ICal deleted all my events before a certain date on it's own

I couldn't tell you when this happened, but just noticed it today. I went back to check on a prior event detail in my iCal and realized EVERYTHING from all calendars before October 11th has been deleted completely. Is there anyway I can get this info back?... kinda need it for tax purposes..
I do have a time machine backup of the whole computer, but assume I'd lose my new events since that backup if I reverted.
THANK YOU
adam

I am getting more confident that the problem has something to do with a background synchronization process. If I launch either Entourage or iSync, iCal launches also automatically. Perhaps there is a sync preference somewhere that got fouled up?
Can anyone verify that launching Entourage or iSync also triggers iCal to launch on its own?

  • Why does ical delete my past events when all settings indicate that it should not?

All of the boxes, about deleting past events, in ical preferences are unchecked, so I can't figure out why ical deletes my past events.  Could it be because of a setting on either my iphone or ipad causing this to happen?

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and called apple support.  The solution is as follows:
Most apple users have multiple devices using icloud such as an iPdad, iPhone, and other computers.  In my case, I had two computers, two iPads, and one iPhone.   After speaking to apple support, I realized that one of my ipad's setting were set to delete events older then 2 weeks.   In short, if you are expeirienceing problems with ical deleteing events, you better check all your devices.  If just one of them is set wrong in your preferences, you will lose past events.   Even check computers you gave to your cildren or other members of the family.  You will probably find out that the settings on one of these machines is causing your problems.

  • Opened ical and all my events were erased and all my calendar accounts were gone and it will not allow me to add new events or new accounts

I opened my ical and all my events had been erased and all my claendar accounts were gone and it will not allow me to add new events or accounts.

    Hi John,
Thanks so much for wading in. I did exactly what you suggested - glad you gave me the hint about how to access my library files. There was only one document that seemed to have anything to do with cache, and that was called Calendar Cache. (I've attached a screen capture of all the files incase I should have deleted something else as well.) I deleted Calendar Cache then restarted iCal, but after updating I was still unable to add new events.
Is there anything else you can suggest?
    Thanks again,
    Susan

  • I have an ipod touch and i just bought a new laptop, because i lost mine. i try to sync the music in the itouch to my new laptop but it asks me if i want to delete all my music before syncing  what should i do?

i have an ipod touch and i just bought a new laptop, because i lost mine which has all the data of my itouch. i try to sync the music in the itouch to my new laptop but it asks me if i want to delete all my music before syncing  what should i do?

You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The ipod will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase teh content from the ipod.

  • I deleted all my events in iPhoto

Hi some how i have managed to delete all my events in iphoto i do not have time machne set up yet and would really like to get them all back can anyone offer any help, do Mac have a system restore point like windows, am still getting use to the Mac only had it about 5 weeks

That software works just fine.  Ive used it, you will run a deleted file scan.  You can buy that exact same software at the Apple Store.  Its not made by Apple but its is used to recover deleted files.
Also - have you checked to see if the iphoto library is there in your pictures folder,  if so hold controle + click, or right click on the "iPhoto Library" and sellect "show packedge contents"  then find your "originas" folder - do you see your phtos there ?

  • Should I first delete all saved passwords before assigning master password firefox 21

I want to start using the 'Master Password' feature. There are a couple of hundred 'stored' passwords in the Options-Security-Saved Passwords tab so I'm wondering if it would be best to delete ALL of these before setting up a Master Password. I will be changing and deleting several of the 'stored' passwords anyway. But my main question is whether or not the 'Master Password' would encrypt All of the existing 'stored' passwords and what if they have already been comprised by surfing anyway??

    No need to delete that.
Master passwords are used to protect the saved passwords.

  • How to delete all calendar events in my iphone.

I need to delete all the events in my iphone which I have added manually in the calendar. Should I delete one by one in the calendar or do we have an option to delete all. I haven't synched my calendar with any external softwares including iCloud.

Turn ON Calendar in iCloud settings and choose merge. Wait few seconds and turn in back OFF. Choose delete from my iPhone. Now go to www.icloud.com from a desktop browser, sign in with your Apple ID and go to Calendars to delete all entries (if you want) more easily.

  • Fail to add all day event on a specific date

Hi, my ical fail to add all day event on a specific date 2nd of Oct, when i double clickto add all day event, it falls on the 1st or 3rd but not the 2nd?

    Hi Maggie,
Yes you can change your timezone, but in my opinion only Apple can really fix this problem. The more people they know are having the this issue the more likely Apple will fix it. Therefore I suggest you send them feedback about the problem.
    Best wishes

  • Ical deleted all my past events

I am using iMac, iPhone4s, iPad, iPod - yesterday, all of my past events on iCal, across all devices, were deleted. I am not currently using Time Machine on my iMac, and I need to get these events back - I use them at the end of each month for billing purposes. I did not alter my syncing options on any device or on iCloud -- the events have been there since I started using iCloud, now suddenly, they are all gone (everything prior to yesterday's date). Any help in recovering these items would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time!

About your only option would be to try to recover it from your iCloud backup.  There's a user tip here on how to recover contacts from an iCloud backup: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841.  Just substitute calendar for contacts and the process would be the same.  The key for this being successful is to disconnect your router from the internet (step 4), allowing you to turn off calendar syncing with iCloud and keep the calendar on your iPhone before it is overwritten by the iCloud calendar.
If you have any other calendars on your Mac be sure to back them up before trying this using File>Export>Export.

  • How can I STOP ical from deleting all my events after a month or so

No matter how I set the preferences/settings it always keeps deleting all events after 30 to 40 days.
I have gone into preferences and checked off the
    "DELETE EVENTS AFTER...
and put 99 or 999 days and it doens make a difference
If Ileave the box unchecked - it STILL doesn't make difference
    Anyone has a suggestion?
as I keep loosing all the important info/phone numbers I enter.
    Thanks
    Bruno

    Bruno,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Are you using any sync software?
The easiest thing to try is to refresh the the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart, and make sure the deletion preference is not checked.
    ;~)

  • How do I set a date line in my email so I can delete all msgs before a certain date?

i have thousands of emails downloaded and i want to delete all but the most recent couple months..but i can't figure out how to insert the date line in the display so I can delete all prior to that date (I used to be able to do that on my Razor Maxx)

        sharonnyc,
We would love to investigate into assisting you with getting the correct emails deleted. What make/model device do you currently have? What email program are you trying to delete the emails from (ie. Gmail, Yahoo, etc...)? Also, are you using the standard email application on the device or a downloaded 3rd party email app?

  • Delete all-day events in calendar

    Hi,
The iCal on my MacBook Pro and iPhone syncs all-day events and now I have hundreds of duplications appearing. Is there a quick way to delete all the repeated entries. It takes forever to do it manually.
    Many thanks,
    Trond

Go to www.icloud.com and see how many calendars are there.
