ICal continually alerts me even when an event is passed

About every hour of so I get iCal popping up and alerting me of the same events even when they're passed.
This is in a standard user account if that changes anything. I have repaired permissions too.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem, Alerts disappear after my invitation is accepted.
MacOS 10.7.4 with all software up to date.

The received emails should show in two locations:
1. In the All Inboxes tab of Mail.
2. The Inbox for each mail account,
If your emails are not showing in these locations try quitting the mail app and then reset your iPhone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal.
To reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

How to continue scheduled sync even when application in sleep mode

Hi All,
How can we make sure our application will continue to be active even in sleep mode?
I am assigned a feature for our iOS Mobile application that can periodically update user's current geolocation onto remote database.
It works fine when the mobile devices are in activate mode. The timer expire event fired -> grab newest geolocation -> send to database.
However, it did not work at all when devices went into sleep mode. Depending on when/where the devices went to sleep, the code stopped at different points. Like, The timer expire event never fired. The synch with database stops in the middle. The sniffer gps events never return. etc.
I tried to use NativeApplication.nativeApplication.executeInBackground = true as mentioned in (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4386837). However, my flashbuilder compliented can not find this executeInBackground property. (my flash builder is 4.6, air application is 3.1). I tried with -swf-version=16 and with air application set as 3.3 and did not help.
First question: will executeInBackground be the right solution for solving my problem? From document, it sounds like the continue executation is not garanteed.
Second question: For executeInBackground issue, How can I pass the runtime error.
Third question: Is there any better way to implement this type of activities?

If you want to let it sleep, and you are connected via ethernet, you could use WakeOnLan. If you want to print and the server is sleeping, you can wake it up over ethernet.

ICal adding alert for 35791394 minutes after events

Since I've upgraded to Mountain Lion, I'm now getting random Alerts set for 35791394 minutes after the event (between one to three alerts with the same number of minutes for each event). I'm syncing with iCloud to an iPhone 4S and iPad (3), both with most recent iOS. All calendars are set to default with None for Alerts (on all devices).

I've been following this - and have just been holding off contacting Apple, since it seems there's no fix yet from what some of you have gone through - But I've done a few tests tonight and can replicate the alert - here's what I found - maybe this can shed some light on the bug for some Apple tech:
Make event in Calendar - no alert
Open it on iPhone - shows alert at time of event
Edit it on iPhone - now in Calendar it shows Alert - Message 35791394 minutes after.
Edit on Calendar to set Alert to NONE,
iPhone still shows Alert at Time of Event
Edit iPhone to remove Alert to NONE
Calendar still shows NONE (as before)
Edit iPhone timing of event, still alert None
Calendar still shows NONE
---------NEXT-------
Make event in Calendar - no alert
iPhone shows Alert at Time of Event
Remove alert, set to None AND edit time of event on iPhone
Calendar still shows no alert.
-----So it seems to me that an event created first on Calendar with no alert - shows up on iPhone with Alert at Time of Event - then if you edit it on iPhone - it goes back to Calendar with the Alert -Message 35791394 minutes after.
But... if you FIRST remove the Alert on the iPhone before editing the time of event - it doesn't create an alert back in Calendar.

Will my Season Pass (for TV show) continue to download even when I travel to another country?

In a few weeks, I'll be traveling and living in China for a year.... Of course this means I'll be missing the excellent Fall lineup of TV shows, but iTunes would theoretically help me with that.
So my question is that if I download the season passes for let's say "Scandal" and "Agents of Shield," would I be able to continue downloading them off the cloud while in China? Or would I have to wait until I get back in the US? I'm not sure how the cloud works in China specifically, so any help would be much appreciated.

Continuing alerts for iCal Events after canceling

Hello everyone,
I suspect what I'm about to describe is a bug, but hopefully I'm wrong and there is a setting for this. For any iCal Events I have, which are typically listed as all day events, I get continual reminder notifications even after CANCELLING. Anyone seeing this? Is there a way to stop it or do you think this is a bug.
FYI, I do have calendar turned on for iCloud, but not reminders. This happens on both my Macbook Pro and my iMac.

OK...I've found the culprit and an easy workaround. First, Desktop Manager for Mac is the problem. If you set any event alert reminders in iCal to "Message and Sound" you'll get both the message and the sound on your Mac, but Desktop Manager for Mac mangles this somehow when the event is synched to the BB. The event makes it over, but when the event is selected on the BB and opened, the alert is set to "None".
To fix this, simply change all event alert reminders in iCal to "Message" (without the sound) and re-sync using Desktop Manager now the events on your BB have the same alert parameters as in iCal and their alerts now popup when scheduled and they have an audible sound.
Come on, RIM...Mac users deserve better than this. It took you 12 years to get us a real (well almost real) Desktop Manager, so now give it the same features as you provide in the Windows Desktop Manager. But since I know nothing in this forum ever makes it to RIM...we'll have to hope they figure this out on their own.

If the same website is opening each time you launch a browser (Safari?) hold down the shift key as you launch to prevent previous pages from opening.
Have a look at your settings in Safari > Preferences. Especially General and Privacy.
Reset Safari to remove cookies and other stored data.

ICal invites when calender event is changed in Outlook?

How do I stop iCal / MobileMe sending out invites when I change a calender event in Outlook?

Hi, any thoughts here? I tried replacing the system timezone file for IST with a vanilla +0530 GMT offset one (in /var/share/zoneinfo) but that didn't work (even after a reboot). Does Mail (and other such applications) not use the system timezone definition files?

Continuous "36888 Schannel Errors" in System Event Log when NOT connected to Internet

We are hoping someone will be able to assist with us this very strange issue please ?
We are using Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise with Office 2013 and the latest Symantec Endpoint Proctecion v12.1.5 installed. They are managed using SCCM2012 in a large AD domain environment
When our workstations are NOT connected to the internet (only local intranet) the following errors appear in SYSTEM event log almost continuously (several times a minute).
Event ID:36888 User: SYSTEM OpCode:Info Level:Error Source:SChannel
"A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 70. The Windows Schannel error state is 11."
The process associated with these events is "Local Security Authority Process"
When an internet connection is enabled for these machines these 36888 errors will suddenly stop !.
An event "Error 36887 "A fatal alert was received from the remote endpoint. The TLS protocol defined fatal alert code is 40." Is also occurring on these machines but only occasionally.
As a result, We suspect there must be a process continuously attempting to connect to an internet service and failing ?.
Some of the things we have tried so far;
- We have disabled all non-essential services (e.g. Windows Store Service) one by one but this didn't fix.
- We have tried disabling Tile updates on Start
- We have tried a bunch of different Group Policy settings to disable different combinations of TLS/SSL in IE config.
- We have searched the internet forums and tried some suggested fixes but this combination of error state and error code seems unique ?.
It doesn't happen on our Windows 7 x64 workstations that have much same apps & configuration.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated !

This Event ID 36888 occurs if a user tries to access a web site using HTTP but specifies an SSL port in the URL.
We can try clean boot to troubleshoot whether this issue is caused by a third party program .

If there is no sensible impacts on operating the machines ,we can try to disable this log by modify the following registry key value to 0.

Sometimes I can't get out of Day view in iCal. There is no where on the screen to select month view, even when I close it out and go back into iCal.

Sometimes I am locked in "day" view in iCal. There is no where on the screen to choose "month" view, even when I close it out and open again. Tapping anywhere on the screen or scrolling doesn't help.

Give this a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try full screen again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

How can I stop getting emails when adding events to iCal (Mac) or Calendar (iOS)?

This question could just as well go to the iCloud on my Mac community...
I put 'I' in the topic for brevity but it's actually my wife who gets emails every time either of us adds or edits events, whether we do it in iCal on either of our Macs or in Calendar on our iOS devices. Presumably this is to do with a setting in iCloud somewhere, but I've searched high and low and can’t find it. I've also compared settings on our Macs and phones and can't find anything that could be the culprit. It's driving her nuts!

this seems to be a new "bug" on iCloud. It's happened to many users (judging by the posts here). My wife and I have one shared calendar and we've been happily using it without the email problems (because I had set iCloud NOT to email us whenever an event changed - this was done at icloud.com, a setting there). Recently we began getting emails. I suspect a change in iCloud that was in error, because I just checked my setting and the option to have an email sent when an event changes is not checked.

When adding event in iCal, the event becomes full-day by default. How to change?

Also, when de-clicking full-day the events becomes timed 10am-6pm. When changing start time, the end time follows with this 6 hr gap. Not the worst problem to deal with in this world, but...still. Any way of changing this little detail? I.e. to be able to double click the desired day, getting an event that starts with the current time and a 1 hr gap (as with the old version of iCal, that is).

My 4s continues to lose wi-fi and reverts to 3G even when the phone is 4 ft from the router.

My 4s continues to lose wi-fi and reverts to 3G even when the phone is 4 ft from the router. Is this a defect in my phone? It happens when I am home and I switch to my wi-fi. It doesn't matter where the phone is in relation to the router. Please note, I have my phone set to NOT sleep. Does any one know why my phone reverts to 3G? I have to manually set it to wi-fi every time this happens.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 4s. It was not an issue when I was using iOS5, but it started once I upgraded to iOS6 and the recent update of iOS6.0.1 did not fix it. Judging from the release notes, Apple thinks this is only an iPhone 5 issue, as they say they fixed it for iPhone 5's.
I have an iPad 2 (iOS6.0.1) and a 3rd generation iPod touch (latest iOS5 release), as well as an Apple TV 2. None of the other devices have this problem and they are all on the same network.
Something interesting... my iPhone 4s works fine on the wifi where I work. At home, it continually turns on and off. My home network is using a Netgear router (WNDR3400) and the iPhone is connecting to it using WPA2+PSK protocol. Hopefully, this information can help Apple figure out the problem.
(I remember my iPod Touch having a similar issue a few years ago with iOS 4, when I had a different Netgear router using the same security protocol. I think iOS 5 fixed it for the iPod Touch... I wonder if some Apple products have an issue with Netgear Routers using that encryption.)

Continue execution of workflow even when it errors

So I have a bunch of steps that I would like to continue executing even if one of fails.I have provided the option -ErrorAction Continue but it still fails.Looks like this is only for a non-terminating error. Hello, There are two types of Error. Terminating and non-terminating.A terminating error is an error that will halt a function or operation. If you make a syntax error or run out of memory, that is a terminating error. Terminating errors can be caught and handled.Non-terminating errors allow Powershell to continue and usually come from cmdlets or other managed situations.
