ICal freezes while saving backup file

I want to migrate from my iTunes account to my MobileMe/iCloud account. But before I can do that, I need to create a backup of my calendars. My problem is though, that iCal constantly freezes when I'm saving the backup file (via File > Export > iCal Archive…) and I have to force quit it after a while.
Any suggestions?

I've tried EVERYTHING, and this is a consistent problem across the years.  What the **** is wrong?  I can archive the calendar, even share it on iCloud, but it's nearly impossible to export!
I heard one way to do it is to delete most of your past events, but I need to keep records of where I've been and such.   APPLE....SOLVE THIS!  It's been a problem since 2008!

    While saving a file, I have converted all my files to Pdf.  This made everything inaccessible, even Explorer.  I had to delete Adobe to get back to some of the previous files.  I tried to restore system to previous, but I kept getting a pop up message that said I did not have enough shadow space.  Does anyone have a solution?  Greatly appreciate your help.

  • I can't create a new tag while saving a file in Yosemite.

    The title pretty much says it all :-) As I try to type in a new tag while saving a file, the curser just blinks, and doesn't respond.  I can't create a new tag. I can click on existing tags, and they get added to the file, but the support page on tags says:
    To add a tag:
    Click on a recent tag that appears in the menu to link it your document. You can even add multiple tags.
    Click “Show All…” to see the all of the tags you have created. Then, click on a tag to add it.
    You can also add tag by typing. As you type in the Tags field, you’ll see matching suggestions from your existing tags.
    To add a new tag, just type it in the field.
    New tags you create automatically appear in other locations where tags are visible, such as in the Finder sidebar.
    The fourth bullet is the one I'm referring to. I think this might be a bug, but I can't find a way to report it. If it's not a bug, I would really appreciate some guidance.

  • Rescue and Recovery Crashes While Deleting Backup Files

    I've seen many threads in regards to Rescue and Recovery crashing while deleting backup files, but no solutions were ever mentioned!  I have a T400 (Vista SP2, Intel T9400, 4GB RAM, 300 GB HD) and was quickly running out of disk space.  After finding mention of Rescue and Recovery I was able to delete some of the backups but not all.  For example I have one from 2008 (18GB) but it won't seem to delete.  I let it sit for quite a while (over night) but it still didn't delete.  Does anybody have a solution for how to get R&R to delete this files?  Or how to delete these files manually?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    in this situation I assume, you are using the GUI for the deletiong of the RnR Backups.
    What I always prefer is the rrcmd.exe which you can use with the "delete" whicht so that the backups that you want to will be deleted.

  • Excel 2010 Freezes while saving and computing when large files are opened.

    Hi
    The issue with with MS Office Excel 2010, where in if i open big files like greater than 40 or 50 mb file while saving or computing it takes lot of time
    like say 10 to 15 seconds and some times more also.
    This file i am referring is having around 5,000 row data and with around 15 sheets and has formula's and functions built into it.
    As and when i try to delete or update one of the same the status bar show processing message and starts processing from 0 to 100% this takes
    lot of time and during i feel my excel is frozen or system hanged kind of situation.
    The query is what is the limitation of file size which can be opened in Excel 2010 where i can work with the same without any freeze or hanging.
    need the same for Excel 2007 and 2013 versions also.
    Note : other office products like work, power point works fine without any issue.

    Hi,
    I didn't find the exact size of the limitation of size for Excel 2010, but as for Excel 2013, I can tell you this:
    32-bit environment is subject to 2 gigabytes (GB) of virtual address space, shared by Excel, the workbook, and add-ins that run in the same process. A data model’s share of the address space might run up to 500 – 700 megabytes (MB), but could be less if
    other data models and add-ins are loaded.
    64-bit environment imposes no hard limits on file size. Workbook size is limited only by available memory and system resources.
    I think the articles below will be very helpful to you:
    Excel specifications and limits
    For 2007:http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/excel-help/excel-specifications-and-limits-HP010073849.aspx?CTT=1
    For 2010:http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/excel-help/excel-specifications-and-limits-HP010342495.aspx?CTT=1
    For 2013:http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/excel-help/excel-specifications-and-limits-HA103980614.aspx?CTT=1
    Anyway, many factors may cause the freeze, such as hardware and add-ins, you may try starting Excel in Safe Mode to determine if it's add-ins related:
    Press Win + R and type “excel /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
    If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.

  • Dreamweaver (CS 6 12.2) freezes while saving for 1 second

    After the last Update Dreamweaver freezes for one second (with blue Spinner) while saving files. I cant do something, until the spinner disappears.
    Why does saving a textfile take so long in the new version?  Is this a bug? If yes: Is it possible to install older versions of Dreamweaver again? I have a CC Subscription.

    Not sure why that would happen. I don't see the same thing here. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling. IIRC, you should get 13.0 again on a fresh install.
    You can also have DWCS6 and DWCC installed at the same time (they just can't be used at the same time) if you are a subscriber. You can follow the instructions here to get it: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/download-previous-versions-creative-applications. html

  • Form Builder crashes while saving .fmb file when connected to db

    Hi,
    I am getting error The instruction at "0x679c352c" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The memory could not be "read".
    Forms version is 6.0.8.11.3 and database version is 10.2.0.3.0
    I am doing the following steps:
    1) Open .fmb file in forms builder
    2) Connecting to database
    3) Making some changes in form
    4) Compiling (Ctrl+Shift+K) and generating form (Ctrl+t)
    5) Saving form <--- Here I am getting the error and form crashes
    If I do not connect to database then builder is allowing me to save the file
    1) Open .fmb file in forms builder
    2) Making some changes in form
    3) Saving form (Successful)
    I did some exercise just as a guess that may some part of the form is causing this error. I full expanded all components of the form i.e. blocks, canvases, triggers etc.
    This exercise produced that 3 program units were giving same error while full expending those. I deleted those 3 program units and re-created them. Now it is not showing me this memory error while full expanding all program units. I can now fully expand my full form.
    But I am still getting this error while saving the changes when I am connected to database.
    Please help.

    Hi Experts,
    We are getting the same issue. Our form builder crashes once we open our custom form
    in form builder.
    Server shows:-
    Forms 6.0 (Forms Runtime) Version 6.0.8.28.0 (Production)
    Form Builder shows:-
    Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.11.3 (Production)
    How to upgrade the form builder version?

  • How to turn off eps saving backup file as filename -01.eps?

    Hi all,
    I'm not at sure how I came about this/which box was ticked in saving options but whenever I save eps files, Illustrator will also save another backup file with '-01' after the filename and before the extension '.eps'. Also, whenever I save the document (as opposed to 'save as') a dialogue box will appear asking me if I want to replace the already existing file. Obviously I do.
    My question is: How do I turn this option off?
    NOTE: as far as I know, this problem of mine is only limited to .eps files, or more precisely it doesn't seem to happen when saving .ai files.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Larry!
    I can't see the relevance in "Use Artboards" and saving a back up but I'll take it.

  • Muse crashed while saving my file, now the file is corrupt.

    I was making some new changes to my Muse site (literally 2) and went to save it. Muse, even though it opened the file from recent sites, asked me to locate the file when I said "Save." So I navigated to where the file was saved and hit "Save" again. Muse crashed. Upon re-opening Muse it asked if I wanted to re-open the file and I said yes. I get the error "Cannot Open File" with "This Adobe Muse site cannot be opened." and no records in main.active table followed by an OK button.
    So now, I am assuming I have to re-build my Muse site from scratch, or leave it unchanged on the business catalyst site. Is there any way to recover it from where it is hosted? If I rebuild it, will that cause a problem with that host space?
    Ugh.

    Please send me the original file (before being opened and resaved with the latest Muse). Given it's size, e-mail should likely work, but using a service such as WeTransfer, Adobe SendNow, Dropbox, etc. may be more convenient. Please send it to [email protected] along with a link to this thread.
    It would be helpful if you could also send the MuseLog.txt file from your Document folder. Muse may have logged some relevant errors along the way.
    Am I correct the .muse file was stored on an SMB mounted file server while being opened and worked on in Muse?
    A few bits of information that may be helpful:
    - The speed of Save is proportional to the scope of the changes since the last Save, thus Save is usually very fast.
    - The speed of Save As is proportional to the total size of your file and currently runs fairly exhaustive diagnostics prior to the actual save and also compacts the file after the save, thus it's very slow compared to Save.
    - Whenever a file is converted from an older version of Muse when you next go to Save, Muse will bring up a Save As dialog. This is to encourage you to save to a new file name, so you have the old file should you need to go back to the prior version of Muse for any reason. If you proceed to overwrite the file from the previous version of Muse, Muse should display a warning message discouraging you from overwriting but providing the choice to continue. It sounds like you never received this dialog? Regardless, overwriting should work without a problem.
    - Working on a .muse file stored on a file server will be hundreds of times slower than working on the same file stored on your local hard drive. The underlying database library Muse uses for creating and accessing .muse files has not been optimized or use an a file server. It makes many many small reads and writes. These are fast when a file is stored locally, but painfully slow over a network to a file server.

  • Changing image orientation while saving to file

    I get a Base64Encoded image string (GIF format) from an external system. While reading the byte array and saving the image to file, the image gets saved in landscape orientation.
    The code snippet is below.
    String image = "R0lGODdhCAcgA=";
    Base64Coder decoder = new Base64Coder();
    byte [] decodeBytes = decoder.decode(image.getBytes());
    ByteArrayInputStream stream = new ByteArrayInputStream(pngArray);
    BufferedImage bImage = ImageIO.read(stream);
    File label = new File("C:/labels/test.gif");
    ImageIO.write(bImage, "gif", label);
    I want to save the image in portrait orientation. Is there a way to do that?

    Looks like ImageIO doesn't support that but third party libraries do.
    See if you can use the solution in this thread:

  • Premiere creates garbage zero-byte file while saving, project file dissapears/corrupts

    Hi guys,
    I've been experiencing a strange intermittent technical problem with Premiere project saves (and sometimes After Effects project files).
    Case:
    - Editor opens a project.
    - After a moment, as editor hits 'save'.
    - A strangely named file appears in the save location with no extension (a long string of characters separated by hyphons).
    - Sometimes, this garbage file disappears and project is saved. Other times, this file remains and original project file disappears and the editor doesn't even know!
    - If editor hits save again, a message box appears saying the file has been modified since last save - hit cancel or OK.
    This issue has meant that we've lost project files, and have had to recover them from auto-save and/or Creative Cloud sync folder.
    Sometimes it saves ok!
    This is what the strange file looks like.
    I don't know if this issue is related to Adobe software, Mac os or Linux but we've only run into it while using Adobe software.
    Sometimes, After Effects throws an error related to this as well, forcing you to either 'save as', or incremental save.
    It's a networked editing environment - all clients are Mavericks macs, working from a Ubuntu Linux server via SMB via gigabit ethernet. All clients are authenticated to the server as the same Admin user. Directory and Create masks are 0755 in SMB settings. SMB.conf also has some tuning parameters: socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_RCVBUF=65536 SO_SNDBUF=65536
    Op-locks are disabled at server-side (I thought it could be to do with oplocks).
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Or perhaps someone could explain to me the behind-the-scenes process that happens when Premiere executes a save?

    Glad to hear it's not me going crazy, but unglad that you're experiencing it!
    Recently we replaced SMB with NFS as the protocol for sharing our main raid volume and cache, and since then this issue no longer happens.
    This definitely points to the way Adobe apps with with SMB. I have a feeling it's something to do with oplocks or something behind the scenes that denies PP access to the project file for overwriting it.
    TBH, as a bonus NFS feels like a rocketship to planet editor-bliss. It's a proper beast. Unfortunately I'm not sure how good the Windows implementation is (I know certainly that only windows 7/8 enterprise clients are able to access NFS shares, which is a bummer for most).
