ICal + google calendar + iPod touch

Hi,
I use iCal to update my events to my Google calendar (using CalDAV) and then use iTunes to update my iPod touch. But the problem is that, the timings from the google calendar is all messed up. The other calendars (the default ones or the ones created within iCal) seem to be okay! Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?
Thank you.

Is anyone else having this problem?

It will if I put it in on my desktop though.

Probably because you did not tell the iPod to sync the calendar in iTunes.

  • ICal/Google Calendar no longer sync since April 23 2011

In the last week of April iCal/Google calendar sync has quit working.  When trying to sync the iCal and the Google.  The message I get is that  "iCal found the CalDAV server 'www.google.com', but couldn't log in with the user name "XXXXXX". Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then try again.  I originally noticed the bouncing iCal icon about April 23-24 and at the time it said that the account [email protected] could not update. I re-entered the information for the account and it still ddid not update.  I deleted the account on iCal hoping that a re-enter of all the information would get things up and running and it has not.
I have looked over the available responses to similar problems and none of them have made any difference.
    Please always include:
    Mac OS X 10.6.7
Program and version you use to access Google Calendar (e.g. Internet Explorer 7 or Outlook 2003):  Safari 5.0.5 (6533.21.1) and Google Chrome 11.0.696.57 and iCal Version 4.0.4 (1395.7)
I also cannot set up the account on the iPad (I was hoping to do so as a work around).  Interestingly enough, my wife who subscribes to my Google Calendar as a delegate still gets the updates and things are working for her on her iMac using iCal.

I'm suffering the same, but I have some more information about it.  I have multiple delegates, so I have had the "good fortune" to be able to have some of them go bad and still have others to experiment with.
The ones that have gone bad are those where I made a change in iCal and then tried to refresh.
When I made changes on my google calendars I was still able to refresh in iCal and have the change show up.  But as soon as I made a change in iCal, the refresh gave that error message.
Also, I just downloaded the newest OS (OS 5) for my iPod touch (gen. 3).  That was yesterday afternoon.. and yesterday evening is when I first noticed this problem.  I can't imagine it's simply coincidence.
I just discovered one more thing.  Even the calendars that don't work both ways continue to work one way; changes made on Google Calendar continue to show up in iCal, even though the error message shows up that it can't contact the server or has the wrong address.  It's almost like the relationship has turned into "subscriptions" rather than "delegates".
I have restarted my iMac and repaired permissions with no success.

  • ICal - google calendar no SMS or Message with sound

    Hello,
few weeks ago I found that I could not add "Message with sound" alert to my iCal's Google calendar which brings me to no SMS alerts.
Is it anything wrong with my iCal, Google calendars (I can add Message with sound to iCloud calendars) or it is something Apple/Google recently changed?
If I add Message with sound alert using iCal - it automatically disappears. However, if I add SMS alert on Google side I have SMS alerts even if it does not reflect anyhow on the corresponding iCal entry.

  • I recently purchased new Mac Mini with Lion installed. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini.

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini with Lion installed. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini. Everything else syncs great, and iCal syncs from my Mini to my Touch. My Touch has the latest iOS installed. I have tried rebooting my Touch, removing the sync calendars option from iTunes>Info and checking it again after applying and closing iTunes, and restarting my Mini. Any help will be appreciated!

  • Strange errors with iCal - Google calendar syncing.

I use iCal and have it sync to my Google calendar. Recently, when creating a new event, the default alert has been coming up as a random number of minutes (eg. 1540, 1100) before the event. It used to just default to 15mins before the event and you could change the alert easily to something else. Now, when I try to change this strange large number it reverts back to how it started as soon as iCal syncs with google.
This is strange and really annoying. Any ideas?

If I hadn't been using iCal/Google Calendar for over 18 months, with reminders from both systems playing nicely over that period, I'd happily agree with you. The issue with Reminders only began (for me, at least) in February this year. I agree that there's potential for conflict, and maybe both sets of developers finally threw in the towel. This is a pity, because I like both systems, but I feel slightly irritated at being effectively told by Google or Apple that I have to choose sides.

  • ICal & Google calendar

    Hello,
I read on this discussion about people trying to get ical & google calendars subscribing to each other. I tried what was suggested.
In ical I copied and pasted the address in the subscribe box. The address I wanted starts with "https." Ical responds with it doesn't recognize addresses that start with "https." Why not? Does anyone know why? Is there a way around this?
    Thanks!

    Update:
I think I've got a solution I can live with for getting my Toodledo tasks into my iCal calendar.  First of all, I turned on Toodledo calendar subscription and subscribed to the event calendar (Tasks with a date) in iCal.
It's a one-way sync from Toodledo to iCal, but if you want to move the events over to a local calendar in iCal you can shuffle them around.  The iCal events keep the url of the task, so you can easily jump to the task in Toodledo to mark it complete or change details.  If you create a local calendar, you can copy the event from the Toodledo subscript calendar, highlight the local calendar, right click back on the calendar and select paste.  Also, you can use the following Applecript to copy over the events from the Toodledo iCal calendar to your local iCal calendar:
    iCal: Duplicate/Move items between calendars
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20110110144312255
Each time you run the duplicate/move script you build up duplicate items in your local calendar, but you can run this script to cut out the dupes:
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20051217000214536&lsrc=osxh
    or http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter
If you turn on the script menu (in Applescript Editor settings), and drop these in User/Library/Scripts/Applications/iCal (create if needed), they are accessible from iCal with a click of the mouse.  Also, you can edit the scripts to go directly to the "Toodledo iCal" and "Local Toodledo" calendars so the scripts won't prompt you each time.
Good luck & post back with an update if you get it working how you like it!
    Cheers

  • List view in iCal on my iPod touch is corrupted

The 'list view' seems to be all wonky in Calendar on my iPod touch.
The dates for a given day that's displayed don't make sense:
i.e. Sunday Oct. 27 2030 followed by Saturday July 14 2001 followed by Tuesday Jan. 16 2001 are listed in consecutive order instead of today, tomorrow and next day (with correct dates).
Also, the 'events' given for each day listed don't make sense and are often duplicated.
The 'day' and 'month' views however, seem to be ok and not corrupted. The 'list' field in the month view also seems fine ?
Has anybody experienced this ? Very frustrating, since I like the list view.
I make most of my entries/changes to iCal on our main desktop (iMac 24") then sync. to my iPod. The list view seems ok on the desktop.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
ps. not sure if the problem corresponded with an upgrade of the Ipod software to OS 3.1 from 2.x....

  • Adding an event to your iCal on your iPod touch

So...I understand you can sync the iPod touch's iCal with a calendar on your main computer (using Entourage, outlook, or simply iCal.) BUT....can you add events directly into your Ipod touch...and then simply view both calendars at the same time like you can do using iCal on your desktop? Basically, use your Ipod touch as a sort of palm pilot.
Any info on this would be great.

    Steve Minnick wrote:
....can you add events directly into your Ipod touch.
No, you can't do this. Apple have decided that iPod Touch users shouldn't be allowed to add calendar entries and have broken the calendar.
You can let Apple know we want the calendar fixed by filling out the form at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
It only takes a minute and it's the best way we have of telling them we don't want a crippled calendar.

  • ICal duplicates on iPod Touch

I've duplicates syncing with my iCal and iPod Touch.
I use Mobile Me and have also synced using iTunes, including the overwrite option.
    I've reset the ipod too.
    But still got duplicates.
Any ideas? I'm unwilling to restore the ipod.

First I'd like to clarify some nomenclature. I switched from using Now Up-to-Date and Now Contact to iCal and Address Book. In Now Up-to-Date, there was only one Calendar, although you could have miltiple Calendar files with different names. Within a Calendar, you could have many categories of calendar entries which could be customized as to type style (Regular, Bold, Italic, etc. and Color). I had used it for over ten years and during that time had moved several times and lived overseas in two countries. Thus I had on category for Spanish Holidays, another for Portugues Holidays and many others, with a total of about 12 categories.
When I shifted to iCal, I archived all old calendar entries but my new iCal Calendar ended up with 12 sub calendars. I have culled/combined them to the following list: Club Events, Holidays and Birthdays, El Paso events, Medical-Dental, On-Screen Reminders, Special Days, KId's Events, Work, Theater & Entertainment, Travel plus subscriptions to Birthdays (direct from Address Book), Holidays in Spain, and Holidays in Portugal.
That is the description of my iCal Calendar as seen on my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro, automatically synched through Mobile.Me.
On my iPodTouch, I see at the top, All Calendars, then From My Mac, below which is one subcalendar entitled All from My Mac, and below that is [email protected] (MobileMe), followed by all of the subcalendars I have described above.
I would like to get rid of the From My Mac entry so that All Calendars and MobileMe are one and the same. After reading other threads, I have decided the only way to do so is to talk to a MobileMe expert.

  • Lost ical data on ipod touch during sync

Using mac book with snow leopard version 10.6.8.  I closed my mobile me account after it expired.  I am not using the cloud.  When I tried to sync my 2nd gen ipod touch, I lost all my ical data on my touch.  Before deleting mobile me, I exported all my calendar data from mobileme cals and imported all data into new calendars "on my mac".  The only way I could set up new calendars was by setting up a new group.  Don't know if this has anything to do with the problem.  Everything else on touch syncs.  I tried resetting the touch.  I also reset sync history in isync.  Nothing has worked so far.  How can I get my ical data to sync to my touch?

The "Time Zone Support" in settings on the iPod said Cupertino, USA.
I've turned that off now and it seems to have fixed the problem.
NB: There is a note in the settings that says "When off, events will display according to the time zone of your current location."
    Thanks for you help!

  • ICal  syncing with iPOD touch wirelessly

IPOD touch will no longer sync wirelessly with iCAL on my iMAC. No such issues previously.

Same problem here and it's much worse after most recent update for iPod touch. I cannot get ANY entries to iPod Touch to update in iCal nor entries I put into iCal to update to Ipod Touch. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried everything I know to try. Thanks!

  • ICal Google Calendar Subscription not displaying

    Hi guys,
I've recently added two different google calendars by creating subscriptions. Both calendars appeared to be added correctly as all of the calendar description is correct and they appear under the subscriptions bar. I can only view them on my iphone via mobile me.
My problem is this: I can see one of the calendars just fine, but the other one isn't visible to me despite all of the information being present in the calendar information tab. Do you have any ideas why this calendar isn't visible? When I make it a delegate calendar it is visible, but neither of the calendars I added is my principle google calendar. I would much rather have a calendar as a subscription tied into mobile me rather than a delegate calendar. Thanks!

i seem to have the same problem, can you tell me where you set those default settings? in ical ? or google calendar? thanks for help ....

  • ICal + Google Calendar: I can't see iCal events on Google Calendar...

    Hi all
Two partners and myself have started a small business, and we need to be aware of each other's schedules in order to run it successfully, so we have decided to give Google Calendars a bash.
I've added my Google account to iCal so now when I add an event to Google Calendars it shows up in iCal, but not vice versa: in other words, if all my iCal events don't show up in Google Calendars.
I've researched the issues, follow all the steps, etc. but I still can't seem to fix this... Am I doing something wrong?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My understanding is that iCal will not send data to gCal. The forums suggest that the only way to do this at present is to hook up an iPhone to gCal, which does allow a two-way exchange. gCal then sends to iCal. To me, that means that you cannot make entries on your Mac iCal and have them replicated in gCal. So your Mac calendar is effectively 'read-only', and all entries have to be made on an iPhone or on gCal. I'm not sure, but I suspealso that the only way to get your Mac updated is via gCal; possibly synching phone to Mac via iTunes will result in duplicate entries.
As I understand gCal, you have to be online to access it, which is no good if you are on the road (or visiting your mother!). I'm not sure how MobileMe comes into this either; I'm still experimenting and either I get no calendars or multiple duplicate entries!

  • Blackberry, iCal, Google Calendar: Synchronisation help.

    Hi,
I want to be able to synchronise my appointments and engagements between Google Calendar, iCal and my Blackberry Calendar application. So far, I've been able to achieve either iCal to Google or Blackberry to iCal, but not all three.
The problem I have is that Google Calendars only synchronises from the "Google" Calendar on iCal, and that the BB Calendars application needs a calendar to be created under the section "On My Mac" on iCal to be able to sync. The long and short of it is that BB syncs to one calendar on iCal, Google syncs out of another and I can't get the two to line up or consolidate automatically. Is there any way I can set iCal to consolidate all calendars into one automatically, or get the BB to synchronise to the Google calendar, possibly by fooling it into thinking it is under the "On My Mac" section?
    Thanks in advance.
