ICal creates new untitled calendars

I came yesterday and found about twenty new calendars in the left hand column. Tried to delete them but they come back again. Trashed the 3 preference files in the Preferences area. No change. Trashed all of the files and folders under Application support. They're still there. And the files all show up again in the sources folder. I have saved my calendars that I want to keep, and if this were a program that I could just re-install I would. I'm updated to the 10.4.10. Any suggestions?

Have you tried to reset your sync history? To do this:
Make a backup of your ical calendars (in iCal go to File> Backup Database...).
In iSync, open its preferences and click 'Reset Sync History'. Read the warning and continue.
When it is done, go to iCal again and delete the extra calendars.

ICal creating phantom 'Untitled' Calendars

Hello,
Every time I start iCal after it has been up for a second or two, it creates a bunch of "Untitled" calendars. It creates them in pairs. If I delete them, after a few seconds 2 more appear. Ical seems to think they are subscription calendars, they have a refresh arrow next to them. If I try to add an event to one it warns me that they are "read-only" calendars.
I've tried deleting preferences and ical directories in Library/ApplicationSupport
but I must have missed something key because my "Home" calendar is still there (with events) after deleting preferences files.
Any help getting rid of these phantom calendars would be appreciated.

I, too, am the vistim of phantom calendars, currently 96. And they create "conflicts" that want to be resolved with my .Mac account. What is better: phantom blue on iCal or phantom pink on .Mac?
Resetting iSync has had NO impact.
All of this follows my iCal completely disappearing upon launch the other day. I was able to restore not from .Mac but from my Palm.
Meanwhile, the phantoms seem to propagate every time I launch CIal.Am about ready to cross to the "dark side" and use Entourage.

Mysterious appearance of new untitled calendars

In the past week I've had three new, empty calendars appear in the calendars menu of iCal. The pattern seems to be a new one appears the for 3 days or so it appears and disappears like a Christmas tree light then remains present after that. I've tried to delete these rogue calendars but the always come back. If the just sat there and were just clutter, I would bother with them. But when the flashing one does appear, anything you enter in that few moments is recorded on that calendar but then disappears after a few cycles of the flashing. I'm wondering if it's a sync'ing problem but have no evidence of such blame.
Hope someone has a clue on this!

the one untitled calender after syncing is ok. it contains some no-value-information. at least, it remains one. my problem is, that after restarting iCal it creates dozens of totally empty calenders which do not carry even the name "untitled".
erasing the preference-files did not help. deactivating all other programs linked to iCal did not help. 2 clean reinstalls did not help. it must be a real bug which appears in certain circumstances (for on my G5 no problem).

Error while trying to create new calendar to sync with google calendar

Hello everybody!
I successfully syncronized my google calendar account with my iCal and everything works fine when I create or delete events.
But when I try to create from iCal a new shared calendar it says "Calendar https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user/ was not found on the server."
Anyone has any idea about how to solve that?

ICal creates blank calendars and then quits

I was publishing my calendars and synching Ical to my .Mac account. Now, Ical keep creating new blank calendars and then quitting! Help!

Try this:
Locate the folder ~/Library/Application Support/iCal and drag it to your desktop
In the folder ~/Library/Prefeences/ delete any files (2-4) that start com.apple.iCal and end .plist
(~ represents your home directory)
Start iCal. Let me know what happens. I expect it will start with two blank calendars, no syncing and no publishing, but there are other possibilities. If we get that far we can then try restoring your original calendars.

I tried to create a new google calendar in ical, but they did not show up, I tried this several times. Now when I sync my iPad via iTunes all these failed attempts are showing up under the ical sync list in iTunes, how can i clear them from this list?

Creating new event in iCal from BBEdit data window. Calendar number fails.

When I try to create a new event in iCal I am getting the error "The variable theCalendarNumber is not defined." even though theCalendarNumber is supposed to be set in the preceding line. Does this have anything to do with embedding the tell application "iCal" within the tell application "BBEdit 6.5" loop?
Before this error I was getting a NSContainerSpecifierError error. I think that was because I was trying to specify the calendar as a string instead of a number as required by Panther OS.

You have a couple of issues here.
First, the line:
set theCalendarNumber to (first calendar whose title is theChoice)
However, theChoice is defined at:
set theChoice to (choose from list iCalendars with prompt "Choose the Calendar to use" OK button name "Choose" without multiple selections allowed and empty selection allowed)
Since you're allowing multiple selections, theChoice will be a list.
You can't get 'first calendar whose title is' a list. You will need to either permit single selections only, or extract the calendar name from the selected items (maybe iterating through them if you want to add the event to multiple calendars).
Once you address that, the line:
set theEvent to make new event at end of events of theCalendarNumber...
also won't work because theCalendarNumber will be the name of a calendar, so this command tries to set the event to the end of events of a string. Instead you need to ask for the named calendar, like:
set theEvent to make new event at end of events of calendar theCalendarNumber
Then you should be set.

IMail To Do's creates new iCal Calendars, HELP please.

I have 2 IMAP email accounts that I use in Mail. Personal and Work. I have two Calendars that I use in iCal. Personal and Work. In Mail when I click To Do it automatically places the new To Do in my Work (junkie) To Do list and creates a new Calendar in iCal, which is fine BUT, this new calendar will not let me create new events (image below, new event is grey'd out) - ONLY new To Do's. When I create To Do's in iCal and select the correct Calendar they placed correctly in Mail. Note: that it does not matter which email account I am currently in it always places the To Do in Work (junkie) Here are my questions:
1. How do I set On My Mac as my default location for To Do's so it works perfectly with iCal?
or
2. How do I set iCal to allow me to create new events in the Calendars Mail automatically sets up.

For got to post this image as well. This is the error I receive when attempting to create an event with in the Calendar that Mail automatically sets up:

I've lost my iCal calendars and can't create new ones

I've used iCal flawlessly for a long time. Suddenly, though, I noticed that I lost all my indivdual calendars in iCal. I couldn't see any calendar postings in the main calendar until I trashed my pref file from the library and relaunched. Then I would see the individual events created under my "home" calendar, yet I would not see the "home" calendar listed as an option in the left-hand view of calendars. Plus, I now can't create new calendars.
Anybody have any idea what's going on here?

Is this correct: you had multiple calendars; they disappeared from the calendar pane and their events from the main pane; you deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ical.plist; you now have a single calendar (Home) but cannot make more; you can see the events in Home?
Can you add events to Home?
Can you see as many folders in ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/Sources/ as you used to have calendars?
Double-click ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/nodes.plist. Click the black triangle beside the word Root. In the line "List Array ..." how many ordered objects are reported? Does this match your original calendar count?
What have you added/changed/modified recently? Might it have involved any fonts?

Can I create a shared calendar on iCal from the New iPad?

My company just gave out iPads for use to all field employees. My coworkers and I currently have an Outlook shared calendar that we utilize for scheduling our work. We can not access the shared calendars on our iPads, therefore I would like to create a shared calendar in iCal that we can all access for sharing our schedule as we were doing on Outlook. Is this possible?
NOTE: The idea is that I would like to use the iPad as the sole resource, instead of carrying our laptops around just to access the shared outlook calendar/schedule. The laptops are outdated junk that requires roughly 20 mins of time just to power up, connect and sign in to our servers...very inefficient.

I create a birthday calendar in iCal and then click on it in iphoto at the begining of the calendar project each year. Some how the birthday did not populate the photo calendar. Is there a way to add the birthday iCal calendar into the calendar project?

If you first select the calendar on the left, so that its background is highlighted blue/grey, when you make a new events they should be added to that calendar.

In mail "create new ical event" has stopped appearing in ical

Please help! I love clicking on data in email to bring up the "Create New iCal Event" box, and using it to put new events into my ical calendar. But recently when I "Create New iCal Event" from an email, and click "add to iCal" the window closes but the event doesn't show up in iCal. I can still add events by clicking on a calendar date in iCal and typing them in, but the link between Mail and iCal seems to be broken. How can I fix it?
Could this be related to how Firefox recently broke? Foxfire will not save bookmarks any more, either, I click on "Bookmarks," then "Bookmark this page". The window closes but the bookmark does not save. Also, the forward/backward browser arrows no longer work on Foxfire.

Unable to create new events in iCal

I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS7, and now when I try to create a new event in iCal, nothing happens. I am able to tap the "+" and enter the event information, but when I tap "Done", no new event appears in the calendar.
If I, instead, create the event in the Calendar on my PC, the phone syncs with Outlook, and the event appears on the phone's iCal app.
Why am I suddenly unable to create new events on my phone in iOS7, and how can I fix this issue?

Thanks! I've noticed the phone has been a bit "clunky" since the update too. Did you experience the same thing & did the hard restart help?

Existing iCal calenders syncing with new Google Calendar/iCal account

I have been using iCal now for awhile but only recently started using Google Calendars (once I found out they could both be synced together). Anyway, I understand how to set up the sync, it's very simple. But, I have three calendars for personal, school, and work already in iCal that are in the default group profile that iCal starts with of "calendars".
Anyway, when you create a new account in iCal to set up the syncing, it creates a whole new calendar group for your profile. I had never had an "account" before, so all my three main calendars are separate from this new account. Is there anyway to move or duplicate those calendars into my new calendar group so that I can have one flowing set of synced information between google and iCal without manually retyping all of the information myself? I have tried dragging the calendars down into the other group and all you can do is reorder them within the group they're already in. Even a duplication would work, if that is possible (to duplicate a whole calendar).
Any insight from anyone would be incredibly helpful.

Why does icloud create its own calendars in outlook? i would like it to simply sync with my existing outlook calendar so i only have one. now, i have three--one outlook, and two ical calendars.

i had the same problem with MobileMe. iCloud creates new calendars in outlook that match the calendars i have on ical on my home mac computer.
