ICal - Inviting others to meeting

Anyone been able to figure out how to invite others to a meeting from their iPhone? For example, I'd like to invite my son to a meeting and have the iPhone send him an invitation.
Any ideas or hints? Thank you!

No, there is no way to create invitation on the iPhone. Let Apple know you would like to see that.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
So we have DSL Modem <-> Base Station <-> Computer connected by Ethernet.
    Is the Modem Routing ?
Is the Base Station set to "Share An IP" ?
(i.e are there two DHCP servers on your LAN ?)
Is Internet Sharing On in th G5s System Preferences > Sharing pane ?
In the Base Station is Port Mapping Protocol Enabled if it is doing routing ?
It is in the NAT tab of the Internet Pane.
Is the G5 also doing WiFi to the Base Station ?
Also check the Modem is not Blocking PINGS as this log shows no PING (But I am not sure it even got that far)

  • I can't receive some iCal invitations in MS Exchange Outlook.

At work I use MS Exchange Outlook. I also use an iPhone and an iPad. When certain people send me iCal invitations, I don't receive an email in MS Exchange Outlook and, therefore, can't add them to my MS Exchange Outlook calendar. When they appear in my apple devices, the invitation doesn't include my MS Outlook calendar as an option. What do I do?

What's your account type in your Outlook? Does the issue only happen to meeting request? How about sending or receiveing emails?
Please check whether the meeting request can be send and receive in Webmail. Also check whether you can send/receive meeting request from Windows users.

  • Why can't I accept iCal invites on one Mac but can on another?

I have three Macs: 1. an iMac which sits on my desk. 2. An older MacBook Pro and 3. a brand new MacBook air which I bought a week or two ago to replace the older MacBook Pro.
All three are running Lion, the first two upgraded from Snow Leopard, the MacBook Air was purchased with Lion.  All three are fully updated using software update.  All three are synchronised using mobile me.
I am not using any server capability.
    Here's my issue:
When one of my customers sends me an invitation to a meeting I get the invite in an email of course.  These invites come exclusively from Outlook as that's what all my clients use but that should not be relevant.
When I double click on the invite the appointment goes to iCal; mobile me then syncs this across all three Macs.  Irrelevant of which Mac I double click from the mail invite the following happens:
On the iMac and Macbook Air the meeting is inserted in my calender.  The meeting is coloured blue (my default calendar colour) and no matter whether I click on accept or decline nothing happens and no response is sent through mail to the meeting organiser.
On the MacBook Pro the meeting is inserted in the calendar in grey with a dotted line border around it.  When I open the meeting and accept or decline the meeting on the MacBook a mail response is sent to the organiser - this is the correct version of what should happen.
Every single setting that I can find in both Mail and iCal is the same on all three Macs as far as I can see.  Has anyone got any ideas why the MacBook Pro would work and not the other two machines - it's a little annoying to have to fire up the old MacBook every time I want to accept a meeting request!
    Many thanks for any help.
    David.

    I think I've solved this.
In address book only the Macbook Pro had my own card set as 'My Card'.  Although Mobile Me was syncing the address book it obviously doesn't carry the My Card attribute across so this wasn't set on the other two Macs.
Weeks I've been looking at this and then I find the answer a few hours after posting the question

  • Received out-of-timezone iCal invites don't appear in correct local time

I am using iCal on my mac and via iCloud to my iPhone and iPad. I live in France, and work with people in San Francisco (-9 hrs). When I receive .ics files from my colleagues, the invitation "time zone" says "floating" and the time is set, say for 11AM San Francisco. I have "time support" switched on all my devices and set for "Paris". Yet the received invitation shows the meeting starts at 11AM Paris Time. If I change the Time Zone to "Pacific", it throws the timing back 9 hours (e.g. 2AM).
I cannot change the invitation in any way.
Shouldn't it show me the time this 11AM San Francisco meeting will start in France (e.g. 20:00 or 8PM)? Is it because of my settings, or what I receive from others (I assume from Outlook/Entrourage on mac)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Its not easy to follow your code without the [ code] +[ /code] tags and your link may as well not be there, the code one. I would resolve this by reducing the overhead ie: stripping down the code as much as I could and then adding them back one by one. DIVIDE and CONQUER!!!
    1. Take out the audio data (I suspect this may be the key problem)
    2. Take out the Thread 'main' and have an actionListener attached to your answer field to handle the changes
    3. Take out java.net and your URLs
    4. use a MediaTracker and WaitForAll()
    5. Strip it down further - AS MUCH AS YOU CAN (you can easily reassemble it quickly again) and then look at the program flow
    6. Add more boolean logic to give you control over all your elements ie
    if(myAnswer==answer) smiley=true;
    else smiley = false;
// or whatever, as I said I could only scan through your code as it is difficult to read in its present format.
Finally: this is good work I like the smileys and the instant %'s, the general layout, good /intelligent use of random() to generate different Q's each time. It's a good application, just remember that applets can be unreliable and I think your basic problem is that you have too much data here.
Strip it right down, focus on your logical flow and then put back the elements one-by-one

  • Can't download iCal invitations (.ics) anymore. anyone else having similar problems?

Until a couple of days ago, I was able to send iCal invitations from my ipad or iphone to my work address and download the .ics file and import it into Outlook for Mac (since sync services is gone or useless).  Now, opening the invitation sends me to the icloud webpage like before but when I try to download the .ics/meeting invitation, it says that iCould can't find that page.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

  • Non-Mac users being able to accept iCal invitations

I have sent numerous meeting invitations using iCal to non-Mac users. When they receive the e-mail, they are unable to save the invitation to their calendar or accept the meeting request. How can I fix this?

Unfortunately, .ics files, which is how iCal invites are sent +as attachments+, are not recognized by the Mail app on the iPhone. Only Apple can alter that.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.
Note that the New Invitation Alerts setting on the iPhone applies to calendar invites sent via MobileMe or MS Exchange (those are true calendar invites, not email attachments).

  • Ical invites not being sent from MacBook Pro but are being sent from iphone

Hoping someone can please help me! I am suddenly unable to send iCal invites from my laptop. They look like they send, but nobody receives them and also the events don't show on my iPhone and iPad2. If I add the event on my iPhone, I do see it on my laptop. I recently did a system update and I wonder if that is the cause. Any help you can give me would be so appreciated. Thanks.

I am having this problem as well.  Specifically, when I create a new calendar meeting I am able to add users to the invitation and when I save the invite it gets sent.  I have also modified an existing calendar event that has other people invited, and when I exit editing the meeting a pop up window specifically asks if I want to save my changes "and send it to the other invited participants" or something like that.
    I click yes.
In both cases (the original creation and invitation, and the modification and send update to attendees) nothing is received by the other recipients.  Not a calendar event or invitation, not an email with a .ics attachment or similar, or not even an email notification.
Thus, I set up an event in my calendar, invite others, and no one is aware that the event was set up.
Is there any way around this?  I don't think I'm doing anything wrong as the process of creating an event, inviting someone, and sending out the invitation seems pretty straight forward.  It just isn't working.

  • Ical invites

whenever i send an invite to an event, the invitee receives it but there is no link to respond. is this because they are using pc's rather than a mac with ical?
the most recent person got this: Carol Schultz has invited you to the iCal event: Meeting w/carol schultz, scheduled for November 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM (Mountain Standard Time). To accept or decline this invitation, click the link below.
there was no link for him to respond.

    Hi Guys,
Been dealing with a similar issue for about 3 years now, so I know your pain. Apple will not solve this problem because they're a stickler for standards, no matter what the rest of the world really needs. Since I'm a developer at heart, I decided to tackle the problem on my own and built a software product cal Zamain for Mac to resolve the Apple iCal to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange incompatibilities. I originally built the product for myself, but soon realized that this can help others as well. Here are the major issues that Zamain for Mac resolves:
Supports sending Apple iCal invitations from multiple Apple Mail email accounts
Resolves the "unable to Accept" Apple iCal invitations sent to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange recipients
Resolves incorrect time zones for Microsoft Outlook/Exchange recipients
Prevents multiple attachments when viewing Apple iCal invitation emails in Microsoft Outlook
Although I know that this is a shameless plug for my product, I urge you to give it a try because it will really make your life easier. I have been using it every day for past 6 months and I can tell you that it saved me a lot of grief.
You can get Zamain for Mac at www.zamain.com.
    Thanks!
    -Jon

  • ICal invites are not received by some people (I know why, but Apple won't fix it)

I switched to icloud a while back and have the maddening problem of SOME people not receiving invites, and have discovered what causes it (at least in my case):
If the user you are sending to has an itunes (or apple id) account with that email as the login (and that email is NOT an icloud email) they will never receive the iCal invite! Instead it gets routed to their (non setup) icloud account. If they start using icloud for their calendars with this same external email address as login, they will receive them there (directly on their calendar if it is setup). Apple refuses to forward it to their real email address, the one we are sending it to. I have reported it to Apple several times but they are not inclined to fix it, probably because they want to force external users to use icloud. This is mega frustrating. Many of my friends do not receive invites, forcing me to use Google calendar for events with those friends. I prefer the general interface and look of icloud/ical invites, but I need to be able to actually invite people!

Not for me, but let me verify the following type scenario with you:
    1. Your person to invite has a gmail address ([email protected])
    2. That gmail address is their Apple ID/iTunes login name (this is the most important piece)
    3. They may have some icloud service on (like note syncing) but do not use icloud calendaring or mail (or may have signed up for mail but never check it)
    4. Your icloud/ical invite arrives properly in their gmail inbox (at [email protected])?
Is all the above true? For me, the above scenario results in no email being received at the address I sent it to (number 4), it gets routed/lost in icloud if that is their Apple ID login.
Like I said, I do not have the issue you have, all my invites are received regardless of the email provider and user ID's I just send to the correct address and that's it. Frankly if what you said was common the service would be useless, but it works for millions. The problem is at your end, not everybody's.
The login name is just a text string to iCloud, not an address.

  • How to delete previous invitee from apple iCal invite list? When inviting "Joe" an old Email address shows up. This person is literally dead! (may he rest peacefull) and I can't find his Email address to delete anywhere. Not in my address book

When sending calendar invite to "invitee" an old address appears. This guy is literally dead (may he rest in peace) and has same first name as person I send to all the time. So "dead" guy always pops up. Can't find his address to delete anywhere -- not in previous recipients, not in my address book, does not "auto-populate" when I try to send an Email. Still shows up everytime I want to send iCal invite. Spooky. Help me delete this guy from my iCal invitee options so he can truly rest in peace. Thanks!

I can no longer send iCal invitations.  I have not changed any settings, passwords or email accounts.  No idea what to do.

    Greetings,
    Questions:
What happens when you put in an email address in an event? (Make sure the email address is also in your addressbook (Macintosh HD > Applications > Addressbook)
Are you using calendars that show up under "On My Mac" on the left hand side of iCal or are the calendars under a different heading?
    Troubleshooting:
Make sure that you can send / receive email in the Apple Mail program.
Make sure that the email address in Mail > Preferences > Accounts is also on your Addressbook card:Go to Addressbook > Card > Go to My Card -- The email address you are using to send receive messages on your computer should be on this card.
If that doesn't take care of it:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
    4. Launch iCal and test.
    If the issue persists:
    1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.
    Hope that helps!

  • Removing email address from auto populate box in ICal invites

I deleted a contact/email address from my address book but his name/email still shows up in ical as choice for invites. His address is not in my mail's "previous recipients" list and is removed from contacts. How do I stop it from being a choice to populate in my ical invite?

  • ICal invites coming as e-mail attachments

    Hi all,
My wife and I both have two AppleIDs. One that is used for iTunes and AppStores. The other is our MobileMe (now iCloud.com) e-mail address, which is used for all iCloud services. We both have OSX and iOS.
    According to:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895
this is supported scenario and has worked correctly for for quite some time, with iCal invites appearing in the iCal apps, either on OSX or on iOS. We are both on OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and iOS 6.1.3.
However, in the recent past (I can't lock in a specific time frame), iCal invites that we send to each other are now comig as e-mails with reply buttons and .ics attachments, rather than within iCal, either on OSX or on iOS.
When logging in to the AppleID site, I note that for my iTunes/AppStores ID, my me.com e-mail is listed as the primary address and is indicated as "Verified", with a green check mark. If I login in to the AppleID site with my me.com address, my me.com e-mail is listed as the primary address, however, it is not indicated as "Verified" and I don't see a way to do that. Presumably only one AppleID can have the verified status?
Prior posts on the matter suggest to be sure that there are no secondary addresses associated with the AppleIDs and there are none for either of us.
While this scenario has worked for some time, as a result of this new behavior, I am now wondering if having two different AppleIDs is the problem, or perhaps that both AppleIDs have the same primary e-mail address is the problem.
Should I have both of us redo our iCloud logins on OSX and iOS using the iTunes/AppStore AppleID instead of the me.com e-mail AppleID? Presumably, if that is a solution, I will need to be sure that we don't lose all of our synched data across our devices.
Does this scenario ring a bell with anyone and if so, did you find a solution?
    Thanks,
    Marc
