ICal Events Vanished - Cannot Quit iCal

I loaded up iCal today and all of my events had disappeared. I can click forward and backward in time, and still, nothing. The mini-calendar in the lower left shows January 2001. There are no calendars on the left, even though I have five or six. When I try to quit iCal the program just hangs, and I have to force quit the software.
Reminders are still popping up, and my iPhone still has the events, so I think they're there, but not visible... Or something.
I've tried grabbing the calendar folder via Time Machine from a week ago, but it didn't improve. I've resynched with the iPhone, but again, no events.
How can I get my calendars back, any suggestions?

Same story here, though not on all of our machines. The problem affects a MacBook Pro syncing iCal via mobileme. The following procedure did not fix:
delete ical.app
reboot
empty trash for good measure
install ical from optional installs - should say that it is going to install rather than upgrade
reboot for good measure
The console shows this error repeatedly:
iCal[179] *Assertion failure in -[CoreTask OutlineView _uncachedRectHeightOfRow:], /SourceCache/AppKit/AppKit-949.43/TableView.subproj/NSTableView.m:1574
iCal[179] rowHeight must be > 0
iCal[179] rowHeight must be > 0
Tried changing /Library/Caches/Metadata/iCal to NOT.iCal in case cached data was the problem. No luck. Same with /Users/$USER/Library/Caches/com.apple.ical.
I then moved /Users/$USER/Library/Calendars to NOT.Calendars. After doing that, iCal "upgraded calendars", resync'd (sanc?) with mobileme, and worked.
Of the log file entries that went by during the last step, the following seemed interesting, though might not be related as they seem more to do with sync:
iCalExternalSync[547] Lock Contention on CalendarStore Initialization
(lots of Failed to look up record with Id: blahblahblah)
ConflictResolver[556] Ignoring exception NSObjectNotAvailableException trying to remove lock file: Can't remove existing lock for /Users/$USER/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local/conflicts

  • I cannot quit Mail

Whenever I quit Mail it starts back up on it's own within about 15 seconds. That, coupled with major problems importing old calendars into iCal is making me think that Leopard is an operating system Microsoft would be proud of.

Like others, I had a problem with mail in Leopard in that I cannot quit the Mail app so I always had to Force Quit. Although it did not seem to do any damage, I was not pleased with this method.
I found a solution though. Make a copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder (on your desktop or on an external drive). Then delete ~/Library/Mail folder, log out, log back in. Start Mail app and it should prompt you to set up your account. If you have an IMAP account, the server should recreate your mailboxes although it may take a few minutes.
After doing this, I can now Quit from Mail app without any problem in Leopard.

This error keeps cropping up now and again on most of our domain controllers (OS-2008 AND 2008R2)...Usually a restart fixes the issue however the issue repeats and security logs don't generate.
Any advice on how to fix this issue permanently would be greatly appreciated.

  • I AM USING SAFARI 5.1.10.  Cannot quit safari application.  Quit option is "grayed out" on menu.

Cannot quit safari 5.1.10.  Quit option is grayed out on the menu.  Any idea why this happening?

Press Command + Option + Esc on your keyboard to force quit Safari.
If that doesn't work, use the Activity Monitor as noted here >  OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
It may be due to malware, or incompatible Safari extensions or plug-ins.

  • Firefox completely unresponsive - cannot Quit, use Safe Mode, Reinstall OR Uninstall

I installed Firefox less than a month ago. Two days ago it suddenly quit while browsing. This didn't seem like a problem, really - I thought I'd just restart it - but it REMAINS open. The icon shows in my dock (on Mac) and the menu bar appears when I click the icon. I can browse menu selections but cannot choose one.
    I CANNOT:
    - Quit Firefox - either from the menu or with Ctrl+Q
    - Open New Window
    - Open Help
    - Access "Troubleshooting Information"
    - Select "Restart with Add-Ons Disabled..."
    - Use Safe Mode
Because I cannot use Safe Mode, and cannot Quit the program, I CANNOT:
    - Uninstall (it refuses to delete, because the program is "open," as it won't quit)
    - Reinstall (I cannot override the existing because the program is "open")
    - Remove it from my Dock
    - ...pretty much anything else.
I've read many articles discussing Troubleshooting, Safe Mode, Clean Reinstalls, etc., but unfortunately I cannot do any of these because Firefox remains open but completely unresponsive.
(PS - I tried to install the Troubleshooting Information below, but, again, because Firefox is unresponsive, I couldn't open it lol - there was "no available application" to read it. I cannot go through the manual steps because I cannot access the Troubleshooting Information on the Help menu and so cannot even begin step 1.)
If anyone has any suggestions, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thank you very much for your time and help!

If qutting it is cause issues try holding the option key while you click the icon on the dock and choose force quit from the list!
Also have you tired the Rest fire fox feature (that is if your able to get to it)
    To do so:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

You'll have to upgrade your operating system first.
Most, if not all, Cloud apps require at least OS X 10.7.

  • Additional sounds download did not complete, cannot quit Garageband

    Hello all,
I initiated the download for the extra sounds last night, and a separate window with my download progress popped up saying it would take about 4 hours. I left my computer on, went to bed, and checked for progress this morning. The progress window is nowhere to be found (already tried to bring all windows to front), some sounds are still greyed out, and I cannot quit GarageBand (GarageBand>Quit GarageBand is greyed out, as if the download is still in progress). Does anyone have any ideas how I can resume the download?
    Thanks!

    Hey there gww490,
It sounds like Garageband is not allowing you to quit it, and your sounds still aren't completely downloaded. I would start by force quitting the Garagaband application:
OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3411
Switch to another app, such as the Finder, then choose Force Quit from the Apple menu. Select the unresponsive app in the Force Quit window, and click Force Quit.
Press Command-Option-Esc, then select the unresponsive app from the Force Quit window that appears, and click Force Quit.
Then restart your computer and try again.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

Well this could be happening for a couple o reasons....
I would suggest force quoting any open applications and attempting then.
If that doesn't work create another user account and see if ut happens there too ( if it does then it's a system issue not user specific )
If it is user specific delete the com.apple.finder.plist and see if that helps.
I hope that this helps and I hope you can post your results

Event is not created for this event package and i wander this is new function in EP3 that i have to override
    or just program error.
    regards,

    Jin dal,
System is using view table V_PIQMODBOOKED to check no of booking.
Check is there any active booking record exists for that event package? Which make sense because first you build event plan (event and event package) then you allow students to book.
