ICal crashes when editing one instance of recurring event

Maybe it is just my imagination, but this started just as MobileMe was released.
If I edit or delete one instance of a recurring event, iCal crashes about 90% of the time. I'm not sure why it does work in a very few cases. Usually it will show as "Not responding" in my activity monitor and start using all memory. When I force quit, the log files include the following:
Command: iCal
Path: /Applications/iCal.app/Contents/MacOS/iCal
Version: 3.0.4 (1263)
Build Version: 3
Project Name: iCal
Source Version: 12630000
Parent: launchd [458]
Any tips? My iCal is nearly unusable as most of my events are recurring, and editing events is a necessary tool. Let me know if I should post more of the error log.

I didn't have this problem in Leopard. It started happening when I upgraded to Snow Leopard.

  • ICal crashes when I try to edit events

I cannot edit events in iCal. When I double click on the event iCal crashes instantly. I have to edit my events with my iPhone or iPad.
How can I solve the problem?  Brand new iMac with Mountain Lion...A bug I suppose?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

While 2 GB is the absolute minimum to install Mavericks, if you want to do anything with the Mac you need more then that. Upgrade your RAM.
Until you upgrade the RAM seriously consider shutting down the Mac nightly. You should also seriously review the items in the User Login Items to see if there are any there that you really don't need to have startup with your login to reduce the amount of RAM you are using.

  • PS CC crashes when editing panoramas or HDR made in LR CC from pictures taken by iPhone 5c.

PS CC 2014 crashes when editing panoramas or HDR made in LR CC from pictures taken by iPhone 5c. It is consistent. I have tried several different settings but does not get this to work. Seems like the import from LR to PS is not working as good as it did with LR 5 and CC2014. Anyone else seen anything like this? / Ola

    Hi again,
I have deinstalled all versions of PS and reinstalled CC 2014. Updated the Graphic driver to the latest version. The system configuration is given below, processor etc. After reinstallation I have tried several combinations of import from LR to PS. It does not matter if it is a dng or a NEF raw file PS keeps crashing when I try to edit the imported file. See attached screen dump. Stressful… I have now tried everything I can think of and nothing has improved the situation so far. / Thanks Ola

  • Iphoto crashes when editing scans

    Hi,
I have scanned some old family photos and I am now trying to edit them (they are jpeg files). I've read many of the posts here and have followed every advice (newest iphoto version, rebuilt library, etc.....) Then I built the new library with a few of the scans imported and a few "regular" photos.  Iphoto still crashes when trying to edit scans, but seems to be doing ok when editing the "regular" photos. Any advice?

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos or each, both the b/w and color scans and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?  It you don't crash when editing in the test library then your current library is damaged.
If that's the case apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Frequent crashes when editing master pages in FM 11

I've been creating new templates in FM 11.0.1.382, and am getting a lot of crashes when editing master pages. Like after every few edits, FM crashes either when I make an edit or save the file. Usually, it's the "FrameMaker 11 has stopped working" crash. Browsing the web I see that others are having this trouble too, and some have sent Adobe information about their crashes.
Just wondering if there's any way to fix this at my end. I'm on Windows 7.
    Thanks,
    Tami

A couple things to check. First, your patches aren't up to date -- current
rev is .384 I think, so you may want to roll that latest patch on board.
And second, it's possible there's a network permissions issue. I'd suggest
copying the template files locally and making sure that you own the files
    with full permissions.
FM often crashes when it encounters an unusual network or permissions
problem where it doesn't know what to do, and from the symptoms you're
reporting, I think that may be a factor -- just a WAG.
    Cheers,

IPad mini crashes when editing mail  happens when trying to delete multiple emails. Any suggestions。

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • Crashes when editing alarm on repeated items imported from Palm

I bought an iPhone, exported my Palm calendar, successfully imported it to iCal, synced to phone, all was well.
If I try to change the alarm setting (how far in advance to warn me) on an imported item that repeats (every week for instance), when I click "apply to future events" iCal crashes immediately.
No recent changes or apps. Any ideas?

I am having a similar problem. I used iCal 2 with my Palm Treo but stopped syncing because of Palm's inability to produce good software that syncs with Mac (oh well). I got an iPhone about a month ago, and recently updated to Leopard. One particular item in my calendar has 3 alarms when I set only one. I have not synced my Palm since I bought the iPhone, but I believe iCal and iSync (along with Missing Sync) are trying to resolve all of the conflicts and are messing up iCal. I uninstalled Missing Sync, so I'll reply back to see if the problem goes away. iCal still crashes when trying to edit the alarms with this event however. Fix coming for this...or is this an isolated incident?

  • Acrobat 9.3.4 crashes when editing bookmarks

Working in Acrobat Pro 9.3.4 on a Mac, system 10.6.4. Have been combining pdf files using the "Combine Files" feature in Acrobat. I need to edit bookmarks (assign & remove), as well as crop and delete some pages in the files I'm working on. The program continually crashes when I delete bookmarks, and occasionally when I add them. I have to try up to 4 or 5 times before I can successfully delete the bookmarks I need to and move on. It will eventually work, but takes a lot more effort than it should. I'm not sure if I should toss some preferences, or even which ones to toss, or if there are any other helpful options out there for me. Thoughts?

Mine is doing the same.  Ever since the 9.3.4 update my Mac Adobe Acrobat Pro will crash (beachball) whenever editing, such as adding bookmarks, or scrolling down the pages of file.  Have tried multiple times to contact Adobe, but with no luck, and no call back or response.  Considering moving to a different PDF platform if I cannot obtain technical help through Adobe.

  • ICal Crashes when clicking "calendar" button to show available calendars

After doing the Lion upgrade I've troupbe with iCal. iCal just opens fine - but when trying to access "calendar" button it shows no reaction at all. In some cases a popout callout appears which is empty (and does not show one single calendar out of my existing 10). If I repeat clicking the button iCal crashes.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

BusyCal is not at the root cause - it has s.th to do with the user account. As described in an other post you can fix it by deleting the prefs of iCal:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15709996#15709996
When it comes to BusyCal there is only one thing with Lion that might be unexpected. Lion fires off iCal each time iCal receives a Push from Mobile Me. In practice you may add an event to BusyCal and iCal will be started immediately. Same for notification. The only way to get rid of this is to change iCal update interval from push to s.th. different. Unfortunately Apple limited Mobile Me Push to iCal only. Other Apps have no access to..

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when editing audio- any solutions?

Adobe Premiere Pro CC crashes nearly every time I try to edit audio, keyframe it in certain spots, etc, etc, with the error message that there has been an "unexpected problem" and the program must "force quit." Sometimes my work is saved, sometimes it isn't. And then I have to re-name my saved file, so I often end up with upwards of 15 different project files because I cannot edit audio without this program crashing. I see I'm not the only one--what is Adobe doing to fix this bug-riddled program? It's impossible to get anything done!
I'm using this program on a MAC, 6-Core Intel Xeon Processor. MAC OS X Lion 10.7.5.
I'm ready to lose my mind.

I am having a very similar experience.....I have been working in Adobe Premiere Pro for well over 8 years and have always had issues with crashes when working with audio files, keyframing, transition placement, trimming and so on. I have had nightmares with some projects that I am having crashes every change I do and it seems once you get an issue with a project it only gets worst. I have worked on a number of different systems in regards to hardware and get the same issues, OS has been Windows 7 64bit for number of years. I would have expected Adobe to have been able to smooth this out by now but it just keeps rearing its ugly head when I`m on a deadline crunch.
I try to never work with Mp3s and always request wav but it doesn't seem to matter in the long run.
Just wanted to let you know you are not the only one and I am having a serous issue with this problem once again!
Please help Adobe....audio is an issue with Premiere Pro for a lot of us....thanks!
