ICal Home calendar missing

About a week or so ago, my iCloud iCal Home calendar went missing.  It doesn't show up under iCloud at all on any of my devices (iMac, MacBook, iPad or iPhone.   I've gone through some of the solutions recommended for getting retrieving calendars, but no luck.
This calendar had a lot of data in it.  How can I get it back?

If you have a device backup on icloud, then the following link describes what to do to restore data.  This link talks of Contacts, but the same pertains to calendars.  The trick is to prevent the newly restored data from being wiped by an icloud sync, so pay attention to the stuff about disconnecting the router from the web.

  • ICal home calendar won't sync after iOS 5 -- Snow Leopard

Since I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, my desktop computer's iCal home calendar is no longer syncing events from the iPhone. I'm running Snow Leopard, so I know the desktop computer can't sync through the cloud. But shouldn't it still be getting new events from the iPhone itself when the iPhone syncs with the desktop, same as it used to before iCloud?

Try something very simple first. Quit iTunes, reboot the Mac and restart the iPad. Then try again.
I had some issues when I first installed SL on my last MacBook, and I still have issues every now and then with the iPad not being recognized (now running Lion 10.7.3 on a new MacBook Pro) and this has always worked for me. You may have to reboot the Mac a couple of times - but try it and see if it works for you.

  • ICal changing home calendar color on its own

I use a MacBook Pro laptop running OSX 10.7.5. I have iCal on my laptop and iPhone and back up to iCloud. My calendars have been running flawlessly for several years. Today, all of a sudden and without my doing anything, the color of my home calendar changed from red (which it has been for at least two years) to blue. Reminders changed from blue (where they have been for some time) to orange. All other calendars stayed their correct colors.
I changed the colors back to their original colors, and within 10 minutes they had changed back again.
I quit iCal, restarted my computer, and changed the colors again when I got iCal back up. Within a few minutes they were back (to blue for home and orange for reminders). It's not a big deal, but just annoying. Why would this happen?

I have the same problem. It is really frustrating. I use iCal in a small office with 5 people. How can we make time management if everybody has the same colour. I found not solution in the Internet as well as on Apple Support. If somebody has an answer. Please let me know.

  • ICal birthday calendar from Tiger missing after upgrade

    Hi,
I recently upgraded from Tiger to 10.6.7 Leopard.  I noticed that iCal did not import my Birthday's calendar that I had manually created in Tiger.  None of my birthdays show up except for one when I select "show birthday calendar" in iCal preferences.  I have done the following:
Removed from Leopard and replaced with my Tiger data the following:
    com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
    com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
    com.apple.iCal.plist
I have also removed the iCal folder in the Application Support folder in my Library.  After I did this I reopened iCal.
That didn't work so I tried removing the Calendars folder from my Library and reopened iCal to no avail.
I also rebooted into Tiger on my external to verify that the missing "birthday' calendar is still there, and it is.
I tried backing it up when I was in Tiger, than rebooting in Leopard and tried importing the backup to no avail also.
    Any other suggestions?
Edit:  The calendar that I had created "Birthdays" does show up under "On my Mac", but the actual birthdays are nowhere to be found.

The birthdays for the iCal birthday calendar are taken from your address book
You will need to have one contact page and one birthday in your address book for each person.
Otherwise enter the names onto the correct dates in iCal and set them to repeat each year which is what I have done. I run couples and families in my address book.. Most of the Grandkids don't have their own pages

  • In ical why does my wife get an email everytime I update our home calendar but when she makes changes I don't?

I have shared a calendar with my wife aptely called "Home" to which every time I update or rearrange something she gets an email, I understand that this is quite useful for informing her of any changes but when she makes changes I receive no notifications/email. The problem I/she has is that when updating especially on the mac I change alot of things very quickly and she ends up with a flooded inbox informing her of small changes such as I've changed the time by half an hour or maybe a spelling has changed, does anybody out there know how to turn off the emails, we both regulary check the notifications bar on our ios devices and can see whats planned for the day etc so why burden the servers in the sky sending one way emails?? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated guys

OK, I don't have the exact same problem, but here are a few things you could try.
    1. Go to www.icloud.com and login. Select your calendar from the icons and you will then see the cogwheel in the top right corner. Click on it and enter your settings. Under ADVANCED, there is a tick box saying "Send me a copy of event invitations and updates"
    2. On the shared calendar on the left hand side of the calendar you are in, it should show a list of your calendars. The shared ones are green whilst the others are just white/transparent - Click on the green one of the calendar that is being shared (The clarify, this needs to be done within your wifes icloud, not yours and she needs to click your "Home" calendar green bit). This opens up the Tick box "Email me when this calendar changes" - deselect this.
    Good luck.
For what its worth, here is my problem. I keep getting invitations for all my girlfriends new appointments. They are coming up in the same invitations box that you get notified in when someone invites you to a lunch where you select reject, accept etc. But these just have an OK select button. I can't seem to find anything that rectifys this, and it has only happened since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, but my girlfriend has not.
There is nothing on the web to describe this problem so far and I have gone through every setting trying to rectify it. If anyone can help on this one, that'd be great.

  • Sync Home calendars and work calendars

I've been using iCloud to sync my home calendars from my personal computer running 10.8 but I would like also to sync over the clouds the work calendars I have in the office however the only way to do it would be to disable the iCloud calendar sync on the phone and then via iTunes merge the calendars.
But of course when you re-enable iCloud on the phone the new calendars will disappear.
Is there a way to merge Home and Office on the cloud and keep them sync?
Most of the work calendars are already from an iCal server.
    thanks
    A.

Disable the iCloud calendar, then import your work calendar.  Then export each of your work caledars by selecting them one at a time and going to File>Export>Export and save these on your desktop.  Next, re-enable your iCloud calendars.  Now create new calendars with the same name of each of your work calendars in iCloud by going to File>New Calendar>iCloud.  Now import one of your work calendars to the corresponding calendar you created in iCloud by going to File>Import>Import, selecting the .ics file and choose the iCloud calendar to import it to.  Repeat this for your remaining work calendars and they should all now be in iCloud.

  • Home Calendar not syncing

I hope someone can help please...
My home calendar does not sync to my ipod nano though all others do. I have tried just selecting Home and also selecting "sync all" in Preferences with no success.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

You are accessing your Exchange account on your iPhone via ActiveSync, which Apple licensed from Microsoft for the iPhone and which is included for accessing an Exchange account in the same way with the Mail.app, the Address Book, and iCal on a Mac with Snow Leopard, so I'm not sure why your IT guy laughs at this when you are doing the very same with your iPhone. ActiveSync is secure, or as secure as Microsoft is able to make it. Does anyone at your company use a Windows laptop and if so, are they unable to access their Exchange account with Outlook on their Windows laptop via ActiveSync when traveling or when away from the office? If they are allowed to do this, it would be no different on a Mac running Snow Leopard and would be more secure than a Windows PC doing the same.
What did you use on your Mac to capture or sync this data on your Blackberry with the Address Book and iCal?

  • Junk mail appears in Home calendar

When Mail processes incoming e-mails as 'junk' they appear as Events and ToDo's in iCal's Home calendar. I can delete this folder but it is recreated and repopulated as soon as new junk mail exists. I would appreciate any help stopping this behaviour.
    Thanks

That's not an easy question to answer.
In today's batch, the ToDo's are all 02-Mar-07. The dates for the events correspond to the dates on which the emails were sent (26-FEb-07 and 27-Feb-07 for today's lot). With one exception, all the events are one minute long.
Both the ToDo's and the events are assigned to a new 'Home' calendar. This is the one that I can delete.

  • Home calendar network

I would like to set up a home calendar network visible and updatable on three home computers connected. Two of the computers have different .mac accounts. The other computer has none.
What is the best way to do this? Can I use .mac publishing/synchronization when it involves different .mac accounts?

I have a similar setup - each user gets their own calendar which is published to a WebDAV server (the server is in the home network for privacy) their iCal is set to publish after each change. Each user also subscribes to everyone elses calendars (set to update every time they open iCal) it keeps everybody fairly up to date - I also lets the powerbook users see what's up even when they are offsite - they can make changes and sync up when the get back. Could be done with .Mac as well but would generate lots of traffic - just publish and subscribe - each publisher must have access to a .Mac account (I only have one account and all computers/users have the same account setup for publishing purposes but are restricted from other uses so it does not get too messed up.)

  • HT4968 My "Home" calendar only appears on my Mac and not the Cloud even though "Home" is checked in all places.

My "Home" calendar only appears on my Mac and not the Cloud. If I uncheck "home on my mac" all events disappear even though it's still checked on the iCloud calendars.

(unless you already have one) Create a new empty calendar from the iCal file menu, select which account you want to create it in.
If you have only a few appointments you can move them individually by editing them and changing the calendar in the edit options.
Alternatively you can copy all the appointments in one calendar to another and delete the original.
To copy a calendar ctrl-click on it from the menu that appears when you select the calendar button (top left corner of iCal) and choose export (export it to your desktop for ease)
Double click the exported file and choose the new empty calendar to import them into.
Ctrl-click on the original calendar from the menu that appears when you select the calendar button and choose delete.

  • Some iCal Subscription Calendars disappeared in iCal, but events still show up?

    Hi there,
Here's my situation as simply as possible. I'm on Lion 10.7.4. Some iCal Subscription Calendars disappeared on my iMac iCal, but the events still show up.
    1. On iCal on my iMac:
         - I have 10 subscription calendars, but now only 6 show up.  --> (Herein lies the issue)
         - Events from the 4 missing calendars still show up.
    2. iPhone:
         - has all 10 subscription calendars
         - has all events showing up
    3. iPad:
        - has all 10 subscription calendars
         - has all events showing up
Does anyone know of an official workaround for this issue? What is the best approach to handling this issue?
    thanks!

Exact same issue here. Individual events deleted from a recurring appointment continue to show up in Calendar (OS X 10.8.2).  Same events do not show up on calendar if viewed via outlook from my desk PC or view outlook web app from anywhere.
    Clearly a bug.

  • ICal/Google Calendar no longer sync since April 23 2011

In the last week of April iCal/Google calendar sync has quit working.  When trying to sync the iCal and the Google.  The message I get is that  "iCal found the CalDAV server 'www.google.com', but couldn't log in with the user name "XXXXXX". Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then try again.  I originally noticed the bouncing iCal icon about April 23-24 and at the time it said that the account [email protected] could not update. I re-entered the information for the account and it still ddid not update.  I deleted the account on iCal hoping that a re-enter of all the information would get things up and running and it has not.
I have looked over the available responses to similar problems and none of them have made any difference.
    Please always include:
    Mac OS X 10.6.7
Program and version you use to access Google Calendar (e.g. Internet Explorer 7 or Outlook 2003):  Safari 5.0.5 (6533.21.1) and Google Chrome 11.0.696.57 and iCal Version 4.0.4 (1395.7)
I also cannot set up the account on the iPad (I was hoping to do so as a work around).  Interestingly enough, my wife who subscribes to my Google Calendar as a delegate still gets the updates and things are working for her on her iMac using iCal.

There is a big discussion on this topic on the google calendar forum: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=7f08411ae09ca8da&hl=en
    As I wrote there:
I'm suffering the same, but I have some more information about it.  I have multiple delegates, so I have had the "good fortune" to be able to have some of them go bad and still have others to experiment with.
The ones that have gone bad are those where I made a change in iCal and then tried to refresh.
When I made changes on my google calendars I was still able to refresh in iCal and have the change show up.  But as soon as I made a change in iCal, the refresh gave that error message.
Also, I just downloaded the newest OS (OS 5) for my iPod touch (gen. 3).  That was yesterday afternoon.. and yesterday evening is when I first noticed this problem.  I can't imagine it's simply coincidence.
I just discovered one more thing.  Even the calendars that don't work both ways continue to work one way; changes made on Google Calendar continue to show up in iCal, even though the error message shows up that it can't contact the server or has the wrong address.  It's almost like the relationship has turned into "subscriptions" rather than "delegates".
I have restarted my iMac and repaired permissions with no success.

  • How do I keep my home calendar events from showing up in my work calendar (outlook)? I have my work e-mail on my phone and need to see the work calendar but I don't want personal appointments showing up on it, like drs. appointments, soccer games etc.

I want to keep my home and work calendars separate but be able to look at both on my phone. I don't want my personal appointments and events to show up on my work calendar, although it's fine if work events show up on my home calendar.  When I delete a personal appointment from my work calendar in Outlook, it disappears from my home calendar on my phone. I just want it to disappear from my work calendar!. FYI, I have my work and personal e-mail accounts on my phone.
Thanks for any help/advice you can offer!

When you say "use the same purchasing apple ID for both to share books/music apps"- will this allow him to see what apps I download on his ipod (don't want)? will this allow me to continue to see what apps/games he gets on his ipod, on my phone (do want)? and do I set those changes on both devices?
    To do this:
iPhone: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads:
         Music: ON
         Apps: ON
         Books: ON
iPod: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads:
now you decide what he gets automatically.
He doesn't use game center, imessage, facetime or anything else (mainly just games, music and picture taking)- so does he really need his own apple id and email address? also- if he wants to start getting text messages, would i still have access to all of them if he has his own apple id? would i have access to them if he stays on my apple id?
Then he doesn't need an Apple ID.
    Switch in
    Settings > Messages >
         iMessage: OFF
Send & Receive > Apple ID: > sign out
Settings > FaceTime > FaceTime: OFF

  • ICal events are missing Day and Month in date

Hello, Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere - this is such a weird fault I was not sure how to search for it.
My iCal events are missing the Day and Month in their start and end dates - it just shows a 4 digit year which can only be edited as a 4 digit number. All my events are in their correct places but I am unable to create new multiday events.
This applies to old and new events alike. I tried trashing my iCal prefs file but it made no difference.
Anyone any ideas? I am using iCal 3.0.8 on Leopard 10.5.8.
    Thanks in advance.

Worked it out - I was using a custom date format to give me day and date in the menu bar - reverting to one of the standard built in 'British' works - but then I lose my day in the menu bar....

  • Can I set all existing events in a ICal Server calendar to 'private'?

I am consolidating my calendar histories. I have been able to get everything in my iCal Server calendar. But what I'd like to do is set all events before a certain date to 'private' as public/private has been lost for all items. I do want them in the iCal Server and not in a local client side calendar.
Is there a way to do this?

    Hi, Trevor!
Did you consult the online DOM documentation for something like that?
    I found the following:
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
Using AnnotRichMedia instead of media could be the key. Since media seems to be outdated, deprecated or something…
I'm out in the dark like you are with Acrobat and JS. Just consulted some of my bookmarks pointing at the SDK of Acrobat.
    Some dummy-code:
    var myRichMediaObjects = myDoc.getAnnotsRichMedia(nPage);
    Properties of AnnotRichMedia object:
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
    for(var n=0;n<myRichMediaObjects.length;n++){
    myRichMediaObjects[n].activated = false;
Don't know much about the DOM here. Maybe there is no length property for the object that is returned by getAnnotsRichMedia() ??
    Did not try anything.
    Uwe
