 Certificate ID
X509 Certificate2
Then reboot.
After the reboot all old terminals can connect fine again. As final step I pointed the rds server to the same license server as the other ones,
reboot and all worked fine.
So conclusion is that when you pont a rds server to a license server that has the new type of licenses on it it will generate the wrong x509 certificates
that are not supported by the older clients, by pointing it first to 1 without any rds calls on it, it generates the older x509 certificates which are compatible with the older rdp clients then the switch to new license server will then not regenerate the
x509 certs so it keeps working.
I hope this helps someone
This issue was driving me crazy so very happy that it is resolved now

Website ical feed not importing into ical (but works in other programs)
We have a website that contains timetables, and publish ical (.ics) feeds for users so that they can import their timetables into their own calendar software. We have a few users who are saying that ical will not import our site's ics feed. Either just one event (of many) gets imported or none of them do. We've imported these feeds into google calendar, sunbird & outlook without any problems, and have ran this same user's feed through an ical validation tool and it passes without any errors or warnings.
Where can I find out what iCal is having trouble with? Is there an error log somewhere I can get the users to access? Are there any parts of the ics format that ical is particularly flaky with? How can I find out what's wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
thanksI'm having this problem too... can't figure out what is wrong.
Outlook & Google Calendar can import it
It validates according to:
http://severinghaus.org/projects/icv/
If there is only one event iCal accepts it, but if there are more than one, it gives an error message (a very unhelpful one at that).
There is a link to the iCal file here:

How do Snow Leopard iCal Clients access a Leopard iCal Server?
Could someone please explain how to set up Snow Leopard clients to a Leopard Server. And if it is possible. Thank You.
Greetings, Jamil.
Could someone please explain how to set up Snow Leopard clients to a Leopard Server.
Sure. Pretty straight forward if you are the client (server setup is another matter and would not be addressed in this forum).
Option #1 -- Assuming the clients are to have read /write access to the calendars:
Go to the Help menu in iCal and type in "CalDAV". You will see this as a result: Setting up a CalDAV account in iCal
You can read the article here as well which details how to add a CalDAV account to iCal: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iCal/3.0/en/15563.html
All you need are the CalDAV settings from your 10.6 Server running CalDAV (iCal server). You would get those from whomever setup/manages the 10.6 server.
__Usually consists of a user name / account name and password.
If they don't know how to find those settings they can visit the Mac OS X Server forum: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=96
Option # 2 -- Assuming the clients have read only access (calendar subscription):
Go to the Help menu in iCal and type in "Subscribe". You will see this as a result: Subscribing to calendars
You can read the article here as well which details how to subscribe to a published calendar: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iCal/4.0/en/9869.html
Hope that helps. -
ICal still not showing proper DST information after applying patch.
Hi All,
When will this DST nightmare end? :)
Okay, here is the situation. I have applied the DST patch as documented in Metalink Doc ID 406289.1.
Patch 5862386
Here is an iCal generated by Oracle. I had moved the date on the server upto March 12, 2007 a day after the DST change is supposed to take effect. My development team is telling me that Oracle is supplying an iCal with incorrect timezone data.

Any Suggestions on how to proceed would be great, also if you need clarification on anything I've said here let me know.
Thanks
GregI have access to a planning environment that has been patched with .102 and IE8 is working fine with the colouring of cells.
Did you definitely delete the planning web application tmp directory and cleared all the caches from the browser
Have you tried rolling back the patch to see if it fixes the issue.
Cheers

Not able to access object after server IP address changes
I have an Activatable object that gets registered with the RMIDs registry.
If my servers IP address changes, then when I look up the remote object, I can retrieve it from the registry, but as soon as I make a method call I get an access denied to xx.xx.xx.xx, where xx.xx.xx.xx is the old IP address - and not the new one.
I've tried rebinding the object to the registry after the IP address has changed but with no success.
I've also tried settings -Dnetworkaddress.cache.ttl=0. All my lookups are done by hostname.
Any ideas?
TIA
IanIf the server changes its IP address all stubs which have already been exported become invalid and must be reacquired. For an Activatable this also means that you must re-register the object as an Activatable as well as rebinding it.

Hello there.
I am having a problem with Cisco AnyConnect version 3.1.04072. When one of my colleagues disconnects from the VPN session, closes out the program, and then later on, reopens the client, the address that he manually entered did not save and it's defaulting on the two now-defunct VPN servers listed.
Here's an example to see if it makes more sense:
-User opens Cisco AnyConnect. By default, there are two selections available on the pulldown:
SSLVPN.abcdefg.com
access.abcdefg.ca
These two VPN servers are now defunct and we use a new VPN server:
access.abcdefg.com
The user has to manually type it in. He is now able to connect. However, when disconnected. Regardless if the program is closed or not, it does not save the new VPN server address, rather goes back to the default two VPN servers listed.
I've checked XML, HTML, registry keys, sys files, dll files to see if I can change the default servers manually. No sign of it.
I'm hoping that someone out there knows a solution to fix it.
Thanks in advance!Hi Vergel ,
You can create Anyconnect client profile on ASA. In this profile , you can define the hostname/IP that you wish to connect , along with hostname/IP that should be displayed on the client.
In the client profile , you can define these parameters - "HostName" and "HostAddress" as "access.abcdefg.com" so that any user , who tries to connects , will see "access.abcdefg.com" as the name displayed in the anyconnect connect field.
On the client, the xml profile (C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Profile) [Win 7] can be seen using those parameters as follows:-
<HostEntry>
<HostName>access.abcdefg.com</HostName>
<HostAddress>access.abcdefg.com</HostAddress>
</HostEntry>
Ref:- http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect30/administration/guide/anyconnectadmin30/ac03vpn.html#89103
Additionally, you can try to delete preferences.xml file to remove the redundant hostnames from the anyconnect connect filed.
Path for preferences.xml is C:\Users\Cisco\AppData\Local\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client (Win 7),
Hope this helps.

Dinesh Moudgil

Clients not connecting with AP 1600 after configuration
Hi there!!
I'm configuring a new Aironet 1600. I have to configure two SSIDs: Emplyees (vlan 40) and guests (vlan 45). Authentication for Employees is 802.1x against a RADIUS server and Guest is just WAP2. I'm trying to test the AP with the guest SSID (because I dont have the RADIUS server in my network), but the clients wont connect to the guest SSID. This is my first configuration and I used the web interface, not sure what I'm missing. Can you help?

Yesterday, 3/25/2013, I noticed that email wasn't working from my thunderbird client. After a day of assuming that the problem existed elsewhere, I found on this site where it says to use POP.VERIZON.NET, port 995, and SMTP.VERIZON.NET, port 465. After grumbling why didn't I hear about this name change?, I changed them. At that time I noticed that the PORTS were wrong, too. They'd been right, and now, not. Most confusing. I changed them. Each account has CONNECTION SECURITY SSL/TLS and NORMAL PASSWORD.
But: when I try to connect, I get: An error occurred during a connection to pop.verizon.net:995. You have received an invalid certificate.....Your certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authority. Please get a new certificate...."
I am at a loss. What's wrong, other than that email seems to be choking on security?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Found in another post where a person said the INCOMING.VERIZON.NET and OUTGOING.VERIZON.NET did still work, so I tried it, but still got that Certificate error. Found someone else who said they had to say 'no connection security' before it would work, and so I tried that -- and it did.
Not thrilled about this, but the client is working again. -
Connect to Server after Server Hibernation
I recently built a new server using Windows Home Server software. To save power I put the server to sleep at night - its a family server and not needed at night.
I have a MINI as my media center computer and my Music, Photos etc are stored on the server, so the MINI needs that connection.
When the server wakes up in the morning the MINI does not connect to the server automatically - even manually trying to connect it fails.
If I reboot the MINI then the connections are made automatically - the server drives are mounted via the log in options in user preferences.
My question is how do I get my MINI to automatically connect to the server when the server wakes up each day?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.I have this problem too with my HP Mediasmart EX485 WHS. Finder says connecting but the wheel keeps spinning and it never connects. Again, this looks like an issue with Apple's implementation of SMB.

Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. This will erase your phone. Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your phone is new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup. -
Emails in inbox not visible unless searched for after mailbox migration
Hi,
After migrating a mailbox from exchange 2010 to 2013 everything looked ok upon first logon. The user then deleted 4 emails which prompted all the emails to disappear that were listed in inbox. They are visible if you do a search within inbox. All new mails
do show as normal.
Thanks
ChrisHi Chris,
Agree with Amit's suggestion. Please check if you can see these emails via OWA. If yes, please use Online mode to verify if Outlook works well. If yes, I recommend you create a new profile to solve this issue.
If the issue persists, please use Outlook safe mode to determine whether the problem is caused by add-ins.
Hope it helps.
Best regards,
Amy Wang

Ical client setup with 10.6 server
I have iCal server up and running on my 10.6 server and everything seems to be working right. however I have set the server side up to use ssl and have opened those ports on my firewall which works. My problem is that after setting up a user I send out the welcome email and that has the configure my mac link. Which was done before I change the iCal server settings to use ssl. And now every time I go in and manually set the server settings to use ssl on the client side and quit and reopen ical another account is added without the ssl settings. How do i get it to stop automatically adding an account to iCal?
This looks like a bug in the iCal client. I, too, have had problems with delegated calendars and end users mistaking events for being missing, not updated or incorrect only because their local copy was not synced with the true copy on the server. The refresh rate on delegated calendars can be changed with the "Refresh calendars: [ Every 1 minute ]" preference. You can verify this by right-clicking or control-clicking on the delegated calendar and choosing "Show CalDAV Queue." This brings up a queue of activity with the iCal Server. You'll note at the top that it mentions "Refresh every 1 minute."
The problem, of course, is if you quit iCal and recheck the "Show CalDAV Queue" on the delegated calendar, the refresh interval has reverted to some long interval like 300 or 900 minutes. This is a bug, for sure. For now, you can tell your clients not to quit iCal or to refresh manually or reset the refresh interval whenever they restart iCal/their computer, etc.
