ICal erased itself from system

I have 10.4 on my Macbook Pro. I was using iCal in class a couple days ago and it just froze the entire computer up when I tried to close the program.
When I restarted the computer, the program stopped working completely. When I go to finder --> Applications ---> iCal, the program is still there but when I right click and hit "get info" it says in the kb spot "-- Kb" meaning that the program is completely gone.
Where can I go to download and reinstall this program again?

BlckCamaroSS,
Just follow the instructions listed in, Custom installs in Mac OS X 10.4 to reinstall iCal.
Then download and reinstall the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update appropriate for your hardware to bring iCal up to the most current version.

  • Hd is erasing itself HELP!

    hi all,
my harddisk on my new 2010 macbookpro o is erasing itself - from hour to hour around 4GB is disappearing. automatically the amount of free diskspace is increasing. it started yesterday with Message "Disk almost Full". And then it started erasing ... since the last hours I lost 20 gb.
diskutiliy, repair permissions and volume found nothing.tech tool Deluxe found nothing.
    is this à harddrive failure?
    Any ideas appreciated?

If you were receiving messages that the disk was "almost full" at the commencement of the process , paulcezanne, then it is possible that you had caused some damage by overfilling it with some consequent directory damage (always keep at least 10% of your HD space free. preferably 20%).
Another possibility maybe that you had been using applications that created large scratch files, and that these were simply erased when you stopped using them, freeing up the relevant space, just as the computer should do when operating normally. (Burning DVds with some applications can produce such a phenomenon involving many gigabytes of space, for example).
It isn't at all clear from your posts whether you have actually lost any real data. You need to provide more specific information about what, if anything, you have actually "lost" before it will be possible to make sense of your situation.
Your print spooler problem may also have accounted for some space issues. Usually when print spoolers demonstrate heavy CPU use it is because a print file is either "hung up" or corrupted.
No, there are no known viruses , worms, etc that will cause the problem you describe in OSX. But it is not clear really whether you had a genuine problem at all from the information you have provided.

  • Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • List of pending bills required from system

    Hi
I have 58 branches all over India. Electricity Charges for all these branches are paid by HO depending on the electricity bill received by HO from branch. Electricity amount will differ every month for every branch
Now at the month end, i need to know the list of branches from which we have not received electricity bills. Since there are 58 branches, manual tracking for receipt of electricity bill is not possible.
So i need list from system itself which will show the branch list for which electricity bills are not received.
Note: Each branch represent one profit center.

    Hi Meenu
I believe the reply given by SAPFICO holds quite good... It makes sense to me
You dont even need to go for any SHORT TEXT solution... And FYI, you can ask your ABAPer to create a F4 help for the SGTXT field and you can select values based on that... Or create one from Ob56
To simplify the process and make 58 entries each month, I would prefer a small development as below
    1. Create a Z Table where you Maintain the Prof Ctr (Branch) / Cost Center, Amount, GL Account, and Month
Whenever you receive a bill, just make an entry into this Z table...
    2. Create a BAPI program to post the elec bills in one shot to the desired Cost center

  • HT201250 Is there a possibility to recover erased files from an external hard drive that was reformatted by the Time Machine?

Is there a possibility to recover erased files from an external hard drive that was reformatted by the Time Machine?

    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location.  OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone.  Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.

  • Need help restoring an itouch that erased itself and now gives an error message

I have an ipod touch and was syncing it when it seems to have completely erased itself. Before that I had it in my purse and it had a weird yellow and white screen with no words. I turned it off and back on and it seemed fine. Anyway after that i synced it erased itself. It went back to the screen with the itunes symbol and the ubs cord, like when it is new and you need to initialize it. When I did that, it said I needed to restore, when I hit restore it went through as if it was fine, but then in the end it gives me an error message saying it cannot restore, the error message is 1611. What else can I do to get this working?

Error 1611: This error may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Alsoattempt to restore while connected with a known-good 30-pin Dock Connector cable, computer, and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value (00 499901 064000 0) can also confirm a hardware issue. Out-of-date or incorrectly configured proxy or security software, such as FoxyProxy, can cause error 1611. To troubleshoot third-party security software, follow these steps.

i accidentaly erased the application system prefences how do i get it back?

Often when people think they've deleted an application, what's really happened is that they deleted its icon from the Dock. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. If the application is in that folder, drag it to the Dock (not to the Desktop or anywhere else.) The other Dock icons will move out of the way to make a place for it.

    I don't understand!
These information are contradctory. Now my account is locked.
What Am I supposed to do???
    thanks for your help!

Well as far as I can tell the only developed alternative to Apple is Microsoft, sure you want to go there?
iCloud (and Mobile Me before it) are consumer level systems, working correctly they are a poor choice for business use, if you want to stay all Mac try Zimbra if you can let a little Microsoft in the mix use Microsoft Exchange (Mail, iCal & Address Book are compatible as clients), hosted Exchange systems cost about $10 per month.
Or try to fix what is wrong with your installation (which is clearly not running as it should)

  • Erasing songs from iPod, how to put back on

Okay, I am about to restore my iPod to factory setting because it has been acting up lately, and I understand that all songs will be erased. After all songs have been erased, how do I transfer the songs from itunes back ON to my iPod? I don't know what to do and don't want to screw iTunes up by updating my iPod and erasing all the songs on iTunes... Help please!

Yes it is set to do that. I was just worried it would all of a sudden not recognize my iPod, go crazy, and erase itself...

  • IMac G5 starts up by itself from sleep mode

    Hi Guys,
My iMAC G5 suddenly decided to start up by itself from sleep mode. I put it back to sleep and about 1-2 hrs it starts up again. I bought in 10/04. My local Apple dealer wants $75.00 just to look at it and being a 72 yr old senior, it's a bit stiff.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    chris

OK, if you are sure it is not actually shutting down and restarting (it will do this if you have a defective power supply and "restart automatically after a power failure" enabled in the Energy saver system preferences options), and the problem still occurs with all non Apple USB devices disconnected, then it is probably either a network or a software issue.
Again in the "Energy Saver" Options make sure that "wake for ethernet network administrator access' is turned off.
Now think about any software that may undertake any form of time scheduled activity. Elgato's EyeTV is one example that has sometimes been implicated in this behaviour, but many other things like virus checkers and drive utilities can also be involved. THese sorts of things usually involve components which run in the background even when the primary application itself has been shut down.
You can often get an idea by seeing what is running in the background using "Activity Monitor". Checking your "startup items" is a good idea too in case a software installation has put something there without telling you.
Sometimes these sorts of issues can also involve a computer which is not actually going fully to sleep for some reason. In such cases the screen sleeps but the power light on the computer doesn't start "pulsing" as it should if the computer is snoozing properly .

  • My Iphone 5 erased itself.

I have an Iphone 5. I sent my phone to Apple to have the power button fixed. About a week after it came back I walked away from my phone and when I came back I noticed it was on the setup screen. My phone had reset itself and erased all of my contents. I restored it from my backup, that was about two months ago. Tonight I was talking on the phone and in the middle of my conversation I once again went to a white screen and I watched my phone restore and once again erase itself.  Does anyone have any ideas?

you may be experiencing software issues. try plugging into iTunes and restoring the iPhone. not from a back up, but restore back to factory settings. set the device up as new. if you are still having the same issue, go to an apple store. you might have hardware damage

  • I have a problem my 5c phone erased itself

i have a problem my 5c phone erased itself and i dont know which apple id is linked to my phone because i use many apple id on this phone and i suggest that u should have an easy way to search id related to iphones such as the 1st 2or 3 digit of apple id and u should know that not everybody use iphone is genius or expert so the normal people use iphone and find theyself erasing it without having nobody to help them this is a one way ticket hoping that apple solve it or ask the users to vote if they are satisfied from this option

This is a user to user technical support forum. Apple is not here to talk to. One, the phone cannot erase itself. It can only respond to commands from the user. Second, if you are using multiple Apple IDs on a phone, you should have written something down, plus that is a terrible idea, as you can see from the issue that you are in here.
If you go to your own support profile page, you can see what serial number for devices that are registered to your particular Apple ID. While none of us can speak for Apple, I would venture to say do not expect them to change the access to devices after the implementation of Activation Lock.

  • How do i erase my base system? it is corrupt.

how do i erase my base system? it is corrupt.

    Any hoo...
It really doesn't matter what antivirus software you are running.
It is probably the antivirus software that is causing all your issues and corrupting your system and data.
OS X doesn't need or particularly like running third party antivirus programs.
Tthe antivirus programs can cause false info to be reported, antivirus conflicts with the way OS X handles viruses and Trojans and, typically, causes serious operational issues and slow downs with your Mac and OS X.
If your installed antivirus software has a dedicated uninstaller app, use it to completely uninstall the antivirus software from OS X.
    OS X doesn't need it.
One way to protect your Mac and system and personal info is to introduce a router between your iMac and your Internet connection.
The router acts and has its own firewall and allows OS X to operate normally without using OS X's own firewall capability as activating that has its own set of issues.
