Ical export 1 calendar

Hi,
Is it possible to export 1 calendar to an ics file ? Now I only see the option to export all calendars in iCal to an archive as backup file.
or is there another option to save just all the data from 1 calendar to an ics file ?
Jay

Hi Jay,
select the calendar, you want to export.
Just above the archive option, there should be an export option in the menu, this is meant for single
calendars as ics.

  • How do I export every calendar in my iCal to an ics file?

I am trying to export all my calendars from iCal to ane  ics file.  It is exporting calendar events that i have been invited to by others but is not exporting any calendar events that I have created myself.  Please help.  I have gone in and done the select all with the same results.

You can use the Password Exporter extension to export and backup the Firefox passwords, but you won't be able to import the file in IE.

  • I want to export iCal to Google Calendar on a PC

I've searched a bunch of forums but none of the instructions match. They all say click on the calendar you want to export, then click file, export etc etc
The problem is that on a PC, there are no file/export options.  All I have are calendars on the left and I can click a button the "share" the calendar.
So anyone know how to export iCal to Google calendar on a PC?  Thanks.

Found it. FYI, you have to "share" the calendar you want to back up or export. Copy and paste the URL given into your browser, but do NOT hit enter. Change the "webcal" at the beginning to "http" then hit enter. It's automatically downloaded to your default location.  Then you can import the ICS file directly into Google calendar.

  • ICal hangs when exporting a calendar

When attempting to export a calendar (as a backup), it causes iCal to hang, and I have to Force Quit. The calendar is ~9.5 Megs in size. I have run Disk Utility.
I am using iCal version 5.0.3.
The last backup that was successful was on 9/21/2012 (I back up every week). Because I have added events and reminders since then, I don't want to restore that file but would like to see if there is a way ro "fix" the hangup so that I can get a good calendar export.
    Anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks.

through additional experimentation, here is what i learned.
when i created the calendar, i told iphoto i wanted to display american holidays and a calendar from ical.
If i unselect the show holidays options, my dates import correctly.  with holiday selected i get some dates from ical, but only to the extent they don't over lap with holidays.
once i noticed this pattern, i went back and forth and sure enough if you have an event from ical on say chirtmas day, it won't be imported into your calendar.
I didn't seem to matter which order the events were added to the calendar ... holidays first or ical calendar dates first.
Finally, i created an ical calendar with the holidays i wanted displayed, then in iphoto told it not to include holidays, but to display both ical calendars.  That had the same issue.  on date where you have events on both calendars, only one set of dates will appear in iphoto.
so to conclude building a calendar in iphoto you can not include dates from mulitple ical calendars without conflict.
i stopped short of merging calendars in ical, but i guess that's next.
Not to be too critical here, but that sounds like bug someone at apple might be able to fix.
Perhaps some of the developers you have building weekly updates to itunes and put them to work cleaning up this kind of mess.
Hope this helps others with the same problem.

  • Help needed to sync ical and google calendar

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me set up my ical and google calendar so they can sync from one to the other. I originally have ical with everything on it and I need to get it to sync with google. I have no problem exporting from ical and importing in google but I do have a problem setting it up to sync back and forth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Sync from ical to Google calendar

Oddly I found this info nowhere on the net. There's lots of advice to sync Google to iCal, but getting the iCal calendars already on your mac synced to Google ? Things become hugely complicated and mostly require 3rd party apps. When in fact it's relatively simple.
    1) Sync Google to iCal. Google based calendars will appear underneath your desktop based calendars in the left hand bar of iCal. Google calendars are synced fine, but your desktop calendars are not, and that is the problem (for the moment).
    2) Select (highlight) one of your desktop calendars. File - Export and save the file somewhere on your Mac.
    3) In Google Calendar (on the internet, not in iCal), create a new calendar and give it the name of the desktop calendar you just exported.
    4) In Google Calendar, choose Import and select the file you created on your Mac. Assign it to the new calendar you created in Google.
Bingo, the calendar now appears in Google under the same name as your desktop. It also reappears a few moments later in iCal (when iCal resyncs with Google) under the Google section in the left hand bar of iCal. BUT all the entries for that calendar now appear double in iCal, once for the desktop version and once for the Google version. So :
    5) Deselect the desktop version (or remove it - you can always reimport the exported file if necessary)
    6) Proceed the same way for the rest of your desktop based calendars.
You now have all your calendars both on Google and iCal (including all past events) and they will remain synced from now on. No third party app required. The only limitation I've seen so far is that you can't create calendar groups (to archive the calendars you no longer need, for example) in Google.
    Hope this helps.

I thought the answer would be CalDav. Publishing your calendars to your server or mobileme. But when I did this nothing showed up in Gcal.

  • Sync iCal with iCloud Calendar

None of my appointments in iCal show up in my iCloud Calendar. In fact my iCloud Calendar has no appointments in it. I am sure I screwed something up in the coversion and trying to remove all the duplicate entries. In any event, how do I go about syncing forcing the appointments in iCal to show up in iCloud Calendar.

Problem resolved, and I can now see the other replies, strange.
Anyway, make sure you have a back up copy of your address book and iCal. Use the Export feature to make a back up.
This is what I did to finally resolve the problem.
Go into System Preferences and open "Mail, Contacts & Calendars". Remove all accounts, use the - box.
Go into System Preferences and open "iCloud". Make sure that you have the screen that asks you to sign up for an account. DO not do this yet.
Open Mac Mail and Preferences and remove any accouts that are still showing up so your Mail is completely empty.
Reboot your Mac. Check all the above to see if any accounts have been automatically reinstalled or set up. If they have remove them again.
Reboot again and do the same thing. Once no accounts are showing open you iCal and import the file you exported earlier. This will restore all your appointments in iCal on your Mac.
Reboot your Mac. Make sure that all the iCloud and email accounts are not there. I had to do this 3 times, for what ever reason my old MobileMe account continue to be added back to "Mail, Contacts & Calendars". Once everything is clean and you have all your appointments in iCal, reboot again.
Open Preferences and open "iCloud". Add your primary iCloud account and just wait for everything to finish installing. You should see 2 sets of appointments in iCal. Click on the Calendars button in the upper left and uncheck the box under the heading that does not say iCloud. This does not remove any of the appointments it just hides the ones that are on your Mac and then shows the ones that are on the iCloud Calendar.
One last thing. In iCal open Preferences form the iCal dromdown menue. Under the "Default Calendar" option make sure that you have the default calendar related to the iCloud Calendar checked. If you do not when ever you create a new appointment on your Mac you will be creating it in iCal and two things will happen. First all your iCal appointments on your Mac will show up again and secondl, that appointment will not show up in iCloud Calendars so it will not migrate to your other devices.
Apple should give some thought to having the iCal and iCloud Calendars merged so there are not seperate sets of appointments. I know there must be some reason for doing it the way they did but if someone is going to be using iCloud what would be the purpose of having a seperate set of appointments on your Mac that you have to hide and then worry about entering a new appointment that may not migrate to iCloud if you happend to se that appointment up in the iCal list instead of the iCloud list.

  • Syncing iCal to Google Calendars

I am using 10.3.9 and don't intend to upgrade until Leopard (due to expense) I have iCal 1.5.5 and iSync 1.5.
Because I cannot sync directly from iCal to my Sony Ericsson K750i mobile phone I have attempted to solve this by using Google Calendar to which I can export iCal, and using GooSync I can sync from Google Calendar to the phone.
Does any one know of a way of syncing iCal to Google Calendar as the export option is limited and time consuming compared to a true sync.
Even a way of exporting individual events would be preferable to eporting the entire calendar and would be almost as good as syncing, but my understanding is that I cannot export snippets in this way. I would love for someone to tell me I am wrong.

  • Ical export failing - partial or truncated

    Hello,
I am iCal exporting calendars via FTP and webdav.
For some time, I have noticed that the calendars is not completely exported.
The export stop in a VEVENT. I have tried to reduce the calendar to a small subset of calendar entries, and it now contains 6 entries. As soon as I remove one the 6 remaining, the export completes.
I have upgraded today to Lion 10.7 but the issue remains. It happens also zith 10.6.
    Is it a known issue?
    Regards.

Google search associates that error wth insufficient storage. Check that out and see if you are over the limit.

  • Problem exporting "Birthdays" calendar

    I am using Address Book v4.0.4 & iCal v2.0.5 on OS X v10.4.9 ....
When I turn on the Birthdays calendar in the iCal preferences everything displays fine in iCal. However, when I export the calendar (for syncing to a mobile device) the apostrophe character in the event title (First Lastname's Birthday) is converted to ’.
Any suggestions regarding what I can try to fix this annoying glitch? I have tried changing the setting for vCard encoding in Address Book from Western (Mac OS Roman) [default] to both Unicode 16 & 8 with no change in results. If I manually create a birthday event in iCal (with an apostrophe in the event title) it exports just fine.
Here is a snippet from an exported birthday calendar to illustrate what is happening:

I am not getting the problem with 10.5.3 - the apostrophes appear as such in the vCard file. I notice in Address Book preferences that the option to change from the default encoding (Mac OS Roman) is grayed out, but becomes available if I change the vCard format to 2.1. Have you tried setting the vCard format to 3?

  • TS3999 How do I export iCloud calendar to Google Calendar?

My personal agenda is saved on Google Calendar and my office agenda in saved on iCloud Calendar.
So I have to open to pages at the same time every day to manage my commitments: www.icloud.com and calendar.google.com
I cant stand this situation anymore. It is making my day improductive.
I just want to merge the agendad into Google Calendar, so I could see all my events in just one calendar.
So, how do I export iCloud calendar to Google Calendar?

You can back up your iCloud calendar as an ICS file if Google can import this format.  To do so follow these directions:
    iCloud.com Calendar
This method of backing up starts with publishing a calendar that you can then download to your computer. If your calendar is already on your computer, skip to the OS X or Windows instructions.
Go to iCloud Calendar at icloud.com/calendar and sign in using your iCloud Apple ID and password.
    Publicly share a calendar.
Select and copy the URL (web address) from that shared calendar, and paste it to the address field in your browser; do not press Enter or Return yet.
Change "webcal" to "http", and then press Enter.
An ICS file will download to your default downloads location. The calendar can be added to a calendar client like iCal on Mac or Outlook on a Windows PC.
Once the download completes, unpublish the shared calendar.

  • How to export several calendars simultaneously?

How to export several calendars simultaneously? And I don't mean by grouping them into one group calendar.
I need it for operating iCalendar, and I do not have patience to do basically the same action seven times in a row. A group calendar is not a relevant solution either because I want to distinguish the individual calendars by their different colors.
Can you do it directly from the iCal Sources folder (the calendars carry crazy names)?
Can you do it by invoking the Terminal?
    * This thread was first mistakenly (thanks Duane) posted in the Tiger session.

    Hi Ken,
Here is a slightly more rigourously thought out version of this Applescript. It should not crash and gives some more feedback about what happened.
set theDestination to choose folder with prompt "Where do you want the files?"
set myPath to alias ((path to application support from user domain) & "iCal:Sources:" as string)
    tell application "Finder"
    activate
set myFolders to (folders of folder myPath)
    set doneList to ""
    repeat with myFolder in myFolders
set thePath to ((myFolder as alias) & "info.plist") as text
set theXML to read file thePath
repeat with myPara from 1 to count of paragraphs of theXML
if paragraph myPara of theXML contains "Title" then set theName to (characters 10 thru -10 of (paragraph (myPara + 1) of theXML) & ".ics") as string
    end repeat
set name of file "corestorage.ics" of myFolder to theName
    delay 0.5
    try
duplicate file theName of myFolder to theDestination with replacing
set doneList to doneList & return & theName
    on error theErr
display alert "File '" & theName & "' could not be copied." message theErr giving up after 30
    end try
set name of file theName of myFolder to "corestorage.ics"
    end repeat
display alert "iCal .ics file copy done." message "The following files were created in the folder:" & return & "'" & theDestination & "'" & return & doneList giving up after 30
    end tell

  • What's the difference between iCal Export and Archive?

    I want to back up my iCal on my Mac before converting to iCloud. I see via the File drop down menu, I can either;
    File > Export > Export
    or
File > Export > iCal Archive
Apple docs just addresses: iCal Archive for backing up which is fine.
But I was wondering what the Export > Export function is for. Is it a different file format than iCal Archive thus allowing you to import and Export > Export to perhaps another calendar program other than iCal?

Austin, your response doesn't fully satisfy the question. First, while you're right that "backup" would imply that it's a backup, the word "backup" doesn't actually appear in the menu options. Some time has gone by from the original post and the original product names, but the concept of two choices still remains. They now are given as "Export…" and "Calendar Archive…" (previously it was "Export…" and "iCal Archive…").
According to other sources, "Export…" is used to export a single file, to later import to another calendar program or perhaps another computer.
"Calendar Archive…", on the other hand, is supposedly used to export ALL your calendars, and subsequently to import to a new Calendar on a different Mac (or, of course, to reload the current one). It seems to me that someone wanting to take their whole calendar environment off their office computer and get it onto a laptop or a home computer would want to use Calendar Archive rather than Export.

  • Ical export limitations ?

I have an Ical calendar with about 4.000 events (back to 1940) each time I try to export this calendar after a while the beachball is spinning and the activity monitor tells me "Ical does not respond" but if i look at the monitor are still some activities going on. Are there any limitations ?
Even if i try to copy more than 40 events same thing is happen.
    Any ideas
    regards
    olaf

im08 will only allow you to export a movie up to the size of the source video. So if your source is 640 x 480 it will allow you to export to 640 x 480, but if your source is 640 x 432 it will only allow you to export to the one below 640 x 480 (forget what that is right now).
This has always been the case and hasn't changed with 10,5. The reason you might think it has is because if you drop a photo into the project for example with a resolution of 1600 x1200 for example, then it will allow you to export up to that size, limited by the max export resolution of 960 x 540 of course.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite, my Exchange calendar no longer syncs to iCal (the Apple calendar). Help?

After upgrading to Yosemite, my Exchange calendar no longer syncs to iCal (the Apple calendar). Help?

That's not the point.    Before iCloud, Outlook synched with Apple Calendar and/or iCal.    With iCloud, Cal syncs with iPhone and other devices.     Outlook doesn't have to sync with iCloud (although that would certainly be nice).   It just has to continue to sync with Cal, which in turn syncs with devices via iCloud.
But for some inane reason, it doesn't.    If this is Apple's way of forcing people to not use Office and only use Calendar and Apple Mail, they are going to stop the gains they've made in business environments.   Businesses, especially large businesses, use Outlook.   End of story.
Furthermore, Apple's instructions for setting up or deleting iCal and iCloud accounts is complete gibberish.  And I'm a tech who has been working with computers for 32 years.   Apple used to be great at making things easy.  They now suck at it and are just as bad as Microsoft.
