  • Ical invite problem

My Ipad is mine, not my wifes.  My itunes account is under my name.  Yet when I send a calendar invite, it shows up as sent from my wifes name, not mine.  I cannot figure out where to change this.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Sounds like something is stuck in iCal's memory.
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test (You may have to delete the event again at this point).
    Hope that helps.

  • Can't download iCal invitations (.ics) anymore. anyone else having similar problems?

Until a couple of days ago, I was able to send iCal invitations from my ipad or iphone to my work address and download the .ics file and import it into Outlook for Mac (since sync services is gone or useless).  Now, opening the invitation sends me to the icloud webpage like before but when I try to download the .ics/meeting invitation, it says that iCould can't find that page.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

I think apple changed the URL of the ics-files and forgot to test this feature... :-(
Then how come it works fine for me, did they forget to forget to change it for me?

  • Problems sending ical invites to gmail addresses?

Problems sending iCal invites to people with gmail. Is there a fix?
Many of the people I invite who have gmail, never get the invite even though they have an iPhone.

Has she looked in her junk folders? Has she made sure your address is in her contacts in Hotmail? Has she made sure your address is not blocked in Hotmail? The problem is obviously on her end as your emails are not getting through to her Hotmail account. Good luck.

  • ICal Notifications (problems)

I'm having a heck of an introduction into the world if notifications, and I can honestly say, I'm frustrated, so I apologize if this comes off sounding short.
I received an important notification from a business partner of mine with all of the details of the meeting enclosed in an iCal Invitation attached to an email from them. The attachment seemed fine, the icon displayed inline with the attached message. (using Mail.app). I clicked on it, and was taken to iCal.
The notification appeared in the notification box in iCal.
Clicking on the invite, iCal spat back the error: "Someone invited you to an event using an email address that isn’t on your “me” card in Address Book. Find your email address in the following list and add it to your card in Address Book."
Unfortunately there is no email address listed for me to add to my Me card. I've looked all over the web, and no one seems to have a fix.
    1. Tried recreating card in Address book and re-associating it to me
    2. Tried making a card with JUST the email address the invite was sent to
    3. Searched the web and found a few references on how frustrating it is, no answers
    4. Submitted a bug report to Apple (4/29/07)
Any help would be most appreciated.

I have this exact same problem, and I cannot figure out what to do. My "me" address card now includes 3 versions of the e-mail address receiving he invitation:
    [email protected]
    <[email protected]>
    My Name <[email protected]>
iCal still will not recognize it, and will not accept the invitation.
    What can I do?

  • ICal invites are not received by some people (I know why, but Apple won't fix it)

I switched to icloud a while back and have the maddening problem of SOME people not receiving invites, and have discovered what causes it (at least in my case):
If the user you are sending to has an itunes (or apple id) account with that email as the login (and that email is NOT an icloud email) they will never receive the iCal invite! Instead it gets routed to their (non setup) icloud account. If they start using icloud for their calendars with this same external email address as login, they will receive them there (directly on their calendar if it is setup). Apple refuses to forward it to their real email address, the one we are sending it to. I have reported it to Apple several times but they are not inclined to fix it, probably because they want to force external users to use icloud. This is mega frustrating. Many of my friends do not receive invites, forcing me to use Google calendar for events with those friends. I prefer the general interface and look of icloud/ical invites, but I need to be able to actually invite people!

Not for me, but let me verify the following type scenario with you:
    1. Your person to invite has a gmail address ([email protected])
    2. That gmail address is their Apple ID/iTunes login name (this is the most important piece)
    3. They may have some icloud service on (like note syncing) but do not use icloud calendaring or mail (or may have signed up for mail but never check it)
    4. Your icloud/ical invite arrives properly in their gmail inbox (at [email protected])?
Is all the above true? For me, the above scenario results in no email being received at the address I sent it to (number 4), it gets routed/lost in icloud if that is their Apple ID login.
Like I said, I do not have the issue you have, all my invites are received regardless of the email provider and user ID's I just send to the correct address and that's it. Frankly if what you said was common the service would be useless, but it works for millions. The problem is at your end, not everybody's.
The login name is just a text string to iCloud, not an address.

  • ICal invites coming as e-mail attachments

    Hi all,
My wife and I both have two AppleIDs. One that is used for iTunes and AppStores. The other is our MobileMe (now iCloud.com) e-mail address, which is used for all iCloud services. We both have OSX and iOS.
    According to:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895
this is supported scenario and has worked correctly for for quite some time, with iCal invites appearing in the iCal apps, either on OSX or on iOS. We are both on OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and iOS 6.1.3.
However, in the recent past (I can't lock in a specific time frame), iCal invites that we send to each other are now comig as e-mails with reply buttons and .ics attachments, rather than within iCal, either on OSX or on iOS.
When logging in to the AppleID site, I note that for my iTunes/AppStores ID, my me.com e-mail is listed as the primary address and is indicated as "Verified", with a green check mark. If I login in to the AppleID site with my me.com address, my me.com e-mail is listed as the primary address, however, it is not indicated as "Verified" and I don't see a way to do that. Presumably only one AppleID can have the verified status?
Prior posts on the matter suggest to be sure that there are no secondary addresses associated with the AppleIDs and there are none for either of us.
While this scenario has worked for some time, as a result of this new behavior, I am now wondering if having two different AppleIDs is the problem, or perhaps that both AppleIDs have the same primary e-mail address is the problem.
Should I have both of us redo our iCloud logins on OSX and iOS using the iTunes/AppStore AppleID instead of the me.com e-mail AppleID? Presumably, if that is a solution, I will need to be sure that we don't lose all of our synched data across our devices.
Does this scenario ring a bell with anyone and if so, did you find a solution?
    Thanks,
    Marc

I powered my iPad off, and started it back up. Works fine now. huh.

  • I don't receive iCal invitation on my Gmail address

    Hello,
I have got a problem about the iCal invitations.
When my friend adds my gmail address in an iCal event he created, I never receive the invitation (my iCal (last version) don't wake up & never tells me that someone invited me).
If he adds my university address or another address I use, it works! I receive the invitation correctly.
It's like the problem is in Gmail, I receive nothing.
    Do you have an idea?
    Thanks!

You're likely not doing anything wrong.  But, you are probably texting to a phone number, which will only show up on a phone, which iPad is not.  If you text to your email address, the email address you set up on your iPad, it will show up on your iPad.  But, if you text to your phone number, it won't.
    I hope that makes sense?

  • Accepting a ical invitation on ipad

How do we accept an ical invitation on ipad from iphone or Macbook or Mac desck top
I get this message ''Safari can't open this document''

I would love a solution, too. This issue came up as soon as I updated to the mobileme beta in october. First, all my "on my mac" calendars were deleted with years of needed historical data. Luckily I restored them via Time Machine backup. Then I talked in depth to multiple levels of AppleCare support and they were beyond perplexed. Any calendar invites I receive into iCal will automatically go into the first "on my mac" calendar, and cannot be moved to the mobileme calendars. The only bad solution is to "duplicate" the calendar event, and then move it to whatever calendar you want. Then delete the original event. Unfortunately, even if you select "delete and don't notify" the original event sender will receive a notification. I've also had problems with calendar invites in ical I accepted into mobileme syncing to my iphone and ipad in a format that does not allow me to edit.

  • Accepting Ical invites - in mail or Ical?

Using 10.7.2, Icloud and latest versions.
When I accept an ical invite trough Ical the Inviter will not receive my answer but if I answer through mail he gets the answer.
I would like to be able to answer directly in Ical - when I press accept no response is sent/received.
The Inviter is using 10.7.2, Icloud and latest versions.

    I have the same problem.
I managed to get from Palm Desktop to Ical by going through Tiger and the new isync. This works fine except when I invite a Windows user (outlook) to an ical event. When she tries to open my invitation, she gets a message saying something like "calendar error, go from a lunar to a Gregorian calendar."
OK, this is very Microsoft and very funny but any ideas on how to manage this?
From Windows to Mac, it works well.
    Thanks

  • I have accepted iCal invitations with repeating events and they have since been deleted from the iCal on my Mac but won't delete from my iPhone. Help

I have accepted iCal invitations with repeating events and they have since been deleted from the iCal on my Mac but won't delete from my iPhone. Help

I experienced this issue as well.
    Background:
I had opened an ICS attachment for a repeating event on my iPhone, which added the item to my phone's calendar. I did not have the option to delete the calendar entry from my phone, and the item did not appear on the calendar on my Mac. My phone is currently running iOS 7 (but the problem began quite awhile ago; I don't recall which version of iOS was installed when it started).
    Solution (summary):
Create a new calendar, move the items that you wish to delete to the new calendar, then delete the new calendar
    Solution (detailed steps):
    Create a new calendar
On your phone, open the calendar app
Tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the "Add Calendar..." option
Give your new calendar a good name, such as "Delete me"
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to save the new calendar
Tap "Done" in the top left corner to finish editing the list of calendars
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars
Assign all calendar entries that you wish to delete to the calendar you created in step 1
Tap a calendar entry that you wish to delete
Tap the "Edit" button in the top right corner
Scroll down until you see the Calendar field (on an iPhone or iPod it's usually just below the bottom of the screen), then tap the Calendar field to bring up the list of available calendars
Tap the name of the calendar that you created in step 1 (e.g. "Delete me"); the screen should return to the main calendar entry page
Tap "Done" in the top right corner of the screen. You may need to then tap the "< Day" button on the top left of the screen to return to the main calendar view
Repeat the instructions in step 2 for each of the calendar entries that you wish to delete
Delete the calendar that you created in step 2 (this will delete all calendar entries assigned to this calendar)
From the main screen in the calendar app, tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Tap the entry for the calendar that you created in step 2 (e.g. "Delete me")
Scroll to the bottom of the scren and tap the "Delete Calendar" option. You should be prompted with a warning that explains that "All events associated with this calendar will also be deleted."
If you're sure that the only items on this calendar are items that you wish to delete, tap the "Delete Calendar" button
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to exit the Edit Calendars screen
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars. You should now be back at the main view of the calendars app
Rejoice, your pesky repeating calendar events have been deleted
At this point all of the items that you assigned to the deleted calendar should be gone
Repeat the steps above for any entries that you missed
Post another message to this thread if this did not resolve your problem

  • ICal invite sent from an email acc attached to another profile

    Hi,
I'm logged onto my MBP on my user account, which mail has set up with my email profile. I sent an iCal invite and it was received by my relative from an email account linked to another profile on this MBP. Any thoughts?
I've read up on iCal invites using the profile associated to the email account and then replying to the one at the top of 'me' in my address book but the invite appears to come from an email not attached to my profile.
    Apprecaite your help.

I have the same problem -- the ical event alert notification goes to an email address from a previous correspondent.  I have deleted his name from previous recipients, I have deleted his card from contacts, I have checked all the places where I am the default email and that appears okay.  BUT STILL his email shows up in ical's alert notification.  HELP!

  • ICal invite replies Use Wrong Outgoing Server

    Hi There,
    I have 3 e-mail accounts in Mail.
When someone sends me an invite it goes into iCal no problem. If I try to reply to the invite through iCal then it works ok on 2 of the e-mail accounts but not on 1.
i.e. If someone sent the invite to account 1 it is ok.
If they send it to account 2 it is ok
but account 3 is the problem.
With account 3 I get a pop-up message from Mail telling me "Cannot send message using the server xxxxx". The server to which it is referring is the server to be used for one of the other accounts.
It won't even work if I select another server from the list.
    Any ideas?
    powerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Thanks for your help.
I'm not entirely sure I understood your instructions though.
I went into Mail preferences and went to the accounts section. I clicked on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down box and then went to 'edit server list'.
From here I was able to delete 2 servers that I do not use and the other 3 servers listed were listed against the correct e-mail addresses and accounts.
I then send an e-mail from each of the accounts to make sure I had it all set up right and each e-mail account sent and e-mail and received an e-mail without a problem.
Then I went back to iCal to accept an invite and it tried to send it using the wrong outgoing server for that e-mail account and I had the same problems as normal.
    Any other ideas?

  • Wrong "reply to" with iCal invite

    Hi,
    I've got a MacOS X Server running 10.6.6.
Everythings works fine with iCal except one thing.
When I send iCal invit. to the outside world, the reply-to that my mail program is getting is just a junk of numbers and letters like :
    [email protected]
Is there a way to get rid of this ?
    Thanks for help

Okay, so after spending several hours with Apple tech support I was able to resolve my problem, hope this helps. The user had manually synced their Address Book contacts with their iPhone and a Google contacts list. Both of these syncs as well as manually adding new contacts into the Address Book on their iMac caused the Address Book to get completely scrambled. The user had cards with no title, but as many as five (unrelated) email addresses assigned to the card. This same Address Book contained multiple address cards like this, yet each one was slightly different. The user also had cards with titles containing special characters (&;?-_/   etc.), the quick answer for me was, the user had o go through their Address Book on their iPhone and their iMac and completely descramble the bad data. Then before a fresh sync they had to turnoff sync with Google contacts within iTunes. Once the bad data was removed the invitee field with iCal immediately started to perform as expected without fail. What a relief to have this issue resolved.
