ICal: How do I Forward a Meeting Request

Hey Guys,
How do I forward an Exchange 2007 meeting request that I didn't send to somebody else?
I can't seem to find it.
It is missing a rather simple feature.

Right click (control-click) the event and choose Mail Event from the pop-up menu

  • HT2513 How can I forward a meeting request in iCal from my iPad or iPhone?

I can do this in iCal on my iMac but not my iPhone or iPad. This is critical since I travel often. Is there an app or upgrade that takes care of this problem? I use MS exchange on my pc at work and this is what it is synching with. Any help appreciated.

There is an app that allows this - called Forward My Meeting.  It allows you to forward any meeting in your calendar from the iPhone or iPad.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • HT2513 How do you forward a meeting invite in ical?

In Outlook, you can forward a meeting invite,I can't seem to find the function in ical.  Can anyone help?

    Possibly,
Looking at iCal version 4, open iCal Help, and after being connected to the server, you will see 'Inviting Guests to an event'. Click on that for information, and also at the bottom of that window in Related topics, is the topic, 'Setting your email address so you can send or modify your event invitations'. That link may also be useful.

  • Forward a meeting request BCC grayed out. Outlook 2010.

Any help on this one would be great. I open a calendar item and choose forward. I click the Options tab and within the Show Fields area BCC and From are grayed out. What I'm using is below
    Office 365 - Outlook 2010
    Windows 7 x64
    Lenovo T430
    CJ

If you are sending a newly created meeting list, add them as resources - delete the names from the location field and type something there (or leave the real resources, if using any). If you leave the names in the location field, people will see them - and if
you leave it blank, outlook will add them back. More information and screenshots are at

if you forward the meeting as an internet ical, its sent as an attachment that the recipient opens and saves. This can be Bcc'd because its a normal message with an attachment.

  • Forwarded meeting request shows as 'sent on behalf'

When a user forwards a meeting request to someone else it shows as 'sent on behalf'. This means when the recipient replies it goes to the original meeting organizer.
Is there any way to prevent this or is this by design? Can we disable it for certain users/mailboxes?

    Hello,
This is by design in Outlook. When we use Outlook 2010 or newer to forward a meeting to someone that was not originally invited to the meeting, Outlook sends a meeting forward notification to the meeting organizer. And it will show "Send on Behalf"
of the original meeting organizer. If you want it to not show "Send on Behalf", you'll need to grant the user who is going to forward the meeting SendAs permission for the meeting organizer's mailbox.
If you want to prevent users from forwarding a meeting, you can try using IRM to restrict users from forwarding emails. See:

  • Cannot accept Meeting Request updates on iPhone

    Hi,
When I am working at a client's account, I am sending or forwarding important meeting requests to my private mail.
Then, when I open that mail account on my iPhone, and open the meeting request mail, I can scroll to the bottom and see a 'mime-attachment.ics'.
When I click on this, I see the Event Details. And the bottom of my screen reads 'Add To Calendar'.
    This works well.
When I update the meeting request at my client's account, I'll get a new mail from there in my private mail.
But when I open it on my iPhone and scroll to the 'mime-attachment.ics' and click on that, I will see the Event Details, but only Delete Event shows at the bottom.
When I click on that, the meeting is gone from my calendar.
    I expected an 'Update Event'.
    Help!

    I accidently solved this problem.
When you put an invitation for a meeting in your mailbox on your iPhone, you can click on the attachment to view that meeting and ADD it to your (iPhone) calendar.
But when the meeting is updated (e.g. to another date), you get another mail with attachment on your iPhone, but when you click on the attachment you will view the (old) meeting and can only choose to DELETE that (not update).
But... and here it comes... Once you get back in the mail again, after you've deleted the old meeting, and click again on the meeting attachment, you will view the updated meeting and can choose ADD to your calendar.
That's it. Problem solved (in two steps).

  • Meeting Request Default Behavior

    Hi,
I am not sure that this is a issue or default behavior of meeting request in outlook, please suggest the best one.
"When a Meeting attendee FWDs a message to another attendee of the same meeting and that attendee replies, the reply comes from the meeting originator not the attendee that FWD the message."
    Regards Sunny Chauhan

    Hi,
Agreed. For the meeting request forward, it is by default that the user who forwards the meeting request is only on behalf of the organizer.
When the meeting request is forwarded, the meeting organizer will receive a Meeting Forward Notification mail from the user forwarding the meeting request at the same time.
    Best regards,

  • Ical meeting requests and outlook

    Hi All,
I need your help. we have a mixed network of PC (XPP) and 30 newly deployed Mac's (OSX10.5).
iCal to iCal meeting requests are fine.
iCal to Entourage meeting requests are fine
iCal to Outlook meeting requests don't work.
As we are wanting to move Mac users away fro Entourage we are motivated to resolve this issue.
when an iCal meeting request is sent to an Outlook recipient, they receieve an email with 2 empty attachments, and a note that states that to accept this meeting, they must click on the link below; although, there is NO link for the user to click on.
Outlook and Entourage are working thru Exchange Server 2003. iCal is (presently) working off local installs. iCal Server is due for operation in a few weeks.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

There are several discussions regarding this same topic on the Apple forums and elsewhere. None of them have solved the problem. This seems to be an issue that has been around for a long time but never addressed by Apple or Microsoft. From some simple tests that I have done, it appears the the Microsoft Exchange Server is not interpreting the iCal event (.ics extension) properly. I have seen discussions saying that Apple is not formatting the event properly or is using a newer standard that MS Exchange does not support. I believe it is the later as I can make the event work properly without any software changes but I have to do some steps manually. Here is how I can make it work and why I believe something is wrong in MS Exchange:
    - create event in iCal and add an Outlook user
    - send the event/email (ignore this email on the PC as it does not work)
    - open the just sent email and save the attached iCal event
    - find the saved iCal event and add a letter to the extension such as ".icss"
    - (Note: I don't know if there is a way to rename an attachment already in a message)
    - attach this renamed event to a new message and send it to the Outlook user
    - the Outlook user must open the message, save the attachment and rename it back to ".ics"
    - double clicking / opening this renamed file now works perfectly in Outlook
Now, if I could only automate some of these steps on the Mac before I send the message would be very helpful. This is not a great solution but I use it for events that I want to sync between my home Mac and my office PC.
Because the renamed attachment (.icss) works through Exchange (by ignoring it), I am lead to believe that MS Exchange will interpret an ".ics" extension and mess up the handling of it for some reason. Microsoft is never one to follow standards very carefully or adopt them very quickly. Our company is using Exchange 2003 so maybe that is part of the problem as it is an older version.

  • HT2513 On Lion, how do I set which account the "event"/meeting request is sent from?

how do I set which account the "event"/meeting request is sent from?  I have several accounts and currently iCal is sending all requests from my apple email (personal) account. This is bad!

    Christopher Graham wrote:
Can he not just go into each account and set the default for each account the same "sent from" address?
No you can't.  If you're in one account, and you create a new message, it defaults to the account you're in.  If you create an email outside of the mail app, you can set a default account to send from.  Andygoodyear has the correct instructions for that.

  • ICloud/iCal meeting request does not work

I currently use iCal/iCloud on my Lion MacBook Pro.
In the past, using MobileMe, I would be able to send meeting requests to WinTel/Exchange recipients. The email that the recipient would receive gave them the options to accept, decline or Tentative. These were always useless and misleading options as choosing on these did nothing to add to the recipients calendar. It was only a way to notify me, the sender, of their response. The recipient would have to take the additional step of double clicking on the attached .ics file to add to their calendar.  If the recipient did not choose one of the three options but double clicked on the .ics file, I was never notified of their response.
But things have gotten worse with iCloud. Now, the recipient receives the same email, with the three options that now do nothing, but when the recipient double clicks on the .ics file, it shows that the recipient is the creator of the event and cannot add to their calendar or modify. THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE REQUEST.
I just had a Chat with support and was informed that any recipient that I want to send a meeting request to MUST have an iCloud account and have the panel installed. This is not only cumbersome but in most cases not doable. Some of my meeting requests are to recipients in corporate environments and have restrictions on sites and apps.
How is Apple to be taken serious in the business environment with these types of restrictions?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Thank you for your quick feedback.  Maybe my situation is a  little different, since I am on an Exchange 2010 server myself.  My "accepted" does not even get mailed out. And when I receive an "accepted" mail, iCal and/or the server do not recognize it.
I talked to the Apple support yesterday on their hotline and they claimed they never heard about it. Whereas our IT department, who is in charge for many thousand users, is also in touch with Apple directly and says that they have several users with this issue....
Anyway, did you activate in both iCal and Mail.app that calendar data are retrieved automatically?
Below some screen shots. Since I have all these issues, I have turned it OFF, you might need to turn this ON.
