Ical event invitation trouble

I realised that people whom i sent invitation to an event even on my Mac or my iPhone are not distributed to a gmail adress.
Is this a known limitation ?
It seems that others adress do not work. specialy with an alias on a domain.  Could it be a filter from icloud that is my main adress.
Thanks for your help

OK, I've discovered the 10.6 issue is a bug in Kerio Mail Server 6.7.2 and is scheduled to be fixed with the release of 6.7.3.
The 10.5 issue remains open.

  • Since upgrading to Lion, iCal event invitations are not working well.

Since upgrading to Lion last week, I am having problems with sending iCal event invitations to large groups of people (say 10 people or more). Although my iMac, iPhone, and iPad iCals show that invitations have been sent, only a few of those invited have actually received event invite emails.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any insight into the problem or solution?
    Thanks in advance.

    If you want.
or maybe install Snow Leopard using the disc it came on with my Mac and just set it up from a Time Machine Backup on my external hard drive (since it works under SL)?
Did you install Lion on an empty partition, or did you upgrade Snow Leopard?  If you upgraded, I'd not recommend erasing it, since your backups are apparently gone.  It's doubtful Snow Leopard will recognize them.
It's not just backups on the drive either, there are other important things on there, so why won't they show?
Mixing Time Machine backups and other data is not a good idea.  See #3 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  It sounds like the whole disk is corrupted.
I just really don't understand how this happened. Could it not be an issue with WD because they haven't issued firmware to support Lion yet?
If this is a simple external HD, connected by USB or FireWire, no, unless you installed some of WD's software on it.  That shouldn't prevent it from being seen at all, but anything's possible.

  • Not receiving email notifications of iCal event invitations from other parties.

I am not receiving emails for iCal event invitations from other parties, but the invitations ARE in my iCal Inbox. I don't use iCal often, so I never proactively go in to check my Inbox there, but rather have always depended on receiving the email notification of an event invite to know to add it to my iCal. I can SEND invitations to others successfully with other parties receiving MY email notifications, I'm just not receiving them via email.
I've now missed two very important meetings because I never received the email invitations to add an event, which were the only forms of correspondence for both. Can anyone help me? Thank you!

  • Changing ical "accepted:mailto:" in iCal event invitation

Recently I've noticed that iCal has been sending the iCal event invitation with the incorrect "accepted:mailto:" email address. By looking at the raw source of the sent message you can see where the email address goes to when the user accepts the meeting invite.
Is there any way to change this embedded email address? Where is iCal getting this address from?
    Thanks for the help,
    Michel

    Hi Guys,
I was able solve this problem by going into my addressbook, selecting preferences then "Template" and finally adding an extra email field to the template and setting the first email field to "home" and the second one to "work". Then closed the preferences and tested an iCal meeting invite. The reply accept email address now used my home email address.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I attach a document to an iCal event invitation?

I tried doing some research on this and tried the "Help" part of iCal.  The option given there said
Attach a file to an event
If you want to associate a particular file with an event (for example, a document you need to remember to take to an appointment), you can attach it directly to the event in iCal so it’s easy to remember and find when you need it. You can also share meeting materials with others by attaching them to event invitations.
In iCal, double-click the event. If the event editor isn’t open, click Edit to open it.Open iCal
Drag the file you want over the open event editor. You can also click Add File next to “attachments,” navigate to the file you want, and then click Open. The file appears in the “attachments” field.
If the “Allow Invitees to Manage Files” checkbox is available and you want to allow invitees to add or remove files from the event invitation, select the checkbox.Only the meeting organizer can select or deselect the checkbox.
To remove a file that you attached to an event, select it, and then press the Delete key.
To remove a file that you attached to an event, select it, and then press the Delete key.
iCal allows you to see a preview of any file attached to an event. To see a preview, select the file in the “attachments” field, and then press the Space bar. Click the Close (x) button in the top-left corner of the preview window to close it.
The problem is there is no Add File or attachments.  I am using the iCloud based iCal and running latest update on Lion.  Can anyone help me with this problem?

You need to start in the app that contains/owns the document, and then use that app to select the document and send/switch into the Mail app. You can't start in the Mail app as it doesn't have an attach facility

My husband is still on MobileMe. I am on iCloud. He sent me 2 calendar event invites. I got the email but they are not showing up in my calendar for me to accept. I don't see them on my iPhone, my iPad, my desktop, or iCloud.com. This used to work fine when we ere both on Mobile

    You.
To reply to this invitation, use Calendar on iPhone or iPod touch (with iOS4), iCal on a Mac (with Mac OS X 10.6.4), or visit

I have a very similar issue.
    Problem:
I cannot receive iCal invitations on my iPhone 4GS from other icloud users. I just receive an email with an .ics file, but not a nice red icon on my calendar in iOS.
I also cannot send an invitation to any other icloud user. (eg my wife)
    My setup:
iPhone 4GS with iCloud [email protected] address. iOS 5 - works perfect (Wife's iphone)
iPhone 4GS with iCloud [email protected] address. iOS 5 - NO Calendar inviations possible. (My iphone)
    Ruled out:
Hardware issue (tested) Its just my account that is not working.
    Possible issue:
AppleID error - My Apple ID seems to be corrupt. (whatever that means)
I believe strongly that this an issue at Apple. something with their mobileMe/iCloud sync.
    Status:
Since 2 weeks in contact with Apple Support, no solution yet.
They just let me do some tests that i already conducted before.

  • Outlook Users Can't Accept iCal event invites

Microsoft Outlook users can't accept my event invites from iCal.
I already searched through all the possible prefs and settings... at least I think I have.
    Can anyone help?
    THX!
    A.Che

To clarify this issue - (as I am having a similar issue)...
From iCal I can easily accept and respond to meeting requests sent to me from a person using Outlook 2003
The problem is the other way round - My meeting requests from iCal do not seem to be accepted by Outlook. I am generating an email that has a *.ics file extension and it is being sent via mail, but when the recipient (using Outlook 2003) receives the email, it is formatted as plain text and does not have a file attachment.
When that person forwards the message back to me, it DOES have the attachment still attached (which I can open on my own PC).
What is the trick to sending an iCal meeting request to an Outlook user so that they can add it to their calendar (and respond to the request)?? Apparently they receive a plain text email with an attachment that is named "Untitled Attachment" which is then empty (~200 bytes)
Here is a picture of what I am talking about (that they receive in Outlook):

    Hello jo ann51,
For correcting mail issues, I would recommend reviewing the following article. It contains helpful troubleshooting steps and information:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
    Try a different Wi-Fi connection
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.

  • ICal Event Invitations Not Appearing in iCal Notifications

When my wife sends me an iCal invitation from her iMac to my PowerPC Mac, the invitations arrive in my Mail inbox but not in my iCal Notifications.
My "Me" card lists my three email addresses.
My "General" Mail preference, 'Add invitations to iCal:', is "Automatically".
My "Advanced" iCal preference, 'Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail", is checked.
Any tips or suggestions? I seem to recall getting this to work by setting the Mail preference which automatically enables the iCal preference then manually disabling the iCal preference while ensuring the Mail preference is still set to Automatically but that's such a kludge.

figured it out. it was a time zone syncing problem.

  • ICal event invitation failures due to missing/malformed email addresses

These problems, although slightly different, appear in both 10.5.8 and 10.6.1. I don't see in the release notes that this was addressed in 10.6.2, but I have not installed it yet.
In 10.5.8, sometimes when a user is invited through the iCal invitation, an email is (attempted) to send with no email address in the to field; it's completely blank, and the mail server rejects it with a bounce message. Below is an example of the bounce message:

  • How to avoid opening mail when accepting iCal event invitation

Can someone tell me how I can prevent Mail to send a reply when I accept an invitation in iCal?
    This is very irritating.

    Hi Pascal,
I wrote iCal Reply Checker to help with this issue. It only works with local calendars though.

    Hello binbingogoABC,
Shopping on BestBuy.com should be easy and fun and not fraught with the kind of trouble that you describe. I regret very much that this has been your experience.
Using the information you provided when you signed up for Best Buy Unboxed I was able to locate your cancelled orders. I have requested more information from my back-office partners. As soon as I have additional details about your situation, I will reply again to this message. In the interim, I'm sorry that I must impose upon your patience.
I'm very grateful that you wrote to us with your concerns.

  • I can send event invitations from ical but can not receive them --invites go to another family member email

I am using Lion and everything was working fine -- until I got a new mac and set the older one up for my husband and put his user account on the old mac.
Now I can send ical invitations out and can get replies -- but if someone else originiates an invitation to me -- I don't get the invite on my new mac.  My husband gets it on the older mac I set up for him in his Ical.  We have totally different emails and when I click on the email name in the invite it is addressed to me and my email address but it comes on my husband's ical.
    I can't figure it out???
If I originate the event invite I have no problem getting the replies -- but when someone else originates the invite -- it comes on my husband's ical (with my name and email address)
Please help -- this is driving me crazy!!

Hello. Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I'm having the same one. My wife's iCal invitations are showing up in my iCal "Inbox" but are not coming to me via email. I discovered this while troubleshooting the issue just now...and saw that I had 10+ iCal invites for which I never received email notifications.
I never proactively check iCal, so definitely need to resolve this issue, as receiving emailed invitations is the only way they're filed into my iCal. Thanks for any insight!

  • ICal has problem receiving event invitation - not in the address book

My iCal has been working flawlessly for 4 months and then I started getting the error message in iCal that "There was an error receiving the event invitation" It says that the email address isn't in my address card, but I've checked and it is. I've tried adding and deleting the email address as well as deleting the address card, creating a new one, and designating it as me. It still gives that error, and this was all working previously. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I get these all the time, and have yet to figure out how to get them to add to my calendar.
I'm trying to figure out how to "open" it so I can see what the address conflict is. There appears to be no way to view the actual event, so I can see what address the event thinks is "missing.
I will keep trying to resolve this (what I call a bug) problem, and will reply here if I come up with something.
    Steve
