ICal doesnt send invites (to certain accounts)

Hi there, I am using Mountain Lion on a MB Pro. Before and after the upgrade I am having an issue with iCal.
I have two Apple ID's (an old .mac and newer .me) The .me account is the one I am using for iCloud. Neither one of this accts is currently tied to a secondary eMail Address like a google or similar (they were before but in my attempt to fix this issue I have removed secondary emails)
When I create an invite and send it to a recipient with an email in the my Address Book, the invite will not be sent to most of my contacts. For very few (including my wife) it actually works.
I am getting a little bit frustrated with this, anybody any idea?

  • Ical cannot send invites anymore. "?" appears before email address

I can no longer send invitation to calendar events from Ical. a "?" mark appears before the email address. Have gone into preference and have no idea what might hace affected this.  Any help appreciated.

I have the exact same problem with a caveat - I shouldn't be using one company's mail server to send invitations related to another company! A corporate resources no-no.
It would be nice if each calendar could be associated with an email account.
See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7539832&#7539832 for a full discussion. When iCal invokes Mail to send the invitation Mail uses the preference for 'Send new mail from' which in my case is the 'Account of last viewed mail'. So I can work around the problem by going to Mail, selecting the account that I want iCal to use and then sending the invitation.

  • ICal not sending invites

    Hey,
Is there anybody experienced tha problem when trying to send invite (meeting request) via iCal it sais:
iCal could not send the invitation.
To send invitations, create a card in Address Book.
I've created Address Book card for that person but it didn't solve my problem.
    Any thoughts?

Solution: just add yourself in Address Book and click "Card" -> "Make This My Card" for iCal to know whom to put in "From" field.

  • ICal Server sends invitations via external email but no RSVP

I have set up a fresh install of Mavericks Server (10.9.3) running DNS and OD Services and now enabled iCal Server.
I setup invitation of external users via an external email address and  invitations get sent and delivered via email just fine so I guess plus-addressing must be supported by the mailserver.
However the invitations do not show the RSVP requests and do not automatically get picked up by Calendar.app.
The server sits behind a NAT router and runs its own Split-DNS setup for the same local domain myserver.xyz.com that the router also redirects to the internal IP address of the server for external access to the iCal Server (so, FQDN is working for the server). The email account used for invitations is hosted on an external mailserver that runs on the same domain (mail.xyz.com).
Did I miss anything in my setup?
    Thanks for any input.
    Pete

Okay, got this figured out. Appears that the email server my client's company uses is terminating the connection when the Xserve tries to do anything. I setup a test Gmail account and used those settings instead and everything worked just fine.

  • Cannot send emails from certain accounts

Gmail account sends and receives fine. Home email account receives fine but will not send unless I am home and connected to my wi-fi. Work email receives fine but will not send.
All smtp servers for all accounts and AT&T smtp server are on.
Suggestions or directions to topics that would help apprecitated.

Your Gmail account can send messages regardless if you are connected to AT&T's cellular network or to an available wi-fi network because Gmail has an authenticated SMTP server.
Most internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP unless the SMTP server is authenticated. The reason you can send messages with your Home email account or ISP's email account when connected to your wi-fi network is because you are connected to the internet with your ISP via your wi-fi network. Most internet service providers do not have an authenticated SMTP server.
If your work email account does not have an authenticated SMTP server, the same applies with your work email account unless you are connected to the internet with internet service provider at work.
These restrictions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
If you have AT&T's SMTP server on for your Home email account and work email account, and an you are unable to send messages with the SMTP server when connected to AT&T's cellular network, it should switch to AT&T's SMTP server to send, but this may take longer than it should or is expected.

  • How to prevent iCal from sending invitations

After receiving an invite for dinner to my brother's home I used Siri to set up the "Appointment" on my iPhone 6 plus.  I then received a phone call from my brother asking why he received an email from me confirming an "Appointment" for dinner.  How do I stop the Calendar from sending these email invitations.

    Hello Vtgolfr,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the Calendar event that you created on your iPhone included your brother's email address. Before saving an event in the future, you may want to check the invitee field to see if his email is being populated by Siri when you create a calendar event.
You can find more information about Calendar invitations in the iOS 8 User Guide:

  • Apple Mail won't send invitations when initially closed

I just started using iCal to send invitations for appointments through Apple Mail. When Apple Mail is opened already when I create the appointment and click Send in iCal, it works fine. The mail is sent and delivered to the appropriate address.
But if Apple Mail is closed initially, the application starts and the invitation is queued up in the Outbox but is never sent. I can manually open up each invitation in Mail and send them individually, but why is the behavior different? Whether Mail is opened or closed when I send an invitation, it ought to deliver the invitation automatically. By not being sent, I may not realize the invitation hasn't been delivered, making the process very error-prone. Is there a way to guarantee the invitation actually gets sent without having to check the Outbox every time?
Is this an iCal bug or an Apple Mail bug? I saw no settings in Apple Mail for sending messages at shutdown or any other setting like this. Instead, these invitations may end up being buried in my Outbox for a very long time before I notice and by then, it may be too late.

Since I bought a new modem/router (Netgear n600), my Apple mail won't send e-mails. It will receive. My ISP is AT&T & the email accounts are via yahoo. I have a Macbook Pro with a recent OSX.
The most recent OS is currently OS 10.8.3.  Your system profile confirms you are still using Mac OS X (10.7.5).  If this is incorrect, please correct your profile so that you will get the correct troubleshooting suggestions/solutions.

  • Customize ical server  email invitation to events?

Is there a way to customize the email invitation that iCal server from snow leopard Server that sends to people outside of the organization when there is an event? maybe fonts? some custom text or company logo?
    Thank you.

iCal Server sends invitations to internal users too if you remove the email addresses of your internal users under "Info" in Workgroup Manager.
So the Open Directory does not have an entry for the users with your internal domain, which makes iCal Server see the user as an external one.

  • Publishing iCal - time zone issue & sending invites - Entourage?

    Hi there,
Am currently looking into using iCal as our internal calendar system, and just have a couple of quick questions:
    1. I've been mucking around with publishing a test calendar on .Mac, and there seems to be a problem with the time zones. I'm in Sydney, Australia, and my System Prefs on my local machine are set to this time zone, and on my .Mac account I've set them to Sydney, Australia as well. However, when I publish the calendar, an event that's in my calendar on my local machine at 10.30am ends up published as occurring at 6.30pm? Is there a preference setting I've missed somewhere?
    2. Is there any way to use Entourage for sending invitations to iCal events? Even though I've set the Default E-mail Reader in Apple Mail as Entourage, whenever I try to invite a user to an iCal event, Apple Mail is launched. Why isn't it recognising my preference settings?
    Thanks,
    Claire.

I am not sure about No 2, but someone clever here might help.
So far as the first one goes, have a look at the orginal event (in iCal) and see whether it 'thinks' it's in Sydney. (I am guessing that you might have imported the data from elsewhere, so if it doesn't show properly you could try: a. making a positive change to the correct timezone, or b. deleting it and recreating the correct event from scratch in iCal. Then republish and check the web version. If this is getting somewhere, I can explain what I think is happening.)

  • Defining email account for sending invites

I think I'm using iCal as intended. I work at home and have multiple calendars but let's just say I have three calendars -- Home, Work and Other -- and I have three email accounts -- eHome, eWork and eOther.
I seem to have limited control over which email address is used to send invites from a particular calendar. I think I understand why it changes but what I can't understand is why can't I set the outbound email account on a per-calendar basis.
Ideally, I could click on the calendar and in the info pane, select one of the e-mail accounts in my mail application (Mail). That would be static such that any time I sent an invite from the Work calendar, it would be sent via my eWork account.
Is there a way to do this that I'm missing? This seems like a rather obvious weekness that is causing confusion with my various associates. Is there a way to address this?
    Thank you,

Yes, I think you understand the situation. However, just yesterday something happened that really confused me. I thought the messages were sent via one of the accounts define in Mail. However, I sent out invitations to two people and got the responses back on my Blackberry! dress in the address book.
When I investigated, the replies were actually sent directly to the Blackberry's e-mail address and the invitees thought they may have come from that address. I have no Blackberry account defined in mail and only the address is listed in "MY" card in the Address Book. Very odd.
I've looked at some recent invites and they are being sent via several different addresses/accounts (e.g. work, DSL account, .Mac, etc.) The Blackberry thing definitely has me confused.

  • After upgrading to iCloud, iCal doesn't send invitation anymore

    Hi guys.
    I've this "simple" problem.
After upgrading to iClous, my iCal doesn't send invitation anymore!
    Please, help me!
    Federico.

I've found some other people discussing this recently in the internet (although not as many as I thought) so it seems to be a generalized problem.
I wouldn't want to swtich back to local calendar and sync everything back but this is an annoying problem becase there's no way you can know if the invite went out or not.
Did someone find an official acknowledge of this or something like that? I'm not sure if it's something in our configuration that's causing the problem. My Apple ID email is my personal email address and my calendar used to send invites through my work account (which is the only account configured in my mac currently). I'm not sure what mechanism does iCloud use to send the invites (it didn't work in any device or even in iCloud.com itself).
    Best,

  • I can't send invites or share calendars with a certain person

I'm trying to send an invite to my partner (both on @me "icloud" accounts). If i use the mac to share an invite i put her address in and it never shows up so i have to fill it in in whole, then it says you cannot share a calander with yourself
Strange that it should say that as my account is in my apple id.
If i try to share a calender through iCloud.com her name & address comes up when typing but i get this when i click send
I can send invites & share calenders with other people and she can send share a calender with myself ?
Any ideas on what i can do ?

They said that it wasn't them, they contacted Apple and they were aware of the problem. But still Apple didn't know if it was hardware of software problems.
