ICal date in Dock

Just got my new Imac with iCal included, can someone tell me, is it possible to have iCal show the correct date in the dock? It seems to constantly have its icon of 17th July? I've tried scouring the discussion forums, but everyone seems more knowledgable than me!
Thanks

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You might want to consider adding the $ 18.95 program MenuCalendarClock version 2.1.1 [the iCal Edition] which places an accurate calendar icon in your menu bar, and provides much of the functionality of iCal [read-only calendar and task data and launch related functions] without having to open the program itself.

  • Ical date in dock no longer updating

Ever since aug 1st the ical icon in dock isn't showing the current date. Its nothing major but it was the cool part about the new version in leopard. how can I fix this? I've looked for something in preferences but I don't see anything. What can I do?

It's a long shot, but have you tried removing the iCal icon from the Dock and then re-creating it by dragging the iCal application from your Applications folder back onto the Dock?

  • ICal date in dock stuck on 31

Since the new year my iCal date in the dock is always stuck on 31. It does change to the correct date when I launch iCal, but as soon as I quit it goes back to 31. I deleted the ical pref's but it still is broken.

trash the ical icon on the dock, go to your applications folder, select ical and drag a fresh icon to the dock.
    hope this helps

  • ICal date in application icon in dock is broken

The iCal date that gets updated in the iCal application icon that sits in the dock is not working properly for me. The date is never aligned correctly. The black number is always positioned too high vertically and overlaps the red month area. I've checked iCal on other friend's machines (same OS, Leopard) and theirs display perfectly. Any idea why mine is out of whack? Please see screenshot below.
The same thing is happening to the calendar widget on my dashboard too, so it appears as though it's some system wide bug/issue.

    evolution75,
How on earth did you figure that out?!
I am a regular visitor to this Forum, and the problem you described is not rare.
How do I now go about removing duplicates?
    Just two simple steps:
    1. In Font Book, select the version of the font family that you want to use.
    2. Choose Edit > Resolve Duplicates.

You might have to join to get to the files area. I'll approve you as soon as you apply. Don't worry, the group doesn't get all that much traffic. If you don't want to join, I'll see if I can pull the file out and send it to you.

look for the advanced objects file, it's got some goodies in it.

  • How do I retrieve iCal data from my Time Capsule.

Aloha:  For unknown reasons I lost all my iCal data.  I went back in time (pretty neat!) and brought back an old version of iCal that did have the data.
However, now I am unable to use this old vrsion with my present operating system!
How can I retrive my old data and get it on my new version of iCal?
    Thanks

How do I retrieve a file from my backup in Time Capsule?
It depends on the type of file that you are trying to retreive.
    In general.....
Open Time Machine by clicking on the clock icon on the dock
Wait a few minutes for Time Machine to fully load
Use the timeline at the far right of the window to go back in time to a date when the file was still on your Mac
    Click that date
Navigate using the Finder interface to locate the file that you want
Click on the file to highlight it
Click Restore at the lower right of the window to be brought back to the present
You have to retrieve other types of files differently. For details, see:

  • View my iCal data from Outlook

I'm currently using iCal to manage my schedule. It syncs automatically to MobileMe, Google Apps, and Plaxo, and it all gets pushed to my iPhone via MobileMe. I also have a few ics subscriptions within iCal, but for the purposes of what I'm about to ask, I don't care about them. It's my OWN calendar data that I care about.
I need to access it from within Outlook 2007 on a government-issued computer. Because it's government-issued, it's a fixed image and no one can install software or plugins locally. So with what I have (Outlook only), I need to figure out how to be able to view my iCal data.
I know Outlook 2007 supports subscriptions, but for the life of me, I can't find anywhere within me.com, or iCal, any reference to what URL I would need to use to have Outlook access my calendar.
    Any guidance?
    Dan

    Hi dantrimble.

I try with sundird but icann't.
    any idea ?
    Thanks.

  • Can I restore a single calendar archive to iCal without replacing my current ical data in other calendars?

I archived an iCal calendar.  When I went to import it back into iCal, a message says "The iCal backup “abcd.icbu” will replace your current iCal data. You can’t undo this action."  Will it replace ALL my current iCal data, or just any data in a calendar labeled "abcd"?

    imci,
As the warning says: "...will replace your current iCal data." All of your current data will be overwritten with the .icbu file.
I presume that you do not want to do that.
One method of accomplishing the integration without losing current data, is to use iCal>File>Export>Export... for each one of your current calendars. That method will create .ics files for the individual calendars. After creating those .ics files and saving them to a suitable location, you can then use the .icbu file to restore from the archive.
After the archive restoration is complete, you can go to the saved location and double click on the .ics files. You will be offered a choice to create a new calendar, or integrate into an existing calendar. Use the choice appropriate for your situation.

  • Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Your only bet is to resotre from the Time Machine backup. However when you do this the sync process will promptly delete the calendars again, so you need to work through the slightly convoluted method detailed in this page:

  • Trying to copy Tiger's iCal data to a clean install of Leopard...

I have just clean-installed Leopard onto my MacBook, after having done a complete backup of my entire hard drive. I have not used Apple's own Backup software, but rather a 3rd-party backup application, which effectively has just cloned my Tiger drive onto an external hard-drive.
The problem I am having is that I am trying to migrate my Tiger calendars to Leopard's iCal, manually copying across all data, but I cannot figure out which data to copy across to make it work.
Leopard's iCal folders don't seem to match up with Tiger's iCal folders, so I can't just write over like-for-like.
I tried deleting the *User > Library > Calenders* folder from the MacBook, but there was no Calendars folder in the same location on the external drive's backup. All the iCal data seemed to be stored in a *User > Library > Application Support > iCal* folder.
I also copied this folder from the backup to my MacBook (even though there wasn't an iCal folder there on the MacBook) and when I re-launched iCal I got a message saying *"Upgrading iCal calendars"* and a progress bar, but then a second or so later, I get an error message saying *"Failed to migrate iCal calendars"*.
I guess there's more I need to be looking out for...
Does anyone know how to do this?

Did you read my post, and the article you pointed me to?
The solution in the article you pointed me to relies on having used Apple's own "Backup" software, and in my original post above, I clearly stated:
*I have not used Apple's own Backup software, but rather a 3rd-party backup application, which effectively has just cloned my Tiger drive onto an external hard-drive.*

  • Lost my iCal data and bookmarks with a Time Machine migration

I needed to reinstall my OS (due to a partitioning issue). i didn't have room on my re-partitioned hard drive to restore everything, but I did restore my apps. No when I open foxfire I don't have any bookmarks, and iCal doesn't have any of my calendar data. Is that data stored somewhere else on the time machine back-up? Or did I loose it because I didn't export my bookmarks and back-up my iCal data before I reinstalled?
    Thanks,
    Nancy

none of user data for any applications is ever stored in the applications themselves. it's always stored inside user's home directory. that's what you should have restored, not the applications. specifically, ical data is stored in /users/username/library/calendars and firefox data in /users/username/library/application support/firefox. see this link for more info

  • How do you transfer ical data and address book from a mac back up to an ipad?

    I have a HD back-up from my mom's dead imac g5.
I am sending her an iPad, and would LOVE to have here Address Book and iCal data so she has that all set up.

If you want to transfer a large amount of files, the best way would be to use an external drive. If you do not have one, consider the option of using Target Disk mode, so you just have to get a Thunderbolt cable; this is the fastest option.
To use Target Disk mode, connect the Thunderbolt to the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. Then, start up your MacBook Pro and hold the T key while it is starting up until you see the Thunderbolt icon in the display. Now, go to the MacBook Air, open a Finder window and you will see the MacBook Pro hard drive in the sidebar, so access to them and transfer the files you want to.

  • Is there a way to import iCal data into a numbers spreadsheet?

Is there a way to import iCal data into a numbers spreadsheet?

If you want to import lots of calendar events into Numbers, the general way to proceed would be to:
export in CSV (character-separated values) from iCal (Calendar)
    import the CSV into Numbers.
    1. can be accomplished via AppleScript (perhaps in an Automator workflow) or, perhaps more convenient, a dedicated exporter app such as Export Calendars Pro or competitors.
    2. Importing into Numbers is usually as easy as File > Open and choose the CSV file.

  • Ical data from Previous System

I recently had to 'Install and Archive' my G4 10.2.8, in doing so it archived most of my data in the new folder 'Previous System'. I now open my Ical and can't seem to get any of my previous data. Does anyone know where the past Ical data is stored once the system has been archived, and where should I put it once I have found it.
Thanks for any help you can give.

There should be no need to sync the files. A previous system folder happens when you do an archive and install, so what's in that folder is identical to what your Mac was when you last did one. Presumably you've changed a lot of things since then and wouldn't want to go back.
Unless there are a few files you deleted and want back, then just copy them over. Then delete the entire thing, it's using up disk space.

  • My ical data has disappeared

My ical data has disappeared on both my iPhone 5 and my desktop.  I have never used Time Machine and when I go there all it does is ask me to set it up.  Anyone help restore iCal data to previous settings?

Thank you.  You may have been right about the server glitch.  After hours, literally, on the phone with Support trying to load the calendar from my phone, and finally giving up, my calendar on the website was magically restored 24 hours later.
I'm guessing I'm not the only one this happened to, and that they restored to an earlier version for me and whomever else's data was lost.  Pretty scary, actually -- and annoying!
    Thanks again for your help.
