ICal invite gets rejected in outlook

When any outlook user receive an iCal event invitation they cannot add it to their Outlook calendar and get an error message advising them to change their appointment options from 'Lunar' to 'Gregorian'. Is there any way around this?

Which version of outlook are they using? I know I know microsofty has published a help file for Outlook 2000 to fix this problem
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823199
apparently there is a sourceforge plugin for 2003 users if they are having problems

  • I can't receive some iCal invitations in MS Exchange Outlook.

At work I use MS Exchange Outlook. I also use an iPhone and an iPad. When certain people send me iCal invitations, I don't receive an email in MS Exchange Outlook and, therefore, can't add them to my MS Exchange Outlook calendar. When they appear in my apple devices, the invitation doesn't include my MS Outlook calendar as an option. What do I do?

What's your account type in your Outlook? Does the issue only happen to meeting request? How about sending or receiveing emails?
Please check whether the meeting request can be send and receive in Webmail. Also check whether you can send/receive meeting request from Windows users.

  • Ical invites

whenever i send an invite to an event, the invitee receives it but there is no link to respond. is this because they are using pc's rather than a mac with ical?
the most recent person got this: Carol Schultz has invited you to the iCal event: Meeting w/carol schultz, scheduled for November 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM (Mountain Standard Time). To accept or decline this invitation, click the link below.
there was no link for him to respond.

    Hi Guys,
Been dealing with a similar issue for about 3 years now, so I know your pain. Apple will not solve this problem because they're a stickler for standards, no matter what the rest of the world really needs. Since I'm a developer at heart, I decided to tackle the problem on my own and built a software product cal Zamain for Mac to resolve the Apple iCal to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange incompatibilities. I originally built the product for myself, but soon realized that this can help others as well. Here are the major issues that Zamain for Mac resolves:
Supports sending Apple iCal invitations from multiple Apple Mail email accounts
Resolves the "unable to Accept" Apple iCal invitations sent to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange recipients
Resolves incorrect time zones for Microsoft Outlook/Exchange recipients
Prevents multiple attachments when viewing Apple iCal invitation emails in Microsoft Outlook
Although I know that this is a shameless plug for my product, I urge you to give it a try because it will really make your life easier. I have been using it every day for past 6 months and I can tell you that it saved me a lot of grief.
You can get Zamain for Mac at www.zamain.com.
    Thanks!

  • I have an iMac with 10.9.1 and an iPhone 5 also updated to the newest system and I cannot get a sync set up between Ical and the iPhone or Outlook 2011 mac calendar with the iphone

I have an iMac with 10.9.1 and an iPhone 5 also updated to the newest system and I cannot get a sync set up between Ical and the iPhone or Outlook 2011 mac calendar with the iphone. I would perfer using outlook but will settle for the Imac calendar

It depends on what iMac you have. If it is an old PPC (G4 orG5) iMac then no further upgrades are possible. If it an Intel iMac:
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X.)
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    iCloud system requirements:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4759
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):

  • How to send ical invites to outlook

When I send an ical invite to outlook user, some users ok to accept and others return mail.dat file attachement?

    1. I didn't replace my [email protected] login with my [email protected] email. I only changed my email information to my [email protected] email. I still login with [email protected]
    2. The me card in both my local address book and the addressbook on iCloud only contains my [email protected] email.
From what I've read in other threads, changing the apple id email means deleting my iCloud account and starting over with a new login email. Apple officially says that it's not possible. But others seem to have succeed with it.
Do you know of any other solution?

  • Why can't I accept iCal invites on one Mac but can on another?

I have three Macs: 1. an iMac which sits on my desk. 2. An older MacBook Pro and 3. a brand new MacBook air which I bought a week or two ago to replace the older MacBook Pro.
All three are running Lion, the first two upgraded from Snow Leopard, the MacBook Air was purchased with Lion.  All three are fully updated using software update.  All three are synchronised using mobile me.
I am not using any server capability.
    Here's my issue:
When one of my customers sends me an invitation to a meeting I get the invite in an email of course.  These invites come exclusively from Outlook as that's what all my clients use but that should not be relevant.
When I double click on the invite the appointment goes to iCal; mobile me then syncs this across all three Macs.  Irrelevant of which Mac I double click from the mail invite the following happens:
On the iMac and Macbook Air the meeting is inserted in my calender.  The meeting is coloured blue (my default calendar colour) and no matter whether I click on accept or decline nothing happens and no response is sent through mail to the meeting organiser.
On the MacBook Pro the meeting is inserted in the calendar in grey with a dotted line border around it.  When I open the meeting and accept or decline the meeting on the MacBook a mail response is sent to the organiser - this is the correct version of what should happen.
Every single setting that I can find in both Mail and iCal is the same on all three Macs as far as I can see.  Has anyone got any ideas why the MacBook Pro would work and not the other two machines - it's a little annoying to have to fire up the old MacBook every time I want to accept a meeting request!
    Many thanks for any help.
    David.

    I think I've solved this.
In address book only the Macbook Pro had my own card set as 'My Card'.  Although Mobile Me was syncing the address book it obviously doesn't carry the My Card attribute across so this wasn't set on the other two Macs.

  • Accepting Ical invites - in mail or Ical?

Using 10.7.2, Icloud and latest versions.
When I accept an ical invite trough Ical the Inviter will not receive my answer but if I answer through mail he gets the answer.
I would like to be able to answer directly in Ical - when I press accept no response is sent/received.
The Inviter is using 10.7.2, Icloud and latest versions.

    I have the same problem.
I managed to get from Palm Desktop to Ical by going through Tiger and the new isync. This works fine except when I invite a Windows user (outlook) to an ical event. When she tries to open my invitation, she gets a message saying something like "calendar error, go from a lunar to a Gregorian calendar."
OK, this is very Microsoft and very funny but any ideas on how to manage this?
From Windows to Mac, it works well.
    Thanks

  • ICal invites are not received by some people (I know why, but Apple won't fix it)

I switched to icloud a while back and have the maddening problem of SOME people not receiving invites, and have discovered what causes it (at least in my case):
If the user you are sending to has an itunes (or apple id) account with that email as the login (and that email is NOT an icloud email) they will never receive the iCal invite! Instead it gets routed to their (non setup) icloud account. If they start using icloud for their calendars with this same external email address as login, they will receive them there (directly on their calendar if it is setup). Apple refuses to forward it to their real email address, the one we are sending it to. I have reported it to Apple several times but they are not inclined to fix it, probably because they want to force external users to use icloud. This is mega frustrating. Many of my friends do not receive invites, forcing me to use Google calendar for events with those friends. I prefer the general interface and look of icloud/ical invites, but I need to be able to actually invite people!

Not for me, but let me verify the following type scenario with you:
    1. Your person to invite has a gmail address ([email protected])
    2. That gmail address is their Apple ID/iTunes login name (this is the most important piece)
    3. They may have some icloud service on (like note syncing) but do not use icloud calendaring or mail (or may have signed up for mail but never check it)
    4. Your icloud/ical invite arrives properly in their gmail inbox (at [email protected])?
Is all the above true? For me, the above scenario results in no email being received at the address I sent it to (number 4), it gets routed/lost in icloud if that is their Apple ID login.
Like I said, I do not have the issue you have, all my invites are received regardless of the email provider and user ID's I just send to the correct address and that's it. Frankly if what you said was common the service would be useless, but it works for millions. The problem is at your end, not everybody's.
The login name is just a text string to iCloud, not an address.

  • ICal invitation replies don't add

    Hi,
I can send out out iCal invitations just fine, but when the receiver respond with their calendard application, iCal does not seem to recognize it. I still have the questionmark on the left of each invitee's name.
The replies I get look fine, they are .ics files.
Neither does iCal automatically add these to my invitation, nor does anything happen if I double-click on the .ics file.
When the same people send me an invitation from their end, it works just fine, they get added automatically to my iCal.
So it's just their replies after I invited them to an event that don't seem to do anything.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Sascha

Reply acceptance has always been flaky for me. Snow Leopard behaves better, but not perfectly.

  • Ical invitations not working, PLEEEEASE help! (long, sorry)

I have an iphone 4 running iOS 5.1.  My husband has a 3GS running 5.x (as current as he can get it, not sure if it's 5.1 or not).
I have my original apple ID from years ago, which I use for just about everything - it is NOT an apple email address.  Then I have the second mac.com apple ID I was forced to make.
Husband has a yahoo.com apple ID, and a me.com (which he never uses).
[Side note: WHY, OH WHY, won't Apple let us merge Apple IDs?? This is absurd!]
I have spent HOURS trying to troubleshoot my ical invitations, but can't figure it out.
When I invite him to an event from my phone-
If I invite his me.com address, he gets an alert in ical.  When he accepts it, it appears in his calendar, and I get a notification (in iCal on my iMac, but NOT on my phone) that he accepted. ***THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD WORK***.
If I invite his yahoo address (the one he uses exclusively) he gets an email that he's been invited.  If he accepts through email, I do not get a notification, but, if I look at the event details, it says he's accepted.  BUT!!!!! The event DOES NOT SHOW UP IN HIS CALENDAR.
But, I can deal with that.  As long as I invite his me.com address, it works as it should (except for me not getting the accept notification on my phone.)
    Now, flip the tables.
    He invites me:
He sends it to my me.com address- nothing happens.  I do not get an alert in ical (on my phone OR my mac), and I do not get an email.
He sends it to my main (non apple) email- still nothing happens.  Not via ical or email.
BUT- if he sends it to my WORK email (which is not in any way associated with any apple ID), i DO get an email.  But, as above, if I accept it- he can see that I accepted, but, it does not appear in my calendar.
I've read some threads here implicating the email addresses associated with apple IDs.  I went through all 4 of our apple IDs and made sure that all possible email addresses were "verified", so I'm not sure that's it. In fact the only email that worked at all for me was the one NOT associated.  But that's crazy- that it will only work if an email is NOT linked to an apple ID? What?
I don't know why it works for him (sort of), but not for me!  If anything I'd understand if the iphone 4 could accept invites but the 3GS couldn't, but it's the other way around!
I tried it about a million different ways this morning, and one thing I noticed:
when I invite his yahoo (and thus send an email) the from address was always crazy- NOT the default address in my email.  Like an old obscure me.com alias that I don't use and have not registered anywhere.  So, I would add that email to my apple ID.  Eventually got all weird aliases linked to an apple ID.  then it sent from my 'normal' mac.com address.
When he invites me (to my work address), the email says it's from his me.com, which is an account he doesn't even know he has, and doesn't use.  he only created it because he HAD to.
Why on earth is this so difficult and confusing?
We're not using google calendars or any third party stuff.  It's iphone to iphone. me.com to me.com.
    Can anyone please help??

instead of verifying email addresses associated with your appleID, try removing them.
I've read some of similar thread just now, and remove the associated email withing my apple ID
now, my friend can send invites to me ([email protected]) and i can reply within the ical and the event is created in the ical.
however, when she tried to send invites to my 2nd appleID (yahoo.com) i don't get anything.
I know this sounds very stupid. but at least i've got a temporary solutions.
hope this also works for you.
perhaps apple just us to use every service they've offer. there's too many ridiculous way to work in iCloud.
sometime i regret migrate to icloud. MobileMe was MUCH MUCH better in sync-ing

  • Ical invitations not showing up in ical

ical invitations are not shwoing up in ical on mac or on ipad.

I don't seem to be getting iCal push notifications on my iOS devices and my Macs.  I have current versions of Lion (10.7.3) and iCal (5.0.2) and am using iCloud (@me.com) and the people that are sending me invites are using a variety of email accounts for their own iCloud accounts.  The point is that the invitations show up in the Calendar (outlined and background color of grey with the option to Accept or Decline) but they aren't pupulating in my "inbox" next to the "Calendar" button in the upper righthand corner.  Nor are they indicated on my iOS devices.  Both updated with the latest version of iOS 5.X.X. Anyone help?!

  • I recently upgraded to snow leopard and now every time i open iCal i get multiple events to update in iCal

I recently upgraded to snow leopard and now every time i open iCal i get multiple events to update in iCal.  Except I don't know where these are coming from or why.   I've check iCal preferences and Help - can't find a way to stop this from happening automatically.  Any Clues?  Also, some of the events are already on my calendar and have been for quite some time.

    Greetings,
What do you mean by "events to update"?  Do you mean invites to new events or changes to existing invites?
    Troubleshooting:
    1. Your profile indicates you are running 10.6.7, 10.6.8 is the current version Apple > Software update.
    2. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.
    Hope that helps!

  • Accepting a ical invitation on ipad

How do we accept an ical invitation on ipad from iphone or Macbook or Mac desck top
I get this message ''Safari can't open this document''

I would love a solution, too. This issue came up as soon as I updated to the mobileme beta in october. First, all my "on my mac" calendars were deleted with years of needed historical data. Luckily I restored them via Time Machine backup. Then I talked in depth to multiple levels of AppleCare support and they were beyond perplexed. Any calendar invites I receive into iCal will automatically go into the first "on my mac" calendar, and cannot be moved to the mobileme calendars. The only bad solution is to "duplicate" the calendar event, and then move it to whatever calendar you want. Then delete the original event. Unfortunately, even if you select "delete and don't notify" the original event sender will receive a notification. I've also had problems with calendar invites in ical I accepted into mobileme syncing to my iphone and ipad in a format that does not allow me to edit.
