Ical events wrong times

I have finally a reason to start using ical but i am having nothing but issues.
For instance today i got an email stating a meeting from 11.00 to 14.30
I select it as its blue and create event pops up, it shows in that pop up box the correct start and end time.
However in ical its been put in between 6.00 am to 9.30am fully four hours earlier.
My time zone is correct, and the reality is i need to trust this software, and its not filling me with confindence.
Any ideas?

You may have already checked this but there are 2 places that you need to make sure you have the time zone set.  The first is the time zone for the clock on the iPad (Settings>General>Date & Time>Time Zone) and the second is (Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Time Zone Support).  If one of these is set incorrectly it can lead to what you are seeing.
Good Luck

  • Found iCal events in Time Machine.  Now Lion only allowing me to import one event at a time.

Upgrade my macbook pro over the weekend to Snow Leopard and then Lion.   I lost all my the majority of my iCal events.   Went to Apple store and they said that was rare and not sure how to restore my last back up from Time Machine on an external drive.   I've been spending hours trying to go through a bunch of threads on different MAC formums.
So I finally found my iCal events in Time Machine.   When I try to import these events, I am only allowed to highlight/import one event at a time.   This will take me forever to import years of missing data.   I basically have been using my iCal to journal for my 3 small daughters - first tooth, hair cut, etc.   So I am desperate to get these events back so I can get them printed and SAFE.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to import my ics files?   The Apple Store Genius had me tryng to import the corestorage.ics files.   2 or 3 of those files showed they were trying to be imported for over 4 hours.   I finally Forced Quit iCal.   I've tried this several times and same result.
The corestorage files were under user/library/application support/ical/sources
I now located the calendar events user/library/calendars/ then a bunch of coded files leading to the events.  These events appear to be the ones I am looking for as I can read some of the files.   I have several years I want to import back into my working iCal.
Please help if you know how!!!
    Thank you,
Very Upset Mama of 3 little girls

Thomas - You are awesome - THANK YOU!
I did exactly what you said (CAN"T believe an Apple Genius did not know this) and I think all of my events got restored.
However, it duplicated all of the calendars - I have 6 (one for each family member plus an extra called home that we all have to do).   Not sure if I did something wrong, but do you have any ideas?
Also, the time setting must be wrong b/c I have events from 2008 showing up in 2012 - same day and time as the old sessoin - just out dated.    Do I need to manually change all of this?   Should I delete the Calendars folder again and try again?
Also, I read some where about deleting a iCal cache file.   Do I need to do this?
I TRULY appreciate you taking the time to help people in this forum.   I have spent hours the past two days trying to figure this out.   Plus, now I need to figure out about upgrading my Office for Mac b/c I didn't realize I lost Office 2004 when upgrading to Lion.
Thank you for your time and support!

  • ICal events and time zone change

Has anyone scoped out what happens to iCal events when your MBP moves between time zones and automatically changes the date and time settings? In general, I'd like my calendar events to be fixed at the time in the time zone where they are supposed to occur, and not where the MBP is, but of course I'd like the MBP to be telling me the time where it actually is. I don't think iCal does it this way, but I'm not sure how it handles time differences. Anybody know?

In iCal preferences, there is a check box for "turn on time zone support." If you leave it unchecked, iCal will automatically adjust to your current time zone and move the events forward/back by the appropriate number of hours. If you check "turn on time zone support" a drop-down menu will appear at the upper right of the iCal page allowing you to select the time zone you wish to view. In this mode, iCal does not automatically move the events unless you select a new time zone manually. Does that make sense?

  • Restoring iCal Events from Time Machine

    Hi
I read a few threads that were related to my question, but it was more from moving over files from different versions of the operating software. Here is my dilemma:
Somehow I erased all my iCal events. They were syncing with Entourage. I went into iCal because I had some duplicates and deleted event duplicates, when I did that I somehow deleted all my events. I do have time machine and have a back up of iCal. I restored the program from Time Machine, but the events are not back. I suspect that I need to restore the actual files that must be kept in a database somewhere?
Will someone please tell me how to restore the actual events and where exactly I can find the iCal events data. My plan is that once I restore iCal I will export and import into Entourage.
I really do not want to lose all my events. Thank you in advance for your help!

    HELP! Please.
I am a new iMac user. For weeks, the system ran perfect. This morning, I tried to synch my iCal with Google Calendar to let others have access to my events. Somehow, after the sync, all events at my iCal suddenly disappeared. Not just that, the list of calendars (private, business, etc.) was gone too. I then tried to synch iCal with all the events stored in my iPhone, but that only lead to my iPhone calendar being completely deleted too. I am totally desparate now. What happened? I then tried to use Time Machine to restore. But in earlier time machine dates, there was no calendar folder which I could use to replace mine. But I could not find a calendar folder there. Thank you for helping. Kind regards from Munich, Germany.

Sync'ed my iphone. Calendar events displayed on iPhone have incorrect times. Don't see a pattern in the appt time shifts.

turn off timezone support under date and time and see if it helps

  • Restore specific deleted iCal events from time machine

    Hi,
I had put some events into iCal on my iPhone in early August.  My Calendar syncs with an exchange server.  The events were at first in all the calendars that were attached to the exchange account.  Now some of these events are gone or updates to the events are gone.  I was wondering if I could only restore these missing events from the time machine?  I have an iMac 27" from 2012 with a time machine attached to it.
    Thanks

Sorry but albums can not be restored - and you can not select them in the show package contents display - albums are simply entries in the iPhoto database and have no physical presence
Additionally showing package contents and entering the iPhoto library is extremely dangerous and a tiny user error can destroy the library and cause dataloss  --  it is strongly recommended to never go into the inside of the iPhoto library and there never is a reason t do so
What you are doing is restoring the originals from an event losing any modifications and any metadata editing
And you are breaking a cardinal rule by making changes to the content of the iPhoto library using something other than iPhoto which will not work - photos muct be imported into iPhoto, not saved into its database
But the biggest problem with the OP's plan is that Time Machine is NOT an archival system but a backup system and eventually it will remove the oldest files so sooner or later the OP would lose their photos that had not been restored

Agreed to a large extent, but I don't have anything in the Modified folder to try.
My albums appear in originals as folders. But as you say, they are the raw imports.
As to the wisdom of the procedure; it worked, and I was slightly surprised it did from within a package, but i accept your overall premise.

  • ICal Syncing Wrong Times with Ipod Touch or iPhone - Everything 2 Hours Off

Every setting is uniform across all devices (timezones, etc) and yet iCal on my iPod touch or iPhone lists my scheduled events 2 hours earlier than what I inputed on my computer. The iCal calendar on Snow Leopard is correct, but my synced devices are not.
What gives? This is a HUUUGEEE issue for someone that uses their schedule book to get through each day. iCal is TOTALLY UNRELIABLE with this issue.

I have almost exactly the same problem. The ical on my macbook has the correct times, but on my ipod touch all events appear one hour earlier. Both devices are set to Geneva time, and the time displayed on them is the same.
This is really annoying as I am about to set off travelling, and was just going to take my touch for schedule - now I either have to pack my macbook or do everything the good old fashioned pen and paper way.
    Can anyone help?

  • Restore ical events WITHOUT time machine

So I just got my new iphone and was trying to link it to icloud, the problem is that my macbook air is not linked to icloud. So when I tried to setup icloud on my macbook, it erased all my calender events on my macbook.
I don't have time machine. Is there anyway to get those calender events back?

  • HT201250 Is there any way to do a search iCal events in Time Machine backups using keywords?

Is there any way to actually look at what was in my iCal calendar, in calendar view, at the point in time of one of my previous backups?
And if not, is there any way to search the iCal backup files to find the ones with certain entries?
For example, I wanted to find all entries starting with Dr C, but the way the calender entries are listed in each "Events" folder they don't appear to be searchable.  And scrolling through them is very cumbersome, especially since the calendars are identified by numbers, not names...
Any help that makes this easier will be much appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

The only way to do that would be to restore the whole Calendar database from a snapshot taken on that day.

  • ICal has wrong times after DST update

I updated Sat and for the three weeks all the appointments I had previously entered in my iCal calendar between Mar 11 and April 1 were shifted 1 hour later. Any new appointmets (entered after update) were entered at the proper time.
How can I get the previously enterd appointments scheduled properly?

Apple sent out a daylight savings time update on Feb 21 which had a flaw in it. Apple created this update to address the fact that daylight savings time was changed from the first Sunday in April to March 11. Unfortunately, now all events between those dates are messed up by 1 hr. I called Apple's help line and they told me they would pass it on the software engineers. don't expect them to fix it. They problem with changing all you dates is that recurring dates don't go back after April 1. You are better off remembering that all times are off 1 hour between March 11 and April 1 and adjust them in your head. Doesn't help with reminders however.
Its too bad they can't (or are unwilling to) fix it. I'm trying to find a way to delete the update without reinstalling everything. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Ical event details time different that display time

For some odd reason the event details of any event on any of my ical calendars comes in one hour earlier than the time listed as the start time "today", "list", "day" or "month" listing of events.  Only when I go to the event details of any given particular event do I see it listed as having a start and end time exactly one hour before the time the time given in any other part of the ical software.  huh?  I've gone through all the drama of time zone shifts and timei zone support, so I don't think that is the issue.  This is a just the difference between it saying my meeting starts at 3 (which it does) everyone except on the detail for that particular meeting which shows it starting at 2.  uhg.  Can someone help?
    Thanks

Welcome to the forums, Leslie. Do you mean in Month view? I haven't found a way to show end time in Month view, but it shows automatically in Day and Week views.

  • ICal event times not in sync

Maybe this has been answered but I couldn't find anything on a search...
so my iCal on my computer and my iPhone iCal aren't syncing event times correctly. For instance I'll have an event on computer iCal at say, Friday 1pm but on iPhone iCal it says 6pm. All of the events have the wrong times on the iPhone.
I've reset my iSync history and that did not fix the problem. I've "Replaced information on this iPhone" and that didn't work either. Currently I sync my Entourage calendar to iCal and that works fine. But again when I then sync iCal to my iPhone it screws up all of the dates.
    Any ideas why?

figured it out. it was a time zone syncing problem.

  • Some events appear at wrong time when publishing to web

When I publish my calendar and then view it on the web, events I have created myself in iCal are shown at the correct time, but any events I have recieved from Evolution (the email/calendar application my colleagues use) as an .ics file are shown exactly 8 hours later than they should be. Perhaps it's a coincidence that this is the exact time difference between the UK (where I live and work) and West Coast USA?
Just to make it clear: all events appear correctly in iCal and, if I send a subscribe email to myself and then subscribe to the published calendar, they also appear correctly in iCal. The only place where they appear at the wrong times is in the http://ical.mac.com/<username>/<calendarname> address, and it's only events that I have recieved via email.
Is there a workaround for this that doesn't involve asking my colleagues to change settings on their Ubuntu workstations? Perhaps it's a problem with Apple's ical website that they need to fix? Either way, it makes the business of publishing my calendars largely useless.

    Bernard Harte wrote:
It's likely that the problem is due to an incompatibility between the way that the two systems define time zones.
This is what I thought, but iCal itself seems to cope with this, whereas the .Mac iCal web server doesn't, which is a shame.
I suspect that you don't have time zone support switched on in the Advanced tab of Preferences. If you don't, try switching it on and then looking at one of your events and one of the rogue ones in the edit window. You'll probably see a difference in time zones - i.e. that the rogue ones are in US Pacific zone.
I switched on time zone support, but it didn't change any of the events in iCal at all; i.e., the "rogue" events still show at the correct time (and the incorrect time on the iCal web server).
If this guess is correct, you will need to get your colleagues to change their time zone since iCal and ical.mac.com are behaving as they should.
They are all on the same timezone as me - Europe/London (which is currently on DST).
If the guess isn't correct, report back and we'll work on a solution
Then I look forward to hearing from you!

  • My iCloud iCal shows up a wrong time

My iCloud iCal shows up a wrong time on the left side (in the Week-Mode) - but when I click on a event, the time i right!
The problem is the actual time - that shows up is 9 hours back (11 am - in fact 8 pm)
    Please help me!
    Thanks

The problem here is iCloud. The timezones are not correct. For example for Buenos Aires, Argentina the timezone have one our shift then the correct time. For other zones the timezone is really bad.
Apple, can you please fix this bug?

  • ICal doesn't open files (my own music files) when an event's time arrives.

Hi apple community, I have a problem. I use to remember things by creating events in iCal with a music file added, but now I can´t, I have updated my iMac to Mavericks and iCal only remembers me an event but doesn't open the songs (with iTunes). (Some times I use events with music files to wake me up jejeje). How can I solve it? Thanks.

I'd like to comment too here. I used to wake up all the time to music played in iCal, and before 10.8, I also used Applescript iCal events (all of this on my late 2011 Macbook Pro) in place of automator workflows. Since updating, my alarms simply haven't gone off, iCal not opening iTunes the way it should. I would be eager to find a solution.
