ICal highlights are too light

Apple, please provide an option to change the highlights for "Today" and the selected day. The current highlight are nearly invisible and indistinguishable. I can't imagine it would be much effort to allow user selectable colors.

yes, thanks... i have done that... i had searched here for info on iCal and other calendaring programs since i've been looking into calendaring programs in the workplace... since i had found fairly little on this subject, i thought i'd just share some observations, if someone else comes here searching for such info...
also i've gone to the apple store to see if someone there could help out with the program and to see the changes to the next version. it's a small datapoint, but there was very little knowledge amoung the store employees. only 2 people had really used it and they were confused about how to do some relatively simple things...
i think iCal has some growing pains to get to the usability of other apple programs, like their mail reader... but i do think they are doing a good job, nonetheless... all the development for the iphone and all the other fronts they are working on is very challenging... so i'm keeping my figers crossed that they can continue to improve iCal along with everythign else...
thanks again for your note-

    Hi
I have a problem with color prints from photoshop elements 12. The pictures are too light and with strange colors. I have a Canon pixma mg615I0 printer and use mac os X yosemite. The pictures are taken with a coanon eos 550d in the color space sRGB. I have followed adobes recommendations and have tried both letting the printer respektive photoshop manage the colors. But nothing works. I see that there are different opinions about which is best to do so I tried both. I have the latest printer driver installed. Can anyone help me with this?

    Do the following:
Print a test page from the printer. Perhaps the print head needs cleaning via its maintenance facility.
Let the printer manage colors, not PSE
    Calibrate the monitor

  • Mf6161dw scans are too light when scanning hand written text

mf6161dw scans are too light when scanning hand written text. I changed from b&w to greyscale, which now makes the text legible. However the text is still medium grey instead of black on my old scanner. Need help or i will have to return it.

    Hi steelcofence.
When scanning handwritten documents, the light from the lamp may reflect on the ink.  Since scanning in greyscale did not return the image quality that you would prefer, I recommend scanning handwritten documents in [Color].

  • How do i get Firefox to print web pages in black and white only (colors are interpreted in grayscale and some are too light to be read)?

i have a black and white laser printer. Firefox prints web pages by sending color images to my printer. The printer uses greyscale to interpret the colors. i really want Firefox to send black and white images to my printer, because with greyscale some of the colors are translated to print that is too light to be seen clearly.
    Can this be done?
    Thanks,
    Chazbo

i just tried disabling adblock and checking if i had any no script or noscript sort of addon. i do not have a script killer. disabling adblock did not solve the issue.

  • Will Blurb correct images that are too light or too dark to print nicely?

I have two calibrated monitors and am submitting a book to Blurb. One monitor  is brighter than the other--, that the images look fine on one and too dark on the other. I could changed the brightness, but how do I knwo which is correct for Blurb?what does Blurb see and do they correct images that are all too dark or too light?

Blurb does not correct anything in the uploaded pictures. This is stated clearly on their website; read up under <Color Management>.
It does not matter at all if your image looks fine on the monitor. What matters is if the color numbers of the image are correct. Blurb will print according to the color numbers.
The color numbers of your image will be displayed correctly on the monitor if it is properly calibrated to the industry standard of 6500 K and a gamma 0f 2.2 and if the intensity (brightness) of the monitor is set correctly.
Do this: calibrate both your monitors and set the target value for brightness (intensity) to a value between 100 - 110 cd/m2. This value is considered correct as it will give you prints that match the monitor in brightness.
The best test for checking for how images will look in a blurb book is this: Print the images as sRGB on your own printer. You can do this in two ways:
    a) Export the image as JPG in sRGB in the size it will be printed. You can do this from the Book Module, Re-import it into Lr and print from Lr.
    b) Don't export the image just print from Lr by selecting <Managed by printer> as the profile and set your printer to sRGB.

  • Lightroom output prints are too light

I have to make 30-40 prints for a project and decided to try the Lightroom print module. The prints will be output from existing layered psd master files, most of which are in either a ProPhoto or Colormatch color space.
I imported a folder of master files into LR and opened one up in the print module. On the up side: I love the LR interface, the ease of going through the check list (seems easier and less confusing than the print box in photoshop), the ease of adding custom text (very handy for captions!), and I ESPECIALLY love checking the box to center the print and actually having it centered properly in the output print (unlike needing to monkey with the "left=" numbers or visually play with the location of the image on the page in the CS2 or CS3 print box). Its been a big pain for the last few years in CS2 to never quite have the darn thing centered when printing on my Epson 2200. I was thrilled that in LR the centering actually worked!
On the down side to printing in LR (and this is a BIG down): the prints are a good full stop lighter than the ones I print from CS2 or CS3. When printing from CS2 or CS3, with a profiled monitor and use of the proper printing profile, I get pretty close to WYSIWYG most of the time. I'm getting WYSIWYG in Lightroom (the output print DOES look like the monitor), but what I see in the print module window is a good full stop lighter than what my imported master files look like when opened and printed from photoshop. And the LR print comes out correspondingly lighter.
For final output printing of art or presentation prints, I generally will want to use a layered, polished, file that I have tinkered with in photoshop. LR still does not have enough features to do everything I need to create that kind of final print or delivery file.
So my question: why the mismatch between the appearance of a master file in CS2/CS3 and LR? Is there any way to correct this? I would love to use LR to output my prints, but as it is its not a good idea.
One last thing: I have been a big fan of PhotoKit Sharpener both for capture sharpening and for output sharpening. Is there a way to use it in a LR workflow? I'm particularly interested in using the output sharpener for prints, which is wonderful and has always done a great job.
Thanks for any feedback or insight.
Info background: I am using a dual 2GHz G5 PowerPC with 3.5 GB ram, running OS 10.4.10, using LR 1.1, as well as photoshop CS2 and CS3, printing with an Epson 2200.

    Jeff et al:
I did as you advised, and imported another folder of layered master files into LR. The first folder that I imported I had used the "none" development preset. On the second imported folder I used the "Zeroed" preset as per your suggestion.
The first ones were too light, but the second ones were a significantly better match. I have to say the image as viewed in the LR window is very close, although still not identical, to the image as viewed in Photoshop. For some reason the LR has a slightly more yellow cast, while the original in Photoshop is a bit more magenta. I made two prints from the same image, one via LR and the other via Photoshop, and you can see the same respective yellow or magenta cast in the prints. The LR print is also slightly muddier (but only marginally).
I read on another thread started by John Vitollo called "Anyway to turn off 'Apply Auto Tone Adjustments' with Tiffs + PSDs?" that John was also having problems with PSDs appearing too light in LR. Lee Jay told him to turn off the "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" in the Edit > Preferences > Presets (top box). I found that this option was enabled for all of the instances above, so my guess is that "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" overrides "none" in the development module pull down menu during import... Don't know if this is something that needs to be fixed...?
In any case, given that I have successfully printed 10 images in Photoshop, for this particular project I will probably continue printing in PS so as to be able to match the tone and formatting. For future I will try to figure out printing in LR, but as of now I can't see any particular advantage to printing in the LR print module (except for the nice centering feature). When I imported and copied my layered master files into LR, it took a verrrrrry long time, and wasn't worth the time investment. Also am not sure what's causing this slight color shift, and don't want to invest in making a lot of prints till I can sort that out.
Any additional suggestions or comments are welcome.
    Many thanks,

  • My bookmark seperators in a newer version of Firefox are too light. I seem to remember in older versions they were much darker. How can I make them dark again. Now I can hardly see the seperator.

How can I make the bookmark separators dark? They are very light and I can hardly see them. I seem to remember that in older versions of FireFox they were much darker and easier to see.

On an older 1.5GHz PowerPC G4 mac, and on a
newer iMac 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
both running OSX10.5.8, and using the default FF 3.6.6 theme.
The separator lines are so faint as to be not there, giving the impression of just a big gap in the menu being displayed.

  • ICal highlight color too dim

I can barely see the pale color of the iCal cell for the date.  I remember this being a problem for a long time with iCal.  You can't see the highlight color in the day cell.  I have the same problem with the search or find.  The highlight color is so pale it is hard to find in a page of text.
I vaguely remember there was a way to darken that color in terminal, but I don't remember any details.
Can someone help fix this.  This is a bug that Apple seems to ignore year after year.
    Thanks

I have a similar problem with iCal, and always have. It uses light grey on a white background for days and hours. Can't see the days well, but especially the hours, can't discriminate those at all.  Am not sure why more people haven't complained, or why this hasn't been fixed before this.
Maybe it doesn't show up on iMac's which have their own monitors built in. I use a MacMini, with a Samsung monitor. Have played with the Samsung monitor's settings, but can't fix the problem that way either.
Did check my Contrast setting in System Prefs, and it's Normal, and all the way to the left.
I think Apple needs to fix this. I'm not sure there's anything the end user can do.

  • Imported JPEG images are too light

Imported JPEG images appear lighter/brighter than the scanned image.
How can I make JPEG images appear with the correct lightness/brightness so they look like the actual book or magazine from which they were scanned?
Using Apple's "Preview" to look at a JPEG- everything looks fine. But when a JPEG is imported into Motion 4.0.3 (and/or Final Cut Pro 7.0.3), the image appears lighter/brighter, as if it's washed out. To see if this is just the way a JPEG appears in Motion and not how the finished product will be, I exported a Motion project with one or more JPEGs as a QuickTime movie. The QuickTime movie does not bring the JPEG image(s) back to the "correct" lightness/brightness as the scanned image.
    Settings used:
JPEG image, using a CanoScan LiDE 210 scanner, Color Space: RGB, Color Profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1, current Monitor Gamma setting on the scanner is set to 1.80
How can I make JPEG images appear in Motion (and Final Cut Pro) so they are true to the source from which they were scanned?

Does it do the same thing when you use TIFFs?

  • Lightroom4 prints are too light

I have documented the lighter print output from LR 4 a while back and have been waiting for someone at Adobe to notice and offer some solution to this problem. I use a robust printing workflow and have done the experiments under very carefully controlled conditions. The same photograph printed from PS CS5, PS CS6, LR3 all look the same and the print from LR4 is a good deal lighter, probably 1.5-2 stops in exposure terms. This is a problem that seems specific to LR4 and has persisted over several updates. Could someone from Adobe address this question please.

In case any Adobe staff read this thread, I am updating with more information. I have uninstalled LR3 and LR4 altogether. Just to eliminate another hypothesis, I printed the same image after uninstalling LR3 using LR4. There was no change from the earlier prints I had made.
I reinstalled LR4 with no plugins or add ons. Then printed the same image from LR4 and then Photoshop CS6. The print from LR4 was noticeably lighter with a little shift to magenta. I have scanned the prints with no adjustments in the scanner or afterwards other than cropping to eliminate the white border. I am attaching 4 images, LR4 screen capture and Photoshop screen capture of the image. They look identical as they should. Then, LR4 print scan and Photoshop 6 print scan both of them a little darker than they look under daylight balanced viewing light. As you will see, tonality and colors of the PS6 print is the same as either screen capture (with some mental adjustment to account for the darker scan of both). However, the LR4 print is a good deal lighter than either screen capture or the PS6 print.
I don't know what else I can do.
    Here are the images:

When my scans are received by someone else they are a pale gray. How & where can I change them to black and save the setting?

    Hi steelcofence.
When scanning handwritten documents, the light from the lamp may reflect on the ink.  Since scanning in greyscale did not return the image quality that you would prefer, I recommend scanning handwritten documents in [Color].

  • 3D Rendering - The lines are too light

I've just reinstalled Acrobat 7.0 Standard onto this computer and now whenever I convert a 3D rendering into a pdf the drawings lines are so faint they are barely visible. The border and the text are fine, just the rendering itself is messed up. I know there is a setting somewhere to fix this but I just can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Under the printer properties of the Adobe PDF printer, select the layout tab, Advanced options. Change the print quality to 300 or 600 dpi, not the default 1200.

  • Photo correction: too light and too dark

I have imported ~ 2,000 photos into Lightroom 5.6.  The files are PNG format from MS Picture It.  Some photos are too light and some are too dark.
I tried synchronizing the metadata thinking this would make the photos more alike.  Some are improved, but I still have many that are too light or too dark.
Short of editing each photo, is there an easy way to make the photos more uniform in brightness.
    Thanks

Try using Quick Develop in the Library where the adjustments are relative.
For example the inner pair of arrows for highlights or whites adds or subtracts in increments of 5 and the outer arrows in increments of 20. You can see the changes in the history panel by then going into Develop.
So rather than using sync in the Develop module which applies the same absolute setting to every image the changes in quick develop will be relative to the original condition of the photo.
Try experimenting by selecting a batch of thumbnails and applying Quick Develop settings.
Alternatively sort your images into batches using collections where the original lighting is broadly similar. Then select all (Ctrl+A) in each collection and apply the adjustments to each batch, until you get everything broadly similar.
