ICal events duplicated, missing in iPhoto calendar

It's that time of year again, when I make my annual calendar. Only this year it isn't going smoothly.
When I go to the calendar settings and choose which iCal events I want, I'm getting all sorts of strange behavior.
Items from two calendars for the same day won't both appear on the calendar. I want to add a July 4 birthday, but I can get either Independence Day or the birthday, not both.
As I added calendars, sometimes events already listed became duplicated or triplicated (not with US Holidays, but other calendars).
Is anyone else having this problem and more importantly, does any one have a solution.
Calendar ordering time is fast upon us. One of the things that makes an iPhoto calendar worth the extra bucks is that it has all the dates I want on it. Help!

ICal events importing incorrectly in iPhoto Calendar Project

I am trying to import my calendars from iCal into my Calendar project in iPhoto 11. There seems to be at least two problems with this feature:
1) If a national holiday (USA) occurs on the same date as one of my events, my event will be removed from the calendar in iPhoto. For example Washington's Birthday shows up on February 22, 2011 which happens to be the same day as my Aunt's birthday. If I have the national holidays turned on my Aunt's birthday is removed. If I turn off the national holidays my Aunt's birthday shows up again.
2) Some of my events are showing up on the wrong day. For example my niece's birthday is on the 13th of March. This happens to be the same day as when Daylight Savings Time Begins. If holidays are turned on my niece's birthday shows up on the 14th of March. If I have holidays turned off my niece's birthday shows up on both the 13th and the 14th of March.
I remember having issue two happen to me in iPhoto09 as well. I have re-imported my dates now several times. I have quit both the iCal and iPhoto applications as well. I have even tried restarting my mac with no success. Does anyone know how to fix this or know if there is a software update coming out soon to fix this issue?

ICal events are missing Day and Month in date

Hello, Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere - this is such a weird fault I was not sure how to search for it.
My iCal events are missing the Day and Month in their start and end dates - it just shows a 4 digit year which can only be edited as a 4 digit number. All my events are in their correct places but I am unable to create new multiday events.
This applies to old and new events alike. I tried trashing my iCal prefs file but it made no difference.
Anyone any ideas? I am using iCal 3.0.8 on Leopard 10.5.8.

Worked it out - I was using a custom date format to give me day and date in the menu bar - reverting to one of the standard built in 'British' works - but then I lose my day in the menu bar....

I thought that was the case. I'm happy enough syncing Entourage to my iPhone. The last update to Entourage actually fixed that. I was just curious if the Entourage calendar in iCal would appear in the iCloud via iCal. Obviously it doesn't unless you want to "force" the issue. Thanks for taking the time. Bill

ICal Events not showing in Outlook Calendar

I'm new to iCal. My Mail and iCal are now synched up with my work's Outlook Exchange.
The problem: My events entered in Outlook's Calendar ARE showing up in my iCal, but events entered in iCal ARE NOT showing up in my Outlook Calendar.
Whither wrong am I going?

ICal Events Duplicating with iCloud

I'm using iCloud to sync between my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro. I noticed today that on the iCloud website, and on my devices that all past calendar events (up to the date I started using iCloud) are triplicated - there are three of each event (I assume one event was uploaded to the cloud from each of my devices, then pushed down to the others). Is there any easy way to go back and remove the duplicates?
It doesn't really matter, since these are all past events, but I still like to have an accurate record of my past calendars. Thanks!

I too found this and did the following.
Login to iCloud and open the calendar. Now uncheck / highlight the duplicate entries and delete, if you also have your iPhone calendar open while you do this you will see if you are deleting the right ones because the events will disappear form its calendar.
Once done log out of iCloud and open iTunes, plug in the iPhone and click theinfo tab then uncheck calendars from syncing. Now click apply and sync the phone. When done open iCal on your Mac and iPad all should be good.
Also make sure you haveno duplicate account in iCal > Preferance > Accounts.

Calendar events duplicated to a different calendar

Hi,
I'm experiencing a strange issue which occurred only today. I have several calendars, all events from one calendar has duplicated to a different calendar category. This has occured across 5 iPhones / iPads and also on my iMac. When I login to iCloud online the duplications aren't there. I've tried switching off iCloud calendar from each device and deleting all events. When I switch on iCloud calendar, I get the same duplicated events. I can't understand how or why it happened. Anyone experience the same issue?

Currently there's no such method to make the event sent to new members automatically.
We need to send the event at regular intervals, choose Send updates only to added or deleted attendees when sending update.

Another instance of severe new problem in iCal - events duplicated infinite

This is like other posted problems. I just went Leopard - Snow Leopard. Have used iCal for years and consider myself experienced. On my first attempt to add a repeating event following the OS upgrade, the repeating event was duplicated hundreds perhaps thousands of times before I even completed the entry in the popup dialog. As you all know, that dialog does not allow cancel or delete. The event is duplicated multiple times in the same day. It seems to have no termination date. It cannot be selected in order to delete it. The color is even a pastel shade of the group color that it was supposed to have.
I have turned off iSync and hope that I can remove theses ridiculous events before they spread to every Mac and Ipod.
I cannot find a database to delete or I'd delete it and try to resync from me.com.
Help, Apple -- we need your attention on this one. It is definitely a **** up in iCal.

O.k. - I am not experienced in spite of many years of using this turkey. First of, the sync/don't sync button in preferences - forget it. iCal syncs with MobileMe no matter what the setting. Bummer - except that once the hundreds of duplicate, repeat events are transfered to MobileMe, you can delete them from the web interface - unlike the iCal application that forbids deleting unwanted events.
Second new discovery. You can put in a repeated event on the MobileMe website with no trouble but, bummer again, the new event on MobileMe does not sync back to the iCal on the iMac.
Final and most important discovery. I got the problem in the first place by blindly supplying the information asked for and, I kid you not, iCal 4 asks for the end date of a repeated event twice. If you answer the question twice, as I did, you get N * N events. So I hope I can avoid the problem in the future. But really, iCal needs methods to delete repeated events. Also as a former long-term Palm user, I sorely miss the option to restore a calendar from another machine. (the ability to sync or overwrite the local application).

Contact info and iCal events gone missing

A few weeks ago, I entered an Calendar event with an alarm on my iPhone to remind me of a meeting later that day. A while later, I was looking though Calendar and realized this new event was gone, so I re-entered it, made sure it was correct, closed Calendar and re-opened it, double checked and it was still there. An hour later, it had disappeared again.
I use MobileME to sync all my iPhone data. I sync my iMac too, but it was in my office turned off. Since then I realized that a number of events that were entered on my iPhone have gone missing ... but not all of them. Software versions on my iPhone 3G, iMac, et al are all current.
To make matters appear worse, now that I'm paying closer attention to synched data, I realize that some (again not all) Contact information entered on the iPhone is also being lost. Its annoying when its just a special ringtone (I know these can get reset) but its actually harmful when its a new phone number that gets overwritten with the old one and you don't realize it until its gone.
I have turned off all syncing between MobileME and the iMac ... that did NOT fix the problem, plus its a pain in the *. But it does demonstrate that its most likely a problem between MobileME and the iPhone. I've been patient with all the MobileME "teething problems" esp as long as Apple was demonstrating its duty of care to fix things. But now I'm back to paying for my service, and it doesn't seem to work as advertised!!
Any suggestions how I can regain confidence that the information I load into my iPhone will still be there at the end of the day?

I just had the opposite problem. Synced my iPhone 3G to iTunes (current versions) and ALL contacts from my Address Book on my computer disappeared. iCal was OK. I do not sync contacts or calendars wirelessly. Chat help assisted me in restoring an old .Mac copy to my computer, but my confidence in syncing is LOW. Chat help seemed to suspect iTunes or the iPhone. Ironically, dependable contact and calendar syncing was the main reason I bought an iPhone.
Short term I'll be backing up my Address Book (File > Backup) and Calendar right before doing ANY syncing, iPhone or .Mac/MobileMe. I'm a 20 year Win pro who switched to Mac/OSX about 7 years ago, and this has been my first time feeling a little "micro-softy".

Ical events duplicated a zillion times since security update. Isync hangs

I switched to Entourage for mail because there were too many bugs in imail. However i prefer using ical for my appointments etc. so I sync them all. When I first got my Sony Ericsson K800i, I had to purchase a 3rd party app in order to use it with iSync. It worked perfectly. Somewhere along the line isync included the K800i in its compatible devices. That is where all the trouble started . . .
Certain, seemingly random, appointments in my ical/entourage calenders would get duplicated hundreds of times. My phone couldn't synchronise because it said its calender was full. This was entirely because of the erroneously duplicated events. I experimented with a bunch of settings to no avail. Several security updates later, the problem seemed to be sorted. But after the last update it is worse than ever. When I open isync, it just says "refreshing contact groups and calendar information" forever. If I click on "sync" it just hangs. If I try and click on one of the culprit days on my calender (like january 25th which I know has a multitude of duplicated items), ical just hangs with the beachball of doom. So I can't even go in there and manually delete the duplicated items (which took me ages last time).
Help! I depend on having my appointments and stuff on my phone. Not being able to synchronise is driving me crazy!!

Having the same problems where the UI elements are missing in the layout screen.
using the Show/Hide layout Preview Button I get an Program cannot display the web page.
The server is on a different box . Tried running the sapgui from a vista machine and a xp machine and they both have the same problem.
If I run Sapgui on the server box the Show/Hide layout Preview Button does show a subset on the ui elements but not all the examples described in the "ABAP Trial Version for Newbies: Part 18 - Starting with Web Dynpro for ABAP"

ApplesScript needed to copy iCal event and move into different calendar

I hope someone can help with this request.
For starters, I'm clueless on AppleScript and don't have the time or energy to learn it.
I am looking for a script that will copy an event in one calendar and move it to my CalDav (Google) calendar - which I intend using as my primary calendar going forward.
My techie friends give me strange looks when I explain how I came to this situation: I have to accept Outlook meeting invitations in Entourage to avoid the problem of events showing up 2 hours early (or late - can't remember which) in iCal. I have iCal and Entourage synced, with the events being pushed to iCal in a calendar named 'Entourage'.
I would like any 'Entourage' events to be copied and moved to my Google calendar, after which it syncs with the cloud.
Any assistance or advice?

There's a strong element of irony in coming across a solution after doing a search on 'Entourage' and 'Google Calendar' syncing.

The nice thing is you can choose which of your iCal calendars to sync.
I use Entourage to accept meeting requests - iCal used to have trouble with time zones in meeting requests sent from Outlook - so have used the work-around of accepting in Entourage, and syncing it with iCal. This syncing process creates a separate calendar in iCal.
In theory, I could simply use that as my primary calendar - which I haven't thus far, but may well do.
As the synched Google Calendar shows up in iCal, you do end up with duplications showing if you have all calendars visible. So all I've done is hide the visibility of the Entourage calendar (and my other calendars) so that all I see is my GCal.
It's a little clumsy, I'll admit, but it does the job. Which is all a little too Microsoft-ish for my liking

"events" is missing from iPhoto source list / left-hand menu

The "events" menu option is suddenly missing from the left-hand side menu of my iPhoto library. See screenshot:
Photos, Faces, Places, but no Events! It used to be there and now it's not, not sure what happened. When I open a different iPhoto library it is there, so it seems like a problem with my iPhoto library? I tried rebuilding the iPhoto database and that didn't fix it. The event data still seems to be there, when I browse the photos view pictures are still grouped by events. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm using iPhoto v 9.6 on Yosemite. Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

Ical events duplicated on ipod touch 4g so I deleted them, and now they do not appear anywhere except on the iPod. I have mobile me set up to sync and OS10.6.8 on the MBpro

Can I get these events back in iCal or do I have to re enter them? Is there a way to 'revert'? How do I get the ipod calendar to not duplicate events?
Set up my semester's schedule for the university where I teach and now it's all blank on the mobileme and ical calendars on computers.

should clarify that I deleted duplicate events on the ipod so that should have left one in ical. there is still one listed in ical on the ipod but not on the computer, so deleting duplicate entry deleted it entirely from my ical on computer and mobile me. no icloud yet

My ICal app on the iTouch seems to have "lost" all events but the past two months. The iCal on my Powerbook has all the events. I synch through mobile.me Does anyone have an idea what I can do to make sure all my events are on the iTouch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
