ICal is kidnapped by "Mozilla Sunbird"!

My iCal program SUDDENLY has dates, events, and reminders that I never put there! The sidebar-information panel has "Mozilla Sunbird and Lightning Calendar Project" junk in it. I can't get rid of any of these mysterious entries. This occurred after I visited the Mozilla website. I don't remember clicking on anything or ordering anything new!
How can I get my OLD iCal back?!!
Maria

Any ideas?

  • Syncing Calendars with Mozilla Sunbird

I use Mozilla Sunbird as my calendar application, and it is really good (Far better than Outlook). Now, my problem is getting these calendars onto my Touch. At the moment, I am exporting the calendar in iCalendar format and then have to use a special program to import it into Outlook, so iTunes can sync it.
Will there be support for syncing with Sunbird? Even just being able to locate the .ics or a CalDAV share in iTunes and have that sync would be enough.

I had a similar problem with al day events showing up a day out of synch. Have a look at the following link, it solved my problem!
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692
by deleting the synch history first and then replacing the data on the ipod the issue is resolved!
Also check that both outlook and ipod are set to the same time zones!

  • 6630 - syncing with Mozilla Sunbird calendar

Is this possible? I've given up using Outlook and switched to Mozilla Sunbird for calendar (been using Thunderbird for email for ages).
Anyone know if it's possible to use the calendar on my 6630 with my Nokia 6630?
    Many thanks,
    Ed Ludlow

    Hi
As you are aware, Sunbird is the new cross-platform calendar application from the Mozilla Foundation.
The aim of the project is to create a standalone calendar for someone who uses either Mozilla Thunderbird or Firefox as their email client or web browser.
At the moment Sunbird does not integrate with other packages, it is purely a standalone project, although it is expected that the Mozilla Foundation will attempt to prioritize this task to be solved in the near future.
Sorry but I can't see a way you can use PC Suite to synchronise between to the two products.

    Yes I know.
But that is an old? cvs version. Sunbird is now released with a version number and as a tarball. Thats why I have requested it again.

  • Delegate sunbird from ical server

Hello, it is possible to be delegated from ical, an account in mozilla sunbird? if it is as well as?

I also get the "Error from server: Error processing calendar data (210)" error every time the page loads or I try to add an event. Looking at the iCal error log, I have the following errors:

  • Syncing Sunbird ical with mac ical

I'm trying to get my wife's calendar synced with my calendar. She has not made the move to apple as of yet. So research revealed that Mozilla Sunbird allows you to utilize ical. Can we work off the same calendar. Can her changes appear on my calendar and vise-versa? Can the calendar also sync with my iphone? Would I need a MobileMe account? Thanks for your wisdom.
    Scott

No, any syncing to the iphone has to be done through itunes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Snow Leopard iCal Server

I am a long time Now Up to Date user (with the contact/event server). If you know anything about NUDC you know that the word "unfortunately" will begin any further discussion. "Unfortunately" the upgrade Now X has been in "development" for nearly 3 years and it was released (badly I guess) in the Fall without a server. They will not give us a date on when that server may release and early reviews are not good for the standalone. It doesn't look very hopeful.
I am running three G5s right now with 2 Leopard Server and 1 tiger. I am considering giving up on Now, buying one Intel with Snow-L on it and using iCal and buying iPhones instead of Palm Centros -- hopefully when they port to Verizon b/c I'm no fan of ATT.
However, I really need to have some questions answered before I make that big a move -- about basic things like how it operates. I did a test run on Kerio and Entourage and was horribly disappointed. We need to share calendars across seven providers and four office staff and need to be able to modify each other's calendars EASILY. We can do that with NUDC but it gets more unreliable with every upgrade of the operating system and the Centros are obsolete. I would really love to hear from some people who are in daily use of iCal server. Maybe it's easier then to go to back channel and not use up the discussion board for what amounts to me asking for a sales pitch.
    Any takers?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi. No, no back-channel anything, please. You've come here asking for help, and so the discussion should STAY here
That way, everyone can contribute and potentially BENEFIT
Should you want dedicated support, then that's something that comes with a fee...
    http://consultants.apple.com/
    That said,
I have implemented shared calendaring for a client using Snow Leopard Server.
What testing have you done so far and what are your specific questions ?
You can either create a "user" (eg: Company_Calendar) and have end-users setup iCal to use that calendar, but that can get a bit messy, OR
have one such calendar (as just described) for certain purposes, and otherwise setup a calendar for each user.
Where it gets a bit tricky is that you have to use each end-users iCal to setup delegation (read and/or write access for other users). It's readily doable via a user's iCal, but I'm currently looking into managing this server-side - see (via the Terminal):
    man calendarservermanageprincipals
I think, compared to NUTDC , you should find this remarkably stable and reliable by comparison.
But you do have to allow for the fact that you're migrating to something entirely new for you,
and your ability to maintain, troubleshoot and resolve problems should they arise.
For client software, Entourage is not an option that I know of. See Apple's documentation for SL Server - iCal Server Admin:
    "Third-Party Applications
...the following third-party applications can use iCal service. These applications are from companies or projects that have committed to using CalDAV as an open calendaring service. This list does not indicate an endorsement or support for any of the products listed.
Mozilla Sunbird and Lightning (open source)
Open Software Application Foundation Chandler (open source)
Microsoft Outlook using the open source Outlook Connector Project
    Mulberry (open source)
GNOME Evolution using the CalDAV plugin (open source)
    Zidone (commercial plugin)
    EMClient (Windows only commercial plugin)"
and of course, test extensively to ensure the software (server & client) will meet your needs.

  • ICal opens a timetunnel to the seventies!!! Help needed...

    Hi guys, here's my problem:
I want to publish my iCal by using my .mac account; so that I can subscribe to it from work or from my laptop (both windows); therefore I use Mozilla Sunbird.
Now, I don't know why, but some of my events are not displayed on the calendar because apparently the end date is january 1 1970, time 00.59??? (I can see them in an apart 'event list')
When I check back in iCal, everything's looking normal. All my events start and end on the dates they should be (2006).
By the way, I mentioned that this happens on Sunbird Windows, but it also happens on Sunbird for Mac.
Also, when I try to export as ics file, and I try to import that ics file in Microsoft Outlook (on my window machine), I get a 'file corrupt' message and my iCalendar cannot be imported therefore...
On the other hand, when I visit my published ical with a browser, everything's normal.
Anyone had the same problem? Or uses some kind of same setup?
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Nils

  • Subscribing to iCal with Windows XP is challenging

I am a Mac user, but have clients, using Windows XP, who are able to view but unable to subscribe to my iCal calendars. They are getting a message that says they are missing a software update or driver. Has anyone run into this and do you have any suggestions? Thanks

Windows users must use an application that utilizes the iCal standard (since Apple iCal is not available on Windows.)
There are a few options out there. Two popular options would be Google Calendar or Mozilla Sunbird.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Synchronizing vCards and iCal Data to iPod

    Hi there,
I'm currently using the latest version of iTunes, which is the 6.0.0.18.
Since the last update of iTunes it's possible to sync your contacts and calender data to your iPod using iTunes. The problem is, as far as I know, the syncing only works with outlook.
My problem is, that I'm trying to use open source software like the mozilla firefox browser and the e-mail client Thunderbird with the mozilla sunbird calender extension.
Now my question is, is it possible to sync ones contacts and calender data using such programs mentioned above?
thanks for your help and excuse my way of speaking english but it's a long time ago since I spoke English the last time.

A similar thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1747727&#1747727 recommends deleting the calendar off of your iPod and exporting the calendar using iCal rather than syncing. Try that. If the calendar on the iPod looks correct after that then at least you know it is a sync problem and not a problem with your calendar itself.

  • ICAL calendar sync

    Hello everybody,
i just set up Teaming 2.1 and it works fine. Now some of our staff only want to share Teaming calendars using iCAL links within Lightning or Sunbird. This works fine for readonly configured calendars. With r/w enabled calendars all access results in MODIFICATION_FAILED errors.
Has anybody succesfully set up this combination ?
    Thnx
    Manfred

This is from the Teaming 2.1 documentation, Section 2.16 (Novell Doc: Kablink Teaming 2.1 User Guide - Synchronizing Teaming Task and Calendar Folders to a Desktop Calendar Application
You use this link to export Teaming calendar data for inclusion in another calendar that supports the iCal format (for example, Google* and Outlook*).
I put a packet sniffer on the wire when I tried to create a new event with Sunbird, and in the background Teaming is responding to the PUT with a "405 Method Not Allowed: The specified HTTP method is not allowed for the requested resource (Request method 'PUT' not supported)."

  • 10.5.8 iCal cannot see CalDAV events from SL iCal server

I posed this on the iCal discussions but receive no response. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that is successfully using iCal 3 with SL Server.
    I'm running SL iCal Server.
I can add and interact with CalDav User and Group Calendars on all SL client machines, Web Calendars and PC's (Sunbird) .
I can do the same with my User Calendars my iPhone.
I can add User and Group Calendars to 10.5.8 iCal clients but I cannot see any Events posted from any other source. If I add an Event in Leopard/iCal 3.0.8, that Event shows up in all other devices that share the Calendar, except other 10.5.8 machines.
Are any of you having success?

Wow, you've gotten a lot further than I have.
I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get Sunbird to work with the iCal Server on my Snow Leopard Server install.
    I've tried two ways.
First, the way described in the Getting Started manual, following a URL pattern like this for each user:
    http://myserver.example.com:8008/calendars/users/usershortname/calendar/
I set it up a CalDAV calendar.
It asks me for a user name and password, which I enter, but then in the Sunbird interface I get a yellow alert triangle that says, "The calendar calendarName is momentarily not available."
I've also set it up by borrowing the Server path string from iCal (which works fine). I simply add that to the root of my server's DNS name, like so:
    http://myserver.example.com/principals/_uids_/0C2A72EF-186E-470F-BB98-A1EE49C7D597/
I get asked for authentication again, but again end up with a yellow triangle and no loaded calendar.
I've checked my Airport Extreme, and it has the iCal ports open (8008 and 8443). The iCal Server is set up fine.
I can see activity in the iCal Server logs from the Sunbird client on Windows, but I have no idea what any of that information means, so it's not particularly helpful.
How did you (or anyone else) get Sunbird working?

  • Calendar on 2 machines

The 1.1.2 update finally came through. Nice to be able to add calendar entries now!
I thought I'd ask this question to see if anyone has tried this. I currently use Mozilla Sunbird to publish classroom calendars to my web site from school PC (XP). (using phpiCalendar on the server) I use iCal at home for personal calendars.
Would it be possible to have work PC to sync only 1 calendar (actually 3) with my iPod Touch and have my mac at home sync another? I thought I read somewhere that you can get one machine to sync music and another to sync calendars, but what about two machines syncing different calendars? Right now my mac subscribes to the class calendars created on the PC, but they're read only. It'd be nice to be able to edit both personal & work calendars and sync appropriately.
I'm afraid that if I synced on the PC it would erase the calendars I put on it with the mac. And vise versa.
Anyone tried this? Kind of a pain to install stuff on the work PC, so I thought I'd ask before attempting.
