ICal Duplicate Events

My new events keep duplicating themselves. How can I prevent this?

This is from page 16 of the iPhone Manual:
"Note: You should not sync items on the Info pane of iTunes (such as contacts, calendars, and notes) and also use iCloud to keep that information up to date on your devices. If you do both, duplicated data may result."
I think this is what is probably happening in my case with duplicate events in iCal on my computer. I am not getting duplicates on my iOS devices.
I'll check when I get home.

ICal Duplicate Events After Upgrading to Snow Leopard

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I noticed almost all my Events were duplicated. The Duplicates were collected from all calendars and are in one of the Calendars (Paul Events). Strangely a new Calendar (Paul Events 2) was created, but deleting this Calendar did not help. Additionally a previously deleted Calendar from months ago was re installed.
I have a MobileMe account that syncs automatically.
Did this happen to anyone else. I am still developing a solution to get rid of the duplicate events, but don't have one yet.

After the Snow Leopard upgrade, performed 10/19/09, and the immediate update to OSX 10.6.1, I wanted to sync my iPod Touch 2G.
I was notified I had 67 iCal events to add, and 18 more modified events (85 total -- (a lot of birthdays). All were duplicates. I didn't sync. Is there any way to delete them?
Also, over the past 18 months of MBP ownership, my alarms for each event have increased to about 8 (they sound once, but I have to clear each of them on my computer screen), And my Contact notes, have doubled+ (as if Copy + Paste were used), with many spaces, and some of the information lost.
I was hoping for a Contacts & Calendar that would match the stability of my retired Windows Mobile Dell Axim X50v, before it took a virus, spread it to my Gateway desktop, completely destroying it (the desktop is NO MORE (couldn't be fixed) and I've retired the Axim).
What is the solution?

ICal creates calendar account every time I open iCal - duplicate Events

Hi,
I have a Lion Server and 2 Clients (with Lion). All the latest updates are installed on all computers.
On the Lion Server is the iCal Server running.
Ok I configured iCal on a client (Lion). This client has 2 cal accounts (in Preferences -> Accounts).
Nr.1 = WebDAV from the Lion iCal Server
Nr.2 = the iCloud accout from the client-user
Ok here is my problem:
When I start iCal on the client mac, iCal everytime creates a duplicate iCal account of my WebDAV account. So the account Nr. 1 exists twice AND all events will be duplicated. If i wouldn't delete the new account everytime, the WebDAV-account would exist 10 times (when I start the app 10 times).
And this account will also be created when I delete ALL accounts in iCal and restart the app. This also happens when I deactivate the iCloud account on this Mac.
I also tried to delete all files in ~/Library/Calendars but this problem still exists!
This is really annoying.

Ok, the same problem occurs when I start my mac not in my local network, but in a network that is connected to the Internet. The WebDAV cal account will be created automatically when Internet is available.
Any suggestions?

How do you fix imported iCal duplicate events?

I just downloaded and imported the latest Nascar Sprint Cup 2012 iCal calendar. I imported it as a NEW calendar. My calendars are PUSHED from iCloud. I've found notices pushed out to my iPhone and iPad are also often duplicated as well but only entered once into one calendar (duplicates in the same calendar). What causes this and can it be fixed? How?

ok, got some news for this issue. It all depends upon the ics file you are importing. I just tried importing the same schedule from SouthEnd Zone (http://www.southendzone.com/ics/packers/) and no duplicates. Anything I download from MySportsCal.com will always duplicate.

ICal duplicating events

My ipod touch iCal duplicates events. Even after I've deleted them they come back. I sometimes have six or seven of the same event in a day. I'm just about to give up and stop using it and try another app. This seems to be an old problem. I've found instances on here dating back to 2009. Haven't they fixed it yet?? Any ideas?

Are the events in the same calendar or different ones? You can check this by showing and hiding calendars.

How do I delete duplicate events in my iCal?

Using SyncMate to sync my calendar and contacts from my Droid X to my iMac (MAC Office doesn't work since I upgraded to Lion). Seemed successful. However, I now have duplicate events in my iCal. How can I delete the duplicate events?

Duplicate calendar entries can definitely clutter up iCal. I found an article that has specifically addresses duplicate birthday entries in iCal. You can find the steps under section titled "7. Clean up birthdays and use the Birthday Calendar" in the following article:

How do I eliminate duplicate events in iCal?

I accidentally imported Mobile Me calender data after I had already set up iCloud syncing. Now I have dupicates of everything in iCal. ho do I eliminate them?

You can try to deactivate and activate Calendars in System Preferences > iCloud to delete them. Duplicate events in calendar

Duplicate events in iCal

I've just started using iCloud and now whenever it updates I get duplicate events in my calendar on my Mac. I delete one copy of each event and all seems well until the next sync. Is there a preference that I need to adjust to prevent this from happening?

Thanks for the mention LexSchellings. However i don't believe it will work in this case. If the events are in different calendars then they won't be considered duplicate.
TonyInSF could you answer these 3 questions?
When you look at the calendar list in iCal what sections are the calendars under ("ON MY MAC, "ICLOUD", "EXCHANGE", "GOOGLE" etc.)?
Are all the calendars checked when you look at the calendar list?
Where do you sync your calendars to?

Ical duplicate the date Saturday , October 18th and mess up all events

ICal shows Saturday, October 18th, duplicated at the calendar schedule for events. It brings trouble for every syncing messing up the events and crashes. When I open the calendar at mobileme page the date is duplicated there too. The calendars are only correct at my IPhone. I m a physician and its causing serious problems in syncing my appointments among my computers and devices. Could someone help me, please?

should clarify that I deleted duplicate events on the ipod so that should have left one in ical. there is still one listed in ical on the ipod but not on the computer, so deleting duplicate entry deleted it entirely from my ical on computer and mobile me. no icloud yet

My problem is that my iCal won't sync from my first-generation iPad to my computer, and the computer sends events multiple times back to the iPad... which is now full of duplicate events. I'm NOT on iCloud.

I'm just an old lady who doesn't know a lot about this stuff, but I do love my iPad and miss my portable calendar! My problem is that my iCal won't sync from my (first-generation, cheaper of the two models) iPad to my computer, and the computer sends events multiple times back to the iPad... which is now full of duplicate events. I'm NOT on iCloud. I've had this problem for nearly a year now. My Really Really Smart son couldn't fix it for me.

There's no simple answer to that. My calendar goes back to 2004 and is moderately busy; it took around an hour. It's possible that you've hit a slow period on the server - it happens.
In order for it to work, your calendars should show on the MobileMe site, they should be listed under your MobileMe login name in the calendar list in iCal (calendars listed under 'On My Mac' will not sync) and your MM account details have to be entered in iCal Preferences>Accounts (this should have happened by itself).

ISync & iCal : Why does it duplicate events?

Just yesterday started using a new Nokia 2730 mobile phone. The first time I used iSync it seemed to correctly transfer all my calendar events onto the phone. However, with every new sync, duplicate calendar events are appearing both in iCal and my mobile phone.
Can someone please help me...
a. Understand why this is happening?
b. What settings must I put in (iSync? iCal? MobileMe?) to stop this from happening every time I want to sync?
c. How do I remove all the duplicate events already created in iCal?

"Open "Settings" on the iPod Touch>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks>Accounts>your MobileMe account and turn off Calendars, when prompted delete data, and wait two minutes, then turn Calendars back on. When asked merge the data, make that choice, and wait patiently. You should no longer have duplicates. If you are able, I recommend using a Wi-Fi connection to make the change. Then do the same thing for Contacts."
come on guys macs are easy but you really expect them to be idiot proof.... take a little initiative instead of complaining and it might pay off more. It took me a grand total of 2 min to find the workaround.... prob less time than it took you to whip off these posts.

Why does my ical show duplicate events?

Why does my ical keep creating duplicate events on multiple devices!!!!! I have turned off icloud but it keeps getting worse! I'm up to 5 entries for all birthdays.

Duplicate Events - Migrating from Entourage to iCal

Upgraded to Snow Leopard, and decided to try and make the big move from Entourage to Mail/iCal.
Mail and iCal have no issues whatsoever connecting to my Exchange 2007 server, but iCal creates two of every event in my iCal calendar. I also get notifications of new events in both Mail and in iCal, prompting me to accept the meeting in both applications.
Given that I'm typically scheduled in 50+ meetings a week, you can imagine how this quickly makes a mess of my calendar. In the meantime, I've taken my Mail account offline, deleted my iCal calendar, and gone back to Entourage, where everything appears normal.
I am not a MobileMe user.

I'm having the exact same problem with Snow Leopard. Entourage is working fine but when I connect with iCal, I get tons of duplicate events. I deliberately not syncing via MobileMe until I get this sorted out so that is not a likely cause. We need some Apple folks' help on this fast!
