ICal Imported Events Don't Appear in One Calendar

Hi,
I'm transferring data off my old Powerbook G4 with OS 10.4.11 to my new Macbook Pro with Lion 10.7.3, and I'm having a problem with importing iCal data.
When I did an iCal database backup import, 8 out of my 9 calendars seemed to be coming through, but one was not showing up at all in any view. So...
I tried to exporting this single calendar into Dropbox and importing it into my new computer's iCal. This attempt gave me an error something like "iCal can't read this file, no data has been transferred." So...
I tried a trick I read about, opening the .ics file in TextEdit, then changing the extension to .vcs and changing the second line Version:2.0 number to Version: 1.0. This only got some of the events into the new iCal, but definitely not all and with seemingly random results - some reapeating events missing, some one-time events, etc.
This is a real problem for me, as I do reference past events a lot. I can't get rid of the old stuff and move forward until I've shifted ALL of my data over, and many events from this calendar are missing.
Does anyone know what's up? Any fixes for this issue?

After 3.5 hours on the phone with applecare, I believe this problem of not syncing ical from ipod touch to the ical app is resolved. Here are the steps that made it happen for me:
Log out of main account and log into root account. If you haven't set up the root user yet follow the directions in your Mac Help on your computer. Make sure you understand the implications of setting up the root user account. You may want to disable the root user after you are done with this fix.
In Finder, navigate to /Users/(your account)/Library/Application Support and delete every folder in the Application Support directory that has the word 'Sync' in the folder's name.
Log out of the root account and back into your main account. Sync your ipod touch / iphone and see if this worked for you.

ICal / iPhone sync problems - events don't appear in iCal

I have MobileMe set up on both my MacBook and iPhone. All iCal-created events now appear on my iPhone (although only those after 9th May 2008; none before), but if I create an event on my iPhone then it doesn't show up on iCal. If I check MobileMe on the internet, my web-based version of iCal has all events, including those that I create on the iPhone.
On iCal I have two calendar types: Home (Blue) and Work (Green). On my iPhone there are now four types, for some reason: two Homes (both Blue) and two Works (both Green). I have tried experimenting by creating events in all calendars, but none sync to appear in iCal on my MacBook.

All-Day Events Don't Appear in Calendar of Today Theme on Verizon 8330 Curve

I have a new Verizon 8330 Curve synchronized with my Outlook desktop calendar.
Using the BB Today Theme, only those calendar events lasting less than one day -- one hour, 15 minutes, etc. -- appear under the calendar on the home screen. No all-day events appear on the home screen.
The Today theme apparently does not recognize all-day events.
This is not acceptable. I have plenty of all-day events in the calendar that ought to be appearing on the home screen, alongside 15-minute events, when they're coming up next.
The Verizon tech people are totally perplexed by this, saying they've not heard of such an issue. They think there may be a problem with the Curve device, and they're sending me a new one.
However, I've seen a fair amount of discussion online concerning this quirk, so it seems like there's a bona fide synchronization problem between the Blackberry calendar/theme and Outlook as it pertains to all-day events.
Could somebody from Blackberry please weigh in with a definitive solution? I can't be the only guy in America who care about the fact that birthdays, anniversaries, etc. are not appearing on the BB home screen under the Today theme.

I take it then you don't have a memory problem. Just to clarify, your events on the calendar are fine, it's just the display
on the home screen where they disappear?
Have you tried a battery pull to reset all options? Pill the battery from the phone while it is ON, leave it out for about a
minute and replace. Leave the system completly reboot 1-2 minutes and see if the problem continues. This is a common fix on these forums.

ICal displaying events that last more than one day?

Can I change the way iCal displays an event lasting many days (particularly in the Month view)? For example, if I put in a vacation lasting 1 week, or a conference lasting 3 days.
I would just like it to look the way it does on my iPad, iPhone, or Google Calendar. These all display events with a labeled, colored bar spanning the days (the iPhone has dots).
Hopefully this is just a simple setting change....

I use the following settings:
1. One Subform that has:
- Type: Flow content
- Dir: Top to Bottom
- "Allow page breaks" checked
- "Repeat subform .." NOT checked
2. Within that I have two subforms:
A. One is used as a one-time header:
- Type: Position content
B. Used as the repeating data:
- Type: Flow content
- Dir: Western Text
- "Allow page breaks" checked
- "Repeat Subform ..." checked
- Min count=1, Max not checked
With those settings the table data is spanned across several pages.

Events don't appear in sequence

iPhoto doesn't appear consistent with where it places photos in the main window. With my oldest photos at the top of the window and my latest at the bottom, it suddenly placed my December photo stream amongst those some ten years old! I've noticed inconsistencies like this before. In fact, when iPhoto first opens is shows the top of the window - the very oldest photos - which is invariable where I don't want to look and I have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to find the latest. Is there anyway to have the order reversed and have the newest at the top?

You can reset the sorting of the events in the View menu:
View > Sort Events > By Date, Descending
it suddenly placed my December photo stream amongst those some ten years old!
Did you upload very old photos to your Photo Stream? With a capture date ten years ago?

IPod calendar events don't appear on computer after sync

How can I set my Touch so that its calendar events are added to iCal on my MacBook Pro? When I sync through iTunes, nothing on the Touch gets tranferred. Thanks!

Imported files don't appear in Windows Explorer

I upgraded to 1.1, thereafter every time I import photos thru Lightroom, I can view all these new files in the Lightroom folders section as normal; however, the new files/folders are not present when trying to view them in the standard Windows Explorer thru My Computer; when I archived My Photos to external drive they did not archive over, so they are effectively missing from the hard drive. However, when I choose right click show in Explorer via Lightroom, hey presto they're there and I can access them, copy to other folders etc. I have Windows XP. This is driving me nuts, I'd be grateful for any help. It never happened with 1.0. Thanks.

I'm not clear on what you're seeing here. When in LR you choose a file or folder and select Show in Explorer, it opens an actual Windows Explorer window and shows the actual file structure and path. Are you saying that when in LR you choose to show a file or folder in Explorer, and then when you open up Explore outside of LR you see a totally different file structure?
I know this might be a silly question, but is it possible you have your LR files on a different drive or different file structure outside of your Windows default My Pictures folder? You can find out easy enough when you do the Show in Explorer by checking the exact path or just scrolling up the file window and examining your file structure.
If that simple thing doesn't help, I don't know what will myself!:)

HT4968 Can I add subscriptions to more than one calendar? I would like my google cal to be added to my main ical cal. be to more than one calendar

CAn I add more than one subscription to my main calendar in ical? I have a google cal I use for work, plus a another schedule i subscribe to. I would like both of those to fill my main ical cal.

I'm not sure how you would merge them without dragging and dropping the events from your separate calendars into the one you want to hold the merged events.
iCloud won't sync calendars from external account such as Google. The easiest thing to do would be to add them to your iOS devices as explained here: https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/151674?hl=en&rd=1. They will then appear alongside your iCloud calendar on your iOS devices just as they do on your Mac.

Save the file to your desired location.

Iphone mail hyperlink created events don't update to outlook calendar

I created an event using a hyperlink in mail on my iphone. The event never sync'd to my ipad or outlook (active sync and exchange). After a support call to apple(with no results) and spending some time and about $175.00 with an outside IT person, we found the problem. When we deleted the location information, the event would immediately show up in outlook and any other mobile devices syncing to that calendar. I am speculating that there are some characters that either the iphone or exchange does not like in this locaion field. The iphone picked up all of the location characters automatically through the hyperlink in mail. I just started using this hyperlink feature and really like how quickly i can create an event......so much for that unless i delete or clean up the location field.

there are many posts on this subject.. I myself had the problem and fixed it with a manual and not elegant process... but it works.
Exchange-Outlook have many documented issues with recurring appointments and users with more than one device: either a desktop + laptop or a laptop+smartphone, or laptop+iPhone, etc. The issue gets bigger if there are delegates with access to same account.
Outlook 2007 had many issues to sync with devices (whether or not iPhone was not the issue). they reportedly fixed those issues with Outlook 2007 SP1 released few months ago. After installing that SP1 I had no more problems... until recurring appointments created again that malfunction you describe
AFAIK the best workaround is to manually delete the corrupted recurring appointments. recurring appointments get corrupted very frequently. You can change the view on outlook calendar and show only corrupted appointments or recurring appointments and fix the issues. Not elegant but works.

I found that my calendar entries were totaling over 86meg. To see your calendar size select Tools, Mailbox Cleanup.., View Mailbox Size.. Then select Close, Close to get out.
To view and delete old calendar entries do the following:
Select Calendar on the navpane.
Select View, Arrange by, Current View, By Category,
You may sort by End time. Some of my old meetings were several years old and they had attachments. I selected from the top and went down to about a week previous and the pressed the delete key.
I exited Outlook, not sure if this is needed and restarted it. I then sync'd from iTunes and it worked."

ICal only letting me add entries to one calendar

I'm trying to set up multiple calendars for several members of staff but seem to be encountering the same problem on several different computers.
The basic problem is that I can't seem to write entries into any calander other than my default Home calender. I have several calenders available but when I select one from the drop down list and try to write an entry, it automatically jumps back to my default Home calendar.
I have calendars listed as On My Mac, on Exchange and under Delagates in the list, but when I try and add an entry to any of them it will switch to my Home calendar
The only slight workaround I have found for this is if I change the view to show each calendar in a seperate window. But this only works for adding entries to other people's caleldars, not my additional calendars, and still defaults back to their main caledar rather than letting me add entries to their additional calendars
This is really frustrating as I need my staff to have to be able to put entries into two seperate calendars and add stuff to other people's

Event indicator (dot) appears on every calendar day

I have a recent iPhone 3G with the most current updates available from iTunes. I have no obvious connectivity issues... apps, music, appointments, contacts all sync just fine.
Problem: When I am in calendar month view, a dot appears on every day - including the grey days from previous/next months - even for days that have no appointments. How do I get the errant dots to disappear?

I have no multi-day appointments. The problem extends indefinitely into the future, and first appears June 2008 (I got the phone in August.) Months prior, May 2008 and earlier, have no indicators.
I deleted every appointment in the iPhone calendar and the problem persists.

Multiple google calendars synced to my ipad with exchange but the entries don't appear

I've done this many times before with various iphones, but my new ipad2 vexes me. I want all my google calendars to appear in the calendar app on my ipad. I've:
set up the google account as an exchange account
signed in to m/google.com/sync
selected the correct device
enabled the calendars
you can see the complete list of calendars in the the cal app, but the actual events don't appear.
if i create a new event on one of these invisable calendars, it appears.
thoughts?

Mix published and unpublished events in one calendar?

Just got an iPhone.
Is there a way to mix published and unpublished events in one calendar?
I've heard that other calendar software have this option.
With iCal on a Mac it's possible to choose which calendars to view, so then it's not a problem to have one published and one unpublished calendar.
But with iCal on iPhone you can only choose between viewing ONE and ALL calendars.
I subscribe to a bunch of other peoples calendars, so viewing ALL is never an option..
So now I would like to write all my events, published and private, into ONE calendar. Is that possible?

Yes. I tried changing the setting to Sync All Events (instead of the time limited sync) and let it refresh. No change. No display
I also tried rescheduling the event by one hour on the same day (no other changes), then save. No change. No display.
I ended up deleting the events and re-entering them, with identical information (including the recurring end date, remarks, etc., you name it), and then the events appeared like the rest of them in the same calendar.
I'd still like to know if there is a solution to the original problem. I'm still concerned that other events, maybe in the other calendar as well, are no appearing and it's impossible to rely on a sample or to verify every event.
