ICal Events Deleted, Don't Have MobileMe, Have TM Running, Help

Okay, so out of the blue I now only have this month's calendar events (Jan 11') in iCal. Everything else is GONE. Running iMac w/OS 10.5.8. iCal 3.0.8
I have several years worth of events that are now gone. I have not manually used the backup feature in iCal w/the logic being I have Time Machine doing that. I try to restore using Time Machine and I can't even figure out where the Calendar files are. Insanely unclear. I use an iPad as well and the Calendar events on that are gone too. I do not have anything checked in iCal preferences that says to delete events after a certain time period.
Reading through other post I see where everyone upgraded iCal in the fall. Don't know of that is the version I am running, but I do not use Mobile Me and that seems to be the issue in those post?
I have never used TM to restore anything. When I open it, it shows my desktop folders only. I was able to select my applications folder or documents folder, but cannot locate any files that have my iCal appointments. TM help is worthless. It states, "locate the file you would like to restore and click TM". Love to! Can't find the files either using TM or finder. If you don't manually backup iCal and create a folder/file is there no way of getting all your appointments back using Time Machine??
Any ideas greatly appreciated. Like everyone else, this is devastating. I thought I was protected by using TM on an external drive. Hope I am.
Thanks!

I am in the middle of something like this, tho I use Mobile Me. Suddenly, all my calendars were colored blue and many of my events were missing.
Thanks to another post, I found the backup calendars on my TM: my user library > calendars (this is a folder). I don't know whether they moved it there with Leopard or Snow Leopard, but if that folder isn't there, try: user library > application support > ical The other post mentioned using the Sources folder.
Oddly, I'd like to get rid of my old events. Do you know how to do that?

  • ICal events disappeared (not linked to MobileMe or iCloud)

    Hello,
    I run iCal 4.0.4 with MacOSX 10.6.8.
I recently noted that all events before 6 May 2011 have disappeared and I don't know why.
The preferences are not set with the 'Delete events ?? days after they have passed' (the box is not ticked).
I did a test yesterday looking if the events where disappearing but that is not the case, so this morning events after the 6 May 2011 still there.
My iCal is not linked to ModileMe or iCloud in any way.
Where are the events before 6 May have gone? Can I retrieve them? Would events continue to disappear?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

You need to ensure that each device (including the MBP) is using iCal from iCloud (NOT a local version of iCal).  Using the MBP as an example, click on the Calendars icon in the upper left corner and look for something similar to the following:
If it does not say ICLOUD at the top, there's your problem.  Post back and we'll go from there.

I noticed my ical events were not coming up on the computer and when I looked at the calendar on my phone the events were all gone. • Downloaded ical events deletes the previous event

I download ical events from a website regularly.  I get emails for different events as they are announced and I click the link to add to my calendar.  The problem is that when I download a new event, iCal deletes the previous event even though the events have different, titles, times, URLs, etc. I'd like to keep previous evens as a historical record.  Worst of all, events are being deleted before they even occur when I have multiple events scheduled closly.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hi,
I have a small application called Multi Event Filter available on the Mac App Store which creates Calendar events from text or spreadsheets.  While not really what it was designed to do, a side effect of Multi Effect Filter is that it retains the times entered for events in the titles.
You can find more ablout Multi Event Filter here.

  • ICal spam. How can I block ical invitations I don't want to have on my calendar.

An organization I used to belong keeps posting their events on my iCal. I have quit this organization and asked that they remove my email address. I don't get an option to accept or decline the invitation. It just populates on my iCal. How do I stop or block this? thanks for any help.

    Linda,
Open Mail, select Mail>Preferences>General>Add invitations to Calendar>"Never"

  • ICal-all events deleted and won't let me add new HELP!!

    Hi there,
Recently I started my iCal and all my entries were gone. Not only that, but it won't let me add new entries no matter what I do. As well, my to do list on the right is blank and the space on the left where my calendars were listed before is also blank. If I go into my computer I can find the files from iCal with the information but they aren't showing up in iCal itself.
    HELP!!
    Thanks

    klgreene595,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    1. Can you associate this behavior with anything that you recently installed on your computer?
    2. Are you using MobileMe, or any other sync software?
    3. Do you have any backups such as Time Machine, or an iCal archive?
    4. What calendars do you have listed in your sources pane?
    5. Have you subscribed to any calendars?
    6. Do you have an iPad or iPhone?
    7. Where have you found the iCal files on your computer?
    8. Have you attempted to repair disk permissions?
    9. Try refreshing the iCal plist file. You will find the "com.apple.iCal.plist" file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, and drag the .plist file to your Desktop. Then log out/in or restart.

  • Ical event restoration

I lost my iCal events and don't know how to restore them.  Time Machine dosen't work on iCal.
Anyone know an easy (I hhope) way to solve this problem?

    YES! it worked.
I went through all my font in the Font Book application and deleted all duplicate fonts, and put all my user fonts into the systems folder and then disabled and deleted all the duplicates again.
Now my iCal event titles are editable!!!
    Thank you.

  • I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS5 and let it sync with my Macbook and now all my iPhone iCal entries are gone. How can I get my iCal events back on my iPhone?

    Me too!  Help anyone?

  • Why have deleted iCal events suddenly reappeared in my calender?

Assistance needed please for an iCal issue on Snow Leopard (iMac).
A bunch of formerly deleted iCal events have suddenly reappeared in iCal. I thought this would be easily resolved by using Time Machine (external HD) to restore the calendar files to when they were workings ok (a couple of days ago). Although this initially appeared to work, all the previously deleted events have suddenly reappeared.
If I was using iCloud I'd assume it was some kind of syncing issue, but I'm not. Least I can rule that out.

    Cactus,

  • I have my icals events duplicating due to Icloud and Mobileme.  How do I remove mobileme from my mac?

I can turn the cals off but I think I just want them gone. How do I remove mobileme from my mac?  Or do I?

On your Macs, open System Preferences. If you don't see MobileMe but you do see iCloud under Internet & Wireless then everything is syncing via iCloud not MobileMe.
Try this on your Macs...  Deselect Calendars in System Preferences > iCloud then reselect that box then restart your Macs.
See if that prevents the duplicates.

  • In setting up ICloud on my new Iphone 4s, I lost most of my calendar events in my Outlook 7 calendar.  I used to have MobileMe but in the set-up process was told to turn that off which I did but now most of my calendar events have disappeared

In setting up ICloud on my new Iphone 4s, I lost most of my calendar events in my Outlook 7 calendar in my Vista PC.  I used to have MobileMe but in the set-up process was told to turn that off, which I did but now most of my calendar events have disappeared after syncing with ICloud.  How can I get my missing calendar events back?  They are still on my 3Gs Iphone which I have not yet updated to IOS5.
    Thanks for any help.

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • Why aren't invitees to an ical event auto adding from my address book - I have to add manually?

HI, When I add invtees to an event in ical, it only adds from a the list of people previously added to an event rather than accessing my whole address book.  I have to manually add their emails?  Drives me nuts.

I just figured out how to add the invitee option to your iphone 4 without using Exchange!
    -You must have Mobileme
-Download the most recent upgrades for apple for your iphone & computer/laptop
-Login to your Mobileme account online
-download the new Beta version of the mobileme calendar
...allow the few minutes for everything to update and poof! you should have the invitees & availability option on your iphone 4! oh thank heaven!

  • How do I delete stored email addresses in my iphone? When sending photos, I don't want to have certain email addresses  "popping up" from the internal memory, I've deleted my entire "Contact" list but they still appear.  Help please!

How do I delete stored email addresses in my iphone? When sending photos, I don't want to have certain email addresses  "popping up" from the internal memory, I've deleted my entire "Contact" list but they still appear.  Help please!

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.
