ICal for the dim witted

Every year I have to copy the events of the current year to the same dates of the following year (holidays, birthdays, etc..). But there is no quick way to hop 1 year at a time It has to be done by pressing the arrow which flips the months forward or backward.
The iCal help says:
"To change an all-day event into a regular event, drag the all-day event to the main-calendar view. You can also change a regular event into an all-day event by dragging it to the all-day event area".
But, where is the main-calendar view? I only see 3 views: daily, weekly, and monthly. When selecting events to be reported a year forward, I am in the monthly view.
I often find that manuals and help files have a knack for dealing with all problems except mine.
If everyone else understand, then I must be ********, but I still need your help

mauricemaurice,
Have you tried to use the "repeat" field of the Info Window?
You can also create a Birthdays Calendar by filling out the "birthday" field in Address Book. Then select iCal>Preferences...>General>[✓] Show Birthdays calendar.
For Holidays, if you are in the U.S. paste webcal://ical.mac.com/ical/US32Holidays.ics into the iCal>Calendar>Subscribe... window.
Birthday Calendars and Subscribed calendars cannot be changed in the iCal window.

I use ical for the first time, how do you update the programm without updating for 2 hours all other programms

From the iCal Help Menu in the Tool Bar...
    Changing or deleting an event
You can change the time, day, alarm, or any other settings for any events you’ve created, or you can delete an event.
You can’t change the events on a calendar you’ve subscribed to (subscribed calendars appear in your Calendar list under the heading “Subscriptions”), and you can only change the calendar, status, and alarms for events you’ve been invited to.
To change or delete an event:
To change the time or day of an event you’ve created, drag the event to the new time or day in the main calendar view.
To change an event’s duration, drag the event’s top or bottom edge. (You can resize events only in Day or Week view.) If the event is an all-day event, in Week view, drag the left or right side of it.
To change the name of an event, double-click it. If necessary, click Edit to open the event editor. Select the event name, type a new name, and then click Done. (You can also change the name of an event without opening the event editor by holding down the Option key while you double-click the event name.)
To edit other characteristics of an event (for example, how often it repeats or whether it has an alarm), double-click the event. If necessary, click Edit to open the event editor. Make your changes.
To delete an event, select the event and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
If you’re changing an event to which you’ve invited other people, you need to send an updated event to the invitees by clicking Send in the event editor

  • ICal for the Visually Handicapped?

iCal is not designed for use by visually handicapped people! On the daily and weekly calendars all of the text is a dark color on a lighter version of the same color. For people with problem seeing low contrast, this is horrible. All of the text is very small with no way to make the text bigger or bold. Even using the accessibility options does not help.
Apple please take note. Make iCal available to everyone.

    Hi
not what you asked for, I know..... but you can at leastincrease the size of the desktop font.... ctrl-click on an empty area of the desktop & choose 'show view options' there's a place to alter the font size there.
Beyond that, I'd need to see if there's any reliable way to fool OSX or Finder into using the font you want, or to swap the font file for one with the same name, but that shows Lucida grande on the screen. Don't hold your breath for that though, messing with system fonts & settings can cause BIG trouble.... so if you find any 'solutions' elsewhere, post them here first & I'll try them out.

  • ICal issue - "The server responded with an error"

Hi All. I've been having this error pop up on my iCal for the last week after the last iOS update and it's driving me a little batty.
I don't have any shared calendars, appointments loaded in. I'm just running the iCal calendar frm icloud between my Air and my iPhone.
    Error that pops up reads:
The server responded with an error.
The URL ***icloud***/principal/ encountered HTTP error 404. Make sure the URL is correct.
I haven't changed anything in settings. The appointments are still syncing between my computer and phone however, this pop up comes up every 5-30 seconds on my computer if iCal is open.
Ideas on how to fix it?

Is this the pop-up you get?
The request for account “[email protected]” failed.
    The server responded with
    “HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway”
    to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.
I've never seen it before but am getting it this evening (UK time). Also if I try to log in to MMe Calendar it's not logging in but going to 'find my iPhone' like it did when Mail was mucking about a few weeks back.

  • Importing modified Bug WIT does not refresh the template in TFS 2013 for the project created using Scrum Template.

    Hi,
We have a TeamProjectA created in a collection using ScrumTemplate 2013.4. I have added a new State 'Duplicate' in the Bug WIT and modified the workflow. Also the ProcessConfiguration file is modified to match the metastate and imported using the ImportWit
Commands which were successful. When I Export the modified WIT using Process Editor for TeamProjectA I can see the Bug.xml has my changes. However, when I try to create a new Bug through TWA, I do not see the new State'Duplicate' that I added.
I dont see my changes are updated in the common configuration files Path ie C:\\Program Files\Microsoft Team Foundation Server 12.0\Tools\Deploy\ProcessTemplateManagerFiles
Note: I have a different TeamProjectB created using the Agile template created under the same Collection as my other TeamProjectA. Not sure if this has anything to do with my problem.

    Hi NetLearuner15,
    Thanks for your reply.
If you want use witadmin command on your TFS Server machine, you need install VS 2013 on your TFS 2013 Server machine.
Have you tried create new Bug using VS? The new added state value shows correctly in VS or cannot see it in VS too?
    You’re using TFS 2013 Update 4 and VS 2013 Update 4?
Yes, you can restart your TFS Server and check the result.
And we suggest you add a new custom field in your Bug_Test work item type(Fields and Layout) or only edit a default state value in it using Process Editor, then save this Bug_Test work item type and check if this new update shows correctly when you create
a new Bug_Test work item from TFS Server. If the  new field or changed state value can be updated correctly in your TFS Server, I think your initial ‘Duplicate’ state value not defined correctly in your Bug WIT>>workflow.

  • Imac is 4 months old.  Using installed Outlook for Mac 2011 but now want to use ical so that I can start to use iCloud to sync with my Ipad2 and iPhone.  How do I move my calendar from outlook to ical on the iMac?

This is my first attempt at using this forum so please be patient with me.  I am new to the apple world.  Bought an Imac desktop computer back in October and installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 because I was used to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and outlook.  Now I am being told that I should be using ical for my calendar so that I will be better able to move to icloud for use between my Imac, Ipad2, and Iphone.
The question is:  how do I move my calendar which is in "Outlook for Mac 2011" into ical on my Mac?  Do I have to remove the Outlook entries from the computer and reinstall them back to the same machine or can I somehow move calendar entries within the machine?  I appreciate any help I can get.  Thanks.

I also already deleted my phone number from iMessage on my MBP.

  • How does iCal, or Calendar, order the display of multiple events for the same time?

I can't for the life of me figure out how iCal orders the display of multiple items at the same time.  Does anyone have a clue?  It's not alphabetical.  It's not according the the order of the calendars in the left pane.  Is it just random?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the focus lost eventhandling start a thread which does
    the actual handling.
the new thread waits for a little time (0.1 seconds)
the click event of the button checks for a thread like the one above and tells it not to execute
This way you execute the for the lost focus event only if
the ok button isn't clicked in the same process ... not
realy good, because it kind of relies on the ordering of threads ... but maybe it still works for you?

  • Why do my events change in the day view, when I create a new event? (iCal for iPad 2)

Every time I create a new event in the day view in iCal on iPad, the other events (which I created before for the same day) change their starting and/or their ending time.
    Please help!

    monkeyde,
You are getting entagled in the two confusing meanings of the term pixels, namely as a unit identical to points and equalling 1/72 inch, and the basic component of raster images (and effects).
You can read on in this very recent thread:
Is there a way to get Illustrator to know how many pixels are in an inch?

  • ICal for iPhone. View all events as a list without having to type into the earth box.

iCal for iPhone. View all events as a list without having to type into the earth box.
On the previous software version I used to be able to view all my calendar events as a list by clicking on the magnifying glass. Now you have to type into the search dialog box for a list to populate. This is very frustrating and annoying because I much prefer the list format to populate everything unless I specify what I am looking for into the search box. Is there a way to view all the events as a list without having to type anything into the search box?

And you are aware of the possible options for listing the months and having an optional export value for each month.
For listing the months, you can use a number, a 3 character string, or the full name.
For the export value, the full name, the 3 character value, the 1-2 number, or the 0-11 JavaScript value.
I would look at deciding how you want to populate the drop down box and build a one page form with just this field. You can then insert that page into a PDF and copy the field as needed and then delete the inserted page. Or you could create an FDF file to create the drop down box.

  • ICal in Day view doesn't show hours, but Days for the hours?

Ok, so I have been trying to figure this out but I cannot find the answer. In iCal, I cannot change the hour of a new event. It only allows me to change the min. So I went into the Day view to try and move the events to the correct hours and all it shows is Midnight, Saturday over and over (where the hours should be) and then Noon and then Saturday over and over again. I have no idea why it does this and have searched through the settings and cannot figure it out. Can anyone help me?
I have posted a screen shot of my problem at

    Thank you

    DozierRedRaider,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
First of all try refreshing the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the .plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.
If that is unsuccessful, open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats, and choose, or change the appropriate region. Then check/change the "Times" formats that you are using.

I have a business and I use iCal for all my appointments, how can I print receipts from my MacBook to a receipt printer?
I want my clients to have a receipt of the services that they have paid for, can anyone HELP ME PLEASE?

Well...I went to the modem (Westell, WireSpeed), found the NAT settings, once again, I'm WAY over my head, I am assuming this is a TCP connection (as opposed to a UDP) and per Lorex my mobile devices will use port 1025.  So I gave it a "global port range" of 1-10 and I indicated that the "base host port" was 80, 1025, & 9000 (ports 1,2,3).  When I selected the 'enable' it asked for a "host devise" my choices are my IPhone, IMac and the IP address for the dvr, so I choose the dvr.  I still cannot connect and canyouseeme still can NOT find these open ports.  This is taking up my whole day! I don't know how people figure this stuff out.

  • Is there a way to get an alarm for my events for the iCal on the iPhone 4?

Is there a way to get an alarm for my events for the iCal on the iPhone 4?

    Greetings,
See page 113 of the iPhone 4 user manual: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
When you add an event to the Calendar.app of the iPhone 4 there is an "Alert" option which should give you the desired result.
    Cheers.

  • Hi Has anyone had this error message from iCal?  The request for account "Work" failed.  The server responded with "502" to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.

I keep getting this message whenever i am connected to iCal which is a tad annoying.

What I found works best is to do the following:
    Quit iCal on you
    Go to iCloud.com and sign-in
Create an event on the calendar
    Sign-out of iCloud.com
    Relaunch iCal
It will take a few seconds for the calender to resync, but you should see the new event pop up on the calender. After that, hopefully all is well.
