ICal: Instead of colored dots, can every event's headline be displayed in color accordingly?

Before the upgrade, every events is displayed in colour accordingly, with All-Day-Event highlighted.
After the upgrade, only the "All-day event" is highlighed in clour. But the headline/subject of everything else (from every calendars) is displayed in dark grey with a small colored dots.
For example, It's too difficult to spot my important work meetings (in blue) from the rest of the non-important personal events (in purple).
those blue dots looks very close to purple dots. This really is making my calendar looking confusing.

Mavericks applies color to events only in day and week views. Before events in month view had a color corresponding to the specific calendar it was in (appointments, school, etc). Only all-day events now are highlighted in color. This is a step backward. I hope that Apple updates iCal to bring back the highlighting of all calendar events in all views.

Can someone please tell Apple to create a "dot" for every event in a given day?

Can someone run this idea up the chain at apple? It would be nice to see what days are busiest from the monthly view. I single dot can represent 1 event or 20, but this is not helpfull. It seems like it would be an easy programming fix to make a "dot" for every event scheduled in a given day, no? You could press this idea further by making the dot color coordinated to the type of event.
Or is there a setting that I am missing?

Thanks so much for wading in. I did exactly what you suggested - glad you gave me the hint about how to access my library files. There was only one document that seemed to have anything to do with cache, and that was called Calendar Cache. (I've attached a screen capture of all the files incase I should have deleted something else as well.) I deleted Calendar Cache then restarted iCal, but after updating I was still unable to add new events.
Is there anything else you can suggest?

Although this isn't currently possible in the iOS Calendar app, go to iCloud.com (not on your iPad, but on a computer browser like Safari or Firefox) and log in. There, you can add an event in Calendar and have the options to make it repeat however you want.

Every event starts on the 5min mark (10:05) and I can't edit it!!!

Every event starts on the 5min mark (10:05) and I can't edit it for some reason. I can change the date, the hour, and the am/pm, but not the minutes. It's very strange.
Is there a way to "reload" or "restore" iCal?

Since Windows 10 is still in Technical preview stage, we don’t suggest fixing system problem by using system upgrade. And as mentioned by Frederik Long, There is no "downgrade" path from Windows 10 to Windows 7.

Hi,
Lion has changed the way reminders (todos as was) work. They now seem to need to be in a seperate calendar.
In iCal open the File menu and select New Reminder List... and select where to put it.

Can I set up to have every event send notice

last year I was able to have the Entire season for a hockey schedule give a 2 hour on screen advance notice.
I cannot remember how I accomplished that or if Snow Leopard is different now.
I set it up this year but there is no automatic notices other then me having to manually do each of the 80 games.
Can a alarm or notice be done for all events in iCal ?

Perhaps someone can prove that needs to be done which would be the 2% uncertainty.
You should be able to do that because you know which hockey schedule you used.
Is it a calendar subscription? If so, just delete it and make sure that the alarms are checked as you desire before you re-subscribe. If not, how were the matches entered into iCal?

Calendar month view dots on every day...

I seem to have a dot in every day of every month in month view. I have seen pics of other folks who only have dots in the days where there is an event. So I am thinking there is something wrong with my sync.
I downloaded 7.3.1 iTunes, resynced, and even restored. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

VOILA! Solved it. I was right, it was related to recurring appointments.
I kept going back on my calendar until I found a day that had no dot in it. Then I figured the first empty day that still showed a dot and worked backwards. I found a recurring appointment was causing the problem.
When I opened it up, I noticed that the appointment was from Mon, Feb 5 to Sun, Feb 4. It went BACK in time. It still showed as only one day, and the All Day button was ON. I changed the TO date to Feb 5 (so both FROM and TO matched), saved the appointment, and VOILA! Fixed. However, as I scrolled forward, I noticed dots started showing up in every day in the months from that point forward, and it was still fixed from that point on backwards. It turns out EVERY BIRTHDAY (every yearly recurring appointment) had this glitch. When I fixed a birthday, it fixed all the days between it and the next birthday. When I fixed them all, my Monthly view for ALL months now shows dots on days with events, and no dots on days with no event.

Do not show dots for 'free' events in the calendar month view

I wish I could.... not show dots for 'free' events in the calendar month view. For an overview of when I have hard-scheduled events in the calendar it's pretty tedious and slow to go day -by day, and other views... Instead the dot in the month view... - why does it show even "free" events? Any ideas, tips?

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported.

Eyedropper Picks Up Pattern Instead of Color

I have obtained a JPG image by “print screen” which I have copied into Illustrator CS6, and I am trying to pick colors from it with the eyedropper tool in order to make a gradient. It picks up the colors alright, and even lets me copy them to the swatches panel. But when I try to group the picked colors together, or make a gradient out of them, it won’t let me, and says that you can’t do that with a “pattern”. Apparently the eyedropper picks up a “pattern” rather than a “color” (although it looks like a color to me; there are no “patterns” on the JPG image that I can see); and that is what prevents it from either grouping them together, or creating a gradient out of them. Any advice will be appreciated.

The small squares on the left are the colors which I have picked from my JPG image with the eyedropper tool, from which I want to make a gradient. The one circled in blue is selected, and the "Recolr Artwork" dialog box relating to the selected color is shown on the right. I have copied the five colors into the Swatches panel, circled in yellow. As you can see, it has identified them as patterns, and placed them next to the other patterns in the Swatches panel. And it wont let me create a gradient out of them because it identifies them as patterns rather than as colors. If I select those five colors in the swatches panel and click on the little folder icon on the bottom of the panel to make a color group out of them, it comes up with an error message saying, "Color groups cannot contain pattern or gradient swatches." No idea why the colors are being identified as patterns (or gradients). They look like colors to me. I see no patterns (or gradients). And I can't understand why the color picker is not picking colors. I have doble clicked on the eyedropper tool to open the options box, and unselected all the options except colors, and it is still not picking up colors. It is picking up patterns or gradients, instead of colors.

My Iphoto library has recently updtaed itself with a same picture icon for every event. I backed up all my photos and deleted all the events in the library. When I imported a fresh batch of pictures the same picture appeared as the key photo. Help

iPhoto is an application and lives in your Applications folder
Your photos are in a database which by default is names iPhoto library and is in your pictures folder
I still have Iphoto on my computer.

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your thumbnails (you may need to do several times)

Is there a way make Final Cut Pro X NOT open every event/project I have worked on at open?

I will admit, I am quite new to Final Cut Pro X, but have been a FCP user for years - this version is like learning to walk all over again.
Everytime I open FCP X, it loads every event/project I have ever worked on, and it takes a looooong time. Is there a way to have it open blank and then let me open only the Events I wish to work with?

Event Manager is only $4.99 but if you don't mind doing it manually, it will cost you nothing.

As usual it makes it sound quite complex but all it involves is making 2 folders which you name Final Cut Events - Hidden and Final Cut Projects - Hidden and dragging the project and event folders you don't want into them. (The exact name of the folders is not critical so you can choose your own if you wish).
When you want to see them again you drag them back into the original folders.
You should move the folders with FCP X shutdown.

ICal on iPhone creates alerts for synched events.

I've been having this issue for a while, and haven't found any solution as of yet. I use iCloud to synch my calendars from my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion to my iPhone 4S. When events are synched to my phone, for some reason, they all automatically get an alert one day before the event, which I would really like to remove but I have a lot of events and it's a huge pain to manually go through and remove them all. Is there any way to remove these alerts? I've scoured all the settings (to my best knowledge) on both my phone and my computer and I have all default alerts turned off but I can't seem to find it. I sent the calendars to the people in my classes and they have the same issue with alerts appearing on their iPhones and iPads.

I have the same problem with alerts coming up one day before even though every preference and every event has alerts turned off. This started within the last week. The two major things I did was: upgraded an iPhone to ios 6 and upgraded one of my macs to lion, which started merging calendar events and contacts (creating a rogue contact with hundreds of emails and phone numbers, but that's another story).
I have seen it before that when you add a new OS feature, the default preferences sometimes don't act like the default. So I just went into the new lion's calendar preferences Alerts tab and deliberately changed the Events from None to 1 day before (the current bad behavior) Use these default alerts only on this computer is turned off. I then checked that the change propagated to another mac and then set Events back to None. I'm hoping this will force the change to go to the ios devices as well.
If it doesn't, then what I will try is to go into each of my ios devices and do a similar thing: go into notification center for calendar and turn on alterts, then leave notifications, return to notifications and switch back to either banners or none.
If that still doesn't work then I would delete each event that is alerting the day before and re-create them, to see if that helps.

Why does my iCloud calendar have multiples of every event?

I have my Outlook calendar set to sync to iCloud. My iCloud calendar has double, triples, sometimes even more instances of the same event. This is true for every event on the calendar. When I look at the local calendar on Outlook, there is only one instance of each event. How do I stop this from happening? I am getting tons of event reminders popping up on my phone, super annoying.
