ICal defaults to print ALL calendars-help!

I just went to print my first calendar from iCal after upgrading to 10.5.6 from Tiger. Instead of iCal defaulting to the calendar I was working in, it defaults to print all calendars at once. I have to uncheck every calendar except the one I want to print. "Help" explains that the default should be the calendar I selected and was working on. Any suggestions?

ltrager58,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It appears to me that "Help" is incorrect. The calendar selection for printing is ultimately made in the "Print" window using the "Calendars" pane.
I suggest that you provide iCal Feedback.

  • How do I force the print dialog to default to Print All?

    Hi all,
I've searched the forums for this and found several similar requests but no answers so I am posting this as a fresh post.
I have a requirement to have the print dialog appear when printing from javascript and have it always default to Print All.  From my research, it appears that there are only two API methods to do this:
    1) Print()
    2) PrintWithDialog()
Neither take paramters.  Both have the same description in the documentation (which seems odd in of itself).
From our research, PrintWithDialog() appears immediately when called (even if the PDF is not yet fully loaded) but always defaults to, "Print 1 of x" unless the PDF is only 1 page.  In that case, it defaults to Print All.
The Print() method defaults to Print All.  However, if you call it before the PDF is fully loaded, it does not show.  I have searched these forums and found many other people running into this issue.  One thread suggested to put in a timer to make sure the PDF is loaded and then call print.  This works for small PDFs but our customers could be printing thousands of pages so there is no way to know how long to make the delay.
I tried paying for Support to answer this question and was told there were NO PAID OPTIONS for getting support on the Acrobat SDK and to come post the question here.  The Support Engineer I spoke with assured me developers read and respond to these forums.
This is a critical issue for an important customer so any feedback is much appreciated.
An Adobe employee (Irosenth) mentioned something about a bug being reopened in this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2601148#2601148) but no bug number was ever given.  If it truly is a bug, please provide the number, description and ETA for fix.
If there is no solution, can I get a response from Adobe that supports my research as posted above?  In other words, confirm that both the API are working as expected?
Finally, given that it seems many people want this functionality, how do I submit an enhancement request?
    Best Regards,
    Brian

I downloaded Reader X and the problem is still occurrring, as was reported by the originator of this thread back in November.
Are there any parameters that need to be set for this to work?  My customer is getting very impatient with this.
Also, since downloading Reader X the toolbar does not appear by default. It pops up when you hover over the top of the window.   How do I get the toolbar to appear by default?  (this is not nearly as important as defaulting the print dialog to Print All on mulitple page docs when using printwithdialog).

  • Changing printing default so not all calendars are selected to print

When I print with the new version of iCal, all calendars are selected to print by default. Under the "old" iCal (v.2.0.5) only the selected calendar (or calendars) are designated for printing. Is there a way to change the default in Leopard's iCal so that only the selected calendars print?
I have nearly 30 calendars I manage (I know this is excessive but it is a reality in my job) and I generally print only one or two calendars together at a time.

Looks like this is indeed a software bug. According to the iCal help:
+By default, the calendars that are currently selected in the main iCal window will be printed. Selecting or deselecting calendars here doesn’t affect what’s checked in the main calendar view; it only affects what’s printed.+
+If you select a calendar group, all calendars in the group are printed.+
    Please fix this!!

  • Indesign defaults to print all pages

Many times I have printed a single page of a multiple page document, checked it, made a change and then reprinted it... only to have the printer spit out ALL pages instead of the same one I printed earlier.
The print dialog seems to always default to the all pages setting instead of retaining the last page range requested.
It appears to preserve all the other print settings - is there any rationale behind this or is it just to keep us on the ball?
    Cheers
    John G :-)

  • Printing a calendar, help!

Hi, I never used this feature before but now I'd like to create a calendar and print it at home. I exported it in pdf but I cannot manage to set it in order to fit an A4 sheet. The problem is it prints in one sheet the photo and in the other the calendar, so it would be 24 sheets for the months plus one for the cover. Any ideas? Thanks

    AU:
There is a way you can print a calendar to A4 paper, both sides. First do a Print to PDF with the option Save PDF to iPhoto as seen in this screenshot:
This will create a 2000 x 1600 pixel jpg file of each page of the calendar. Once in iPhoto you can print a photo page onto A4 borderless paper, turn it over and print the corresponding calendar on the reverse side.
If you want to create a higher resolution jpg for printing you can edit the Send PDF to iPhoto workflow with Automator and change the dpi setting from 200 to 300. This will create a 3000 x 2400 pixel jpg of each page.
The workflow to edit can be found in the HD/System/Library/PDF Services folder. It's called Save PDF to iPhoto.workflow. Make a copy of it, drop it on the Automator icon to open in Automator and make the necessary edits. Name the copy appropriately and put in the same folder with the original workflow.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Setting Printer Acrobat XI Default to print all PDF files last page first

    Hello,
I have just recently upgraded to Mavericks and also have the Creative Cloud using Acrobat XI Pro. In using Reader 9, whenever I printed a PDF the output would print in reverse order, so all I would have to do is take it from the printer and hand it off; it would be in the correct order. How do I setup Acrobat XI Pro to accomplish the same settings (print in reverse order) on not only 1 PDF, but all PDF files? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

Can a print preset be created that would work for all PDF files and not just the one opened? Just trying to find out since no one has answered my question in 2 days and Tech Support wasn't much help.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Ical doesn't show all calendars from icloud

I don't all the calenders from icloud from my ipad 2 and ,my iphone 4, anyone has similar problem? and happen to know what steps I missed??

    Gabriella,
Sometimes making the Calendar window bigger, or using full screen allows additional text to be displayed.
View>"Make Text Smaller" is also an option for those with Eagle Eyes.

  • ICal 2.02 printing

I recently upgraded to Tiger and the new iCal. I print my calendar each month to hang by my desk and I noticed that the print experience has changed in the new version. The new printing interface is great but its coming up short for me. Here is what's going on.
First of all the Print Setup menu command and dialog is gone. Unfortunately this leaves you no way to choose a printer prior to entering the print dialog. Since one of my printers is tabloid size, and this is what I use to print my calendar, I find that I can enter the print dialog with my letter size printer choosen as default from the last app I printed from, and then not be able to choose the tabloid page size because that page size is not offered by my letter size printer. I have to go into another application to choose my tabloid printer so that when I return to the print dialog the larger page size is offered. You need to include a printer menu so I can choose my printer and its page size options.
The next item I noticed is that when I print out on a larger sheet of paper like tabloid I want to choose Large for the size of text. This option increases the size of all my calendar entries, but none of the calendar text: the days of the week, day numbers, mini calendars all remain in very small text and is hard to read from any distance. This was not so in the earlier version of iCal where all text elements grew larger.

I am using iCal 2.03 but observed a similar problem ...no Page Setup option. As a result, I could not choose USA letter (borderless) on my Canon i960. This is needed in order to avoid cutoff of the Month name and the right border. From other posts, I found a way to do this that might help you somewhat. From iCal print to a PDF, open the PDF (in Preview), and use the Page Setup to set tabloid on your printer, then print from Preview, rather than go back to iCal.
Regarding the Large text issue, I observed the same behavior, but with a letter-size calendar that gets put up on the fridge, this is not an issue for me. Try upgrading iCal ...maybe they've re-installed the feature you used in earlier versions. I agree with you, however.... Apple needs to follow their usual interface standards and include Page Setup in iCal.

  • My ical froze and keeps trying to process a cut and paste that I added to the calendar.  I have to force quit but the next time I open it is still frozen.  Can't use at all.  Help!

My iCal has frozen when I tried to add a cut and paste to the calendar for notes on a meeting I'm attending.  I have to force quit but the next time I open it is still frozen and everything I've tried doesn't erase the message so I can continue using.  Can't use at all.  Help!

I have the same problem--have you found a solution?

  • Why won't iCal print all my Calendars when I can see them on the screen?

I have eight Calendars set up in iCal. When I select 'Print' a new screen appears and, once again, I can see all eight Calendars. The word 'Print' is at the top of this screen. I press the Continue box and a second Print screen appears. This time all but two of my Calendars have disappeared (confirmed if I open in Preview). And of course it's only this version that prints. What happened between the first Print screen and the second, and how can I manage to print all my Calendars?

    Hi st louis,
Are the tickets you downloaded from Ticketmaster PDFs? If so, have you opened them in Acrobat or Reader to print them? I haven't ever been required to enter a password to print an e-ticket from Ticketmaster, but they may have changed their policy. Did they provide you with a password when you purchased your tickets--perhaps in the confirmation email?
    Best,
    Sara

I had a similiar problem, with my multiple devices.  I open iTunes and when all devices were connected I went to the info section on each device.  Under info I checked the sync calandars. Under that I click all calanders. I then did the apply in low right. I then did the sync function and it fixed it for me.  You have to do this for each device.
I also checked the device (ipad,Iphone) themselves and change the calander selection to NO Catagory.  Hope this helps.

  • Printing 'checked calendars' in iCal

I have 25+ calendars in iCal and always found the following functionality useful (which is described in iCal 2.0 Help online):
+By default, the calendars that are currently selected in the main iCal window will be printed. Selecting or deselecting calendars here does not affect what's checked in the main calendar view, it only affects what is printed.+
I didn't realize just how useful this feature was until I upgraded to 3.0 and it stopped working this way. Now whenever I go to print a calendar, ALL calendars are checked to be printed as the default and I have to uncheck the ones I don't want one by one (or by group).. even more annoying because the window they give you to do this in the Print dialogue box is tiny not resizable.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any help on how I can get iCal to work properly? I checked iCal help within the application and it says the default is the same as I listed above from 2.0. Your feedback and help is much appreciated!

I'm adding a "me too" too. This is making me crazy. I have about 10 calendars that I have to uncheck to print one calendar every day!

  • How do I print monthly calendars in iCal 5 with location?

    Hello,
Our office uses iCal to manage our schedule. I cannot get a monthly printout from iCal that displays location information i.e. information entered as location on iCal. Previously on our windows machines we had to use Outlook Calendar Assistant for this (which I still can't understand because this seems to be a very trivial problem, at least to me). The printouts are demanded by some older employees that absolutely need paper versions.
Can I export an iCal file to another program to print my calendar the way I need it? Can I do it from iCal directly? Outlook 2011 isn't an option at the moment because it does not sync with Google Calendars yet. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    With pleasure!
Great to know it worked for you

  • Printing blank calendars in iCal

How do I print out a range of BLANK calendar months (eg, October to December) that I can then fill in manually?

I'm glad you figured it out because I don't think I would have.
I think your request (ie printing blank calendars) is unique enough as to not be found in any help or tutorials but I think after reviewing some info and playing around w/ iCal you'd discover the answer yourself. You might want to look here for a nice overview: http://www.apple.com/support/ical/ and especially the link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/work/10/ as well as iCal's Help menu.
