ICal fonts too small to read

I tried using iCal for the first time.
I can't read the fonts on my 30" monitor without strong magnification. No one here can read the fonts easily, even those with excellent eyesight.
How can I enlarge the fonts without using the Universal Access magnification, which makes everything unsharp and gives me a headache?
Thanks,
BTW, when I enlarge the fonts for these forums, the lines run into each other. Can that be fixed? Or is that a problem with the site?
I use Safari.
Thanks again,
Mark B Anstendig

I appreciate the help.
Unfortunately, changing resolutions on LCD is about the same, unsharpnesswise, as using the zoom feature in Universal access.
The ability to choose font size, font color, etc., was available in ODS 9 and previous, and should be available to us as a part of the system.
That it isn't and that, with typical native resolutions for LCDs fonts and all detail size is seen at about half WYSIWYG (half the printed-out size) is a huge fault of the Apple OS.
We are stuck with too small fonts and details in too many applications, windows, toolbars, etc.
I need to enlarge the fonts in iCal, without messing anything up like Universal access does. Otherwise, I cannot use it, nor can many people i know. Ity is that simple!
Any real solutions, not makeshift attempts at trying to help.
Thanks again,
Mark B Anstendig

  • N80 Fonts too small to read

Does anyone know how to increase the size of the fonts so that things like phone numbers from phone book and text messages can be read by anyone ove the age of 30.
The text size on my N80 is about half the size of newspaper fonts and having a blue background makes it even more difficult to read

In the past the answer was always that changing font size wasn't possible and your only option was to choose a theme with high contrast.
I did see a couple of threads on here a week or so back about a 3rd party app that did apparently helped. Don't think the thread related to N80s specifically, but the app might work on there, too.

  • Font too small to read increase site font size

IThe font in firefox keeps decreasing in size. Most sites font is probably a 6 or 7 pt. Ridiculous and I cannot find out how to change it. Please help immediately or I will have to cancel firefox account. Norton does not indicate I have any virus of any sort affecting computer.

Have you tried Firefox's zoom feature? Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages
You can "zoom" all sites using this add-on: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint]. After setting your global zoom level, you can still fine-tune the zoom on individual sites.
After installing NoSquint, click the % on the Add-on Bar to call up site preferences, then click the Global Settings button, then the Zooming tab.
If you don't have the Add-on Bar displayed, you can right-click the new tab button ("+") or a blank area of the tab bar to the right of it and choose Add-on Bar from the shortcut menu.
You can experiment with sizes larger than 125%, but I wouldn't go much higher than 150% unless you have a large high-resolution monitor.
If there are particular sites that still present a problem, feel free to post their URLs.
You can find more information about the zoom features Firefox offers in these articles:
[[Text zoom]] - For zooming text only
[[Page zoom]] - For zooming the whole page (including images etc.)

  • When i browse with firefox the search results come up too small to read and I can't find any menu buttons (ie, can't find anywhere to zoom in or the view menu)

Have just got a new computer. Downloaded firefox as it has always been better than explorer and I've never had trouble on previous computers. It seemed to download okay. I set google as my home page. When I type a search phrase into it, the results page comes up too small to read. It's like it's normal but miniature. You know how google has google images, googlevideos, google maps across the top of it, if I click on the minature 'images' word, it comes up with the google images page but also very tiny. But if I click the mini 'videos' word, the videos search page is normal sized and so is the maps page.
It's driving me crazy because the initial page seems okay but there's no normal google stuff on that either, and then when I try to search for something, it goes tiny.

    Hello Ashley.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
On the other hand, you may have Firefox configured to display fonts like that. Check Tools > Options > Content > Fonts & Colors and see that the font size is not too small. In my experience, sizes bellow 16 will be way to small to read.

  • File printing and icons for folders in Bridge CS5 - too small to read

Got CS5 and am trying to use Bridge. The folders are too small to read and the print with them too small. The slider at the bottom of the page enlarges the space but the files and printing stay the same size. If I open one the images will enlarge with the slider but I don't want to waste time opening each file to see what is in them. I want to be able to read wha the file is and open the right one first try.
Tried calling "tech support" Those jackasses can't speak English. On hold for 3 hours overall after getting someone, getting cut off and having to call again. I hope Pakistan nukes India and solves that problem.
When I finally got through the guy told me my Photoshop copy was not registered. Funny, it was last week when it had problems. Then I try changing the pasword and it says it did it, but won't accept it.
    I hate computers.
So, anyone know how to get this damn probram to make the folders and printing big enough to read without my having to get up to the screen with a magnifying glass like Sherlock Holmes? The screen is a 22inch graphic arts monitor and I don't have this problem with any other programs. Not Breezebrowser, Not Auto Pano Pro, not Photo Mechanic. Just Bridge with this overpriced and overhyped photoshiz crap.

Send in a bug report, they do read those, and maybe if enough users complain they will modify the program.

  • Apple Mail Too Small to Read

  • Thunderbolt - everything too small to read at high res

I want to use my Thunderbolt at full resolution but everything is just too small to read without eventually getting a headache !  I bought a large screen to make reduce the strain.
Is there a way around this?

    There is a fix!
I have a 30 inch monitor running at 2560 x 1600 with my Mac Mini and the outrageous $99 adapter from Apple. (Found it new for $60 on eBay.)
My menu bars and Google Chrome's tabs and bookmark bar were both way too small - like 4 point!
TinkerToolSystem, (not TinkerTool) allows you to go into hidden preferences and re-set to "HiDPI." Afer making the adjustment which doubled my DPI, I had to choose half the resolution 1280 x 800, but with no loss of real resolution! Things did get bigger elsewhere but I was able to adjust most of them. Hooray! GL!
Download the Evaluation copy of TinkerToolSystem. You get to open it 5 times for free.

    About halfway down, under "Screen."
    For Snow Leopard
By default, Mac OS X assumes that the display screen is rendering graphics with a resolution of 72 pixels per inch. This policy was taken over from the classic Mac OS. While this basic assumption was true when the Macintosh was introduced more than 20 years ago, today's display devices often have a much higher resolution. The pixels have become smaller, so your screen may actually use e.g. 100 pixels per inch. In practice, this means that graphical elements, for example fonts, will be displayed too small, so a 12 point font selected in an application might no longer match the actual size of a 12 point font printed in a book when you compare screen and book side by side.
To accommodate these changes, Mac OS X is capable of using arbitrary display resolutions. TinkerTool System allows you to change the resolution between 36 and 216 pixels per inch. If the screen display stays the same, the screen contents will be displayed larger when you set a higher resolution, and smaller when you set a lower resolution.
    For Lion and Mt.Lion
Apple has removed the feature from the operating system that allowed to control the physical resolution of screen output by an infinitely variable factor. As of 10.7 or later, this function was replaced by the feature HiDPI (High Number of Dots per Inch) which allows to double the physical resolution only. This means you can select between the discrete values 72 ppi and 144 ppi (or 288, 578, … ppi in the far future). Other magnification steps or scaling down are no longer available. The HiDPI strategy allow OS X to be used on ultra-high-resolution screens (“retina displays”).
Enabling the HiDPI feature requires two steps. The first step is to unlock HiDPI mode via TinkerTool System. The second step is to select one of the HiDPI display resolutions on the pane Displays ofSystem Preferences. Perform the following steps to work with HiDPI display modes:
Select the item Screen in the pane System.
Switch between the two possible modes Hide HiDPI resolutions and Display HiDPI resolutions.
Log out to let the change take effect.
When you log in again, you can launch System Preferences, go to Displays and choose one of the HiDPI settings shown in the table Display > Resolutions.
WARNING: The display resolution is a very critical setting. If you set the resolution too high, the windows can become so large that they no longer fit on screen. This means you can no longer see or control all parts of some applications which can make your system unusable!
To use the system with 144 ppi, a screen with at least 2048 x 1536 pixels is strongly recommended, because OS X applications are designed by the rule that they can expect windows to have a minimum size of 1024 x 768 pixels at 72 ppi.
The Retina Displays may lead to a software update and then we will all be happy.

  • Font too small on Query Builder conditions tab in BP1

A new feature in 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 is that on the Query Builder's Conditions tab, the default font in the Alias and Conditions columns is about a 6 point courier, and is almost too small to read. Any suggestions on how to increase the size of that font? I know I can alter my browser settings, but that just messes up other web pages that are more intelligently designed.

Interesting. You must have something on your Query Builder screen(s) that I don't have. There's nothing in the bottom right hand corner of any of my four QB screens/tabs.
Are you working with the BP1 patch set?
