ICal does not understand entered time

Maybe this an issue of the German version, hopefully I could also get here some help.
When I enter a new calendar event,e.g. "Fussballspiel am 21.Jän um 8 Uhr" (so at 8 o'clock) using the "+"-Button, a new event is generated at the specified date but the event would start at 20:00. I have tried 08:00, 8:00 always with the same result.
Any ideas what am I doing wrong?

I suggest that you have a corrupted preference file or, worse, a corrupted application. First thing to try would be to quit iCal and then delete the three files that start with com.apple.ical. that you can find in the Preferences folder which is in the Library folder of your home folder.
When you restart iCal, you will need to go through and set your preferences again as they will have reset to their defaults (this includes, for example, the position of the iCal window on the screen etc.)
Post back to let us know if this fixes the problem.

ICal does not add drive time or map to events

In everything that I see online, even the Keynote, it shows iCal for Mavericks adding in the map of the event as well as adding the drive time from your previous location. Yet, mine does not do this. It give me the option of adding drive time, but that isn't what I want. As a side note, when it syncs to my iPhone and iPad, the drive time isn't even added there, but that's for another forum. I have exactly the same problem. I have a few old ical invitations from two years ago that I cannot delete. when I open iCal the default view is for March of 2007! This is driving me nuts. Any ideas? I have tried deleting, 'cutting' accepting, declining..nothing works.

Thank you. It's all back to normal (took around 7 hours on the late 2009 iMac). Time Machine's become better now compared to the last time I used it to migrate everything automatically (Snow Leopard days). With Maverick's Time Machine, it's almost like a cloning (except for the password) tool now. But it's always great to name the account and maybe the hardisk the same names so can just replace a newly installed OS.

Ical does not let me change event time

I use OS 10.5.2. My ical does not let me change the minutes. It always defaults to :40(ie 10.40, 8:40, etc.) and it does not let me change the day. It always defaults to day 30(ie 1/30/08, 4/30/06, etc.)

I am not familiar with the MacBook Pro keyboard or the modifier keys, but try using the Up/Down arrow keys on your keyboard to make the day/time changes.
Let us know if that works.

With Lion 10.7.1. you where able to drag events from "All Day Events" into the "Reminders" bar to create upcoming reminders.

Great being able to sync reminders (well overdue) however if I have to re-type a calener envent into reminders it's a waste of time!!

1. Quit iCal, and open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region:>reset/choose the appropriate region...also check what you have set in Dates/Times
2. If that is unsuccessful, I also recommend using the Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update (Combo).

5800 does not retain date&time stamp for SMS trans...

I just got a new 5800XM a week ago. I upgraded from a Samsung SGH-C260. When I tried to copy the SMS messages off my SIM and on to the Nokia, all the date and time information of the original messages was lost. I tried the SIM in a new Samsung Star and it was able to read the date and time information without trouble, so obviously the information is there and readable.
Does anyone know of a way to successfully transfer these SMS messages without losing the date and time information?

Paresh - my understanding of the original post is that when she does show startup-config that no date is there. There is an explanation for this.
Narayan - the service timestamps is a good command and I agree that specifying datetime is better than the default of displaying uptime. But this command does not have anything to do with the date in the config file.
What does control the presence (or absence in this case) is whether the router has authoritative time at the time the config was changed or saved. The router can have authoritative time by use of the clock set command or by use of NTP. I believe that NTP is a much better solution.
So if the router really knows correct time it will put the time stamp into the config. And if the router does not know correct time it will supress the time stamp. From the fact that the startup config does not have a time stamp we can believe that the router did not know authoritative time when the config was saved. And I do not know any good way to go back and discover it.

ICal does not assert defined alerts

Ever since installing Leopard, iCal does not announce any of the alerts I have defined. It seems to have lost its voice. Even Alex seems to be napping on the job and I had previously had such high regard for him.

Update.....Just read somewhere that the badge only appears when you receive an invite to an event. It won't show for just normal calendar events that fire at the alert time.

WRT54GX2 does not pick up time from the network...

I have a WRT54GX2 running firmware 1.01.14 and it does not pick up time from the network. I have PacBell (now AT&T) as an ISP and a DSL link. My old Netgear router picks up the time immediately. I am trying to figure out if I have a defective unit or if this is a firmware bug. Without the time, I can not use any of the scheduling functions, nor measure uptime.
Does anyone have this router with the time working? I have set the appropriate time zone.

have you reset the router yet? afaik press reset button for 10 seconds.

In 5s, personal hot spot does not work from time to time. Iphone does not get detected on Wi-fi or bluetooth. Restarting or rebooting does not help.

Settings, general, reset and reset network settings. Clear out your network settings and set personal hotspot again.
also avoid special characters making a password. hashtags or open brackets for example doesn't work too good.

DrawString method does not understand special characters

Hi!
I would like to send a String to a printer. I have tried the drawString method but my problem is, that it does not understand special charaters. The newline character is not a problem as I can just use the split method and then print the resulting array of strings.
The big problem is the tab character (\t). Is there any way to make drawString understand this character? Or is there a more simple way to print the text?

Thanks for your replies. I have to admit that the problem was a completely different one, a really stupid one!
The output from the print method looked horrible to say the least (it is basically an array of numbers separated by equals amounts of space). The problem was that the font was not set to be monospaced (!) so you can imagine how the output looked ;)...

Is calendar syncing enabled on both the computer and the phone.
Are your calendars in your iCloud group and not in a on my mac group.
only calendars in the iCloud group will sync.

DATE type returned from function does not return the time component

Hi,
I'm dealing with a strange problem. I have a PL/SQL function (running on Oracle 8.1.4.7) which returns a DATE value. Like we all know the DATE datatype includes a date component and a time component.
The function I used for testing is like this:

When I call this function from .NET using ODP.NET the date value I get does not have the time component included only the day-month-year components.
This is a code-snippet that calls the function :

I use the OracleDbType.Date type which I think is the most logical choice, because the type in the Database is after all DATE.
However this does not include the time componet. But if I change the OracleDbType.Date to OracleDbType.TimeStamp I get the time component. I'm not happy with this "hack" because I'm not sure what will happen when we upgrade our version of the Database to Oracle 9i which uses the new TimeStamp datatype.
Is this a bug that the OracleDbType.Date does not include the time component??

How do you examine the output Date value?
If it is from the string, then the time components will
not show because the NLS_DATE format in the client
machine does not contain the time components.
In American, the Date format is 'DD-MON-RR' by default whereas, the TimeStamp format is 'DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM' by default.
Can you take a look at the time components from the OracleDate by accessing the time properties, eg. OracleDate.Hour, OracleDate.Minute..etc to see if the time values are there?
